This is not a first-hand experience, yet I would like to share the side-effects occured to my Mom. She was having high blood sugar levels for some time,
The Doc' insisted on Jenuvia though expensive and he said that since it is
produced naturally(from human body itself), there are no known side-effects.
Well I searched for Jenuvia side-effects because my Mom was complaining about increased heart rates, head aches and after going through the experiences on this page, well her joint-pains too can be attributed to Jenuvia.
India is not cautious of the usage of medicines, lack of monitoring authorities,Medics going for quick relief and perks on costly medicines from
Pharma Giants.. and to add a huge diabetic population in need of help..
It could adversely affect lives of millions.

I was prescribed medrol by my GP due to an ongoing rash that needed to get under control. I believe I had the 40mg dose/wein pack. The first two days I felt as though I were on speed. Day 2 at the grocery store I stopped to take my blood pressure because I was sure my heart was racing out of my chest. Thankfully, it wasn't and happened to be palpitations that I was having. I had hot flashes where my face and chest would get red like a sunburn. There were the sweats and the leg weakness/soreness. I did have sporadic headaches but, nothing a Tylenol wouldn't alleviate thank goodness. I've read here that numerous people had very bad headaches. My last day on the meds I started to experience the fatigue. Today is my first full day off and I certainly felt flu like. Sporadic lightheadedness, weakness and fatigue that would all come and go throughout my workday along with sporadic energy. I'm glad that I found this site so at least I know that this is normal and will subside in a few days. Other side effects I experienced were worsening of my post nasal drip along with a funny taste in my mouth, mood swings, insomnia, hyperactivity and muscle aches.

Straight from Wikipedia:
Metoprolol may worsen the symptoms of heart failure in some patients. Check with your doctor right away if you are having chest pain or discomfort; dilated neck veins; extreme fatigue; irregular breathing; an irregular heartbeat; shortness of breath; swelling of the face, fingers, feet, or lower legs; weight gain; or wheezing.

This medicine may cause changes in your blood sugar levels. Also, this medicine may cover up signs of low blood sugar, such as a rapid pulse rate. Check with your doctor if you have these problems or if you notice a change in the results of your blood or urine sugar tests.

This medicine may cause some people to become less alert than they are normally. If this side effect occurs, do not drive, use machines, or do anything else that could be dangerous if you are not alert while taking metoprolol .

Side effects
Transient effects include dizziness, lightheadedness, drowsiness, tiredness, diarrhea, unusual dreams, ataxia, trouble sleeping, depression, and vision problems. It may also reduce blood flow to the hands and feet, causing them to feel numb and cold; smoking may worsen this effect.

Serious side effects that are not to be tolerated for any length of time include symptoms of a very slow heartbeat (less than 50 bpm) (e.g. persistent dizziness, fainting, unusual fatigue), bluish discoloration of the fingers and toes, numbness/tingling/swelling of the hands or feet, sexual dysfunction, erectile dysfunction (impotence), hair loss, mental/mood changes, trouble breathing, cough, dyslipidemia, and increased thirst. Other highly unlikely symptoms include easy bruising or bleeding, persistent sore throat or fever, yellowing skin or eyes, stomach pain, dark urine, and persistent nausea. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness. Taking it with alcohol might cause mild body rashes and therefore is not recommended.

Why on earth do Doctors keep prescribing these medications that are doing more harm than good? They are causing so many other symptoms, no wonder our Health Care in this country is "out of sight". We take drugs that continue to make us sicker , sicker, and sicker, which require more testing, testing and testing....HELLO people...you need to ask yourselves if you "believe" what that Doctors are telling you. I don't, not anymore. They are SOOOO misinformed by the Pharmaceutical Rep pushing drugs that the DRUGS have become the REAL DISEASE! You need to go back to "square one"...and get off of everything.

My girlfriend age 62 was taking 14 different medications that included BP Meds, Cholesterol Meds, and on and on. She's now laying on a Ventilator from all the interactions these drugs have caused her. She cannot even lift her head of the pillow. Her memory is shot! Just another side affect of the drugs. Are there any Doctors out there who can "step out of the box" ? You're killing people with the drugs your prescribing because you don't understand the interactions they have with each other. You just keep on prescribing. You need to study each medication before you keep prescribing them.

I've been taking .25 of Toprol XL for about 5 years now. The firs few years were fine but the fatigue slowly starting getting worse. Now for the last 6 months I've been battling hypoglycemia. Does anyone know if the two could be related? It's a pretty awful feeling.

I LOVE LANTUS!!! I was diagnosed as Type 2 Diabetic in December 2008 when my blood sugar was 550 and I weighed 265 lbs. I am a 51 year old 6'tall woman. My physician prescribed 55units of Lantus am and again pm. My blood sugar now is between 80 and 110, and my weight is 180lbs. I take Lasix and Spironolactone for any swelling and have felt great ever since. I'm sure i'm very fortunate, but I must stress to be under the watchful eye of your Physician. Yes, there are other hormones that help with blood sugar levels, but please understand that it depends on the type and severity of you diabetes. I also can't understand anyone who has been told by two different physicians that she needs insulin but won't believe them. These physicians have nothing to gain financially from this. I just hope you have good insurance. If Lantus isn't right for you, fine, but PLEASE get professional guidence if you have Diabetes. The internet is NOT always the most informed source of information. A. in Austin

I read with interest several of the posts here. I have been on Lipitor for about 5 years. I have been experiencing leg pain, back pain, neck, and hand pain for likely 4 of the last 5 years. I have arthritis, I thought. Two weeks ago I ran out of Lipitor. I read several other forums where Vitamin C and Omega 3 were suggested as a possibles to replacing the Lipitor along with generous amounts of water. I said, What the hell, I will give that a try. Within days of stopping the Lipitor, most all the pain has subsided to the extent that I have not had to take any other Pain management medications at all. I was prescribed Perocet for the pain I have been experiencing. Two weeks ago, I had a tough time opening a bottle of soda, or even a relish or pickle jar. Today I can! Coincidence, I think not!!

I have experienced the muscle/joint aches (thought I was getting arthritis) and blurred vision, but never thought Advair to blame till now.
Had blood test and discovered my sugar level is way too high and now they're worried about diabetes! I see on the side effects that Advair can effect blood sugar levels. Anyone else have this problem?
I should add that I am not a normal diabetes candidate - no family history and I've been thin all my life.

This was posted by a doctor who is treating a group of girls who have been very ill since their vaccinations. I thought it would be helpful to those of you struggling with side-effects. I will pray for all of you.

1. Reduce exposure to food allergens, especially foods containing gluten. Gluten is known to cause damage to the nervous system (brain and nerves). Email me (******) and I will send you a list of foods that contain gluten. I do not bother to try to figure out food allergies (there are NO good allergy tests). Just restrict the diet to meat (chicken, turkey, lamb and fish), vegetables (no tomatoes, eggplant or potatoes), and homemade chicken broth.

2. Manage blood sugar levels by eating protein every 2 hours. This helps maintain proper levels of glucose in the blood. In women, this helps to reduce high testosterone levels and feeds the cells so they can function properly. Also, proper glucose levels are necessary for correct brain function. The brain only weighs 2-3 pounds but uses 1/3 of the body’s glucose. Without a healthy functioning brain there is nothing to orchestrate healing in the body.

3. Manage any anemic condition. There are many types of anemia. Iron anemia is only one type. NEVER take iron unless you know you have iron anemia. Low iron levels on a blood test do not mean you are iron anemic. Iron toxicity is very damaging; taking iron can cause tremendous inflammation as well as oxidative stress on the body. It is a must if you need it but detrimental if you don’t.

4. Reduce homocysteine levels to below 5. At levels above 5 there is the possibility of barrier breakdown. There is a gray area between 5 and 7. Levels absolutely have to be below 7 but I do not like to gamble so I choose to get them below 5.

5. Take care of ALL gut infections and these can be analyzed with stool tests. There are many different types of stool testing out there. The ones your traditional M.D. will order are not sufficient (we have had many patients show false negatives with these). The test I use in my office is by Metametrix Laboratory. It is DNA type testing and is the most sensitive test around.

6. You must fix the barriers. This can be done in different ways and is too complicated to explain here.

7. Drink half your body weight in ounces of water per day (Example: 120 pound person would need to drink 60 ounces or about 2 liters of water per day. Water does not include juice, soda, milk, etc.

The above list is not comprehensive, but it’s a good foundation. There is nothing more heartbreaking than to watch a child’s health decline due to a vaccination that a doctor recommends. If your child is suffering, my prayers are with you. Do not underestimate the power of prayer when it comes to healing. Healing cannot take place without the will of God.

May God bless you and your family with His power of healing.

This is crazy...I had this IUD place on 12-2-08 exactly 1 month later to the date & I'm starting to experience some if not all of the same symptoms I'm reading about. My husband had a vasectomy after our last child so, I'm not using it for BC but, more less because I had such horrible periods. So, in order to bypass a hysterectomy my Kaiser doctor suggested Mirena. The procedure was painful even with the anesthetic I was like oh my Gosh!! (I wasn't even told to come back in 6 weeks to have a checkup only if I was having problems) I had cramping for about 1 day then after that I thought all was good. Well, that's what I thought until my husband and I had sex since the procedure. During the climax I experienced such a painful feeling in my uterus as if it was spasms, squeezing or a really hard cramp. The pain was so severe I had to stop in the middle of sex & couldn't continue. It did this about once or twice every time we had sex then, it stopped. Now the sex is amazing. My SEXUAL DRIVE has really increased. About a week ago, I was feeling overwhelmed with my daughter's Bday & Xmas. I was really tired just really exhausted. I stayed in the house for 3 days straight. Didn't feel like getting out of bed, getting dressed, going anywhere, cooking or doing anything. I just wanted to lay in bed. I really didn't know or understand what was going on. I told my husband I didn't feel depressed or nothing I just didn't feel like doing anything. Well, now I know I was depressed. I've never felt or had any experience of this sort. Then, on yesterday I had alot of lower back pain, headaches along with cramping in my R-ovary. Not to mention the irregular spotting since the IUD has been placed. I knew I would have irregular spotting but, how long is irregular going to be irregular. And after reading several blogs I'm starting to reconsider this. I"ve had alot of issues with BC starting with the pills (forgetting to take them), the DEPO shot (would not recommend to a dog), the Patch & now the Mirena. MayB, it's time to leave all of this along and just get the hysterectomy. But, wait won't that throw me into menopause at an early age. I'm only 31. Not sure what to do?

I started off with dizzyness the first few months after I got the Mirena. Then I started having bad cramps and spotting. Now I have really bad cramps and heavy periods. As well as hair loss since month 3. I have had the Mirena for about 10 1/2 months and I can't wait to take it out in a couple of weeks. It has not been right for me. The hair loss is very severe, and I hope my hair grows back. I should have researched it before jumping on it so quick, I hate it!!!!!

My doctor decided to switch my medication from Actos (15mg. daily) to Januvia (50 mg. daily) to try to get better blood sugar levels (120-130 mornings). Took Januvia for about three weeks. After two weeks, started experiencing sleep disturbance (waking every few hours), chest pain, digestive distress (could barely eat toast and eggs), anxiety, and flu-like symptoms (muscle aches, headache) which I thought was my fibromyalgia flaring. Went online yesterday and found this website which described many of my symptoms. Never associated them with Januvia. Did not take medication yesterday and feel 95% better today. I will not take this medication again. Also, Januvia did not lower my blood sugars. In fact, morning readings were higher (140-165).

60 year old male on zocor for approximately 10 years. taking 80 mg daily.
only recently (within the last 18 months) i noticed some changes going on.
first i had joint pain in my feet, both feet, same areas. the foot pain went away but then the pain traveled up to the back of my legs, behind the knee,
when the muscle or tendons attach. every time i sat for awhile, then got up, the pain was brutal. that lasted about 3 months. later the pain shot up to the joints in my hands. both hands, same place on both hands. when i rotate my thumb or move it, the knuckle area of the thumbs, same place,
hurt bad. i will confront my health care provided at the va on these issues.
she disregarded my previous remarks and said arthritis, hands and feet and perhaps i overextended something at the gym on my behind the knee issue.
i think she is wrong. recently i had a severe cold and did not take the zocor for two days. the thumb pain subsided substantially. i resumed and the pain came back. now it feels as if the pain will travel back down to behind my knees again as i am beginning to feel a pull. any others out there with these issues???

I'am 45 year old female and I have been on simvastatin 40mg for at least 6 months. Here in the past 3 weeks I have had very weak legs and arms, they felt like they were wet noodles. I also was getting these week spells where it felt like I couldn't lift my arms or legs cause they was so weak.I had pain in my ear and big bad headaches that wouldn't leave. My heart feels like it skips a beat and I get very bad anxiety attacks. I have been to the ER several times and they can not find anything wrong. I even got very dizzy. The ER doctor told me that the dizziness and headaches was from a inter ear disturbance, well I think the inter ear disturbance might have come from the simvastatin after running across this web site. I'm going off the simvastatin tomorrow! Oh yeah and forgot to mention the weight gain and the tiredness and how I feel like a couch zombie. I think I'll stick to my salmon oil.

PLEASE HELP! My father, age 74, was on lipitor for a year or so and then was switched to zocor a few weeks ago to help control his cholestorol. In the past week, the tightening he experienced in his leg, while on lipitor, has become debilitating leg pain now while he is on Zocor. Ultrasounds have ruled out a blood clot. He has no pain when he sits, but he describes the pain has his calf wanting to explode when he stands and he cannot walk with out the help of a cain. The pain radiates from his leg up to his hip.

His cardiologist has taken him off the zocor for a few weeks to see if there is an improvement. It has been 3 days and he feels a bit of relief. SO here is the million dollar question: His labs indicate his cholestorol is normal now, most likely thanks to the statins.....can anyone suggest another form of meds that will help regulate his cholestorol....say COeq10 and fish oil? Any help is SO appreciated!!! Thanks to each of you for your posts. It is so comforting for my dad to know he isn't developing a new issue and that it can be resolved with the removal of zocor!

From Indiana,
I was put on the Dexpak for Rhuematoid Arthritis flare up. I started it on the 10 th of Sept. 2008 on a Wed. By Sat my pain level was better but the side effects were in full charge. I had shortness of breath to the extent that my voice being high pitched. Sun. I awoke to my vision being very distorted and the shortness of breath. I made it through the day and on Mon everything was really bad. I ended up in the ER. Hardly able to breathe and distorted vision. I was treated as if I were having a heart attack. Then when all the blood test started coming back I was asked how long had I been a Diabete.I'M NOT!!!
My blood sugar level was 416. I was given two insulin shots and watched closely and when the level got down to 295 I was sent home.
I missed a week of work and still battling a blood sugar level that is high.
I was taken off the DEXPAK. But put on medicine for diabetes and just praying everything returns to normal.
After 1 week my vision is better, but not where it was before. Blood sugar levels still elevated and may have to go insulin.
I would highly recommend not taking this drug, and in my opinion it needs to off the market.

Hi. My original post is July 29, 2008. I have read a few testimonials about elevated blood sugar levels with Diovan. I'm wondering if anyone who experienced a high resting sugar reading approaching diabetes saw that figure drop when they went off of Diovan.
My blood sugar was previously normal but has risen to a pre-diabetic state despite the fact I am losing weight.
As for the pain in my back and legs, I am controlling that with Naproxen as the alternative drug the doctor prescribed did not work. The pain is under control and I am able to work out so I can lose enough weight to be able to discontinue the Diovan. But I am now very concerned about the posts related to Diabetes. Would appreciate any input on this. Thanks.

I have been on Diovan 160 for two years. Have put on 10 - 12 lbs. Have developed low sodium levels, muscle pain and slightly elevated blood sugar levels. Is low sodium level a possible side effect of taking Diovan?

I had some really odd-ball side effects from Lyrica. I was on 150mg twice a day for fibromyalgia, and it seemed to work initially. I was feeling pretty good, and thought I, too, had found an answer to my aches and pains. After about two months, I noticed that my hair was falling out and turning gray (I was 39 at the time). I hadn't had a menstral period that second month, either. I told every doctor I saw about these strange symptoms, but was prompty ignored.

The third month, I began to gain weight like crazy. I ended up gaining a little over 20lbs during the year-long treatment. My skin was dry and thickening around my thumbs and heels. My energy level began to really go down (it was never that high to begin with). My fingernails became brittle and broke with the slightest provocation. The grayer and falling out hair was coarser, too. I also was either sleeping all the time for days, or then couldn't sleep at all for days.

By the sixth month, I noticed that my wounds were also taking longer to heal. Being diabetic for the last 29 years, I thought that maybe neuropathy was starting to set in. Up to that point, I had never had any signs of neuropathy, and always was in good control of my blood sugar levels. Now, I was beginning to get worried.

The eighth month forward brought cracked heels, cracked toes, cracked fingers and thumbs. I began to have pitting edema, which I immediately informed my Rheumatologist about. I have chronic renal insufficiency, though not diabetic related. It was a gift from my OB/GYN during pregnancy when I became eclamptic. The edema was so bad that blisters appeared on my ankles and would not go away, no matter how high up I rested with my legs. My skin hurt all around my legs, and soon started to notice my face also swelling. Still, no comments from any of my numerous doctors.

After a year of all this strange stuff, I took myself off of the Lyrica. It was a hard choice, as the meds helped to silence the strangling pain in my muscles. Within a month after discontinuing the drug, my period came back. Three months later I noticed that both my hair and nails were stronger, and my hair wasn't falling out as much.

Six months later, and I notice now that my wounds heal like they used to. My hair isn't as coarse, and my nails are much stronger. My sleep schedule is still not right, and I still have the deep cracks and crevices to my thumbs and heels, but it is much better than it had been. I have also since tried Lamictal, but am having tachycardia and shortness of breath, along with a marked rise in my blood pressure. This, too, I discontinued and am feeling somewhat better. The muscle aches and pains and fatigue are back with a vengeance, but I will put up with them as long as I can. I am on so many meds anyway, that my body is probably kissing my toes in thanks!

Luck to all who are on this drug, and hope it works for you without all the weird side effects I put up with!

My experience with Yasmin was decreased aggression, mood stability and increased breast size. when I stopped taking the drug, I had an increase in aggression, less fatigue and no weight loss.

My T-3 levels are fine. My blood work is fine. Not many headaches. My mood became more depressed when I stopped taking Yasmin.

Not sure if I am suited to take the drug. So, I am starting Yasmin again to see if I notice side-effects. My estrogen levels were low prior to starting Yasmin the first time. So, I am wondering if my testosterone is a bit too high, and if Yasmin levels me out so to speak.

I think those with normal estrogen levels, prior to taking Yasmin, are badly affected by Yasmin. I wonder if those of us, with lower natural estrogen levels are as badly affected by Yasmin.

Will let this site know in a few months.

ALSO get this pill from Canada - ******
It costs $22 and it is the exact same packaging, etc.

Hope this helps

Increase in POCS and obesity due to young-age use of progesterones?2 March 2006

Ellen C G Grant,
physician and medical gynaecologist
Kingston-upon-Thames, KT2 7JU, UK
Send response to journal:
Re: Increase in POCS and obesity due to young-age use of progesterones?
Professor Balen and colleagues write that PCOS is increasing because more women are becoming obese.1 Progesterone use can cause rapid weight gain and many adolescent girls therefore refuse to continue taking the Pill.
In an attempt to cut the numbers of unplanned teenage pregnancies more longer-acting forms of progesterone are being used. Unfortunately depo medroxyprogesterone acetate (DMPA) caused significantly greater weight gain with longer use in adolescent girls than the Pill. After 18 months obese girls gained 9 kg while non-obese girls gained 4 kg. The authors considered that the potential contribution of DMPA to severe obesity in adolescents is concerning.2 DMPA is reported to have no inherent oestrogenic or androgenic effects, which suggests that weight gain induced by DMPA is a progestogenic effect.
Use of progestogens can also increase the risk of PCOS. In the Walnut Creek Contraceptive Drug Study significantly more oral contraceptive users aged 18-39 had non-functioning ovarian cysts than never users (50/7506 with 4/2556).3 Fewer functioning cysts would be expected in users of progestogens designed to stop ovaries functioning. Use of fertility drugs can also cause ovarian cysts.
Progestogen use also increases the risk of diabetes. In a study of 210 women taking 150 µg levonorgestrel and 30 µg ethinyl oestradiol, 60% had stopped by 15 months and only 8% were current users at 3 years. Glucose tolerance tests deteriorated into the diabetic rangein 6 women but improved when oral contraceptives were stopped for side-effects including weight gain.4
It is reasonable that obese women with PCOS are not given fertility drugs risking more ovarian cyst development and further weight gain. Advice about weight reducing high protein/low allergy diets and life-style changes is preferable.

It saddens me to read all the horrible effects this drug has caused. My husband took Levaquin back in August 2007and after 2 days starting have aching muscles, joints, drenching night sweats, high fever, rash. He took this poison drug for days(for a swollen lymph node in groin) and the side effects would not go away. He too was a very healthy 43 year old who worked out 4-5 times a week and very physically fit. This went on for months. He was tested for TB, AIDS, Lyme disease, I think every infectious disease and lymphoma, all came back negative. In Oct. 2007 he was hospitalized for 6 days and we were told that he had a very rare disease called Still's Disease. (google it and read about it please) I with all my heart and soul feel that LEVAQUIN brought this disease on. There is very little known about Still's but it's scary to think that doctors are giving this poison to patients. My husband has been on daily injections of Kineret, Methotrexate and Predisone since October and thank God these meds have given him relief. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE LEVAQUIN and tell all you family, friends and co-workers about it!

I just started using a prescription of Welchol. After two days, I am seriously thinking of discontinuing taking it. I am not prone to anxiety at all, and since I started using this, I have some anxiety and I am generally uncomfortable. Some gas and constipation. My heart rate is up a little. I really don't like this feeling of anxiety at all. I am taking Synthroid and Benicar.

While januvia has helped my blood sugar levels to drop, I have noticed thinning hair and a sore tongue! My tongue will swell slightly causing it to scallop along the edges, especially when I'm sleeping. This swelling causes me to bite my tongue. Does anyone else have this side effect?

Hi again ....I went to see my G.P regarding my symptoms posted here 18th Jan. He has ordered blood tests for kidney, liver, thyroid function, blood sugar levels and a full blood count....he doesn't feel that the symptoms I have are attributed to the lisinopril therefore I am back on this drug again!! I am not so sure and I will wait to see if the blood tests reveal any problems. If not I intend to carry on like this for another 3 months and then I will approach my Doctor again if I am still experiencing the same problems and suggest that we try an alternative BP drug! In the meantime I found that the itching had abated after not taking the lisinopril I guess I am going to be a scratch bag again!! Thanks Jill xx
