I haven't found Mirena to be very invasive so far. I got it put in after my daughter was born and since then my periods have been few and far between, but I attribute some of that to breastfeeding the first six months. I have had the Mirena in for almost a year and the only thing I notice is that sometimes I feel moody and hungry and lethargic like I'm about to menstruate but then nothing happens. I haven't had weight gain problems and I do fight off some acne on my chin and sides of my face but I don't know if that has to do with the Mirena- I haven't always had the greatest skin to begin with. I got pregnant because I wasn't on the pill or anything, everything else before this has made me psychotic. Any contraceptive you use will have its drawbacks because you are messing with your physiology and biology and everything. This is the best thing I've tried- so far it hasn't been problematic enough to consider taking it out. I think I am a case of very mild side effects with this method. It sounds like some people's bodies are more sensitive and attack the device as a foreign object in their system. My body is less fussy apparently

I had mirena put in in Oct 08. My symptoms are: dizziness, sweating, nausea, (these symptoms can be mild and brief (seconds); or last a few minutes. I had severe dizziness in May and June of 2009. I also get acne on my shoulders, neck, face, and my T zone is very oily (especially my forehead). I am using good acne products to try to combat this problem, but I continue to have a problem. Some of my acne is like welts and I even have this going on on my scalp. I wrecked my car in December 2008. At that time I was very foggy headed. I blamed the foggy headedness on being stressed and overworked. I am 40 years old. My children are 10 and 13, therefore I know my symptoms are not post pregnancy. Today, I questioned if I wasn't going through early menopause. My doctor said this mirena would be wonderful and that after six months I would not have a period anymore. I have a period every two weeks. My periods are very light, but I still have them every two weeks, and they last for two weeks. I have been wondering if my body will adjust, and if I will eventually get to this heavenly place of now periods and bliss?

My 62 year old husband has had Parkinson's for about 10 years now. The other day he was prescribed Prednisone (20 mg tablets, twice a day) for 5 days. After the first day his pinched nerve problem was greatly improved, and as a side effect, his Parkinson's symptoms disappeared completely and he was like normal again! This is a miracle to us and we are looking for medical research to help prescribe Prednisone for Parkinson's', or some agent similar. Did the Prednisone make the other Parkinson's drugs more effective; or did the Prednisone fix the Parkinson's on its own. We don't know. For 5 days, it was bliss; I hope we can get someone to weigh the side effects against the miracle of being normal without any Parkinson's symptoms!

I have had my Mirena for just a little over 6 months now. I have two side effects that are annoying the daylights out of me. I have been bleeding the ENTIRE time, and I have acne like never before! I am soooo irritated.

Hello Again. I'd like to correct my earlier statement regarding the migraine. The terminology is "migraine with aura" (it still hurt like a son of a b*^$& no matter what you call it). I'd also like to update you all with an interesting finding from my Dr. app the other day...it appears that I have "hyperthyroidism" which can, in fact, cause many of the symptoms that I've been experiencing. It may be a good idea, for those of you who haven't already done so, to have a complete blood workup, including thyroid tests, to rule out possible root causes for many of these symptoms. I need to undergo further testing (which is just how a Mom wants to spend her precious "free-time" eh?) but I'm still keeping Mirena high on my list of culprits! Best of luck!

I've been on Lisinopril 20mg for a week now. I have been having the hoarseness, leg cramps, tired (no energy), getting no sleep, and cough. But what worries me most is my blood pressure has dropped to what I think is TO LOW, (example: 87/60, 90/58, 96/66 89/68. I called my dr. 2 days ago and explained my concerns. They told me to cut my 20mg pill in half and we will decide what to do at my next appt. which is in a few days. Even after cutting the pill in half, my bp is still running 96/67, 98/66. Should I demand to be taken off the Lisinopril and be put on a different medication?

I was prescribed Brazvia (sp) and wasn't too satisfied with it, and was then prescribed Yaz.I'm 20 years old and I'm only on my second week and I can feel the effects. I have ZERO energy. I am always tired and moody and my sex-drive is non-existent. I feel myself craving food more often than I should. My hormones are through the roof. I cry over everything and anything, and I have no temper. I have basically turned into a crazy person since beginning the pills. I will continue for another month just to finish the two packs I have, and if nothing changed I'm returning to Brazvia which is bliss compared to Yaz.n

46 years young now and had nine years of "no period at all" bliss. I did have heavy periods up till then. First few months a lot of spotting and crampy pains to the extend that I nearly gave up. Now, I would never go without. My daughters are jealous as they are advised that they are to young for it. I already had my 3 kids so why suffer any longer.
Any one know a cure though for a low libido? I think it got worse since the Mirena.
Also, can anyone tell me how I'll know that my menopause has started seeing that I don't have any periods?

I am 42 yo, and was diagnosed with Adenomyosi- extremely painful, and 6 months of continuous heavy bleeding ( 4+ maxi pads per day). My gyno recommends Mirena, after I have been on 7 different bc pills. I am now scared to have this plastic device inserted in uterus, and will continue to take BCP, and wait for menopause. If we were talking about a prostate or a testicle,(And not a uterus) I am certain the Medical Researchers would have developed an effective pill. I am surprised at the number of women living with painful and heavy bleeding and dealing with so much pain, while their doctors "brush them off." Any ideas?

Hi everyone
My little boy who is nearly two was put on Singulair as a preventative.
I did check on forums when we started using Singulair and I was concerned that there has been descriptions of negative affects. Always trying to be objective I rationalised that the people in this forum are a small part of the greater Singulair population and as a result there was a low risk of negative affects on my little boy.
I have to say I think I was wrong. As soon as he was using Singulair, he had restless nights of sleep. Every night he would cry off and on until 2am and I guess he was so tired he slept. During the day he was very short tempered and became upset very easily. We put this down to tiredness. After 10 days of the lack of sleep for parents and little one, we told our doctor.
He advised to take him off Singulair for 5 days and make observations and then put him back on. Last night, his first night off Singulair was bliss. Not a sound. He had a great sleep. As I type he is now having another great sleep.
Let us see what happens after 3 more days and after putting him back on Singulair.
It would seem that if we are correct and that Singulair is a cause of an issue for my child, am I a quasi beta testing laboratory for a drug?
We are from Australia.
Thank you for reading.

I am finally writing after reading these posts since the end of April. That is when I took my 11 year old son off singulair, in an act of desperation. He has been on singulair on and off for about five years for seasonal allergies. He started again in mid-March so it could get into his system, before the allergies started. Immediately thereafter his behavior changed. He was arguing on a daily basis. He would hit, kick or trip me when he was angry. He was starting to destroy things in anger. He seemed to be fueled by anger. It was affecting the whole family. He was starting fights with his younger brother, my husband's heart was palpitating and I was crying every day. I heard about Singulair side effects and looked it up. I saw that it caused behavioral changes and out of desperation, took him off, not knowing what to expect. We had three days of total peace, then on the fourth day another outburst. Then my son told me he had taken a singulair the night before. That was it. I threw every pill in the garbage. He no longers acts like that. It's been almost two months so I am convinced it was the Singulair. By the way, he always complained of headaches, stomach aches and would scream in his sleep. Who knew - it was the singulair all along.

I just had my MIRENA inserted today, OUCH! I asked the nurse prior to insertion if it would be painful and she said I would be "Alittle Crampy" but that was it. ALITTLE CRAMPY is not the word for it, I felt and have felt for 51/2hours since the insertion like I am in labor. Thank god I had some old Vicodin in my med cabinet because it was UNBEARABLE! I decided on this birth control because I didn't want to gain weight and had with ALL the others I have tried but maybe that wasn't the right decision? I don't want to gain weight, lose my hair, get facial hair(YUCK) or get even moodier than I already am. I already have NO libido how could that get worse? My poor husband, I will have to get him a lifetime membership to the "soap in shower club". Can anyone give me hope? Please , please, please!

I'VE HAD MIRENA FOR THREE YEARS NOW AND HAVING IT REMOVED TODAY. IT WAS GREAT THE FIRST TWO YEARS, NO PERIODS, CRAMPING OR MOOD SWINGS. ALL THOUGH OVER THE LAST YEAR I HAVE DEVELOPED SEVERE CRAMPING, ACNE, MOOD SWINGS, MIGRAINES, INSOMNIA, WEIGHT GAIN, DEPRESSION AND MUSCLE ACHES. WHICH ALL SEEM TO BE GETTING WORSE, I DON'T THINK THE TWO YEARS OF BLISS FOR NOT HAVING A PERIOD ARE WORTH IT. AND UNTIL I FOUND THIS SITE I THOUGHT I WAS JUST LOOSING MY MIND, IT'S NICE TO KNOW I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE HAVING TROUBLE WITH IT.

I've been on Loestrin for about two weeks now. I switched from another pill that was causing me to be severely depressed. I had about one week of bliss on Loestrin before I started to get extremely angry very easily. I've never had many problems with acne, but my face has been more oily than normal. Also, I'm experiencing a lot of breakthrough bleeding.

Well for you thinking it's all in the mind, 10mg is NOTHING! Try being on 60 for 4 Months... yeah, then you would defenitely see it's not "all in the mind". Ignorance isn't always bliss, now is it? A 25lb weight gain, emotional changes, water retention, a moon face, those are just to name a few.

First let me say that it's nice to see I'm not crazy! There has got to be something wrong for the mirena to have over 4,000 hits on side effects! Anywho, I had my mirena put in September 2006, I dealt with the cramping as you all have put as well as irregular periods for about 4 months then it was bliss, I had no periods since then. Then I starts noticing the weight creeping on. I mean I would get it off but it would com back plus a few lbs. This happened about 3 times while on the mirena. Then I started noticing my hair was falling out more and more everyday. It's to the point that I wear wigs now. My attitude with my husband and children has not been all that great not to mention the depression I am coming out of was just to much for me. I thought I was going crazy. To make a long story short I got the Mirena out yesterday and I already feel 100 lbs lighter. It seriously feels like I'm walking on clouds. I don't know if that's the stress being lifted off or what, but I feel great! By back has not bothered me since and I slept like a baby last night. I am a bit tired though I slept most of today and I'm in bed now. Hopefully this will pass in a few days. My husband and I are trying for #3 I have not had any bleeding since they took it out and me and my husband did the deed on the 30th, it was the night before removal. So hopefully I
