16 yr old daughter was given 1st injection in June 2008, her arm ached for several days thereafter. We never took her for her second injection since the various side effects were mentioned on the news shortly after the first injection. Daughters medical history was unremarkable prior to the Gardasil injection. Within a few weeks of the injection my daughter was at a concert with friends when she became dizzy, lightheaded, nauseated, having chest pains with a squeezing sensation, heart racing so fast she said she thought it was going to jump out of her chest. In November 2008 the same symptoms appeared again and my daughter passed out at the local Mall. Now, last week April 16, 2009 my daughter was at home when these same symptoms presented and wife rushed her to hospital. She was having SVT's (Supra Ventricular Tachycardia) with a heart rate of 283!. The ER staff quickly went into action and attempted to Cardiovert her (Shock Her Heart) into a normal sinus rhythm. After three unsuccessful attempts they finally was able to bring her heart rate down to a manageable level (150 beats per minute) by the use of the drug Lopressor. She is now home and doing fine but is on the cardiac drug, Toprol XL to keep her heart rate down to the high 80's and low 90's. We are to see a Pediatric Cardiologist on April 29, 2009.

I started a new job in January as a nurse and started to experience what I thought were stress attacks. I always new I had a fast heart rate 124 beats per minute at times but just thought it was the way my body was. So for the last few months I have been angry, tired, had heart palpitations through out the day and just have been feeling miserable. I have been on Yasmin for 4 years. The other day at work I felt my heart pounding in my chest and checked my heart rate and it was 140 beats per minute, my blood pressure was up (I normally have low bp) and I felt dizzy. I went to my GP after work and he suggested seeing a heart specialist as I was in sinus tachycardia. I decided to do some research into whether Yasmin could cause these symptoms as I felt there must be a reason. I am so glad that I found this sight!
I am an emotional reck at the moment and am so tired!

I am a 24 year old female. I got diagnosed with walking pneumonia after having a chest X ray at my doctors office. The doctor prescribed z-pak. I went home and took the first 2 pills and about 2-3 hours after taking it I suddenly experienced uncontrolled rapid heart rate. My heart was pounding so hard i almost fainted. I work in the medical field, and knew immediately that I was in trouble. My husband drove me to the ER, where I was admitted with a heart rate of 186 beats per minute, I honestly felt like i was going to faint, or die. Once they ran several tests and ruled out anything major IE blood clot, they determined I was having an extreme allergic reaction to the z-pak. They gave me IV benadryl and steroids, which immediately started to bring my heart rate down. I do not take any medications ever, other than supplements, this is the first time in 9 years that I have had to take an antibiotic, and this was the only prescription I was taking that day.

I have been on antipsychotic medicines for like 14 years now I have been on every one there is and im only 23. A couple of years ago I was put on zyprexa for my ptsd, the nightmares, and the phobias and it really work well but it made me gain so much weight that the doctor switched me to Seroquel and i was on that for years but the side effects were awful. I still gained weight and the nightmares were getting even worse. And after I would take them I couldnt swallow and my heart rate would go up to like 120 beats per minute just lying down. I kept telling my doctor that it made me feel so weird like I was having a heart attack but he said that the medicine didnt do that but the second I stopped taking it (which I decided on my own) my heart felt so much better. It seems like the medicines for these kinds of disorders have the worst side effects of any medications out there. What is horrible is without them I feel like I am losing my mind. So I have no idea what to do.

At a dermatologist, I was treated for seborrheic dermatitis with shots of Kenalog. I received 4 shots, the last two were 40 mg each - 2 weeks apart. I started experiencing skipped heart beats that have become very annoying. Sometimes my heart skips 7 beats per minute. I have no other side effects at the moment. Before receiving the first shot I asked about any side effects. The nurse told me I could have trouble sleeping the first night and may feel excited. NOTHING about heart arrhythmias. I went to my family doctor who took an EKG that showed PVC and I wore a holter monitor for 24 hours. I also called the dermatologist and explained the situation. The nurse confirmed that yes arrhythmias are a side effect of this shot.

My 11 year old daughter had been seen by a doctor to control coughing and wheezing brought on, I believe, by allergies. When she was 5 or 6 years old, she had an asthma attack and it happened again this year when we could not control the coughing and she was short of breath. That is when Singulair was introduced to her. about 4 weeks after taking medication, her heart started beating irregularly (called heart palpitations), and she was experiencing chest pains. (very frightening for mother and daughter). The Coughing subsided, and she was feeling good prior to the last week, when this started happening. After all the researching, the minor side effect is palpitations, however, how healthy is this and what else is going to pop up unexpectedly?

I started taking Singulair and the first two days I felt better, but by the 3rd day I started feeling like I was trying to get sick. By day 8 I was in the Emergency Room with a very rapid heartbeat (166 beats per minute), and a severe Upper Respiratory Infection. They did blood and urine work, chest x-rays, CAT Scan, etc. and found nothing wrong with me. I kept telling them that I was having a reaction to the Singulair, and even though they never actually admitted it, they did say it was possible. I KNOW it was Singulair. I will NEVER take it again. They need to take it off the market. I was in the hospital for 3 days because of this dangerous drug!

I was put on Diovan and was okay in the beginning. But then I noticed when I would just get up and walk around my heart would race. The other night I took my blood pressure which was fine, but I knew my heart was racing, it was 105 beats per minute, I felt exhausted, and worn out and plain tired. I need to be on a Beta Blocker so I went back on my Atenolol. I also would be out, if I turned to quickly, my head would take a spin and I would have to grab something to keep from falling down. I'm one of those people out there if there is a side effect to have it will be me. D.S.S.

I've been taking Cephalin Monohydrate now for two days: one every hour and my heart seeded up a double (up to 120 beats per minute). I'm taking it tonight cause I afraid I might have a heart attack if my heart beats get faster. I stopped taking now for nine hours and my heart beats are getting back to normal little by little.
Hope this could help you.

I took Chantix for about a month. It lessened my cravings to smoke, but I started getting heart palpitations really bad. I ended up in the ER one day and the Dr. told me that he had never seen that side effect. He looked up the side effects in his palm pilot, and found that it was the very last side effect in the list. I decided to get off Chantix to see if that would help. Well now I'm going to be on Toprol for the rest of my life. They won't say for certain whether it was the Chanitix that caused it or not. Coincidence? I'm not sure. All I know, is that my heart was completely fine before it, and now if I am an hour late taking the Toprol my heart goes insane. My cardiologist has no clue what happened (I've been to two). I'm only 33 years old, and taking this medication for the rest of my life.
Has anyone experienced heart palpitations after starting Chantix?

Strattera was terrible. I do not recommend this drug or any other drug that just came out. Adderall and Ritalin and such might be more likely for abuse but those have been around for years and years and at least you know the worst that you can happen to you.

Strattera made me depressed and tired. Made me concentrate even less than normal. My heart rate would be at about 125 beats per minute and I'd be sweating buckets when normally I'm cold easily and prefer hotter climate. The next minute I'd be freezing cold with chills all over my body. Nausea was extreme as well as the urge to vomit. The thought of food made me sick. It gave me blurred vision.

I wasn't able to do anything but sit at home and hope it would pass.

DO NOT TAKE THIS DRUG.

I am 52 years old and switched to Singulair last Fall for severe allergies. I have taken all others on the market and have exhausted the list. Since starting Singulair I have had chronic ear infections, the first since I was 11 years old. Have also had a mild cardiac arrhythmia accelerate to a severe state, for no apparent reason, and cannot get under control with the usually curative medications. All cardiac testing proves negative, other than crazy ECG's showing nearly every beat to be premature and weak. Has anyone heard of this side effect?

one year and seven months ago i was given a coarse of laviquin--750 mg--for seven days.after 5 days I was so sick i thought i would die and at times wanted to--I had severe depression, diarea, musle pain a weakness, ancles ,knees, back and shoulders hurt so bad that I had trouble getting out of bed. my heart was raceing at 120 beats per minute and blood pressure was very high. I also had a lot of pain in my butt muscles and could not sleep, then I got to where i could not breathe and had to go to the E R

now it has been over a year and a half and still have trouble walking because of pain in knees and ancles. shoulders are sore all the time and I can not sleep more then a couple of hours at a time. my butt hurts so bad that I can not sit in a recliner for over an hour with out extreame pain.. I changed doctors now tree times and none of them will consider that the laviguin was the cause. the last one did send me to a hospital for a rectal exam but they found no problem. now that I know what caused the problem, the depression is most replaced by anger. this drug should be recalled and the drug companys should be made to pay for our care. I am 67 years old and been in pain now all that time and think I will never be the same again. my advise would be---DON'T TAKE THIS POISON--AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Let me just say, if you are thinking of starting Toprol then you need to consider this. It works great at lowering your heart rate, but it also with make you gain weight, have anxiety attacks, severe shortness of breath, insomnia, and a low libido. Your doctor's are not going to tell you this and will blame all the side effects on other things. At least that was my experience and what seems to be many other experiences according to this site. I was put on Toprol due to an elevated heart rate (186 beats per minute) that was caused by being severly anemic. Now other than being anemic, I was a completely healthy and fit 29 year-old female without any other heart problems. After being on 100 mg of Toprol for 4 days I would periodically feel a dull pain in my chest and would get extremely pale. On the 6th day, the pain was so bad I went to the emergency room, they told me that it was just an anxiety attack. Up until this point in my life, I had never experienced any sort of anxiety or depression and could not think of anything that would cause it (no stress in life, great marriage, etc.) After the visit to the ER, I decided to reduce my Toprol down to 50 mg a day to see if that helped my problem any. After reducing my meds, I felt 85% better. No chest pains. Well, I'm not one to take medication for long periods of time (I think in the long run they can sometimes cause more harm than help) and since I was only to take the Toprol until my anemia was under control, I decided recently to start to wean myself off (without doctor's consent.) I am currently down to 25 mg a day, which hasn't been easy. I've tried to move down to 12.5 a day, but have trouble sleeping and feel very anxious. I've been on Toprol for 2 months and I have gained 10 pounds (eat like I always have...fruits, veggies, whole wheat and lean meat) and have a low sex drive (never a problem before). I'm too young for this crap.

I have tightness and sharp pains in my chest that I have never experienced before taking Toprol XL 25 mg.

The medication was prescribed to slow my heart rate down. I was experiencing 140 beats per minute, but now I
have a regular bleed pressure and my heart rate is at an average. I feel extremely weird in the mornings. I am light headed and feel fatigue. The chest pain is somewhat constant
until I take my next dose of Toprol.

extreme anxiety, panic, impending doom, fear and tachycardia (heart racing) over 100 beats per minute. It was a terrible feeling for over 2 hours and then I finally got to sleep. This on top of being sick with an upper respiratory infection was almost too much to handle. I felt something was wrong after a few hours of taking the medication but I could not pinpoint the exact cause until reading from this site.

lisa...

my heart rate was fast and at around 90 to 120 beats per minute for a good 4 months after i got off yasmin.... no jokes it was an absolute nightmare i would be able to feel it pounding in my chest....
twice i went to hospital and both times they said it was nuthing and my job must be stressing me out... thats crap because i can deal with stress very well... actualy i work alot better under pressure...
now is my 5th month off yasmin and my heart rate has dropped to about 80-85 beats which is still kinda high but much better... normal is around 75-79 im told... although it depends on the person and how fit you are...
now i only get bad palpitatins when im ovulating and sometimes during the week leading up to my period....
dont panic i promise you it will get better its just a slow process... i found drinking lots of water helped me alot and taking big deep breaths helped open up my chest and airway....
i hope next month ill be able to say its gotten even better....
just try not to concentrate on ur heart beat all the time and whatever you do dont be like me and take your pulse a hundred times a day....ha ha ha i was bad!!!
you will be ok just hang in there

My heart is beating so fast I can't even count the beats per minute. I feel so scared. I've never had anything like this happen to me. I can't speak; my troat is to sore from coughing up mucous. I just sit here downing glasses of water hoping it will all stop and soon!

I WILL NEVER THIS THIS STUFF AGAIN!

I received an injection of Kenalog (40 mg in my right buttocks ) in November 2004. I had some sort of of rash under my eyes. The shot worked. The rash came back in February 2005 and again I was given an injection of Kenalog (1cc in my right buttocks). It was after this second shot that everything changed for me. The first obvious side effect to be directly identified with Kenalog was the Huge hole in my butt. I had Many other side effect for weeks and months to come that I didn't realize was the Kenalog till just this past week. I have had terrible night sweats for months, I have had a chronic yeast infection that no matter how much diflucan I take it doesn't go away. But the worst side effect is that my resting heart beat has been about 15 beats per minute more that it ever was and shoud be. I feel like there has been as excess of adrenaline running through my body 24/ 7. Hard to be inside my own sking these days. I also recently started to lose my hair. I just last week finally couldn't take the way I feel so, I went to see an endocronologist who said it is the reaction of the Kenalog. And told me this could last a year.
Has any one else out there experienced a rapid heartbeat and unbearable anxiety?????

Number 13 was the only one my doctor couldn't attribute directly to Prednisone.

Today I can add another to my list of side effects. My feet and ankles have swollen up huge.

A girl in the store yesterday said I looked very tired and unwell. People at work notice lots of the symptoms.

All this because of an acute asthma attack caused by other people smoking.

I've reduce the dosage by 5mg today and yesterday down from 50mg to 45mg and today I'm having a harder time breathing. Where does this all end?

It's all very depressing indeed.

I was on Yasmin for a month and a half with little side effects (lack of sex drive, that's about it). After the middle of the second pack, I started having heart palpitations. They went away the first time.

The second time it happened, I had to go to the ER. My heart was racing 200 beats per minute! I had a spend a WEEK in the hospital. The only thing that has changed in my life was the birth control. My gynocologist said it couldn't be the Yasmin.

The hospital said I can feel free to quit taking the Yasmin (which I did) but they didn't know if that was what was causing my problems.

My friend is a pharmicist and she has found some possible links to Yasmin and heart palpitations. Someone on these boards touched on it... it had to do with postassium levels getting depleted by the Yasmin and the heart racing accodingly. There's a dieretic (?) in the birth control that is supposed to keep water retention down. But, it can deplete your potassium levels which can cause heart palpitations.

The doctors diagnosed me with PSVT. I have two follow-ups the next two weeks.

I think it was the Yasmin and I hope that since I have stopped, the heart problems will, too. I'm on four pills a day and I hate it.

highly increased sense of awareness and focus, thought is trained better to things that seem more constructive - making them more entertaining and meaningful. a sense of wanting to accomplish everything that you feel will benefit you, and wanting to take it beyond your own expectations, even if impossible. lack of appetite. when taken at later hours, irregular sleeping patterns (sleep only a few hours a night , and still able to carry through the day normally, and get to sleep at a normal time the next day...)
phsyical performance relating to 'skill' is decreased.
the feeling of wanting to help everyone.
these desires to accomplish things are good feelings, and even when you can't go the extra two thousand miles, self confidence is still at a higher level.

i heard while pregnant and nursing, adderall should not be taken. (some adderall shows up in the breast milk.)

not a good idea to give to children under 12.

no idea where the voices in peoples heads are comming from, perhaps a part of their personality is revealed that they experience on seperate occassions.

increased hearing.

change in sexual performance

fast heartbeat (2 - 3x normal beats per minute)

heightened blood pressure

it's great for academic performance.
