Blind spots symptoms and conditions

I had my Mirena put in back in June of 2008 right after I got married. I, too, was lead to believe that the effects of the progesterone were purely "localized" to the uterus and would not cause any symptoms at all.

Since then I've experienced SEVERE migraines and dizziness, loss of libido, greasy skin and hair, weight gain (size 6 to size 10/12), numbness/tingling in my feet, crying, irritability, and SEVERE brain fog. For the migraines, I went to a neurologist who wanted to prescribe me topamax and said the only major side effect is cognitive difficulties! HA!!! I already have the worst brain fog, can't remember anything, am tired.... rather..... exhausted all the time, and can't function.

This Mirena surely works well as birth control, seeing as I have NO SEX DRIVE at all! LOL. But seriously, it's great not to have a period, but I knew something was wrong when I was needing medication (antidepressants for the mood swings, provigil for the fatigue, botox nerve injections for the menstrual migraines) for this medication IUD!

Since no OBGYN believes me when I say I think it's the Mirena, I've began to think I was crazy and this was all in my head. So I started on the internet and all my symptoms sounded like MS. So I had thousands of dollars in testing including a full body MRI/MRA. Negative. Had ENT see me for the vertigo. Lots of tests. Negative. Anemic? No. Thyroid? Normal.

HOW MUCH MORE DO WE HAVE TO SPEND ON HEALTH CARE TO FIND OUT WE ARE "FINE" WHEN WE FEEL THE WORST WE'VE EVER FELT???

Then I found this site!!! I think it's the Mirena now! So I want to get it out. But then on the other hand, I feel SO GUILTY that my husband paid $900 for it and I only kept it 1 year. That's expensive birth control! But then again, all the tests, doctor's bills, and feeling lousy cost more! (Not to mention that my doctor cut my strings too short so we can't "check" them each month so to be certain that my IUD is in place he makes me get an ultrasound every 6 months for $250!!!)

My ONLY FEAR is that I will have this out and the symptoms WON'T go away and it was NOT the Mirena after all. Then I will have gone through the pain of putting it in, taking it out, and the cost of "throwing one away" and then what am I supposed to do? I'm 29 but in school and can't get pregnant for a few more years. I don't want to go back on the pill because the mood swings were terrible. But I never had migraines or anything on those, so why is the Mirena causing problems?

Any feedback or encouragement would be helpful right now. I need advise!

I was hospitalized about four months ago for a total of three days due to a massive kidney infection, during three days in the hospital I was pumped full of Levaquin. I began suffering what the doctor believed was a migraine on the second day, let me tell you it was far worse than any other migraine I had ever had. So not only did they send me home with a prescription for Levaquin they sent me home with a migraine prescription. I took Levaquin for a week after my departure from the hospital, I am young and very naive when it comes to doctors and hospitals and I had faith in my doctor that the medicine they prescribed me was good for me. After suffering from a migraine for almost two straight weeks I began to suffer from blind spots in my eyes, and a kind of slowing down effect. I would get up and it would cause my head to feel like it take my mind and my eyes a couple minutes to catch up to my body, vertigo. Well I returned to the hospital and was told I was suffering a migraine, once again, no migraine I had ever had caused blind spots. They referred me to a neurological ophthalmologist who took the time to look at my eyes, and diagnosed me with Pseudotumor Cerebri. He told me that the medicine had caused pressure to build up in my head and caused hemorrhaging in the back of my eyes, hence the blind spots. I have a scheduled MRI to validate the doctors concerns, but the treatment he is telling me may reverse the affects is a long term treatment, and has a possibility of not being successful. So for a medicine I was given to treat one thing I acquire something far worse and all for trusting a doctor to have my interests in mind

I stopped Yasmin 16 days ago because of visual disturbances - blind spots, severe light/ glare sensitivity, headache, some aura...I'd been using it for 2.5 months. Last 10 days later, my blood pressure shot up to 144/104...I've always had blood pressure well within the normal range. Now, I'm having tingling sensations all over my body - kind of like drug withdrawal...has anyone else experienced this? I've also seen an eye specialist who said they've found some bc pills to cause migraines that have lasting effects on the eyes! Does anyone else know what more I can expect after coming off this pill and for how long??? My docs have suggested non-hormonal methods from here on.

My doctor put me on 40mg Lipitor about 4.5 months ago. My cholesterol at that time was about 220. The Lipitor has reduced my cholesterol to about 105 but not without serious side effects that I began noticing about one month ago. I am a diabetic, BTW, but but sugars are well-controller. The first thing I began to notice is that my thighs felt cold all the time, sometimes even burning--but only when I sit down. If I put heat on them, it goes away. Putting cream on them goes away. Another thing I was getting these migraine headaches that affect my vision, causing blind spots. I've them before but never with the frequency of the way they are occuring now. The last two big things is absentmindness and extreme fatigue....whew. Well, I stopped taking Lipitor today and I feel better already. Diminished fatigiue, for sure.
