The plot thickens.......... and I think I may be on to something here! I've been taking a protein supplement for the last two months or so. For the first several weeks I didn't experience any major side effects from it. More recently, within the last couple of weeks, about 15 min. after I take it I begin to have sharp pains in my stomach with nausea. The pain and discomfort is radiating, comes and goes. It lasts for about 10-15 min. and then disappears almost as suddenly as it comes on. I hadn't even noticed it before but one of the ingredients in this protein powder is....... wait for it........ wait for it............ any guesses?.............. wait for it.............. Lactase enzyme! I feel like Sherlock Holmes! LOL Now I'm convinced that I'm correct. If any brave soul who has had a bad experience with the tablets would be willing to try the milk, where the Lactase has already converted the Lactose, I would be very interested to hear about the experience. My guess is that the side effects would be substantially reduced in intensity if not virtually non-existent. So....... since I was first, who is going to be second?

I started taking Avelox 9 days ago. I was prescribed 14 days of Avelox after a round of Ceftin failed to clear up a sinus infection.
I am an avid tennis player, playing 3-5 times a week. My first bad experience happened yesterday when I went out to play and as soon as I walked outside I had a head to toe tingling feeling. This felt like I had chills but no goosebumps were showing. Over an hour or so later, the goosebumps showed up. This was in 90 degree heat!! I first thought it was dehydration, which it may have been, since I didn't seem to be able to get enough water/Gatorade no matter how much I would drink. This is even at night when I am not in the heat!!
I didn't take the medicine today. Played again this morning. I had the same tingling feeling head to toe, but no chills this time. To explain the tingling, I told a friend my skin felt like it was creepy crawly! It was a horrible feeling again in extreme heat!
I, also, have a hamstring that feels a lil tinge to it. I never have these problems and I am guessing this is due to the medicine, too.
If I walk outside, my body temperature feels like it shoots up! Even though I do not have a fever.
I went to my doctor's office and he is out of town! I asked to see another Dr. and he was "too busy to see me" since he was trying to get to the hospital! I was told to call my family Dr.which I did, only to be told he was also booked and I couldn't be seen. So, I gave up! And, not taking the medicine anymore!! Never again. This will be on my list of 'Allergic to.'
I usually have no side effects from medicines.

I wanted to make sure I updated my post as I had a very bad experience with this birth control pill. I posted very serious suicidal thoughts, severe anxiety, no sleep, etc and after 5 days I called my doctor. He ran a few tests and noticed that I had developed a rash that I had paid no attention to. I was sent over to another doctor who confirmed that I was allergic to an inactive ingredient in the pill. My "side effects" were getting worse simply because the more I took the more I was reacting. I was immediately admitted to the hospital and given IV fluids to flush my body and shots to counter effect the allergic reaction. I have not taken bcp in over 15 years and there was no way to know about this in advance. I feel 100% better now, not taking any bcp at the moment and was thankful for the cramps that I woke up with this morning! : ) I guess from my story is make sure you are informed, I didn't call my doc, wanted to see if it would pass and was not aware of the "severe" side effects. I would have been told after day 1 to stop taking them had I been more informed. My experience is very unique and was in no way a direct result of the birth control pill name, but only of one of the inactive ingredients. Best of luck to everyone!

I had mirena put in in Oct 08. My symptoms are: dizziness, sweating, nausea, (these symptoms can be mild and brief (seconds); or last a few minutes. I had severe dizziness in May and June of 2009. I also get acne on my shoulders, neck, face, and my T zone is very oily (especially my forehead). I am using good acne products to try to combat this problem, but I continue to have a problem. Some of my acne is like welts and I even have this going on on my scalp. I wrecked my car in December 2008. At that time I was very foggy headed. I blamed the foggy headedness on being stressed and overworked. I am 40 years old. My children are 10 and 13, therefore I know my symptoms are not post pregnancy. Today, I questioned if I wasn't going through early menopause. My doctor said this mirena would be wonderful and that after six months I would not have a period anymore. I have a period every two weeks. My periods are very light, but I still have them every two weeks, and they last for two weeks. I have been wondering if my body will adjust, and if I will eventually get to this heavenly place of now periods and bliss?

I've been only a week with NuvaRing. I've experienced depression, vaginal dryness, vaginal itching, after only 3 days of using it I got a nasty yeast infection, I didn't find my boyfriend attractive anymore, I got offended easily, Also I got this BAD headaches, and cramps "down there" very frequently. Also I got a strange rash on my vag, accompanied with the itching. I don't like NuvaRing at all. I took it out today, since I couldn't sleep because of the itching and the cramps. Bad experience. When is my boyfriend going to get fixed... Back to condoms it is.

I used the NuvaRing for 2 months, and had a bad experience the whole time. Within the first couple of weeks, my sex drive was gone. I didn't even want my husband to kiss me. I was extremely hormonal, as well as nauseous. I had cramps and spotting for three weeks the second month I used it. It was awful! As soon as I got rid of the thing, my sex drive was back and I feel so much better now!

I've been on Aviane for the past couple of weeks. This is my first experience with birth control and I'm 23. So far the only side effects that I have experienced are: slight irritation that went away, sparse small pimples, light spotting, and slight loss of appetite. I'm not complaining about these symptoms in the least. Each woman's body will react differently to each pill she's on. So not every woman will have the same experience with this pill as another may have, as obviously stated by the previous comments. In saying that, I don't think people should read these blogs and either (a) not choose this pill because of somebody else bad experience, or (b) expect these things to NOT occur when you get on a pill because most of the symptoms people are describing are listed in the information pamphlet that comes with the pills and are outlined by your Doctor before you start taking them. If symptoms are that severe, talk to your Doctor. It's not that this pill is "bad" or "no good" it's just not suitable for everyone.

I am a 25 y/o mother of 5 boys, and my youngest is 8 months old now, and I had mirena inserted in Jan. 2009. I also I have lupus, so my hair falls out when I am pregnant or breastfeeding, but I delivered in Nov. 2008, and stopped breastfeeding in May 2009, and since I quit breastfeeding, my hair falling out has only gotten worse. The first 4 months that it was in, I had a heavy non-stop period. Now I get a 7-8 day period twice a month. In between my lengthy periods, I have a discharge that smells really weird. My partner tries to be understanding, but it's difficult for him I know. He says I have permanent PMS, and that I'm pushing him away. My mood swings from happy to sad to out right angry at the drop of a dime. It's kinda scary really, especially since I work around people and can't afford to have a break down out of nowhere. My partner also said he can feel the threads from the mirena sticking him when we have sex, and that it hurts him. On top of that, whenever we have sex, I always start bleeding for a couple of days (2-3) w/ real bad cramping. I have also had weight loss instead of gain, I get body chills, nausea, irritability, and the list could go on forever. I also had a bad experience w/ the depo shot, and I'm not good w/ pills, so I am looking for another form of birth control that isn't permanent because we would still like to try for a girl one day, just not now .... HELP ME!

I used NuvaRing for 6 months, and during that time i cried all the time. I was very depressed, I would get upset for every little thing, and i was not in the mood for sex. My boyfriend told me that i should take the NuvaRing out and i did. I felt better, but i gained weight while using NuvaRing, and even more after i stop. I always weight 120 pounds and right now i have 138. Its been 6 months since i stop and did not lose weight. While using NR i had painful periods, spotting between periods, headache, nausea, and depression, and i thought i was pregnant. I went to see a doctor and everything was just fine. The food i loved had different taste while using NR. I would get sick from some food that i loved before using NR. It felt like food poisoning. My doctor told me it is going to take some time until my body adjusts back to normal. I am afraid that my weight is not going to get back to normal. I look like during my period. I always had flat stomach, and now my stomach looks like i am 4-5 months pregnant. I would not recommend NuvaRing to anyone. I would recommend pills, my friends that are on the pill did not have bad experience that i did.I only hope my body is going to get back to normal.

Hey, am I glad I ran across this. I too had BAD experience with Lamictal; anything over 75mg gave me depressive / fatalistic dreams if I took it at night. Doctor suggested taking it in the morning, that helped, eventually up to 150mg. All this for *suspected* bipolar II. All that really happened is that the med flattened me out too much- I didn't care much about anything, no passion or motivation. Optimism? What's that? Then the OTHER fun part - coming OFF the drug. Whoooo boy. Wasn't so bad coming down from 150mg to about 75mg. THEN I got hit with a LOT of anger, anxiety, insomnia, tremors.... I wound up going into a Partial Hospitalization Program for 5 weeks. I am now 100% OFF Lamictal. Thank God.

I started the ring and about a week later got intense itchiness and break through bleeding. It was supposed to be time for my period, and I thought since I timed it wrong possibly I was going to have it anyways. So I took the ring out. The itchiness went away immediately. Also, I could NEVER get the ring all the way in. It dropped down considerably, and I made many attempts to move it. Two days after I took the ring out I had HORRIBLE depression, thoughts of suicide and self harm. Also I was exhausted but unable to sleep. I feel a bit better, and I have no idea what it's half life is and if it will wear off, or if a new medication is needed to rebalanced the hormones. I hope not, as I had a bad experience with hormone balancing medications in the past.

I am trying to spread the word on this drug, Avelox! It is poison and needs to be taken off the shelf.
We all need to complain to Bayer and the FDA. Although I am sure the FDA knew about all these side effects when they gave their stamp of approval on this one. It's all a business. They don't care how many people they kill as long as they make a buck!!!!!!!
Please take the time to share your bad experience with the drug with my readers so we can pass the word on this BAD drug.

I had very bad experience on Yaz (which I know isn't exactly the same at Yasmin, but they are sister pills). If you need help in your recovery process, I'd recommend you visit http://www.createforum.com/yasminsideeffec/viewforum.php?f=1&mforum=yasminsideeffec. There is a lot of great info and support on that site.

I am telling the story of what has happened to my wife on YAZ....
My wife is a 23 year old female, previously in good health, 5'5", 120 lbs, and a non-smoker. In January 2008 she gave birth to our amazing daughter. She has rebounded back to the same shape as she was before birth. Well originally, she had the non-hormonal IUD implant for birth control. Her body rejected it and it had to be removed after about 2-3 months. After it being removed, the Doctor recommended she take this new birth control YAZ, because my wife had previous problems with hormonal birth controls.
Well, my wife started taking YAZ. Late summer 2008, my wife began complaining about feeling tired and weak all the time. She went to the doctor a few times about it and they could not determine the cause. Well, in December of 2008, while working her job as an EMT on an ambulance, my wife began feeling light headed and weak. They put her on the cardiac monitor and found her resting heart rate to be 160 BPM. They immediately rushed her to the ER.
The ER doctor immediately admitted my wife into the INTENSIVE CARE UNIT! After a couple days, they determined that she had micro pulmonary embolisms (blood clots in the lungs) that they believed were caused by YAZ. They informed her that they were a known side effect of YAZ. Well due to her heart trying so much harder to push the blood around the clots, he heart became weakend and began heart failure. Her Ejection Fraction was at 30%, which is about equal to a 70 year old in heart failure. A normal ejection fraction is 65%. The heart is a non-repairing muscle.
As a result of this condition, she was prevented from working by her doctor, she cant drive, and cannot be alone for fear that her heart will stop. Well, of course the FMLA has now run out (March 2009) and her work has informed her they don't intend on letting her come back and her Doctor will not allow her to go back. I am currently working overseas as a US Department of Defense security contractor just to try and make ends meet. Because of the current economy, I cant even come home to take care of my wife and daughter because we wont be able to afford to live.
I encourage everyone to avoid this medication. Please don't let your life get ruined by this birth control. My wife is 23, may need a heart transplant, or may die at anytime and I cant even come home to take care of her. This medication has ruined our lives.

I don't want to lose my sex drive, I don't want to lose my hair, I don't want severe acne and I don't want to be miserable, depressed or tired. Help me! Any suggestions instead? Or should I get switched to a different pill?

I just wanted to update everyone with the removal of my iud. I found this comment page when I was googling my symptoms about three months ago and I still had the iud after about two years of hell. I was beginning to feel like I was losing my mind at that point, crazy feelings, slurred speech towards the end of it even, memory loss, anxiety daily.... the list goes on!!!!
I have to say the day I had it removed I started to feel better. it has been approximately three months and things haven improved tremendously but I think it will take me a long time to get over the thoughts and severe depression I had while I had it in. To anyone that had a bad experience with this device I am so sorry for what you all have been through it was awful for me. Please have it removed as soon as possible if you are having any symptoms like myself and others that have commented on this website.

Thus far my experience has been good. I've had it several months now and not much to complain about. Previous to Mirena I had the Paraguard and THAT was a nightmare because my periods were very heavy and I am anemic so it wasn't a great match, and oral contraceptives and I never got a long. So the low dose has been good so far..... The only complaint I guess would be the super uncomfortable insertion, but it hurt as bad getting the Paraguard. It's just not nice having things shoved through your cervix! LOL :-)
I hope I don't end up with any of the symptoms I am reading about here!
For those of your considering the Mirena, like I said, so far I've really liked it and I think something to keep in mind is most people who are on here are probably on here because they've had such a bad experience with it. Most people who are happy (like I am) with it wouldn't bother to post online about it. I just happen to be bored and my husband is watching basketball, again! Ha ha ha. Talk to your Dr. and decide what will work best for you. I think taking the pill is the easiest if it works for you...it just didn't for me!

Doctor prescribed 500mg 1x day for Upper Respiratory Infection. I took it the first 7 days. I experienced insomnia, anxiety, loss of taste and smell and loss of appetite. After a meal, food just sat there and bloated my stomach for 10 hours. I also was shocked to experience increased sexual desire and that is the last thing I wanted while in the dark mental state of panic induced by Levaquin. It's a horrible drug.
I found this site and stopped taking it. I called the doctor, who said he did not agree that Levaquin caused those symptoms. It's time for a new doctor.
I have read the dreadful Levaquin experiences of others here. May some good come out of the suffering of these folks and may this site serving as a warning to prevent others in the future from ever taking Levaquin. God bless everyone.

Its not bad for everyone.I did find this site before I had my mirena put in and it definitely freaked me out. My mom knew of 3-4 women that have had the Mirena put in with out a single problem, and I talked to my doctor about my worries as well, and she said out of all the women (I think she said over 2,00) she has given a Mirena, she only knew of 1 that had a problem. So, I am 22 years old, I've never been pregnant, and I decided to have the Mirena inserted, even after I read the posts on this website. I did find 1 or 2 posts then, that said they had no problem, so I wanted to get on here and give my experience. YES there was extreme pain when it was inserted because I've never given birth, but beyond that, I had minor cramping the next day, and some light spotting here and there. I have had my Mirena for 2 months now, with no big complaints. I haven't even had a period (unless you count really light spotting for a couple days?) But with all these complaints on here, I wanted to give my opinion, that I have not have a bad experience at all. I will definitely keep in mind all these issues that women have had, just in case, but so far so good :)

I have been taking zoloft for 14 years for panic disorder with mild depression. various doses, but now im at 200 mg, and have been at that dose for a long time. it was like a lifesaver from my previous med, imipramine. i did have really vivid dreams, weird ones, for a long time, but not so much anymore. i think that the long term effect of taking it has taken a toll on my mental clarity/concentration, though. I feel like i can't concentrate on anything or complete a thought anymore. even typing this i feel like i'm getting lost. like i'm constantly in a fog. or it could be that i have 5 month old twins, lol, i guess. but really, its never been this bad.
i too feel like i have had some loss of emotion, not feeling sad when its completely appropriate to. and i've also had way too much emotion at the wrong times, flying off the handle at people and such. the worst thing is my dr. would ask me "what makes you happy, what do you do for fun?" and i would just stare at him with a blank look cause i had no idea what that felt like anymore. or maybe i couldn't think enough to answer him. physically i think zoloft makes me twitch - eye twitches, nose twitches, throat clearing. and i can't have an orgasm to save my life :(
recently i've been having some breakthrough anxiety and my dr. wants to add wellbutrin to the zoloft. if anyone has experience with this please send me a message. i'm kind of scared to do it.

I was put on Depakote for my migraines after I had a bad experience with Topamax. It helped great with my migraines, but the weight I gained from being on it was not worth it. I have not taken it in probably 3 years, but I still cannot get my weight back to what it was before. I have always been one of those people who couldn't gain weight. Well, thanks to depakote, I am now one of those people who can't keep from gaining weight. I wish I was never introduced to the drug. I stopped taking it on my own, and my migraines are fine now. I have them sometimes but not every day.
