Recovering after removal of the Mirena has been fairly quick and constant for me. I removed it myself last Wednesday night and when I woke up the next morning I no longer wanted to kill myself or anyone else:) It was that immediate of an improvement. I still had migraines for the next couple of days, but then they stopped. It took about five to six days for my hair to stop falling out. My breasts stopped hurting on about day three or four. My skin started to clear up immediately too. I was blemish free by day four. The brain fog started to lift around day three or four. I don't know how soon this resumed, but I have actual energy again! I started to spot a bit on day two and then got my period on day five, right on schedule. My period has been a breeze. It hasn't been any heavier than before Mirena and it's absolutely wonderful compared to when I had Mirena. When I had my period with Mirena, I experienced morning sickness symptoms and vomited intermittently throughout the day - the entire time. I read somewhere that other women found herbal detox helpful after removal and I did that for a few days before my period started and I plan to resume it after my period. I am very happy with my decision to remove it.

My daughter was put on accutane for about 4 months and WOW.....what a difference!! She only experienced the dryness all over from head to toe, but aquaphor relieved that. Her skin was clear by the 2nd month! She took 2 - 20mg pills a day for the first month, then down to one 1 pill a day. Her skin glows and is sooo clear!! She doesn't even get one pimple anymore! Along with the accutane, she used retin-A to reduce the blemishes...now have lightened up quite a bit!! She felt that bare-minerals make up was the best for blemish coverage. She stopped taking the accutane for almost a month now and we are just crossing our fingers that she stays clear!!

I've been on Loestrin 24 Fe for about a year, my periods were never only 3 days and they were barely periods. They were very weird and painful!
I became a royal bitch and my skin was ok but I have always had great skin so when I got a blemish or two I felt that it was because of the pill. To top it all off I gained weight on it so I started restricting my diet and working out harder. My weight didn't go down at all, but I didn't gain. As soon as I stopped taking the pill my working out and eating little helped me dropped 5 pounds (it has been 2 weeks). I'm thinking the pill didn't allow me to lose weight.
I also had a diminished libido which sucks because I like sex. It was only the last week on hormones, I was crazy for sex but only then.
I decided to get off the pill because I was hating myself on it and now I see the beginning of bad acne. I haven't had my first period off the pill yet but I have a feeling it won't be pleasant.

Has anyone had the Mirena taken out and immediately replaced with the copper IUD? I'm having this procedure done on May 20, 2008 and I'm really scared that doing this will further hinder my weight loss effort. I've had the MIrena for a little over 2 years, and like many many women I only have very recently started to connect Mirena with side effects I never imagined. It was inserted Feb. 2006, and immediately I turned into a horrible, moody, extremely emotional basketcase. I never even thought twice about the Mirena being responsible. My husband and I thought I was postpartum depressed. I lost everything, meaning my husband, my home, my life, and my mind within 3 months of insertion. I had already had one child, and after she was born I had PPD, but not to the extent of attempting to kill my husband and turning his mother in to Social Security. This was a horrible time in my life and I wish I had known that it wasn't just postpartum behavior. Recently I've noticed the increase in my weight....a problem I never had before and I don't like it. My skin is a big oily blemish nightmare, also a problem I never had before. I'm always nauseated, I am depressed still and now summer time has become dreaded because I can't stand to look at myself and it's too hot to cover all the way up. I'm terrified of removal because I have read many stories saying that you go through a worse emotional roller coaster to get the hormones out of your body, but I suppose I've done it once, I can do it again. If anyone has had the Mirena removed and replaced with the copper one, can you please tell me what to expect??

I have just gone back onto Yasmin after an absolutely horrifying experience trying to come off it.
I have taken Yasmin for 3 years with minimal problems. My skin was fantastic - never a blemish. I actually LOST weight while on it and went up a up a breast cup size. I got lighter periods which was a godsend. I did get a few problems though - gas and stomach bloating as well as headaches sometimes shortly after taking it and occasionally break-through bleeding. But for me the pros outweighed the cons.
I came off it recently as I'm no longer in a long term relatonship and it was just awfull. My skin broke out, I got very oily hair and skin and felt like I was going through puberty again. The worst problem was that in just 3 weeks I blew up like a baloon. I literally stacked on weight every day and my family all made suggestive comments like "been enjoying the cake lately?" I was so angry since I'm such a healthy eater and excersize every single day!!!!! I have never had a problem wth my weight before and the only change I made in my lifestyle was coming of Yasmin. I was so upset with my appearance I have actually gone back on the Yasmin. However its ridiculus to stay on it for beauty's sake.
Has anyone ever experiecend this before??? If so what did you do????

I have had Mirena for 1 yr and 5 months. The insertion was not painful that I recall, although I have had 4 kids, so I hear that may make a difference.
-- By lauralove11 | Reply | (1) replies | Private Message meI loved this IUD for the first 9 months or so, then started noticing things that I didnt know were attributed to Mirena until I started reading about others experiences. Bleeding and spotting were minimal at first, no biggie.
I stopped having my period at all around 6 months...haven't had a period in a year..and had spotting maybe 3 times total. Since about 9 months into Mirena....I have had cystic acne. (which I didnt know existed until mirena) I had never had a blemish on my BACK in my life! Also on my face, around hairline, and in my ears, on my neck, and hard to get rid of. I have noticed little cyst like nodules in my neck and the back of my head, behind my ears, like swollen lymph nodes but they come and go...never noticed this before. Have had a intermittent mysterious sharp pain in my side, like a side stitch, comes and goes, and feel it during sex. No doctors had a clue about it. I have been very tired lately the last 3 months and I am on a stimulant for ADHD, so I should not be tired! (also why I haven't gained weight like others) But most markedly, I have always had a history of migraines, and had auras about 6 times in my life. Normally I would have 3 migraines a month tops.....then after about a year, I would get them several times a week...NOW I HAVE HAD A HEADACHE for 21 days straight, with only about 4-5 headache free days in there. Severe enough that I am taking painkillers and went to the ER, and they did a CAT scan and so nothing. normal. So. What could it be???
I got fed up this morning...after waking up one more day with kids I cant take care of properly or enjoy.....so I took out my IUD all by myself.
Couldn't leave the house to go somewhere with my head throbbing.
Dont want to pay anyone to remove something that has already cost me so much. Just looked at the diagrams, and found the string, pulled gently and viola! It was pretty darn easy! No pain, no discomfort at all. Not a drop of blood yet after 7 hours. Head still hurts but the relief I feel is great. I know I made the right decision to take it out and I wont use a hormonal BC again. I am looking into Essure now.
It works for some people, sure, but don't forget it worked fine for me for almost a year before I realized what harm it was doing to me.
I cant wait to have my skin back and my body back to normal.
Be wary, but it did its job. But I have read hundreds upon hundreds of negative reactions to this. Class action lawsuits getting ready. So be careful,
