Im a male 48 yrs old and took generic wellbutrin (bupropion HCL XL) at 300mg a day for 3 months.

I had thin and receding hair before treatment but hair loss on the top of my head after taking this has been dramatic. My hair went from thin on the top to the point where I could see 3/4 of my scalp on top. I now notice running my hand through my hair will pull one or two strands per pass.

I went on a strict weight loss program and dropped 30 lbs and wondered if that was the cause. In any event I developed ringing in the ears tinnitus so I have just discontinued taking bupropion. Too bad as it had been a great help with depression and ADD.

I tapered from 300 mg to 150 mg a day for one week and am now off it completely for 2 days - worlds easier than going off Effexor (horrible withdrawal).

My doctor recommended 5mg Biotin (Vit. B) to help with the hair loss. Like the rest of you I am left wondering if my poor hair will come back. I have always looked young for my age but no longer. I have grown a beard to keep my face from taking over but I do miss the hair on the top of my head.

Hello! I am 26 and a mother of 3 boys. I had C sections with all of them so since I didn't dilate insertion of Mirena was quite painful. I had it inserted 9/29/2008. The first few months were not bad. Had a period like every other month and spotted the ones in between. Starting in April-May I was having labor type pains so I called her, she checked it and I had an ultrasound, all LOOKED good. Well here I am 06/17/2009 and I have just made an appointment for removal! I feel like crap. I'm excessively bitchy, and I feel preggo! Bloated, crampy, and fatigued. I'm just tired of it. The nurse had told me I continue to have issues I can get it removed and then if I still have issues to go to my Primary Care Doctor. I know its the Mirena. I will just have to prove it when I have it taken out and I see her again for my yearly in Sept. The doctor is so sweet but the nurse makes me feel like I'm just complaining. I just hope I return to normal after.

Can anyone email me who has had it taken out and tell me how you feel after?
******

Thanks!

Hi, I googled Yasmin as, like GM/Gabrielle, I have problems with hyperpigmentation on my upper lip and my chin (making me look like I have the beginnings of a beard and a mustache, highly attractive!!) I took Yasmin for about a year from 2002-3. I have surfed the net before at various points curious about Yasmin, but decided that I was just unlucky in taking Yasmin and it was one of those things. Having read all the posts here I am disgusted that this drug is available at all. Yes, we are all guinea pigs and yes, the doctors who prescribe this medication and others like it have no idea of the long term effects or maybe they are not really that bothered? How the hell are they made available anyway? Pharmaceutical companies literally get away with murder, to say nothing of their moral responsibility with regard to vivisection. As soon as I started to notice the pigmentation and connected it with the Yasmin I saw my doctor who immediately took me off it,warning me that it shouldn't get any worse but it may not go away. It does get worse if exposed to any sun, so I use a strong sublock and skin lightening cream all year round which thus far has only lightened the skin slightly (I live in the UK). I'm getting married this year and it will be a shame to feel self conscious about my skin, but having read these posts I feel so lucky to only have this to "worry" about - this is minor in comparison to life threatening blood clots. My grandmother died from thrombosis - maybe my vanity on this occasion has saved my life.

0This is a followup to an email I sent on July 22nd about my mirena experiences. see samsmom on on July 22 for original email.)

I AM SO HAPPY!!!!!

I got in early with my ob/gyn, she had a cancellation!! WOO WOO!!

That was on Monday, July 28th. I cannot tell you how good it felt to get out. No really, when they pulled it out it cramped for a second, but it felt like my body breathed after that. You know what it feels like when you get a kernel of popcorn out off your teeth and how relieved your gums feel after you finally get it out. Well that was the feeling!!

My hand to GOD--by Tuesday, the fogginess I was feeling in my head was gone. I sneezed all night long Monday night and my nose ran like the dickens, but I think that the sinusitis I started to get (never had it before mirena) was actually draining itself out of my head. NO longer did my face feel like there were rocks in it, no longer did I feel like I was walking around in an out of body experience type state. I even felt less mean and moody. These were my instant results.

I am looking forward to weight loss again, this is the biggest I have ever been (excpet pregnancy 143), I am now 130. But I am not as VORACIOUSLY hungry anymore--and the sweets craving is gone.

I forgot to post this, but I also noticed when mirena was in that I was getting facial hair on my chin (like a guy). Not like a beard, but a few stray whiskers here and there that seemed to grow back like weeds. Unfortunately I cannot say that getting rid of mirena stopped the whiskers, because I got them lasered---but that was how bad it was. A lot of unusual hair pattern growth issues in women are linked to hormones. Also what I find interesting is how can the progestine time release in mirena be a one-size-fit-all for women. I mean you have women who are 6 feet and 150 lbs and 4.5 feet women who weigh 90. Does that mean there bodies are equipped to handle the same dosage? HMMMMMM Questions I should have asked.

I hope you consider getting yours removed. I hope that you see results like mine. I feel more in tuned to life, my son and my husband. More energy, less anxious and stressful, the night time nausea and dizziness is totally gone!

Take care!

I've been on Yasmin for just over a year and I cannot complain. I began taking it to relieve severe endometriosis symptoms, and it has truly been outstanding in that capacity. It has also cleared up the "beard" of acne that I had on my chin and around my mouth. During the first 2 months I had nausea, dizziness, and moodiness, but it has since gone and I have no complaints at this time. Just thought you might like to see a positive experience!

My husband was put on 80 mg Prednison last Thursday - I was out of town for the weekend. When I returned on Sunday, he had shaved off his beard and was in a manic state. His MD is beginning to wean him - he is now on 40 mg/day, but he continues to be manic, sleeps only a couple hours/night, believes he and God are having non-stop conversations and God is telling him what to do, is organizing various committees in our community - and about twice a day, breaks into tears! How long will this last? Anybody have any idea?
