My 12 year old son was given prednisone 2 and 1/2 years ago when he had a reaction to a bee sting. Almost immediately upon taking the drug he developed stomach problems and was out of school for almost a week with what we thought was the flu. He developed an anxiety of eating and became hypersensitive to food. We did not make a connection to prednisone, as our doctors did not indicate any. We just thought he had a stomach bug. Well for over 2 years now it has been one thing after another including nausea, headaches, dizziness, feeling weird/not himself and now it has accelerated to full blown panic attacks. It is completely interfering with his life. He has attacks at school and during all the activities that he enjoys. We just saw a psychiatrist a week ago that identified prednisone as the possible cause to these 2+ years of craziness. I want to take the correct next steps. He is currently prescribed an anti anxiety med to deal with the panic, just so he can function. What I want to know is how I can medically correct the damage that was done to his adrenal system or anything else that has become imbalanced. I don't want to just treat the symptoms. We need to get to the root of what has happened to him chemically that has caused such a drastic change his mood and how he thinks. The kid is riddled with anxiety about everything. It is out of control and very scary.

I am so relieved to have found this site... i have been miserable for almost 2 weeks, i broke out with hives last week and never found the cause but with that and some breathing problems they put me on prednisone. I have been miserable since, i couldn't eat drink sleep or do anything else at all pretty much and i have had diarrhea, and a ton of other symptoms... i feel bloated acid reflex muscle aches headaches dizziness chest pain & pressure very weak feeling mood swings and depression the jitters and heart racing and from what i read and researched this is all from the steroid prednisone.... thankfully the doctor ended my dosage sooner than it was prescribed and last night i took my last pill... i now am just wondering when or how long will it be till i feel myself again and can have a good nights rest?? I will never use this medicine again!! I am just soo relieved to have found some answers on here.

OMG! I'm afraid to take this medication, after reading all of your posts!
I got an infection in my left knee from falling onto the concrete side walk. and the on-call doc. prescribed it 4x a day 500mg. I think I'll wait to see my own dr. this Friday. I am allergic to pen.G and sulfa. I don't think the on-call doc knows this. better to be safe then sorry.
thanks for all your informative posts! I love this forum!

As I've been reading through all the experiences with Mirena I have to say I've had none of these side affects. The worst part of my Mirena was getting it put in. The only pain I received from it was the slight cramp feeling while it was inserted but that lasted as long as a bee sting. Other than that my period only happened once for 2 days and I've had the Mirena since September of 2007. I haven't gained any weight due to my Mirena, no headaches, no cramps, no periods, or anything bad in that nature. I love my Mirena and would never go back to any other form of birth control as I have tried many of them! This is by far the best birth control out there! :-D

ALLERGIES, bee sting, Sulfa drugs: there's another caution about Lisinopril I just discovered. Not only is this drug not to be used with people who have history of dehydration, it is contraindicated with people with allergies such as bee stings and SULFA drugs. Do not take your med provider or pharmacist word, find out for yourself before swallowing something that could be POISON to you! God bless and good luck to all of you.

Listen EVERYONE. A LOT of the pills you are going to take have side affects and A LOT of them react with the other meds you are taking. It is a horrible time because you mostly attribute your feelings to your sickness and you want to trust the "system" to take care of you...Well be VERY CAREFUL HERE. I BEAT HEART FAILURE. I'm 34 years old, I went from transplant list to normal heart because of the research I DID ON MY OWN and today = NO HEART MEDS.. NO SURGERY.. BUT NOW I HAVE SEIZURE ACTIVITY IN MY BRAIN WHICH I KNOW THESE DRUGS DID TO ME!! There is no doubt. I felt so bad for so long, just like you all do... But once my heart function went up I still felt horrible... Only THEN I knew to get off the meds, but by then it was too late. It had done it's damage. Instead of just being a heart failure success story.. I have a new sorry chapter to battle with this seizure garbage. This "seizure" feeling which I had when I first started taking the meds now remain even though I am off. FYI - Did you know Lisinopril is made from SNAKE VENOM??? LOOK AT YOUR SIDE AFFECTS>> SOUND FAMILIAR???..Look it up.. It's true. I know it's a tough call though.. What do you do?? You need to do something to help your heart right? Just listen to your body.. That's the best advice.. Your body talks to you. Listen to what it is saying to you. Some people can handle certain drugs and some can not. Just like some people can handle a bee sting and some can die from one. Simple concept really but for some reason it boggles doctors minds if you have a bad reaction...doctors are not gods... Do your own research like I did. It will give you an edge and help you feel less confused. Know your medication: what it is doing and why... EMAIL ME.. ALL COMMENTS WELCOME_ I Will have a Heart Failure website someday so I can help others... but for now I have to figure out this seizure thing.. Good luck.

I had a huge allergic reaction from a bee sting so the urgent care Dr. prescribed a Kenalog shot. I thought that if it would reduce my huge arm it sounded good. Well, not so good as others who have had the shot have described. I am so happy to read the side affects of others because I was starting to think that there was something serious was going on with me. I started mt period after a week after my previous one and have had this period for seven days. I usually only have five day periods and have been very regular. I called my obgyn and they said that the pharmacist stated that this is not a side affect of Kenalog. This is obviously not true and the medical professionals should be aware of this awful side affect. I have also had a dull headache for a week which has also worried me. I guess I will try to wait it out. How long does this crazy shot stay in your system?

I took Prednisone for an allergic reaction to a Bee bite that turned into cellulites after a few days. My arm and leg swelled up to the point where I had to go into the emergency room. They put me on a prednisone drip and then prescribed prednisone for 10 days tapering down from 60 mg a day to 10 mg a day.
I felt horrible on it! Could not think straight, massive headaches everyday to the point where I could not go to work! Then once I went down from 30mg to 20mg a day, the with drawl that your body gets is the worst!
Nassau, more headaches and forget about thinking straight! and yes your face does look like a moon after a few days... Try drinking a lot of water
Now I am on my 2nd day with out it and I still feel the side affects but I hope they will go away soon :(
This drug works but I hope I never take it again.

I was prescribed the pills for a sore on the inside of my nose that wouldn't heal.
After the 5th day have noticed a sever pain in my right elbow
and weakness in my whole body that I didn't have before
taking the pills . I also have bee sting like pains in my right leg and ankle area , not noticed before .
I am stopping the pills today and hoping all the symptoms will stop in a day or two . I intend to go back to my Dr. in another day or so to let him know what steps I have taken .

Rash ???
I am under Treatment for Bi Polar using Lamictal-
200 mg in morning and 200mg at night before I go to bed. (totally 400 /day),
300 mg of trileptol at night and
100 mg of Zoloft in the morning.
I have taken the Lamictal for about 5 mos ramping up steadily( 25 mg,50 mg etc) as per directions to prevent the infamous rash. I used to take 1200 mg of treleptal and depakote before that.
Rash? I don't know what you call it. I get the feeling of a bee sting sensation periodically on my neck and collarbone area. To say the least, it itches and I have redness ( i don't know if this is from the scratching or a side effect)
Ouch!!! ( I have it now)I use ice to soothe it but it seems to progressively get more annoying. The little stings occur every 2 minute or so, isolated in a 2-3" square area, they will occur in different places at different epsiodes that occur about once every 48 hours. but always on the neck /collarbone region The Psychiatrist says it is not the rash that everyone talks about. When I was on Lithium 22 years of 1500 mg starting in 1977, I remember a similar rash at times.
I remember a rash that itched on my stomach about a month ago - I figured it was just a bug bite.
( I once attended a BPSA meeting and declared that lamectal is just lithium in disquise)
feed back, experiences and comments welcome

I have been on it for two weeks and have had no side effects. Every BP meds on the market have the same side effects. When I first found this page I freaked out, because I wasn't told of the possible side effects the ACE Inhibitors can cause. But, you could have the same effects from a bee sting. It has lowered my BP from 140 / 90 to 120 / 75 and I don't get the shaking from the high bp anymore. Good Luck to everyone who has to take bp meds! Please take them and don't quit unless your doctor tells you to. If my best friend would have listened to his doc, he would still be hanging out with me today.
