I have two sons on Singulair, my three old was suspended today from pre-school for bad behavior. Screaming, biting, scratching, and hitting have been going on for the last few months. But worse the past two weeks. He has always been active and played like a boy, but he has been getting violent. We have tried positive reinforcement, praising good behavior both verbally and with rewards, I have tried time-out, being grounded, not being able to participate in activities, no t.v. and old fashioned butt spanking. All of this with no positive results. I am not looking for an excuse for my child's behavior, but could Singulair really be the cause of his aggression?

After reading the other posts, I was flabbergasted at the side effects posted. My sons 8 and 10 have been on this medication for two plus years after seeing a specialist for asthma and allergies. During that time, my younger son was sent to "family therapy" for behavioral problems at school. Bedwetting and nightmares began for both boys, as well as stomach aches and a huge weight increase. They are both active and in sports. Upon reading this information on your post, I was floored when I read another child said "My brain makes me do it". My youngest son says that all the time in response to bad behavior and I never understood why he would say such a thing. After talking to him and explaining that I was taking him off the meds immediately, my older son overheard the conversation and said he wanted to go off them as well right away. He explained he's been sad since taking them and didn't know why as there is nothing to be sad about. We are a close knit family who spends all their time together. Singulair has helped my oldest son's asthma, but I'm so upset at the other side effects and not having this information from the FDA. I've spend thousands of dollars in family therapy only to find out it's the drug my physican prescribes that causes the problem. Do not take Singulair!

My daughter has been on singulair since age 3. I can't believe all the side affects that other children are having on the medicine to. This answers so many questions for me. We have been battling with leg cramps, stomache pain, bedwetting and weight gain. My daughter instantly gained weight over night and is constantly hungry, I never could understand why and I have taken her to a gastrenologist and he never had a answer either. We went to a ENT for constant sinus infections. I had her tonsils removed and seems to be doing better. I definetly will be taking her off the medicine immediatly. She also has been having trouble in school, I wish I would have known about this sooner. I feel terrible about having her on this medicine all these years wich has caused nothing but pain and alot of doctor and hospital visits!!!!!!!!

My son is 4 1/2 and has been on singulair since he was 3. He was diagnosed with asthma at the age of 1. He too has occasional bouts of bedwetting, vivid imagination, dreams most everynight. (Not sure if they are nightmares) Has mood swings. Has digestive issues.
Has had 3 seizures, and medical tests cannot find any problems there. I believe it is caused by the Singulair as well. However, it has controlled his asthma quite well. He has only allergy trigerred attacks now, and very seldom. I will just have to seek God's guidance in what's best for him at this time, until he eventually, and prayerfully outgrows this. I ask God to guide you all in your search for answers. I will check back for updates.

God bless and be with you all.

My son has been on Singulair for 5 years - since he was 3. We never noticed a side effect. It appeared to be working for us. We recently moved to another part of the country and allergies and asthma has gotten much better so we took him off of it. He is fine - no trouble with asthma. Something else has happened. He has been a long time bedwetter and it suddenly has stopped. I would be interested to know if other kids have had bedwetting while on Singulair

My 8 1/2 year old had been off and on (mostly on)Singulair since he was 3 years old. It has always extremely effectively controlled his asthma. However, I am concerned about some symptoms that I believe may very well be side effects from this med.
He has trouble sleeping (esp. going to sleep), he struggles with daytime drowsiness (even after 10 hours sleep), he has rare occurances of bedwetting, frequent nose bleeds, and has dropped from the 75th percentile in hieght at age 3 to less than 10th percentile now. He also experiences frequent and severe mouth sores (apthous ulcers) that do not clear up easily.

6yo has been on Singulair and Nasonex for 2 years
I have kept him off his meds in mid Winter and Summer each time I restart him he has trouble with Bedwetting we thought it was just a phase until I recently restarted singulair only about a week ago he has wet the bed almost every night since. Last year when he was having trouble with bedwetting I started a log looking back now all of the accidents started shortly after restarting his singulair. After reading this board I have now connected a rash as well that has dissapeared after taking him off the meds and also can attribute aggressive behavior.
