Less than 2 months after taking Lipitor I have been experiencing intense weakness of the legs, especially the hip area. A normally avid walker, last week really woke me up when I was unable to walk over 40 feet without having to stop from sheer leg exhaustion. I'd have to actually lean on my partner until I could manage to shuffle again- a shuffling gait is what I had to resort to just to make it back to the car.
This is bullshit because even though I've had some angina symptoms, right up until I went to the hospital I was able to hike; was still relatively strong.
So today I have spent hours researching side effects and have seen on this site alone many mentions of intense leg weakness and pain with Lipitor.
This, along with simultaneously educating myself on the truth about high cholesterol has convinced me to gradually cease taking this medication.

Instead I will replace with sufficient quantities of VitC, buckwheat combined with gingko, and of course I can never stop with the garlic because it is delicious.

I wish i would have found this web site 2 weeks ago. I have to kids and married.Husband didn't want any more kids but i wasn't ready to get my tubes tied. I'm only 24 years old. So my doctor suggested I get Mirena. I thought it was a great alternative. So 2 weeks ago i got it. Haven't stopped my period since. I even am breaking out under my armpits. VERY PAINFUL too. There swollen so bad that it hurts to swing my arms. Not only that deodorants makes it worse. Has anyone else had this problem!!
As far as the tiredness goes, yes i also have noticed that also. I hope I don't loss any more libido. Thats already a big issue in my marriage. I am already thinking about taking it out. OH does anyone know if it is safe so do ab exercises while having mirena. Thanks everyone.

I had the Mirena inserted on 06/19/08, a day before I was scheduled for my second back surgery. Yea, I maybe should've waited but it took me 3 months just to get an appt with my gyne so I decided to keep it. It hurt like hell. I didn't think much of it because it was birth control (just implanted). Well, the next day I had surgery and everything was fine. All the doctors new that I did have the procedure prior to surgery and said it would not interfere. Anyhow, I was sent home and ended up back in the hospital 3 days later from a horrible migraine. I had never had a migraine in my life and it very unlikely to start with symptoms at the age of 30. They thought it was a possible reaction to anesthesia but the more I think about it...I don't think so. All test were negative but I had a migraine for about 3 days. I was very depressed and in extreme amount of pain (from headache, not the back-- that part was actually a breeze compared to last time). I started with severe anxiety attacks to were I was (and still am) afraid to drive on the freeway. I have a feeling of uncontrol/ fuzzy- like I'm not really driving, just floating along the freeway. My skin is horrible. I have acne breakouts like crazy and am actually getting a "rash/small bumps" on the upper part of arms/shoulders. It's weird cause my friend has this same symptom and she has had hers for about 2 years. Anyhow, I have weight gain, some hair loss but have noticed more so hair growing on my face/chin. Headaches are still there (sharp, stabbing to forehead) but they come in spurts. I'm very irritable and my husband thinks I don't love him anymore because I don't want to have sex. (Whats the use of being on birth control if you don't want to have sex?) My breast are very tender to touch and I am very tired and dizzy at times. I have scheduled an appt for mid Dec to have it removed. I will update the status of symtoms. From what I can tell by reading all the blogs....its definitely this IUD.

Last year i was impressed with the result reported on the use of chantix i started on it during my back surgery recovery about 6 week later i suffered a stroke i first had severe headache for about 2 weeks on and off and one morning my right hand and leg felt funny on admission to the hospital i was told i had a stroke. After stopping this medication i regained full use of my arms and legs.
I would like research done to see if the use of chantix is a coursing factor to what i experienced.

I have pain in my left hip flexor when taking Lipitor. I was on 40mg/day and went on a daily walk with my wife after her back surgery. My left hip flexor would cramp. Sometimes it would cramp so bad, I had to quit walking and catch a ride home.

I had a month holiday off of Lipitor and could run after a week with no pain.

I started back on 10mg/day and the pain has returned, but not as bad.

I did an experiment- Laying flat on my back, I could lift my left leg one foot off of the floor. I stopped the Lipitor for seven days and could lift my left leg two feet off of the floor.
Can anyone help me?

I have been taking Neurontin for 2 months. I didn't think it was really helping because I still couldn't function normally. I have had 3 disk surgeries on L4/5, and still have severe pain in my right hip and down my right leg all the way to my foot. I am told there is scar tissue build-up in the area causing the nerve pain. I started taking Neurontin in small doses and have built up to 1200mg 3 times a day. I still couldn't walk more than 20 feet without leaning on something, but the pain was noticably less severe. My doctor put me on Trileptal instead, and the first day off the Neurontin was a nightmare...the pain was worse than ever. I went back to the Neurontin immediately. I have experienced some weight gain, but have attibuted that to no exercise. It does seem to make me forgetful, tired and somewhat depressed, but without it, the pain is completely debilitating. I want my life back, but I don't know what to do from here. Neurontin has helped the pain to a more tolerable level, but if I still can't even walk, I'm not even close to functioning normally. If anyone has a suggestion, I would love to hear it...thanks.

My husband was on 80mg of Oxycontin 3 times a day and 40 mg twice per sometimes he would take three if the pain was really bad.
He had a hierniated disc and tried every drug under the sun.
He was on these amount for about a year and half and was well a different person, he dropped down to 80mg on his own ...........he had back surgery and after the surgery really wanted to get off them and be off this awful drugs he suffered withdrawl for about a month and could not drop any more on his own it was too much to bear so he did the methadone maintenace program and got off the oxy you stop the oxy the day you start the methadone, the methadone takes away the craving an need for oxy anyhow he did the methadone maintenace for 3 months he came down in large amounts on his own he started at 15mg and came down from there to 10 and then in singles coming off the methadone was also so brutal and he went through hell with it...........he is now pain free and drug free expect for the occasional anti inflamm he is so so grateful to be off the oxy and able to live a normal life he never wants to touch that drug again.
I want all those out there addicted to this drug to know you are not alone and there are groups and doctors that can help you get off this awful drug and live like a human being dependant only on oxygen food and water and not opiates you are sick and need help and my heart goes out to all of you and your families and I hope you can find the strength and courage to do what my husband did.

This poison almostkilled my husband who received it after back surgery. He went into shock and was hospitalized for four days. Started with swelling of throat and tongue, pain in extremities, burning sensation, joints, muscles, tendons all hurt, unable to walk or stand or sit up or eat or sleep. Turned into pneumonia, congestive heart failure. He is now on oxygen 24 7, morphine, a walker, 2 months later. Before surgery he had a clean bill of health except for ruptured discs. Levaquin is garbage

It seemed to begin with a 2 day headache. As I had a severe UTI, I was not sure if the symptoms I was having were because of the Levaquin or the infection. The headache was the first "unusual" symptom I had within 1 hour of taking the Levaquin. Then the muscle aches, tendon pain, arches of feet hurt, arthritis in hands became more painful than I had ever experienced, very fatiqued, skin sensitive to touch, tingling sensation on arms, racing heartbeat (may have been due to anxiety of other symptoms). These symptoms continued for 6 days until 24 hours after stopping medication. I discontinued it after researching side effects on internet as Patient Information sheet that came with medication was vague. I still have tendon pain in left elbow, and arches of feet. Amazingly, I have had knee surgery and back surgery, but neither of these areas seemed to have been affected. Still don't feel "right", but hopeful will continue to improve.

My husband had back surgery in June of 2005. They were suppose to operate on L4,L5, and S1 but instead they operated on L2 and L3. After surgery mu husband was referred to pain management. They did epidural lumbar injections with 80cc of Kenalog every 2 weeks for 6 months. The doctors just told us that we are going to give you injections. They didn't tell us anything else. These injections were given in the L4,L5 and S1 region. On top of all of the injections my husband has heart disease and high blood pressure which the doctors knew this before the injections. NOW we have been told by 3 different doctors that there is nothing that they can do. Also, they have told us that my husband is on limited yime and they only trying to make him comfortable. But we can't get no doctors to put this in writing so I can get help at home for my husband. My husband on only 52 years old. My husband has developed a rash, skin flaking off, muscles lost, weakness, can't walk, and etc.

I've been taking kenalog injections for several years for my allergies. I had back surgery about 15 months ago. A ruptured disc pressing into my spinal cord causing severe numbness from stomach to toes as soon as I sat down. The numbness is gone but I still have severe lower back pain. Could this be from the kenalog?

I am a an active, healthy 42 yr old female who was taking 60mg every day for 5 days. Medicine was prescribed to me by my doctor to help with the pain from an injury that aggravated back surgery that I had in January. I am done with the medication but am feeling flu symptons (i.e. sensitive skin, achey joints, spinning sensation, general fatigue). Is this normal? My appetite has tripled! Whats up? This medicine is awful! Just say no!

I have been on Prednisone for 4 months for sudden Rheumatoid Arthritis, while waiting for back surgery for a herniated disc. Drs. say the two are not connected in any way. I was taking 10 mg.per day, being weaned off and now at 2 mg. per day. I have gained 45 lbs in these 4 months. I have the moon face, neck hump, HUGE abdomen (looks like I an 9 months pregnant) I am depressed, on pills for that. I want to be off this drug and never come back. The weight gain is terrible. I am 5 ft tall and usually 115 lbs. I won't go out anywhere and get my family to do shopping etc. I am not a happy person at all, I cry a lot.

I would have muscle cramps in the middle of the nite in my legs. Dry mouth, hunger for food when I wasn't. Also my body broke out into numbers sores, that dermo couldn't figure out, after it left numerous scars on my arms, shoulders an buttock area and some on my legs, I quit taking this junk, medicine, also it cause me to have anxiety outburst, and made me angry when I am a happy go lucky person, personally I thiink this medicine is junk, now I have scars on my body to prove it.

I am on Pravachol 40mg and I am experiencing musculer problems. First let me tell you that I was on Crestor and told my doctor that I was experiending musculer problems. He took me off Crestor for 3 weeks and now he is giving me Pravachol 40 mg. I have taken them only 4 days and already I am having trouble. I did have back surgery a few years back and now have a serious problem with my nerves and muscles in my right leg. They have done everything possible to solve my problem that is short of another or multiple operations. I believe if there is anything else I could take for my problem I would rather not take Pravachol. I am now being treated by the IDD machine (therapeutic) and I am now on my 5th trip to the table. I was feeling good until I woke up this morning with the same pain as I have had with Crestor. Could you tell me have I given the Medicine enough time or do I continue until I can not move my muscles and my nerves are shot?. NOTE: I forgot to add that upon getting up in the morning I can not step down on the feet as the pain in my heal area is so very painful.

I had back surgery sevral years ago & now need another. Then I had a major heart attack & had heart surgery. I live on pain medication for my beck & take a handful of pills daily for my heart. I am only 47 years old.
I have had problems sleeping for sometime lately have been very stressed. My Doctor put me on Xanax about 2 months ago. At first I slept & felt well but lately I feel overly emotional. I will cry over anything or nothing & just have this feeling like I'm going to die.
I'm wondering if this is a side effect of the Xanax.
