I was prescribed this medicine as a treatment for sinusitis. Everything was okay on day one, but after taking three doses (one every 12 hours) I began to break out into a blister like rash. It started on my arms near my wrists, then at my ankles, and now my head. I am calling my doctor in the morning. I think that I would rather have the sinusitis than this.

I have been taking Lipitor for a couple of years with no drastic side effects but last spring i suddenly developed a blister like rash on the soles of my feet and on the inside arch. I presumed it was from the heat as I come from a warm climate.my doctor put it down to a bacterial infection. i medicated with creams all summer . there were times that it got better but never cleared completely. looking forward to the cold winter in the hope that it would go away. no such luck. i began to suspect that maybe it could be an allergic reaction to medication. now reading about all these side effects i wonder if Lipitor is causing it. Has anyone else had this problem. its driving me crazy

Hi I'm 15 and I'm prednisone for vogt-koyanagi-harada's disease (harada's disease) for short it's in my right eye and what it pretty much is, it's a blister that's at the back of my eye in front of my retna. This is really rare and it can eventually cause blindness. So my dr put my on prednisone 25mg pills i have to take four pills a day. Oh my goodness!!! The side effects are so horrible my side effects started with just being really hungry an irritable. But over the months I have gotten a round face, a double chin, acne, and I have trouble sleeping at night. They also make me pee like a horse! It's ridiculous! My back and muscles hurt all the time, I have lost interest in some of the things I like to do, I don't ever feel like doing anything or going anywhere anymore. I used to be really sociable with the people at my school but now my self-esteem has gotten so low I don't feel comfortable talking to people because I'm afraid they're going to judge me on how I look. Because I've gained so much weight. I play basketball also and it's not fun anymore because I'm slow an always out of breath! It's frustrating. Sometimes I find myself thinking about suicide and that is sooo crazy because I used to be really loud and outgoing an you would know i'm in the class room because I'll be laughing an having a good time. But this medicine has just taken over my body an mind I don't feel like myself. I just to get off the medicine and live my life. But I know I can't because I'll go blind!! And I don't want to go blind. But it's just hard to cope with.

Hello, I had the Mirena inserted in May 2008 and have just had it removed, August 2009. I do not have any children and was 25 at the time insertion. It was a terribly painful experience. The doctor gave me multiple pain shots inside of my uterus, tremendous cramping, bleeding, etc. and, when she was cutting the strings, accidentally snipped the inside of my vagina. Needless to say, the thought of going through that experience alone was enough to deter me from wanting to have the Mirena removed.
Over the next year, I went through a significant lifestyle change (SF to LA). I attributed many of the symptoms associated with hormones to this shift: weight gain, depression, anxiety, aggression, fatigue, joint pain. I always had some cramping pressure in my uterus and my periods became cramping events that took me out for a few days each month.
In the spring of 2009, I became concerned that these experiences were not just a change in environment. In addition to the Mirena, I have a congenital autoimmune thyroid condition (currently hypo), that I monitor 2-4x a year. I took multiple tests and started exercising and adjusting my diet in an attempt to balance things out. Regardless of the exercise and diet changes, I kept on putting on weight. I have suffered from the flux's of thyroid my entire life, but was flustered by my inability to effect any positive change.
I didn't associate the Mirena to these challenges until I began to do research on the internet. I believe that an IUD may aggravate thyroid and autoimmune symptoms (foreign object in the body). I also think that it is compounding my weight gain tendencies. After a three week late period, terrible joint pain, extreme bloating, cramping, and blister like acne, I went to the doctor today and he removed the IUD without any question. (This is NOT the same doctor who inserted the device). He was extremely supportive and sympathetic. I simply told him that I did not feel well and he suggested the Mirena's removal and did it IMMEDIATELY.
Unlike the insertion, removal was a breeze and I was amazed that my uterus instantly felt relieved. My body has been relaxing since then...a little sporadic cramping, a bit of a headache and nausea, but nothing significant. Emotionally, I feel much more grounded (though I'm sure this will shift ...as always!). For birth control, I am going to be taking Yaz for now, starting immediately. He recommended not having sex for a few days and using a secondary BC method for a month.
I am going to start cleansing my body through increasing my water intake and sweating (exercise and sauna). I am also going to see a homeopathic specialist next week to help with the hormonal shifts. I will check back in and share my Mirena removal experience. Take care, and listen to your body.

been taking 20 mg for several months, stopped it for about a month, and started back taking it at night for 1 month now. It seems that every time I bump my hand or arm it turns into a bad looking blister, someone asked me tonight if I had poison oak, which I don't. I have had blood tests and everything is normal. It really looks bad.

I began taking Mobic about a month ago. I have some acne and rosacea, but I began to develop blister-like acne papules all over my face. I am an esthetician working for a plastic surgeon. I take great care of my skin and thought it would subside eventually. Then I began getting ulcers/blisters in my mouth and my stomach was quite upset. I then recalled a similar reaction to Feldene and few years ago and decided to stop the Mobic. The breakout subsided in about a week and my skin is back to normal.

I am a 47-year old male; I was prescribed Bactrim for MRSA; after taking the prescription for just two days; My head felt as if it would explode (later told by doctor I had hives on the "inside of me"; I felt like I could not get my breath; my heart was racing; I broke out in hives - large red itchy splotches all over my body; pain in my abdomen; the inside of my mouth felt burnt and sore; eventually my lips felt burnt and began to blister and erupt; my penis glans began to blister and erupt; I thought I was dying of some sort of flesh-eating disease. 4-days after my last taken dose and I still am having these side effects.

Hello, I took two pills of Sulfamethoxazole-TMP d's the first tablet caused no noticeable side effects. Unfortunately the second caused a severe headache as pressure built up behind my eyes. I haven't had a headache in years, without being sick. The headaches were pulsing at times and worsened should I bend over or exert my self. I became fatigued easily early in the day, and I work out a lot and try to become fatigued purposely almost everyday. Immediately after taking the second pill I felt sharp pains in my stomach. I haven't had an upset stomach in years. The effects of the second pill did not stop there I also had started feeling the aches in my joints. My skin itches where I usually rub against things. Such as ankle to ankle, knees from wrestling and back from laying in bed. I also got three blister bumps one on my back and two on my face. It reminds me of what I get when I eat fast, canned or preservative packed foods. The prescription was due to a minor skin infection which is healing just fine to the best of my knowledge despite discontinuing the Sulfamethoxazole. Oh and the scariest and strangest side effect that I have not heard of yet is, my eyes became bloodshot after the second pill. I mean it looked like the whites of my eyes were blood. It has finally passed and my eyes are returning to white after three days from taking that second pill. I thought they were never going to go back to normal. The last side effect was blood in my stool. Scary. I will never take this stuff again. I just hope I get back to normal soon. Going on fourth day trying to rest and get better.

Much like others, I was prescribed Bactrim for a UTI. I had only taken 2 pills before I noticed the strange blister/knot on the top of my tongue. I was terribly achy, but did not associate these symptoms as drug allergies as I have never been allergic to any antibiotic in the past. I went to sleep- weird dreams. Woke up and the "knot" had moved toward the base of my tongue, my neck/glands were sore, my speech was slurred due to the knot and the numb tongue. This site has been most helpful. I stopped the med and will not be taking it ever again.

Man oh man. This is the worst experience of my life to this date. I'm 20 years old. An awesome person in my own opinion, but really just fell off the cliff. I just wrote an entire page of how I have been feeling lately to my mother and father with no intentions of giving it to them. Its basically explaining that if I do not wake up tomorrow that its because of this drug (doxy). It has made me so depressed that I cannot bare it any longer and I refuse to take any more of this. I can handle depression but actually sitting here and physically writing a letter is not something I would every do healthy.
I feel exhausted and I don't want to do anything. my stomach is fine but I have gotten sores on my tongue and a blister. I thought I may had picked up an STD from the only girl I have ever been with for my first time about 2 1/2 months ago but everything came back negative after I had already been taking the drug for 5 days. Now I have no clue whats wrong with me and this drug isn't curing my symptoms, its only adding on and making me feel terrible. I do not fear of doing anything to myself but I cant get over the fact that Im going to spontaneously pass in my sleep or something messed up. In fact writing this entire thing is completely unlike me. Depression is a powerful thing.
I will cause no harm to myself, but I think that anyone less educated about depression would. I really feel like if I didn't know everything was normal I would be ready for something to end my life. So I hope other people who are as severely depressed as I am will read this an know that its not the end and you just have to sort everything out.

I took my Levaquin tablet at 5:30am, I decided to eat some fruit (pineapple slices) around 8:00, my mouth began to burn and blister. I began drinking more water to stop the burning. Next day the same thing happened when I ate a piece of toast with jelly.

I also tried the nuvaring a couple of months ago, I loved the sound of it at first, put it in and don't worry about it for 3 weeks. However I too had many side effects including severe depression, rage basically an emotional rollercoaster. I had some sharp pains in my abdominal area as well and vaginal discharge. Soon after being on the ring I also noticed a spotted skin discoloration on my wrist that looked like freckles and did not itch or hurt in any way, but just looked gross. After having sex with my husband he got a blister on his penis from the friction against the ring, which made us unable to have sex until that healed. Within hours of removing the ring the spotted rash started to fade away. I was unable to get an appointment with my doctor right away so I put in another ring planning on removing it during sex, but after 2 days of having it in I grew so depressed and even suicidal, I removed the ring after realizing this and within hours all those black clouds went away, I bled heavily for about 4 days after removing it. But I am certain that I will never use the ring again, I would rather be normal and happy!

I've been taking fosomax for 16 months. In the last 10 months I have developed a hoarse, cracking voice that has become progressively worse. An evaluation finds a blister on one vocal cord. I don't know whether it is related to fosomax or not -- but am wondering if anyone else has a similar story.

I have had 1 remicade infusion so far for ulcerative colitis. The next day a bunch of spots appeared on my lower legs. There were 30-40 of them, small, roundish, purple/dark red. They looked like blood spots under the skin.
It wasn't a rash and they didn't itch or hurt. My doc had no explanation, and I haven't heard of anyone else having this reaction. They checked my blood for a clotting problem and didn't find anything. The spots faded away over a week or so. My next infusion is in 2 days, so we'll see if they reappear.
I have also been experiencing a weird kind of insomnia where I am so physically antsy I CANNOT keep lying still, I have to shake my body or kick my legs or something. I read up on restless legs syndrome and the symptoms sure sound like what I am experiencing. I don't know if it's connected to the Remicade - I read that iron deficiency can also cause it and I am anemic due to the UC. But since Remicade can disturb the central nervous syndrome, it seems possible. Anyone else experience RLS with Remicade?

I have been on 200mg per day for 7 months! Seems too long for anyone to be on an antibiotic, since antibiotics can deteriorate your gut and colon. However, I suffer from pemphigus vulgaris, which is an autoimmune blister disease, whereby the body no longer recognizes the skin as part of self and attacks it as an invader. The doxy will make me severely nauseous without food. I have experienced the burning from the inside out, tingling and new blisters from the sun because of the doxy. It has been a long run, I imagine the anxious, depressed emotions could be from the doxy, however I am unsure. Always feeling tired has been quite common. I tried to stop, especially if I were going to be in the sun, but the consequences were severe with new sores appearing from my pemphigus. So in my case apparently the benefit outweighs the risk, for now. I have noticed in my 6 month that my knees and hips are in pain. Is that a side effect of long term use of this medicine? Not that may be worthy of reconsideration, if it is responsible for joint and bone deterioration.

Having read all the other peoples comments, am feeling a little less like I am going mad! I am 33 and have no children and had the Mirena coil fitted 18 months ago to combat VERY heavy periods and a dangerously low iron level (i suffer from PCOS). All seemed to be going well for the first 6 months or so- still bleeding but less heavily and a little bit of weight gain, but nothing too scary. Then 9 months in I got what seemed to be a very bad case of herpes the doctor didn't do a blood test, but did give me medication and pain killers.....I have been with my partner for 4 years, we are both faithful and I have never even had a cold sore before!
In the past 9 months my period have been getting more frequent again (one every couple of weeks for about 5 days) but not as heavy as before AND I am getting a very swollen every month with dry itchy areas and sometimes a blister! Does anyone know if it can cause a dormant herpes infection to become active? I am also putting on weight more and the mood swings are getting more pronounced....lots of uncontrollable for no reason and my sex drive is either very high or not there.
I think I will get it removed, but I am scared of the effect this will have on my periods........can anyone help!

I was prescribed Doxycycline 100mg tablets twice a day, for 3 to 4 months, for a skin condition (perioral dermatitis) which causes small sores to form around my mouth. After my experience with this antibiotic, I'd rather have the sores!
I took the Doxycycline twice a day for the first week with no side effects. Antibiotics always cause yeast infection, so I took Diflucan before I started treatment and didn't have that problem. On the tenth day of the Doxycycline, (two days ago) I took a tablet with a little water and went right to bed. As I have read in previous posts on here, BIG MISTAKE! It felt like a giant gas bubble just below my breastbone, in my stomach area. Not too painful, but annoying. Every time I woke up during the night, that feeling was still there. The next day, the pressure was still in that area of my stomach, and it began to feel like heartburn. This feeling persisted all day, no matter what I ate or drank, which is very unusual for me as I don't usually have stomach problems. That's when I searched the web for side effects of Doxycycline, and found this website.
After reading many posts on this site, I decided it was indeed the Doxycycline, so didn't take them yesterday. However, the bloated, burning feeling was still present last night, a full 24 hours after the last capsule had been taken.
I had read someone's post about drinking apple juice, and thought it couldn't hurt...and I'll be darned if within 15 minutes that bloated, burning feeling went away, and hasn't returned. I don't understand WHY that works - unless maybe there is residual medicine sitting in the stomach which can't be digested, and the acid in the apple juice neutralizes it, but it WORKS!
I will NOT take any more Doxycycline, and will just keep the perioral dermatitis! I didn't have the depression or fatigue I see others have had, but since I was only on the meds 10 days, maybe those symptoms didn't have time to develop.

I've been on Prednisone after and allergic reaction to penicillin (Amoxicillin) (bullous pemphigold - large blister on my arms and legs, some on the back and very little on the stomach) I've been on the medication for three days (40mg/day) I cannot standup or move my hands, my entire leg hurts and the foot is swollen (it could be from the penicillin). I'm hoping it will go away after I come off prednisone but has anyone experienced long term pain from this drug?
I'm pretty sure my pain is from the allergic reaction. Has anyone had long term pain from any type of bullous reaction?

Prescribed for adult acne problem which started around the age of 40. Had one go at it over the winter and found it very effective in curing my skin. However I am an outside worker all be it in Scotland, with a second go prescribed in June. This was a different experiance all together with I guess the sun. I now have what can only be described as water blisters under the skin on my nose and just below my lower lip line. These can be so sore like as many others have described a burning stinging sensation that can come on for hours and then just go. Although they are noticable on my nose as any alteration in temprature makes them very noticable by a deep redness circling each blister. Have also entered into a very low feeling which could be the start of slight depression although not totaly sure, just always seem to have very low points in my day to day life that I never had before. These blisters are still there and burning even after two weeks of not taking this medication of Doxycycline 50mg capsules. Would appreciate any helpful advice or an idea if the burning blister ever goes away? Thank you.

I am on my 5th day of taking 25mg of lamictal and I have developed a sore blister cluster on the right side of my lower lip, a slight sore on the side of my tongue, my eye lid rims seem to itch, and I have to scratch a random itch on my body. I was just diagnosed as having bi-polar 11 disorder and had already have been taking prozac for a number of years for anxiety. The prozac was not helping by itself anymore and I am finding it harder and harder to keep a job. I, not to long ago, held Director positions in the Human Service field, and am now settling to take a job at a local retail store for a little more than minimum wage. Anyway, I was hoping to get the help I need from this new med but, feel it is probably not the right one for me. What will I be given next? I was given lamictal because of my fear of gaining weight an either depakote or lithium. I will call the clinic tomorrow and hope I will be squessed in to see a Dr. who can tell if this blister is from this or because i ate alot of fresh tomatoes recently. In the past , my love for tomatoes was worth the sore. but, sometomes i stayed away because i did not feel like dealing with the discomfort. Now I am rambling, but worried about this being a potential harmful side affect. Also, I do not need to become any more scattered brain then I have been lately. My own sanity seemed to deteriorate since my daughters behavior since 6th grade became umbearable. She is now in 10th grade and as of 8 months ago is not living with me. She called the police and I was jailed for a night and a day.My bility to cope with life became more and more difficult. I hope to find a regimen that will keep me from applying for disability. I am now 53 years old and have worked all of my life up until now. I feel like a kid trying to find out what I want to be when I grow up. Rambling again but this certainly has been helpful in that It gives me a chance to sort out my concerns. ThankYou

I experienced complete Loss of hearing in my left ear for 24 hours & stopped taking the Vioxx at the first sign of a problem.
A Blister also appeared on my left eye near my cornea the following day. Of course I went to both an eye specialist and hearing specialist to see if they could identify the problem. Neither doctor could figure out why this happened and would not admit that Vioxx might have been the culprit.
My pharmacist is the only one that thought the loss of hearing could have been a side effect caused by Vioxx. I had only been taking it for less than one week at the time both problems occured. I also had some of the usual side effects before the hearing and blister happened.
Doxycycline Hyclate (5) Levaquin (3) Bactrim (3) Lamictal (3) PredniSONE (2) Mirena (2) Doxepin Hydrochloride (1) NuvaRing (1) Sublimaze (1) Vioxx (1) Mobic (1) Tamiflu (1) Sulfamethoxazole (1) Femcon FE (1) SMZ-TMP DS (1) Simvastatin (1) Warfarin Sodium (1) Fosamax (1) Lipitor (1) Chantix (1) Remicade (1) Sulfamethoxazole-Trimethoprim DS (1)

I am 43 years old. Pack a day for 33 years. This is my second attempt on Chantix. First time was May 2009...only got to the nausea/weird dreams. I gave in and stopped and started smoking again. Then was faced with being charged a surcharge along with my health benefits because I was a smoker. So I decided to give it another shot. This time I started 12/6/2009 but didn't set a quit date ...didn't want to add pressure because this time had to be a success. My last cigarette was 12/27/09 at 9:00pm. This time I read everything, researched side effects on the web etc... Ok I am now 56 days smoke free. I am about to start my 12th week on Chantix. This is what I have experienced this time around. NAUSEA ...which I know to eat before taking the pill. I would take 1/2 pill after breakfast, 1/2 pill after lunch and a full dose at bedtime. THE DREAMS... I am beginning to realize if I take the dose later in the evening I'm sure to have dreams. They started out weird now I am having more disturbing ones. WEIGHT GAIN...so far 14 pounds. Figured I would deal with that once I am through with the meds. But I am becoming irritated because nothing fits. I feel like an egg with legs. SHORTNESS IN BREATH...within the first few weeks. Thought that was because I smoked. PALPITATIONS ... a few times but didn't think much about it. MOOD SWINGS...I'm already a moody person but not like this. I am at the point where this coming weekend I don't want to attend my parents 50th Anniversary celebration. Family from out of town will be there and I am sitting here hating the idea of being around any of them. Freaking out over little things. I could be laughing one minute and pissed the next. FACE BLEMISHES... like I said I'm 43 and I look like a 16 year old with bad acne. Some rash prior to the blister like pimples. Its getting worse. Another reason I don't want to attend the celebration. JOINT/MUSCLE PAIN... I have a physical job but for the past month its been unbearable. I hurt in every joint/muscle. I feel like my hands have broken bones in them when applying lotion. I don't want to move because it hurts. Last night I developed a pain in my back that feels like I have a kidney infection. I just read that someone else has this pain while on Chantix. NO ENERGY... in my head I have so much to do but my body won't move. Weekends have been a total waste since starting Chantix. MEMORY/MENTAL... I have had some forgetfulness, spaced out a few times, confusion, paranoia, resentful of but determined to quit smoking. I want to finish what I started but now I am truly frightened reading all the effects this medication might be having on people after they quit taking it. I am supposed to be feeling great and ready to conquer the world right? Wrong!!! I am going to try to cut my dosages down so I can wean off this medication within the next week. Hopefully, these side effects won't linger. I'm beginning to not want to be around myself. If I remember anything else I'll be back...but I want to say GOOD LUCK to all of us that gave this a chance in hopes of bettering out health...hoping that it hasn't backfired.
