I had this thing placed in April of 2008. I was fine had minor cramping and went back for check up. everything was okay until January 2009 I got a yeast infection. I did an otc med and it went away for about 3 days. It came back with Avengeance not only did I have a yeast infection but it was accompanied with migrated arthralgia. I could hardly walk at one point on my right foot then it moved from my right hand to my left and has settled in to my right foot. I called my PCP and she gave me meds to treat and it went away for a month. I was told that if it came back with the arthralgia she was going to test me for lupus!!!! LUPUS I thought I was in a lot of trouble the next month because it came back. I have had 8 yeast infections in 6 months. Every time my husband and I have sex it feels like a rug burn and I get the infection back. I was told (when I finally thought to call) by my GYN that if you get yeast infection and it doesn't fully go away it can live on the strings and keep coming back. I was treated this last time with a vag cream insert and an oral med. I thought I was free and clear but two months later here I am again. I am going in to see my GYN/PCP to have this removed tomorrow she agrees that the mirena is the issue. I have had all these other symptoms thought mostly the weight issue I can't lose weight not matter how hard I work at it. I have facial swelling and have been very fatigued. Also be warned that you should not have this placed if you have history of endometriosis. I consulted as to why with one of the doc that i am a nurse for and she said that this can cause bleeding to be worse since endometrial tissue can attach anywhere in the body. I have endometriosis removed twice and I am not willing to take the risk of abn bleeding elsewhere I already have enough CRAP to deal with. I am sure that some women have had this and it hasn't been an issue. More power to you!! but for those of you who are suffering form this. You can file a formal complaint with the FDA I think if enough of us file complaints maybe will step back and take a closer look at the TRUE SE of this horrible device!!

I've been on doxy for one week now for my Lyme . I'm usually a happy person, and I'm just another normal 15 year old. I've been feeling like I'm losing my mind. I woke up @ 5 am thinking it was 7 due to the massive headache I woke up to and my blurred vision. I've been forgetting a lot of things lately, not the best time because I have final exams. I have also been crying for no reason and a little jumpy. Today I ran away from what I thought was a spider it was a piece of paper. I felt like I was dying the 2nd day I took it. Now I have a random rash spreading throughout my leg.
Well glad to know I'm not a lone on feeling like I'm going crazy.

I had the Mirena put in at my six week check-up. I have to admit its kinda painful but its not THAT bad. I'm am 23 and my husband and I jsut had our first child March 09...I BEAUTIFUL baby girl. I thought this was the best BC for me as well. My only complaint is that I am still bleeding since It was put in. I've had it almost 2 months now and its starting to get on my nerves. IF it does stop....as soon as my husband and I have sex it will start back. :( I have mood swings like crazy but I'm not sure if its being caused by the Mirena or not. I often get HOT to the point of passing out almost too and then it will just go away...hate that too. I def say to someone who is thinking about getting it to just try and see if it will work for you. I still have the same sex drive I've always had (YAY), my weight is wonderful...I've lost it all and then some. I guess its different for different people. I'm going to keep mine inless I have a huge problem with it but that hasn't been the case yet. Like I said earlier, its gonna hurt a little but its nothing that doesn't go away in like 2 mins.....its super quick!
Also my Doc said that the BEST time to have it inserted was when you have your first period and thats what I did!!!
>>>I had a C-section too....

Hi....I am a 48 year old male just starting on Lisinopril 10mg daily. Have taken it for 7 days now. Blood pressure before was 184/120 in the doctors office. Have seen it spike to 200/129 at the dentist plus 220/149 at the Oral surgents office removing a tooth. First day of taking Lisinopril it knocked down my BP too 123/75 thought that was great. Since has mellowed out now at 140/90. Im sure on my second visit the DR. will up my dosage which I will question. So far reactions have been that scratchy throat right of the bat that everyone discribes. Plus my stomach just groals the first hour as it trys to disolve. Takes about 4 hour before I can see it lowers my pressure any. Have been trying different times of the day best I can to find the best time to take it which I now have settled on right after noon lunch about 1 hour works best. I also have had alot of tiredness from it, which is different from the weakness I also get from a condition they say I have called N.A.S.H. (non alcholic steatohepatitis ) which basically is too much fat in your liver that drains me of energy worse each year. But why I bring that up is the feeling is different a tiredness compared to a weakness feeling I dont seem to like. The weakness I can jack away with some caffine but this tiredness nothing seems to help so far. Have had some dizzyness getting up which is something I can live with til it makes me faint or fall at some point then I surly will cry wolf get me off this. Getting blood work done soon to see how it affects my liver counts will update you on that later.

I am a 62 yr. old female and in good health. In January 2007, my doctor ordered a cholesterol test and the results indicated a number of 237..."bad" cholesterol was not horrible, "good" cholesterol was very good. The doctor put me on 20mg of Lipitor without any hesitation... After a week or so, I started having horrible leg and muscle pain, so when I went back in 3 months (cholesterol 181), I told him I couldn't take this med, so he put me on Zocor. Really bad joint pain with this one, so I went back again in 3 months(cholesterol about the same) and told him again that this one had similar side effects and diarrhea. He then put me on Crestor...took this med, but was so lethargic and in a fog, my family told me to get off of that one. Went BACK to the Dr. in 3 mos., told him I couldn't take this one...he put me on prescription strength fish oil (6 per day) saying that this one should not have side effects. Other than some gastric/intestinal rumblings and some diarrhea, it was ok, but when I had my cholesterol checked it had gone up HIGHER than when I started this whole ordeal, so he put me on Welchol...saying that this one was not absorbed in the blood...blah,blah, blah... Still had the gastic/intestinal issues, SO when I went back 3 mos. later in March 2008 (cholesterol 200)and having already stopped this one myself, I told him I was NOT going to take any more meds for this "issue," and I would manage it with diet and exercise. I told him that this was supposed to be the best time in my life, and I was tired of feeling so poorly. He blatantly told me that if I did stop taking the cholesterol "you'll probably have 10 good years and 10 "crappy" years, and he was visibly angry about MY personal health decision. I had at one point during that the 1 year + mentioned to him about the information that I had been reading online...he pooh-poohed the whole "internet" thing, indicating that he had better information (I"M THE DOCTOR" syndrome!). Needless to say, I don't trust him, BIG PHARMA, or anyone else who says that these statin drugs are NOT harmful...My husband has since stopped taking Lipitor, due to our children and me noticing lapses in his memory. These drug companies and doctors are totally ignoring the side effects and health issues of the unsuspecting public. Hopefully, the truth will emerge, but how long it takes...who knows??????? I am glad I'm not on them anymore...I feel GOOD, and I know that whatever aches and pains I have ARE from aging and not drugs!!

I'm writing in behalf of my 15 year old daughter who is trying loestrin24fe to get some relief from her back pain and migraine headaches (which she inherited from me). She had a full period after just 10 days and has had a non-stop headache since starting this pill that won't stop even with her migraine medicine. I know it takes time for bodies to adjust, each is different and the doctor says give it 3 months- but she is considering just stopping because her headaches are so bad. I'm just not sure she can hold out for 2 and a half more months to give it a good try. Her acne is a lot worse too. Moody- yes, this was another thing we were hoping the pill would help with but hasn't. I'm sure this site is biased for people having problems since if it's working okay- why look up information on it? In any case, 30 years ago the lowest dose pill made me depressed, I barely made the 3 month mark before I stopped and I thought it would be different now. I have spent years before and after having kids using an IUD, and for me, that has always been the greatest birth control!

I have been taking a generic version of Wellbutrin SR 150mg for almost 2 months now. I also take Zoloft 50mg. Before I started the wellbutrin, I had been taking zoloft for over a year to help with depression. The zoloft was working very well for my depression, but it completely killed my libido and as a newlywed, I felt something had to be done as it was beginning to affect my relationship with my husband.
So my doctor prescribed the wellbutrin. For the first couple of weeks I experienced a lot of nervous energy, a shortness of breath, a bit of nausea, forgetfulness and confusion. I almost stopped taking it because I didn't feel it was helping my libido either. But I stuck with it and after 3 weeks, it felt like it was definitely having a positive effect on my sex life. My husband noticed it too. He mentioned how much more responsive I had become when we were intimate. After 2 months, I am absolutely convinced that it has changed our lives and our relationship.
It is not, by any means a miracle drug though. I have a few complaints about it, the main one being the CONFUSION that I experience for hours after I take it. I was taking it in the morning before I went to work and everyday I noticed that I was not as sharp and efficient as I usually am. I figured this was a temporary side effect so I kept taking it as usual, but it never went away! I kept forgetting everything, lost focus easily, had dull headaches, and generally felt as if I could not connect to what I was doing.
SO...about a week ago, I thought I would try to take it at night...when it's not as important to be sharp and focused (and more important to be turned on). And it has turned out great! I'm so glad I started to do it. It doesn't affect my sleep...in fact I think I sleep better. And when I wake up in the morning, my dull headache is gone and I feel less foggy. At work, I feel normal again. My short term memory has recovered and I don't get confused as easily.
If you suffer from a lot of memory loss and confusion from this medication, I definitely suggest taking it at night. It has really helped me! Thanks and good luck!

I am 29 yrs. of age. My experience with Mirena has been mostly bad. With any medication I usually try to see how it works for me and my body before reading into any web site. I don't want to pre-determine my side effects before they even happen! So, I didn't look up anything on this until I started having side effects of my own. And here's my story...
I got this thing put in right after the birth of my son in Feb. (MY 2ND BABY)My dr. told me it would be the best time to do it since everything was still fairly loosened up down there. I have to say that it really didn't hurt me to have it put in. I barely felt it. I went home with some minor bleeding and started cramping a bit. The next day I cramped a lot. Nothing that a menstrual cramp medication couldn't handle though. Next, I started gaining some weight. I checked on-line immediately to find out if weight gain was an issue. I found that many if not most of the women had some weight gain. Little did I know that weight gain was minor compared to my other symptoms.... I have had HAIR LOSS!!! I think I'm going bald. Ok I am over exaggerating, but seriously I lose handfuls of hair with each shower. I have gotten to the point where I just towel dry my hair and spray it with hair spray (kind of the messy look) I don't want to comb it and lose more hair. I have been very itchy in the vaginal area, and have had discharge also ( kind of wet and watery looking). Is my water breaking again??? lol I have read some of the stories about the mirena and decided that some are far fetched, but I really have to say that having these side effects for myself I realize what my "normal" is. My body is not agreeing with this at all. Even if it would level out after a few more months I don't even think it's worth the wonder! I have tried to stick it out just thinking I must be crazy and that these side effects are not from the birth control, but now I am realizing that I am crazy to leave this Evil thing in! I will be getting it taken out ASAP!

I have been on NuvaRing for approximately two weeks now. I really don't feel like writing a response right now because I am in such a bad mood. I usually am a happy go lucky person. I am 24 years old and only started birth control because I am going back to school, love my boyfriend, and really know this isn't the best time to get pregnant. Anyways, I really APPRECIATE ALL THE RESPONSES FROM ALL YOU GIRLS!. I feel I should tell you how I feel and let you all know that you are not alone. I have been moody, depressed and the worst thing of all no matter how much alcohol I drink I still don't feel happy. I don't want to be touched, I can't stand people that make 'funny', EVERYTHING IRRITATES ME!. So I decided to give it two more weeks. And if I don't feel any better I'm just gonna flush it down the toilet. Just tell your boyfriends to PULL OUT!. Thanks for all your advice. LOVE YOU GIRLS. Hope all works out for you.

I was prescribed to take 30mg/day (Prednisone) to try to reduce the inflammation brought upon by Ulcerative Colitis. I have taken Prednisone before....up to 60mg/day, when I was first diagnosed with UC. I don't really remember all of the side effects I experienced, but I do remember my calves and feet swelling, a bit a of moon face and very little weight gain due to the UC. Does anyone have any suggestions to how/and when I should take the daily dose of Prednisone (early morning, with food...what kind of food)? Also, I would love to hear from anyone with Ulcerative Colitis and how they are coping with the disease. From their diet when in remission to during a flare-up! Thanks...

Hi,

I've been on Yasmin for about 4 years now, and only now am I realising that my post-period headaches, morning nausea, anxiety, mood swings, brown spots on chin, daily cramps in my feet etc could be due to Yasmin, which was given to me as the wonder pill. I am at the end of my cycle now, and due to take Yasmin tomorrow, but I really don't want to. To top this up I am getting married in 5 weeks time and really don't think this is the best time to come off the pill as it may cause emotional side effects. Has anyone got any suggestions for me, can anyone recommend a safer, less destroying pill?

Thanks,
M.

Well, the news is reporting that the placebo effect is not really worth it. Homeopathic ways are not really the way apparently. So, do some research about this and heed their warning. Still, you have to have gone through prednisone before anyone can tell us what is best for us. The "natural way" of healing may not be the best. Time will tell. As time passes by, so will the side effects diminish and so will the withdrawl. Maybe some natural ways might help. I,will listen to alot of things to determine about myself. When we post it benefits all of us to keep an open mind and take into consideration each of us are unique situations. All advice and experiences are needed here. This site has helped me alot. Thankyou...........How are all of you doing out there?
