I had tried the ring back in august or September of 2008 for less than a week. I went without a period and a pregnancy till March of 2009. No dr knew why on either. I bled for 3 months. I kid you not. I have finally started to taper off and was diagnosed with bacterial vaginosis, cervicitis, and pelvic inflammatory disease. (PID) Up until the other day, I was still throwing clots. Luckily, they were much smaller than when it all started because those clots were as big as my fist. (About the size of a baseball, maybe a little smaller) But the last few days I was hurting so badly I had to go to the ER today. I was also having horrible depression to the point of wondering why I was even with my husband! I love him with all my heart and our daughter as well, why would I want to leave them?

I have a 2 yr old and I could not function enough for my husband to be able to leave the house because of the pain. I was put on two antibiotics and an anti nausea pill because the antibiotics prescribed are known for that side effect. But better nauseated than sterile since mu husband and I are wanting more kids. I don't suggest the ring for anyone because it's played hell with me especially knowing that the ring has even caused menopause and sterility as well as other worse issues.

June 27/09
I am 65 yrs , very active. Play hockey, baseball, slopitch, and jog.
Started on Lipitor 10gm about 5 years ago. About 6 months later increased to 20gm. about 1 years later increased to 40 gm. Did not really notice any side effects. During that time cholesterol dropped from approx in Aug2005 to 8.01: ; Jan06 to 6.37:; Apr06 to 5.3 ; May09 @ 4.2. No problems noticed while on 40s for about 2 years.
June09 doctor increased to 80 gm !? Started to notice muscle cramps and pain . Also started to notice some stomach upsets.Thought I had strained a hamstring muscle from hard running acceleration but not sure now after reading some of the comments. Three days ago , although I always stretch for 1/2 to 3/4 an hour before every baseball which I play 4 times a week, I had very severe muscle cramps suddenly above my calf muscle just below the knee as I started to run to 1st base. I played the rest of the game but in pain and could not run hard . Could not sprint on my toes as I always did , so had to run about half speed but flat footed on the bases but painful,as we had only 9 players. Had hot shower Thursday night after game, massaged calf area with Wintercrest ointment. Got up this morning Friday , muscle sore but can walk on my toes. Tonight @ midnight slight soreness but most of the pain gone. I was thinking that I might have strained a calf muscle playing baseball but noway! I think it has to do with the doubling of the Lipitor from 40 to 80!!!! Will cut back back to 40 gm on my own till I see the doctor.
Will go to see my Doctor ASAP!!!

I had my Mirena put in April 2007 - wasn't that painful at all, didn't have any real side effect (so I thought anyway). I has spotting for first couple weeks then nothing. No periods at since May 2007!! But I noticed after the first of this year that my hair was falling out, I always have abdominal pain and cramps. I ended up in the ER this week with severe pain thinking I had appendicitis or something - turns out its an ovarian cyst the size of almost a baseball! The doctor explained it would go away with my "cycle" but since I have NO PERIOD that isn't going to happen and it's to large to reabsorb so I now have to have a surgery to get the cyst removed. THE IUD IS COMING OUT ASAP. Have an appointment Friday.....I'm in so much pain from the cyst though I doubt I'll be able to handle it being removed....if not then right after that surgery it's going, going, GONE! I'd rather have another baby!

I have posted here before when suffering the severe leg pain. I took pain meds for 2 months and it seemed to have subsided. Then, 10 days ago, right beneath my achilles tendon pain, on the side of my foot, under my ankle bone., started giving me severe pain. I could not understand what happened, it hurt as if it was bruised. When I looked at the area hurting me, there was no bruising but was swollen so badly I looked like I had a baseball under my skin! I am having difficulty walking now. I have an awful feeling that I may have a ruptured tendon! I am seeing an orthopedist on Monday afternoon. Has anyone here had a tendon rupture? How would you describe it to be? I'd appreciate if anyone with experience like my own would email me asap!!!

I'm a 44 yr old female with asthma and since I stopped smoking 6 months ago my asthma got worse and doctor put me on Singulair about 6 weeks ago and have noticed many things.I have a lump on the base of my neck about the size of a baseball it wasn't there before i started taking Singulair. Also I have had several melt downs over stupid stuff and will cry over the smallest thing. My anger is very explosive. My body hurts and my heart races. I feel weak and sometimes like i'm going to pass out. It really scares me to the point I think I'm going crazy. My family has said my attitude has really changed since I started taking this drug. I'm not taking anymore of his drug. Singulair needs to come with more warnings than what they have now or take it off the market.

Meprozine worked for my abscessed tooth! I was in severe pain to the point of crawling the walls... I could not tell you which tooth was even hurting on Fri. when I went to the dentist. She had to numb my mouth to give me even a minutes relief. My cheek swelled the size of a baseball! Today it's the size of a plum.... I think I'll make it through this ordeal now, but without this medication I certainly would not have made it.

(A divorced father)
My son has been on Singulair now 5 years and I am in the middle of fighting to get him off. My son is now 7 years old and has been diagnosed with allergies (no test have been done which I find very odd), which leads to a case of mild asthma. This past weekend his mother forgot his Singular on Friday so I could not give him any till the next day, where we met at his soccer game. Saturday night I gave him his usual pill and thankfully due to his exhaustion from playing out side all day he went to sleep in 10 min. vs 3 hrs later which is the norm since Singulair seems to jack him up.
He also has red puffiness under his eyes - most likely allergies.
Seems depressed - just driving down the road and I look at him in the rear view mirror and he just sits and stares into space. When I ask what's wrong he either says nothing or I am tired.
He will try to tell a story or think for himself and just stops mid sentence and says " never mind I am just confused"
He will be having fun one moment and just starts crying or gets depressed.
He was throwing a ball in the house (yes I know) and accidentally knocked a glass over breaking it - he went running to his room, crawled under his bed and sobbed profusely for over 30 min.
He has a hard time doing / focusing on homework - becomes bored very easily.
Does not want to go outside. I will take him to allot of cultural events/ hands on or participation events - he will not try anything. He is unsure and will not come out of his box so to speak.
I spoke with his doctor who was reluctant to take him off, but then agreed that if it was OK with the ex, to take him off for a week to see what happens.
The fun part: My ex is convinced that since he has been on Singulair for 5 years he is fine and does not need to come off it.

1.) Son is diagnosed with mild asthma or allergy induced asthma.
He has never had an allergy test done and has not had a lung function test in over a year.

2.) It is documented that our son has four outbreaks a year. (sounds like the changing of the seasons) but is given Singulair all year round and the dosage has also been increased.

3.) Since the court order, ordered my ex to enroll our son in sports (she would not let him play anything) he does not wheeze or cough uncontrollably.

4.) Since I had to battle to get our son on my insurance I have cut her control issues off a little, but she is refusing to take him off Singular just for a week to see how he reacts. Although I do agree that he should have some form of allergies medicine.

5.) When I found out about the side effects of Singulair, I also found that his doctor was getting ready to add two other allergy medicines to his portfolio - totaling 3 different meds.

I see our sons behavior getting worse and I watch him turn into something he is not and with a controlling individual not believing anything about the side effects it looks like I will have to rely on the medical system to prove my point. I do believe he needs to be accurately tested for allergies and given a regularly lung function test but most of all since he is now on my insurance, a second opinion and a 3rd to narrow down what the situation is and an alternative medical procedure that is fit for the symptoms.

My son is off singulair for two weeks now and is showing improvements. He was on it for 7 years and at the beginning we blamed it on steriods, even though his dose was low. When he went off the steroids, the behavior didn't stop. I questioned the allerist if the singulair could be doing it, but was told no, it doesn't have those side effects. I don't blame the doctors because they weren't given the info. He was extremely emotional, cried for no reason, had no confidence, didn't like himself. We on more than one occasion have told his older sister that when he hits his teenage years we would have to watch him for suicide, as his reaction to problems was sooo out of whack! He was on motrin for headaches 4-5 days a week(blamed it on sinusses). Unexplained stomachaches. These symptoms came on over years, not right away. I have always thought that the steroids had done damage because he took them when he was so young. Until the news reports hit, and I started reading other people's stories and doing the "OMG, that's my kid!", I never put the problems on singulair. I was still skeptical, but took him off. His symptoms immediately got 100x's worse for a week. But funny thing is, his headaches are gone, his stomachaches are gone and he seems much less emotional. The strangest thing is, EVERY night, he comes in to kiss us good night 7 or 8 times, and sometimes by the 7th time he is crying and can't explain why. This has been going on for YEARS, EVERYNIGHT, never a break. It stopped! Just stopped cold 7 days ago. Comes in once, says goodnight, leaves and falls asleep. I know this isn't a coincidence. After years of wondering what's wrong with my kid, now I feel like I've been poisoning my him for 7 years. I'm not skeptical anymore.

My son 10, has been on Singulair since he was 4 yrs old for Asthma and allergies. His last dose was 3/26/08. He has always been my emotional child, he is 2yrs older than this younger brother. Some of his side effects included headaches, stomaches, leg cramps, emotional breakdowns, major mood swings, crying outbursts over small situations, night sweats, lack of motivation, weight gain, ADHD, wishing he were dead and the list goes on. His younger brother has always been involved in sports but he was always too afraid he would get hurt. This medication has robbed my 10 yr old son from 6 yrs of his childhood. Since he has been off Singulair he feels motivated and looks forward to joining the football team his younger brother plays for. I look forward to meeting this new young man who for so long has been hiding behind this so called allergy medicine. I am so thankful to know that my son can look forward to a bright future without these side effects. God Bless you all who are going through this as well.

Both of our children have been taking Singulair since the ages of 2 & 3 due to severe indoor/outdoor allergies. One is now 8 & the other is 5. They have never experienced any side effects. On the contrary, this medicine has helped them. They are now able to play outdoors without breathing problems and are able to sleep through the night without coughing. Our son is enjoying playing baseball & soccer and our daughter enjoys dancing. They are both very athletic, outgoing and bright in school. They have their 'normal' fits that are part of being children. People actually have commented on how well behaved they are for their ages. We feel blessed that our children have thrived on this medication and hope that others have also benefited from it. I pray that the families with children having the side effects are able to find something that can help them and we hope that if there are other contributing factors for the children's behavior that they be addressed and remedied.

Well... I have a 6 week old son and am looking for a new form of birth control. I had blood clots during my pregnancy, so I can never be on things like the pill, the patch, the shot or the ring. Our only options really are condoms or an IUD. At my 6 week PP check up today, my doctor strongly recommended Mirena. After reading this I am not too sure of what I should do. I just can't imagine using condoms for the sole purpose of not getting pregnant over the next 2-3 years with my husband of 4 years. What should I do?

I have read most of the postings on Yasmin but I haven't seen one where women pointed out experiencing terrible amounts of clots and incredible amounts of actual mensing... So it makes me wonder if I have another underlying condition? I have been taking Yasmin for about18 days now, started on my first day of mensing, and 18 days later, still mensing like there is no tomorrow and passing clots the size of the palm of my hands at times!!! It's unreal! And I went and bought 3 packages, I wanted to finish one and see but I think it's all gonna go to garbage now!! And to say I use to have a 30 day cycle with 2 days of pre-spotting followed by 3 days of actual mensing... some clots but not half as big and certainly not as many!!! Very disappointed with Yasmin. I am done with it.

I've been taking this pill for 7 MONTHS now. Previously the side effects seemed pretty negligible--I had a bit of spotting--and though the "blood" was disconcertingly "clumpy" (sorry for the graphics)--I've had spotting with every other pill I've used too. Recently, though, the spotting has turned into full periods! I have about a week and a half of nothing and then a constant mess. As of day before yesterday the cramps and bloating are also in full effect. I'm calling the doctor tomorrow because I got on the pill mainly to control the pain and now not only am I constantly bleeding...but it's these strange dark clumps! Once again, sorry to be so specific, but has anyone else experienced this? It's truly mortifying when I'm with my boyfriend...

Anyone experience problems with drinking beer, wine, alcohol? Beer is undesirable since it tastes flat. Last night drank it anyway celebrating my son's baseball win with the team. Did't even finish the beer because it just tasted so bad. Felt awful all day today as a migraine ensued. Few weeks ago drank Wine. It tasted okay, yet I woke up during the night violently ill, diarrhea and vomiting (great - huh?)- So now I am afraid to drink alcoholic beverages. Am I alone here? has any one else had this problem?

I received a Kenalog injection in December '06 to provide relief from an allergic reaction. My doctor did NOT inform me of any possible side effects other than drowsiness. Two months later a small dipple formed where the shot was given. I had no idea what it was and just assumed it was a part of getting older (I'm 30). When it began to get deeper, I became extremely worried. It has now been 6 months and the dimple has turned into a very large indentation. I still did not put two and two together and did not think it could have been caused by the steroid injuection. I visited my doctor, the same one who administered the shot in December, to find out what this could possibly be. He said he had no idea!! And even suggested it could be cancer!!!! I came home upset, obviously, thinking I was very sick, possibly even dying!! My sister did some research and found this site, and I am so relieved. But now I am angry at my doctor for not warning me of this possible side effect at the time of the shot AND then diagnosing it as a possible cancer!!! So now I am left with this deformity on my butt and a profound feeling of helplessness. Someone please tell me actions you have taken that have worked, both legally and physically. Will this go away?!?

I've been on Warfarin since Dec 2006. I'm a big guy, 6'2 265. They have me on 12 mg daily to keep my INR in check. Only recently did i get to the one month period between INR tests. I'm 36 years old, likely 40 lbs overweight, formerly very active- played ice hoceky, competitive swimming, baseball, etc. Anyway foot surgery in Nov 2006 caused me to be in a cast which led to extensive DVT's which led to an almost fatal very significant PE in my right lung. Lost 15 lbs on the hospital which I since gained back...think that was just portion control. anyway having a tough time realizing if the warfarin is actually giving me side-effects. Just walking for 45 minutes recently left my whole body sore. Sleep isn't what it used to be and my overall "focus" is not there. Also find my self forgetting things that I've always been quite sharp with. I'm scheduled to be off the coumadin in the coming months if my vascular surgeon says the DVT's are all healed. By the way, when I had the PE I never had real difficulty breathing. The doctors said I had very good lung capacity and that helped me. Anyway, just like some of the other posts I read- Can't wait to get back to being ME !

I started with 10mg Lipitor, then 20, now 40mg/day. I have experienced severe shoulder pain (can't lift the Tim Horton's tray from the drive-thru). I blamed this pain on baseball, hockey & golf). I even had a MRI on my left shoulder. The pain was worse before bed (after Lipitor)....Pain was tolerable in the mornings. I've also had pain in other joints. I will be going off Lipitor immediately and will repost in one month with pain update.

My doctor just prescribed Zocor to me on 12/22/04. He did not even check my cholestrol. I'm a diabetetic. My sugar has been around 400. I went 2 weeks without meds. My doctor would not prescribe me with any meds, since I had to rescedule an appointment to see him. I was reading some of these complaints about Zocor, and I was shocked. A lot of the complainees, are on 20 mg or less. My doctor has me doing 40 mg. I only took it once. I think I will learn from you folks' mistakes. I'm starting to think I may have a quack for a doctor. He misdiagnosed me, when I had lymphoma. When I had sensations of being choked and pressure in my head, he said it was allergies. 6 months later, I complained again about the same simtoms, he said it was asthma. I was forced to go to the hospital, when I almost passed out while driving my truck. After a 10 hour visit at the emergency room and numorous tests, I was found to have a tumor the size of a baseball next to my heart. The tumor was pushing on my wind pipe and the major artery that supplies blood to the right side of my body. I was stage 4. As for side effects of Zocor, I'm going to hold off on using Zocor, so I don't get any.

i started Yasmin about a month ago. About a week and a half into the pack I noticed that I was retaining alot of water and that my acne was worse (i thought that this pill was suppose to help alleviate these symptoms). I decided to stop them that day. About 4 days later I got what I thought was a period. By the end of the first day I thought I was going to die! I was bleeding so bad that I could not get off the toilet. I was passing clots the circumference of a baseball!
I called the Dr. who said that I was 1 of 3 people that she had prescribed Yasmin to that did the opposite of what it was suppose to do. She said to try and ride it out while the horomone gets out of my system. I am so tired and weak from the loss of blood. The iron pills do not seem to be helping much. Today is the 5th day and it seems to be letting up a little bit. Am still very tired though. Bad pills!!!!
