Prednisone cut off the blood supply to my femurs, and they died. Now I am getting total hip replacements at 40 yrs old. Prednisone ruined my life , STAY AWAY FROM IT IF AT ALL POSSIBLE, if you can't make sure you take as low a dosage as possible.

About 8 weeks ago i was doing a really hard training session and had to pull out because of severe chest pain. i was taken to hospital where i was for 2 weeks and told i had multiple 'quite substantial' clots in both my lungs which had caused tissue death through lack of blood supply - pretty scary for a fit and healthy 18 year old. since then ive been having INR blood tests twice a week and been on Warfarin. they say i have to be on it for 6 months then they can test to see if its a genetic thing and if i'll have to be on it forever. im doing just as much exercise now as i was before it happened but i've put on about 5kgs. have other people been told they can't drink while on Warfarin? i asked my doc if he meant moderation or zero and he was like 'do you want to have a stroke?'
what 18 year old gets PE? it's such an old person thing, and seriously stuffed up my life, hopefully only for now.

I've been on Trileptal for about a month now and am up to 900 mg, though I expect to come down from this dose because of the dizziness it causes. I am also troubled by a numb tongue, bad taste in my mouth, and swollen lips. One thing I'm experiencing that I haven't read about yet is an increase in the white part of certain fingernails--the white area at the tips of both ring fingers has doubled. At first I thought this might be due to kidney disease, but now I'm wondering if it's simply due to decreased blood supply to my fingers, which do feel a little numb. I'd appreciate anyone's feedback on this.

Here is the link to the information about vitamin deficiency and medications. You can search different types of meds so I hope it is helpful...this is where I was able to go through and figure out which vitamins would be useful for me to take to help with the side effects. Now this is good because these are vitamins that Topamax is absorbing ouot of your body so all you are doing is replenishing it into your body to help prevent the side effects. The only side effects that I couldn't really find a vitamin for was the eye strain (and after asking the pharmacist she said that is a nerve thing so there wouldn't be anything) if you are having that, and the weight loss. Hope this is helpful. I have been searching since my first post hoping I could find the link...

Been on warfarin about 3 weeks due to an a-fib condition.. Dose is 2.5mg a day. Since starting I cannot sleep, feel very tired and fatigued and slight sour stomach. Doctors say this is due to the a-fib but I don't think so. All I hear from my doctors is no side effects. Hs anyone else experienced these symptoms, and/or is there a website where I can find some answers.

I have received kenalog injections (only one) per year during allergy season for severe allergic rhinitis. I was recently out of town and was miserable and tha local ER would not give me the injection. The reason was beacause it can cause avascular necrosis especially involving the head of the femur. Which means it can slow down the blood supply to
the top of the femur and cause the bone to die. I had never heard of this before and I will probably still take this injection as planned when I get back to town.

I have been on Lupron for a year (I receive the lowest dose in a monthly injection) for treatment of endometriosis of the sciatic nerve. I also take add back therapy, daily dose of norethindrone 5mg. I am told that I will have to take Lupron for the rest of my life because my case is so severe. You can't surgically remove endometriosis on the sciatic nerve because it feeds the blood supply of the nerve. The add back therapy eliminated the hot flashes but otherwise I'm MISERABLE. I have extreme fatigue, 10 lb weight gain, complete short term memory loss, very irritable and very on the edge. Lately, I have also been experiencing episodes where I feel like I am going to faint. I am grateful that I am no longer crippled with pain but I just can't take this drug anymore. I am scheduled for another monthly dose next week but have decided that I am not going to take this medication anymore. My doctor and I are discussing what my options are.
