I had my mirena put in back in August. Since then, I have gained 20 lbs, i get yeast infections at least twice a month and i have an uncomfortable vaginal odor. I have cramps that I have never had before, I sleep all the time, my feet and ankles swell and I get headaches. I am incredibly moody and my bra size has jumped to a DD from a B cup. I feel so fat and today it felt like the bottom of my stomach fell out. I am definitely having this removed bc I honestly believe I have PID. I was reading just now that that is something that can also occur from the mirena. OMG! this yhing was the biggest mistake ever!!!

Well Im finishing the second pack now, and I haven't yelled at anyone or tried to kill myself. I was on mircette before which was horrible, but if you're about to start this pill and just trying to get a lil bit of consumer reviews, just remember that most people who are going to write about it are the people who have had problems with it.
I'm pretty sure my weight is the same as before, but now I'm a D cup instead of a B cup, but no soreness... Hope it works out for you, but if it doesn't there's plenty of other ones out there

I started taking Trivora in June, 2008. I had to stop taking it after 2-1/2 weeks because I was extremely hungry, tired and was had gained 5 to 7lbs during the 2.5 weeks (same systems as if you were really pregnant). The only very nice thing about Trivora was that my boobs looked great!!! I am a b-cup and it went up to a full "C". Of'course that was probably due to the weight/water gain. I didn't feel good at all. I have never taken this type of birth control pill. I took it because it was an alternative to the name brand birth control pills that I normally take. I made a bad decision in getting these pill because I was saving money. I am not sexually active but, I wanted my periods to be regulated. Boy... I should have never made the decision to switch my name brand. On another positive note... my period for the month of June was very light, painless and short. However... my period for the month of July... still has not arrived. It feels like I am going to start but, I never do. Keep in mind... I am not sexually active... and I have never, ever missed a period aside from my two children that are 17 and 12 years old. I know that the Trivora pill has caused a side effect that I was not expecting. Since taking the pill I have gained approx. 10lbs in one month. Feeling bloated all the time because my period still has not started is something that no one wants. Yes... I feel depressed, stomach pains, nausea and I have frequents headaches. I would not recommend this pill to anyone. Hopefully my period will start so I can feel normal and not retaining water and have a constant bloating feeling.

I am 22 years old and have finished my first pack of Loestrin 24 Fe. I have not been on birth control for 2 years before I started this pack. I experienced some mild side effects such as acne, loss of appetite, and spotting. In my last week of pills my spotting stopped, my skin cleared up, and I am capable of carrying out my daily routines without exhaustion. I was really freaked out at first about the side effects but I am completely happy with the pill now. My period came exactly on the second brown pill day and it is light and I have very little cramping. I am also happy to say I have increased from an A to a B cup within the first month.
I suggest that everyone re-evaluate their lifestyles (smoking, drinking, exercise, medications, etc.) Also, I might agree that younger women that haven't been taking pills previously may be less prone to experiencing side effects.

I was put on Femcon for a cyst and I can tell you that I am going back to the Dr next week to switch to another pill. Terrible mood swings, some cramping and severe breast pain so bad that I can only wear a sports bra 2 weeks before my period and I'm, only a B cup. My husband noticed immediately the massive swelling like I was pregnant. My normal bras won't fit during the 2 weeks (week before and week during )and sometimes 10 days after my period and they are so painful. I even think I am depressed because I am moody and very snappy. I've never been on any anti-depressant and my life is going great so there's no need for me to be so moody. Sex drive has also decreased.

I was on the ring for about two months. It seemed great. My best friend had told me about it. We were loving it. Our boobs even went from a B cup to a C cup. I don't know about her but I know I took it the correct way. Then she came down with a "nasty flu" was what we had to tell her parents, but really, she was pregnant. She ended up terminating the pregnancy because the doctors said it was likely the child would have problems since she was 4 weeks pregnant and was still on the ring. I was a total different case though. I didn't even have any morning sickness until I was 6 weeks pregnant. I went to a specialist and they did an ultrasound and nothing seemed to be wrong so I became a single mother at 18. (I caught my boyfriend cheating 5 months into it). I have since then met at least a dozen other women that just so happened to be that one in a million percent with me.

I just finished my 2nd pack of Femcon . For the first 3 or 4 weeks I had headaches and was nauseous often. The symptoms were more avoidable when I began taking the pill at night. I occasionally still woke feeling nauseous, but it didn't last long and soon ended. My breasts have gotten bigger as I now have trouble fitting into some of my bras. I am not complaining though, since I was a small B cup before. They are still tender and feel tougher. I also did notice I was getting some big zits (3 or 4 at once when I usually have 1, if any, a month) the first few weeks were hell, but I am glad I stuck it out. I know the side effects can really be miserable, but I encourage you to try and stick it out, for at least a month and definitely try, if you can, to take your pill a couple hours before bedtime so you can hopefully sleep through the unpleasantness.
good luck! (:

I kind of feel stupid for not recognizing Yasmin being the problem sooner. I contributed my panic attacks, anxiety and depression to the birth of my daughter in 2004. I was put on Yasmin Summer of 2005. I switched from OrthoTriCyclen Lo because I thought the pill was making me bloated and crampy. I have recently found that I needed a colon cleansing pill that keeps my colon healthy. By Thanksgiving of 2005 I went to my Gyn for my yearly and mentioned my anxiety. He put me on Paxil. A month later I had gained 10 pounds and had to move up to size 12. I was weaned off of Paxil, absolutely miserable. I took Welbutrin, it made me worse. I tried to take nothing for a few months and could not even handle life. For the first time ever I did not want to get out of bed I had such horrible anxiety that I thought I was going crazy. By spring of 2006 I started going to a different doctor. She put me on Effexor, at first I felt great but then I started feeling bad again. I have upped my dose twice and I feel that at 300 mg of Effexor I feel like I should not be feeling anything but I am still depressed and having anxiety. Just yesterday I had a full blown panic attack while going on a dune ride with friends. Something that I normally would enjoy. In Oct. 2006 I was expressing my concern of weight gain to my friend and she mentioned that just maybe, if Yasmin could give me pregnancy breasts(size B cup to D cup) that maybe it is giving me other pregnancy symptoms. I decided to go off of Yasmin, it has almost been 3 months and I am hoping to see a change soon. My breasts have gone to a DD. I have gained another 14 pounds. I have had 1 period and now am 3 weeks late again. I have been bloated and irritable for 4 weeks now. My stomach is so bloated I look like I could be 3 months pregnant. I hope my symptoms have helped some of you, I know yours have helped me. I now feel like there is some hope.

I am so glad to have found this site...I started Yasmin almost 18 months ago, and really I didn't think I could tell a difference in my mood/emotions or energy level, etc. (However, a month later I got engaged and started a new job in the same week, which brought on enough stress as it was!) Everyone else in my life, though noticed I was acting differently - depressed, bouts with anxiety, mood swings, NO LIBIDO, couldn't wear my contacts any longer, headache after headache, emotionless....finally, I realized (18 months later) what the "x-factor" was in all of this, and it seems to have been the Yasmin. Over the last several months, my breasts have gotten extremely swollen and overly tender. I haven't had much weight gain, except for I feel bloated all the time, which makes me feel like I am a walking water balloon. Being an athelete, I am very active and stick to a farily-strict diet, but I can barely move with my boobs going from a B-cup to spilling out of a C-cup!
I just stopped the pill last Thursday and have started my period as expected...has anyone had the swollen breasts/bloated side-effect? How long does it generally take for one's body to get back to normal?

As i said before as guest #4939/40, i forgot to tell you that at 55 years doctor discovered a small prostate cancer, was given since july 1975 to feb 1997 4 to 5 shot of LUPRON, every 3 months, I got side effects of:Hot flashes, my penis reduced,no erections(has to take Viagra)in order to have a 75% erection,My breast grew a bigger size like a B cup, with tenderness poain on my nipples, after finished the treatment doctor said they will come back to their size, but not still there, feel frustated and angrybecause that small cancer at age 55 could have been treated with seed implants, my testicles got small, the semen is minimum and a lot of thinking that it worries me.

Mirena has helped my sex drive, I know women are different, but I seem to just get turned on for no apparent reason since about 2 weeks into the Mirena. My cramping is different than without the Mirena but definitely manageable. My periods lasted 10 days before the Mirena, with the first 5 days being extremely heavy and after having 1 period with the Mirena, I've noticed positive changes. My period was still 10 days but it was much more even, and I only used Light flow tampons the WHOLE period.
-- By bridta | Reply | (1) replies | Private Message meMy breasts were barely an A cup before Mirena, and i had significant swelling and tenderness before my period, and after my period the swelling went down almost all the way and the tenderness was gone, but I've got a definite A cup now, plus this month's swelling is closer to a B cup. I'm hoping each month's swelling will bring me back to my before having children B cup.
I'm doing great with the Mirena. I'm sorry to see so many who it isn't working for.
