Three weeks after taking Lisinopril (10mg 1x) I developed a severe back ache that migrated to my lower right front section. I started having problems with the strength in my leg muscles to the point that I could no longer walk without the fear of falling. Two weeks after I stopped taking Lisinopril, the back and lower stomach problems went away and I can now walk 20 feet but still have problems with balance. I still can not walk ujp any stairs or lift my leg more than 1 inch. Never had this problem before I took Lisinopril. I have not been able to work now for 2 months.

Happy to have Mirena out of me! I had Mirena inserted in 7/07. I had it removed on 7/13/09—YEAH!. My sister, who is a Sonographer (she does ultrasounds), noticed my weight gain and that I haven’t been myself for a while (moody). She said that so many women complain to her about Mirena when she is doing ultrasounds for them. Most of them tell her about the weight they have gained and their moodiness. My sister said… “You workout all of time and watch what you eat. You shouldn’t be gaining weight.” I was 150 lbs when Mirena was inserted and two years later, I weigh 168 lbs. I workout intensely five or more days a week and earned the 2008 Olympian title at my gym (which took a year of hard work to acquire), but my weight keeps creeping up no matter how hard I try. My workouts keep getting harder because my body is heavier… it’s so frustrating! Following my sister’s advice, I decided to do some research on Mirena and found this site. THANK YOU! I was so relieved to know that I wasn’t crazy and that others have experienced the same symptoms as me. Here are some of the other symptoms that I experienced from Mirena: constant bloating, I ached from my hips down to my knees (which I attributed to my hard workouts, but was wrong), mood swings, hot flashes in the middle of the night, acne on my chin, dark hair growth on my chin, dull cramps in my lower stomach, back ache, fatigue, fluttering in my stomach (which felt like a baby), sensitive breasts, pain during intercourse, spotting after intercourse (almost every time). I’m not sure how long it will take me to get my body back, but am so glad that I’m on my way. I’d like to thank everyone who posted symptoms on this site, you’ve changed my life.

Hi, I have been on Yasmin for almost a year now. And only in the last three months have I started experiencing side effects.
I thought I was silently going out of my mind, I have cramps in my abdomen, dizziness, constant headaches, mood swings from hell, nausea, a runny tummy, tiredness, hot flushes, intense cold, and Strain Injury of the right wrist, back ache and shoulder ache, depression, and just a general ill feeling.. I cant complain of acne as yet. Reading what others have gone through have opened my eyes. This pill is evil. What i don't understand is how can doctors prescribe this if they are aware of the side effects and what it does to us. I am stopping it immediately I only hope the withdrawal process is not as bad as what I fear I am going to go through.

They don't even tell you the affect it can have on your nursing infant. Anything from skin conditions to mental problems. It absolutely sickens me that they are so casual about the lives of others. I hate this thing, it is coming out tomorrow and I can't wait. I have headaches, nausea/cramping. a round-the-clock back ache that requires heavy meds, stomach problems, night sweats, insomnia, fatigue, acne,I gained 25 lbs. I cannot wait to be rid of it.

I had my mirena fitted Jan 07 and within 2 months my sex drive went to zero, constipation just before when my period was 'meant' to begin, last six months the bleeding has returned as normal, and the itchy skin drives me insane, plus my moods can get out of control, huge spots that last about a month, back ache, weight gain that cannot be shifted, I go to the gym twice and week and swimming twice a week but nothing, best contraceptive ever as you don't want anyone near you and your partner will probably be horrified by you anyway!! Today I went and got it removed (happy days!!), whilst there also discovered huge fibroid, just gets better, not. So now waiting and hoping that all these symptoms go and that my life may return to some sort of normality and if you try telling the doctors your opinion they just dismiss your concerns. Was thinking about having the injection but now not so sure if it works in the same way. My advice is don't do it and if you do, take note of what folk have written here so you know what to look out for.

I have had my mirena since June 2004. I've told a zillion people how great it was & how I want another one 5yrs from now because it is so great. Here is how my story goes my second child was born the last of May 2004 with a cleft lip & palate. In the first 6mo he either had 3 or 4 surgeries never sleep & still trying to pump breast milk to feed him. I go Nov 2004 to the Dr with panic attacks, anxiety, depression, they wanted to admit me & I would not let them. The looked at me & said your bipolar take your meds. I am still unable to take my kids in the movie theater or drive long distances in the car by myself . Feb 2005 I gained 45ibs always wore a size 3 in clothes but now then a Size 13! Took diet pills off & on to lose that. I now weigh 124 but my stomach always is bloated to where I look 3 or 4mo preg. summer 2008 till now I now double up in pain & tears it fills like laber pains, extreme mood changes worse than every because I'm on a mood stabilizer & it doesn't seem to help much, Very bad back ache, hands & feet always going numb, headaches. always tired no energy, I feel bad because I've been really angry with everybody around me & I feel that know one understands. I 've be going from doctor to doctor but for 6mo to try to get a answer. Even my husband noticed something must be wrong because I'm just not myself. I had just came up with I'm getting Old & falling to pieces even though I'm just 29yrs old. I go see a gyn today & I'm telling them to remove it now. The joy of life has been took from in the last 4yrs & 9mo. Please don't let this happen to you no the risk early

Since i started taking it I get tingling in my feet, A LOT of back ache and i'm still experiencing the headaches, although my doctor said that it would take about a month to start working. I still haven't lost any weight, which im looking forward too since im overweight for my age. Im going to keep taking it but if it gets worse im going to have to leave it.

i had mirena fitted in oct 08 and ever since have not been myself. i've been anxious and depressed, constantly worried and convinced im going to get an illness and die. i was never like this before i was always optimistic and positive, now i'm like a crazy person. i've tried other homone contraception and none suits, this was my last option, my husband has offered to have the snip i've been that bad. i've been having 3 periods a month, back ache and serious period pain, which i have never had before.
my doctor has also told me he is fully supportive if i want it out as he isn't a fan, he also said very few doctors would admit to it causing any of the side effects, but he whole heartedly believes it does. i also have period pain that radiates out to in my hip, very weird! there are lots of ladies the mirena suits but i am definitely not one of them.

Hi, I put a post on here yesterday and things have progressed since then. Last night I went to bed and felt like I could have hung myself, I cried myself to sleep (something I haven't done in a long while), I was so emotional, the pain in my side had intensified and I couldn't lie on my right side. It also occurred to me after reading some more posts on here that it probably is the cause of my back ache, I have had lower backache for some time now, i know its not my bed cos it cost me a lot of money to get the right mattress etc. I have also have had an achey feeling at the top of my right leg if I stretch it out, in my hip flexer, again I didn't put it to the mirena but now it seems it might well be from that.
Anyway, I have just phoned hte hospital and am going to have it taken out today, I have to turn up and hang around until they can fit me in, i don't care, I can't wait til Tuesday, I don't want another night like last night and living on pain killers.
Its funny cos 3 of the girls I work with have had it and said it was great, that's partly why I went for it, their periods have stopped completely, they don't get any nasty side affects at all. The only difference is that they have had children and I haven't, not that that should make any difference after reading some of these posts.
I'm not looking forward to the actual 'removal' if its anything like the insertion but its a small price to pay.
I'll let you all know if there are any changes afterwards.
Hang in there girls, you're not alone! :o)

Hello,
have had partial gastrectomy for cancer nearly 5 years ago and was prescribed Omeprazole 30mg twice a day. I can say that I have not felt well since. I suffer nausea, pain eye problems and joint pains. Doctor says that Omeprazole cannot be the cause. I am going to stop taking it to see if symptoms improve.

Thanx for this site. I took Doxy for 3 days (100mg twice a day) and i woke up with a terrible headache on my right forehead. I took ibuprofen then my left hand started shaking and my heart was beating so fast. I ended up calling 911 thinking something was more serious with me but by the time the paramedics came my pulse and heart beat were normal. Almost 48 hours later i still had the headache and now was having shortness of breath, feeling tired, back ache, panic attack and light headedness. I called my DR and she said i probably just needed some rest. No mention of some possible side effect to doxy so i used my initiative and googled this stupid doxy drug..Wow the results were very helpful and now i know its the doxy doing this to me for sure. I stopped taking it right away which is after only 3 days after but my body hasn't gone back to normal. No more shortness of breath but still have back ache, Oh and for some reason i cant sleep..its 5 am right now and am on my computer..so i think i'll add insomnia to the list of side effects..NEVER AGAIN WILL I TAKE DOXY

I took Cipro three weeks ago for a UTI. Within days I felt bloated and my bladder felt numb. Doctor attributed it to my UTI. But after seeing a urologist she wondered if it wasn't the Cipro. I've had two ultrasounds, a CT Scan and an XRay. I am bloated, constipated, look 2-3 months pregnant, back ache, hip bones feel so much pressure. I am miserable. I get out of breath easy. Until this, I was a VERY healthy person. I had never had a UTI and I wish I would have known about this drug. Now they want me to see a Gastroenterologist to see what it wrong with me. I am SO ticked off that nothing has been done about this drug yet after reading the horror stories on the net about it.

I aged ten years in a month. My legs lost any muscular power and I needed help to get up our 3 steps to the front door. My eyes are sore and my balance is also affected. What I do not know is how long am I going to be affected like this. I began to think that I was starting with either motor
neurone disease or Parkinson's disease.
Muscle weakness, loss of balance, bad dreams, anxiety, irritability.joint pain.sore itchy eyes and difficulty focusing on printed pages.
A., Yorkshire, England.I am 69 years old and prior to Singulaire I was pretty fit for my age.

I have experienced several episodes of nasal congestion, post nasal drip and shortness of breath since beginning this medication, which are becoming more frequent. When I don't take it, this does not occur. I asked my doctor to change me to a different BP med but was told it was not possible to have that side effect after taking it for 1 1/2 years. She wanted me to use Flonase which is a steroid that will only give me more side effects. I hate this and am considering seeing another doctor.

I had the Mirena fitted in April 2005 because of bad pms and heavy periods. I thought it was great at first not to have the periods, and the pms noticeably subsided for a good 18 months. By that stage I'd put about 4 kgs on, which was starting to niggle me. I worked really hard to keep my weight stable. During the next months up till removal 2 weeks ago I experienced aching joints, particularly back and knees, loss of libido, tiredness, the return of the pms symptoms, and acne as bad as I'd had it as a teenager. When I went to see a dermatologist, it was he who pointed out that this was a major side effect of the Mirena, so when I searched on this on the internet, I was amazed how many women had got the same problems as me. I had started thinking that now I'm 42 I must be over the hill or something.
I had it removed 2 weeks ago, and although my weight hasn't changed, I feel lighter on my feet. My back ache has gone, and I feel much more energetic.
I know other women who have the Mirena and have not been affected in the slightest by these negative symptoms. I guess it's just the way your body reacts. Fortunately I didn't need to ask twice to get it removed, since I understand some gyne's seem to reject the connection between the symptoms and the Mirena. Problem is, it's difficult to find a birth control that suits me. I'm definitely leaving the hormones alone in future.

I took Zyrtec for some time, as a prescription med. 14 months ago, my blood pressure spiked, for no apparent reason and after 8 different anti-hypertensive drugs, I had no improvement. I was extremely lethargic, I gained 20 pounds, I had severe dizziness, couldn't sleep through the night the last 5 months, my heart would race, constant back ache, and I felt like a snail - no energy to even walk for 10 minutes. Last week, after 3 nights without sleep, and a blood pressure that was so high, I feared a stroke, I went to the emergency room. After a blood test, I was told I was severely anemic! The doctor immediately administered oxygen and ordered a blood transfusion. I continued taking the Zyrtec while in the hospital, and the nursing staff, and my doctor were baffled that my blood pressure would not drop, it continued to rise! All the cardiac tests they performed came back normal, so there's no problem with my heart. The chest X-ray came back clean, no problem with my lungs, I was just anemic, but that didn't explain why my blood pressure would not drop. I came home and forgot to take a dose one night. I slept through the night, but thought "that's because I'm so tired," and the next morning when I checked my blood pressure, it dropped significantly. I couldn't figure out what was going on, I was going CRAZY! That night, I took the Zyrtec, and ALL the horrible symptoms returned. Well, I was pretty sure what the problem was and began researching the next morning. I some information that stated some severe side effects were found after it went to market. The side effects included: aggressive reaction, anaphylaxis, cholestasis, convulsions, glomerulonephritis, hallucinations, hemolytic anemia, hepatitis, orofacial dyskinesia, severe hypotension, stillbirth, suicidal ideation, suicide and thrombocytopenia. That was the LAST dose I took, my blood pressure began to drop the next day and I began to improve overall. I'm scheduled for a kidney function test because that was my backache, the glomerulonephritis; which is an inflammation of the blood vessels in the kidneys. It may be temporary, but can lead to scarring and damage to the point of failure, requiring dialysis and transplant.

Before I started taking Loestrin 24 I was using orthitryclyclin. I was fine. I heard about a new birth control that would end up in my period only lasting three days. that sounded like the best option. I've been on it since June. NO side effects until recently. Alot of bloating, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, back ache. Any time I smell food or eat food I feel so nauseous. The question is should I be worried about being pregnant or are these normal side effect?

Been on this thing about 10 months, recently have been having blurred vision and 2 days ago passed out, thankfully not while driving with my two children in the car. Decided to see if this was what was causing all these problems. Other side effects have been no sex drive, cranky, anxiety, mood swings, eating all the time, breast tenderness, excessive discharge-usually about a week after inserting a new ring- but to the point of changing panties 2-3 times daily and then before bed, headache, back ache- upper and lower. Obviously I think this may be what is causing all of this due to the many of other women that are experiencing the same things, and also that a few of the serious symptoms are listed on the official web site. I have every form of birth control other than the IUD and of course having my tubes tied. I am at the point that I want to try the IUD, but am tired of all the side effects from every one I have ever tried.

I had my Mirena inserted on June 20th and finally on August 15th I stopped bleeding and no discharge. I know that my body is reacting to the constant hormones that this thing gives off unlike the birth control pill where you have the 7 days of no hormones. I have cramps every now and again and the back ache is bad sometimes. I plan on giving it until six months because I know the 3-6 month time frame is what the dr says. I get the headaches to or dizziness, but it's not that bad. I actually keep a diary since the first day of insertion: discharge, and side effects so when I go to the dr for a follow up I can have back up to everything I tell him.

My doctor prescribed Levaquin 500mg as the 3rd antibiotic to treat a sinus infection that just would not go away. Unfortunately I'd taken 12 of the 14 pills prescribed before I found this site while trying to figure out what was worng with me. I'm experiencing sleeplessness, extreme lethargy, neck pain, muscle & joint pain and I'm having difficulty concentrating at work. I've stopped taking this awful drug and can't wait for that point it works its way out of my system.
I am very sorry to hear about the problems you all have experienced. I thank you for taking the time to post your experiences here so that people like me have others to turn to.

I think that I finally figured out why I am so physically and mentally sick. I received the mirena almost 2 years ago and I was a true advocate of the product...I love it!! About 6 months ago I started to have panic attacks and anxiety (i have never experienced this before) it was so bad that I barely made it to work everyday and could no longer handle being out in public. My PCP placed me on different types of anti-depressants (which made me depressed). Currently I take Budeprion which has decreased my anxiety but I do not feel like myself. The past month and a half I wake up with the feeling of morning sickness (the numerous pregnancy test say that I am not), have headaches, low energy levels and little motivation. I was pretty sure that my hormones levels must be "off" but my PCP and OB insisted that there is no way that my symptoms have anything to do with my hormones because my child is almost 2 and I am 29 years old. I have gone through numerous tests, scans etc.to find the cause of why I feel so awful and all tests came back Fine. After reading the stories on this website I now know that I do not need anti-depressants and I am not going crazy...I just need to get the Mirena removed.
