My post is going to read similarly to all the other posts. It's 2:45 a.m. and I got up, feeling like I was having a heart attack. I went online to see if I could learn more about Lisinopril. I've been taking 10mg for just over two weeks. I've been short of breath, wheezing, sore throat just started, had chest pains and palpitations, lowered body temperature, and mild anxiety. I was put on this medication to lower significantly elevated blood pressure -- at times as high as 212/106. That scared me! I don't want to have a stroke and yet, on this medication, I feel terrible. My BP is lower which is good and my headaches have subsided, but considering the side effects I've already experienced, I'm reluctant to continue with this drug. I see my doctor on in a couple of days and I'm hoping she has a better option. I also take Atenolol and am wondering if upping that dosage is a viable option as I've had no notable side effects with that drug. Thank you all for your posts.

I started taking Avelox 9 days ago. I was prescribed 14 days of Avelox after a round of Ceftin failed to clear up a sinus infection.
I am an avid tennis player, playing 3-5 times a week. My first bad experience happened yesterday when I went out to play and as soon as I walked outside I had a head to toe tingling feeling. This felt like I had chills but no goosebumps were showing. Over an hour or so later, the goosebumps showed up. This was in 90 degree heat!! I first thought it was dehydration, which it may have been, since I didn't seem to be able to get enough water/Gatorade no matter how much I would drink. This is even at night when I am not in the heat!!
I didn't take the medicine today. Played again this morning. I had the same tingling feeling head to toe, but no chills this time. To explain the tingling, I told a friend my skin felt like it was creepy crawly! It was a horrible feeling again in extreme heat!
I, also, have a hamstring that feels a lil tinge to it. I never have these problems and I am guessing this is due to the medicine, too.
If I walk outside, my body temperature feels like it shoots up! Even though I do not have a fever.
I went to my doctor's office and he is out of town! I asked to see another Dr. and he was "too busy to see me" since he was trying to get to the hospital! I was told to call my family Dr.which I did, only to be told he was also booked and I couldn't be seen. So, I gave up! And, not taking the medicine anymore!! Never again. This will be on my list of 'Allergic to.'
I usually have no side effects from medicines.

I've been reading the responses to this medication, and I have to say I'm shocked. I've been experiencing most of the side effects on this site, and I thought I was starting to lose my mind.

I've always had panic and anxiety disorder, and I had developed an inner ear infection 4 months ago. This was also AFTER I quit smoking and started exercising and eating healthier. Well quitting smoking gave me horrible panic attacks that would last 3 or 4 hours at a time, and when I woke up that morning feeling dizzy I panicked because I had never experienced an inner ear infection.

I went to the hospital 3 days later because I was so dizzy and I was experiencing numbness in my face and left arm. I thought I was having either a stroke or heart attack, and it turned out my heart was just fine but my blood pressure was 195/105. They immediately put me on Lisinopril and Metoprolol to bring my BP down. They said I had high blood pressure brought about by obesity and panic disorder (no crap?).

I took the metoprolol for about a week before I started noticing my hands and feet go cold and my heart rate was dipping down into the 30's. Being someone who reads up on his medication, I knew what medication was causing what and I stopped taking it. My heart rate went back to normal and my body temperature went from 96 back to 98.6.

The only thing I was taking was Lisinopril 10mg which my doctor later increased to 20mg. After this I started feeling like I was constantly hanging upside down because my whole head felt so congested. I figured the ear infection was coming back again and didn't give it a second thought. Then the panic attacks started getting so bad, worse than I've ever had before. I was experiencing panic attacks 3 to 4 times a day (I still do, but I'm going to stop taking Lisinopril after today). The dizziness came back as more of a light-headed feeling, despite still having medium-high blood pressure. Since being on Lisinopril, my blood pressure stays in the 130/80 range, going as high as 145/90 during the day. What a help that was.

I also noticed my heart rate dip again. For 2 weeks my resting heart rate was around 51 and lower, though my blood pressure was still high. This is unusual for me, this past week my heart has been racing with a resting heart rate of around 106. I went from bradycardia to tachycardia in a matter of days. My hair has been falling out, my body temperature has been low, my heart rate is all over the place with Hell's own palpitations, I'm getting chest pains every now and then, my neck and head have been hurting, I've been coughing so hard I throw up, my stomach hurts, I have diarrhea and bad heart burn.

And on top of all of that, I'm so fatigued I can barely get out of bed half the time. And this is while eating VERY HEALTHY and walking 2 miles a day! ***? I thought maybe it was my thyroid (I'm scheduled to have blood tests for that next week), but now I'm quite convinced this "medicine" is the root of all my problems.

If I want low blood pressure, I will have to continue losing the weight, and eating less salt, because I will NEVER do this again.

I loved it for years! I went on the NuvaRing in late 2005 and I recently discontinued the use of it (Jan 2009). I was suffering from 3 periods a month for years and no pill or even the Depo shot helped me. The NuvaRing cleared it up beautifully! I had regular and relatively pain-free periods and I could not have been happier.

A few months ago I started experiencing some major PMS symptoms that I have never experienced before. I gained 15 pounds over the course of 5 months and by breasts were swollen to the point that my nipples were dry and cracking (and yes, 4 different pregnancy tests confirmed that I was NOT pregnant). I was going insane with mood swings and I just felt like a jittery crappy mess all the time. My body temperature also dropped a full degree on average from what it was a year ago and I am really sensitive to cold now.

So, I discontinued the use of the Ring and started taking a vitamin regiment that I found other Ring users found useful (B-Complex, zinc, selenium, Evening primrose, and a multi-vitamin).

I have not lost the weight yet, despite working out 3-4 times a week with weight-training and cardio. The doctors have told me to wait it out for a year. It bums me out, but it's worth it. I have been on hormones for 9 years and it is time to be natural again. Thanks for listening.

I've had positive and negative side effects. The positive are I've had awesome sweet booty time since I've started the ring, I haven't gained weight (I've gained as much as 50 pounds on other birth controls just to lose that weight when I came off), less body hair, and my anxiety has pretty much cleared up (I've been taking a low dose of zoloft but have pretty much quit since I've been on nuvaring, except I'll take half when I start to have withdrawals).
The bad side effects are cramps (but those cleared up for me), a longer period (4 days, which isn't bad, but my normal period is only 1 to 2 days in length), headaches (which I've been getting every day), some mild nausea, lethargy, and I've been getting pimples all over my butt region!
I can't decide if it's worth it or not. I really like the pros but the headaches and super tiredness just aren't much fun.
Oh I've been craving sweets like crazy, too!
But, so far, Nuvaring has been not too bad for me. If the headaches don't ease up, I'm going to try pop's again and if I still have problems there, then I may try basal body temperature. Anybody know how effective BBT is?

I am on my second time around with Topiramate (generic Topamax). It has been a year, and I have no reason other than weight loss to take this drug. I also don't know if the online generic versions are really Topamax except I do experience some of the side effects I read about, the tingling arms and legs, the itching, and the foul tasting carbonated drinks. I have started at 25 mg. per day 3 days ago, and am at 250 mg today with no cut in appetite except an hour after I take the pills. Do you think they are even real?

It seems like I am the only one to use the Nuvaring for more than a couple of months. I have been on it for about 3 years now. I have loved it until the past 6 months or so. I now am having severe night sweats and a general increase in body temperature all of the time. My sex drive has decreased drastically as well. I have not had any weight or mood fluctuations though. I change the ring to a new one every 3 weeks to avoid having a period altogether. That has been great, but I have been experiencing horrible cramping at random times in the month and sex has become extremely painful due to the cramping afterwards. I guess I can say the 2 years without side effects was great, but I am going to switch this month. I cant take this extreme body temperature any longer. Maybe the birth "control" is to make you feel so crappy, that you don't want to have sex.

Hi,

I have hot flushes (feels like my body temp is out of control, with profuse sweating).
Morning aches and stiffness in joints).
I used to have sexual dysfunction before I started testosterone decanoate injection.)
I also used to have horrible fatigue and apathy.
I still have depression.
Since methadone has a negative effect on the various endocrinal mechanisms in the hypothalamus and pituitary, it makes sense that it would interfere with body temperature homeostasis.
I am on 100mg a day.
APC.

Numerous side effects including but not limited to: spontaneous tendon rupture (right distal bicep), CNS agitation accompanied by anxiety and panic, extreme fatigue, digestive problems, on-going fluctuations of blood sugar level, rapid changes in body temperature, nausea, etc.

Some here insist on reporting the "good" this stuff has done (other than lining some peoples pockets with profits). I disagree. As I post this I see 2250 adverse effects have been posted previously. I urge yo all to look deeper ask the question: "Why so many problems with this class of drug?" The 2250 number is only for Levaquin..... don't forget to add in all the responses for all of the other drugs in the quinolone family. And while you are at it, find out how many other drugs have death as a side effect and how many have been reported. This is a defective drug.

Despite the messages I've seen on this board, I actually have a success story. I've always had horrible experiences with birth control and this pill took time and patience, but I feel *so* much better now that I'm on it. The first 2 weeks were tough - and any birth control will take time to adjust to...you're putting hormones in your body after all - but now my mood swings are gone, my period is regulated plus it's lighter and shorter, I don't have any bloating or water retention, and my acne does not flare up at random.

The only side effects I've had are early afternoon headaches, which have nearly disappeared now that I'm in my second month. My body temperature has even stabilized so I'm not cold all the time (iron in the pill..??).

I was pretty determined to give this a good try because I was starting to completely skip over my period for some reason, and without a regular cycle I was gaining weight out of no where despite my desperate attempts to lose it (I was near anorexic and *still* gaining weight), I was a psycho b*%ch to be around, and when I'd wake up in the morning, my stomach was so bloated I looked pregnant! I'll take the slight side effects of this pill over that any day!

I am 67 years old and I had a PSA level of 5.7 as of April 16th 2008. In the year 2000 my PSA level was 11 and Dr did biopsy and found no issues. On May 8th my present Dr prescribed Levaquin 500 Mg to treat my PSA. As of today I have taken 18 tablets of Levaquin 500 mg. On May 24th evening I started getting fever tiredness and diarrhea. Took Paracetamol 500 mg to reduce fever. Temperature reduced to 97. If I didn't take any fever reducing medicine my body temperature started increasing. on May 26th temperature started increasing and it reached 102.6 and got admitted into emergency. At emergency they did run several tests and later discharged asking me to continue with fever reducing medicine. Also I was told to continue with Levaquin 500mg. Though I am taking fever reducing medicine with Levaquin, today my body temperature reached 105. On May 19th,2008 I had a blood test and came to know that my PSA had reached 6.2. I don't want to take Levaquin any more.

A couple of other symptoms I didn't mention before are I still get cold a lot and ibuprofen is my best friend because of all the aches and pains. But running on 3-5 hours of sleep a night with the occasional 7 hours has definitely diminished the quality of my life.

I have taken adderall xr 30mg once a day for 4 years and have noticed many different emotional levels and behavioral changes. At only 20 i am starting to become concerned with my mental state as of now and in the future. I have experimented with the drug and found that i can take 8 30mg pills at once and survive it, not recommended at all.

My daughter is ten years old and has had breathing problems since she was born, diagnosed with asthma/RAD when she was 2 or 3. She has been on several different medications since two or three including Singulair. To date she has been diagnosed with osteochondritis dissecans(bone necrosis in her knee), recurrent UTI's with kidney reflux and had a deflux surgery a few years ago, cold urticaria (hives when her body temperature is rewarming and vision problems. We just recently switched her Advair discus to a regular Advair inhaler with a spacer because her voice changed and had swollen tonsils for over two months. She has had stomach pains forever which I thought was from bladder infections but they are now getting worse with vomiting. After a few years I strongly believe that it is not from her bladder infections because she always has a trace of nitrates in her urine whether she has stomach pains or not. After reading the listings on this site I am definitely looking into this further. She has always had a very hard time with her emotions and anxiety and been very frustrated in not being able to control it. She gets headaches a lot. she also gets extremely bad cold sores. I am positive that these drugs we give are children need more long term studies to learn the short and long term-side effects. It is very frustrating to me that all these people have very similar side effects and nothing is being done. I just spent last night in the emergency room with my daughter having horrible stomach pains and vomiting again. No fever, normal stools etc. I will definitely be bringing this up ar our next doctor visit and be writing the manufacturer. Good luck to everyone out there. I sure hope some studies will be done soon and that we can find an answer to our problems. God Bless You All!

Let me just start off by saying that I have not had any allergic reactions to medications before. I don't have allergies to any foods or external stimuli like dust or pollen. But literally two minutes after taking Avelox, I started sneezing uncontrollably. Then my nose filled with mucus and I started itching all over my body, most notably on my arms, legs, and scalp. Then I felt that my skin was burning. I looked in the mirror and my face and body were bright pink. I called the pharmacist and she told me to take Benadryl and if my throat started to close up I should go to the hospital. Well, I didn't have any Benadryl, because I don't have any allergies, so I had to drive three blocks to the CVS. At this point, my face is starting to swell up: my eyelids, my nose, my lips and my ears are twice their normal size. I have hives all over my arms and legs. I'm shaking because I feel so cold--my body temperature was only 94 degrees. I took two Benadryl but it didn't really work until I took the 2nd dose four hours later. I ended up at the hospital because I felt like there was something stuck in my throat and was unsure whether that meant that my throat was closing up, but they were so busy that I never made it past triage, where my blood pressure was only 80/40 and my heart rate was 120. We waited in the waiting room until I was able to take the second dose of Benadryl and left. All this after only one dose. I would advise extreme caution with Avelox.

The Dr. gave me Effexor xr 75mg for my depression and 0.5 mg every 6 hrs of Xanax. Since then he lowered my Effexor xr to 35mg. During that period I gained 20 lbs and now I have excessive sweating constantly at least 5 times a day just as if I was coming out a flu like symptom.

My depression is still there buy not as bad but I started to get worried about what was causing the excessive sweating until I saw this site. I will set and appointment with the doctor tomorrow and see what the next plan of attack will be.

I know I was really bad with panic attacks and depression but know I could like to not take any more medications at all. With the help of God and I will recover from my depression and panic attacks. I had depression, panic attacks rasing heart beats, could not focus, memory loss, constant crying, fear. I when to the ER twice tacking I had a heart attack. All heart exams normal.

Now I have to deal with getting off the pills and live a normal life. How can I do this?

My son Colin who is 9 has been on Singulair for about two years now and I am getting very concerned about him. It started a few months back where the school nurse sent him home a couple of times because of an unexplained hives only on his hands. Every time the dog scratches him, the scratches swell . Yesterday he had red blotches just around his mouth. We are talking about an extremely shy boy who all of the sudden will not listen to the school teacher. He lashes out and goes into these unexplained rages. He complains of stomach pain and is nauseas all the time.He does get headaches and seems depressed.Last weekend and this weekend, friend of ours experienced the whole freaked out incident. One minute Colin will be fine, the next minute seems like a panic attack. I really was starting to believe it was behavioral but I now am convinced it is his medication Singulair!!

I have been on Singulair for just over a year now and I never thought I had any side effects from it until my fiance told me I shouldn't stay on a tablet for too long and to check on the net for the dangers, so I found this site. I said I have not had any side effects but having read a number of side effects experience from other people I can now recall within the last year telling my fiance:
1) Lately I feel like I am nearly going to have a panic attack, only sometimes and I don't know what brings on this thought.
2) Sometimes I stop eating something because I get this sudden thought in my head that I am allergic to it and my throat will swell up, and I start convincing myself my throat is swelling a little bit, and then I feel like I am going to have a panic attack
3) I experience the itchy hands every few months, and itchy eyes
4) Two weeks ago I took two days off work because I was so lethargic and so unmotivated, went to the doctor and he could not explain why I felt like that. The same week I was feeling very depressed.
5) I had a huge row a few months back with my fiance and for the first time in my life the thought came into my head about what it would be like to commit suicide, I wouldn't do it, but the fact I was curious is scary
6) I have strange dreams all the time, and now I recall that when I started singularity I knew this was a side effect and accepted it
7) Here is a new one, not sure if anyone else has noticed this, but in the last year I have suddenly become allergic to things I was never allergic to before. Or perhaps I always was with no symptoms but suddenly I have symptoms which involve swelling of the eyelids and red patches on my face, caused by cherries, or a rice I bought in marks and spenders. Never had allergies like this before and these two arose in the last two years. Also every time I take a shower I have a temporary red rash on my legs afterwards, doesn't matter what shower gel I use, its like I have an allergy to hot water.
8) And finally, has anyone else suddenly developed psoriasis, I developed it just 6 months ago, couldnt link it to anything but now I am writing all this down it comes to mind maybe its the Singulair two.

I cannot believe 10 minutes ago I just told my fiance I can take this tablet forever, its completely natural.

I have been on Topamax for a little over a year. I've had most of the side effects; tingling, numbness in the fingers, dry mouth, forgetfulness, and weight loss - love the weight loss. All the side effects have sort of slowed down as I've been on the medication longer. The weight loss has slowed and I've even began to get my appetite back- I'm afraid I'm going to start gaining weight now! I've lost about 40 pounds and I needed to lose it, so that was wonderful. I've had a very hard time losing weight all my life so this was wonderful.

I was addicted to Coca Cola and this med also helped me kick that habit because I lost my taste for the carbonation.

Does anyone know if the weight loss usually evens out after about a year or a year and a half? I need to lose about 30 more pounds and was hoping that I would continue losing weight!

Anyway, I was on the Topamax for headaches and it has completely helped that! It has truly been a God-send for me. Other than monthly hormone headaches, I don't get migraines hardly at all!

I am wondering about having my doc up my dosage for the weight loss aspect????

I have taken this drug, Lisinopril, for only 3 days straight. On the third day, I began to have sweats and became very weak and exhausted. I felt as if I had a heavy weight upon my chest that prevented me from getting the oxygen, I felt I needed, but couldn't get through normal breath. I became faint and my vision was slightly blurred. I also felt my feet as being quite cold during the night, although, my partner said, that my body temperature felt normal. I'm not taking this medication as of today. I feel normal this morning, and want to continue to do so. I have previously been able to bring down my High Blood pressure by drinking fresh juices, doing a detox diet with the eating of fresh fruit and veggies, doing warm infrared saunas for a few days to bring my high blood pressure down naturally. Taking this medication was an experiment, and I will take the safer, more natural way to control my high blood pressure.

Through relentless pursuits in trying to stop my hairloss, tiredness, inability to lose weight and increase metabolism, my doctor agreed to allow me for 6 months to take a natural T3 supplement from a local apothecary. I FELT GREAT. The hair loss and tiredness stopped. However my body temperature still was low. 6 months later I agreed to a blood test and the "numbers" revealed I was out balance. Mr Dr. would not OK another Rx for the T3 supplement. Now that a few months have passed, again the hair loss and tiredness is returning. I am going to transfer to a Dr. who supports the T3 supplement. Did you know that there is no T3 in synthroid. However Armour has both T3 and T4.
There is a syndrome called Wilson's Temperature Syndrome. Search it out. A small group of endocrinologists are treating the body temperature (symptoms) rather than the numbers.

Took Avelox - one dose - two years ago for a chest infection. Within two hours, experienced acute weakness, dizziness and bizarre (and frightening) sensations of falling/collapsing/sinking. Changes of vision and loss of acuity of hearing followed. In the ensuing days, severe neck pain, inability to regulate body temperature (feeling constantly cold), involuntary muscle movement, acute diarrhoea, confusion, low blood pressure, low oxygen levels in the blood, crushing chest pain, slow heart rate required hospitalisation. In retrospect, I would have to say that those first few weeks were terrifying not just for me but for my husband and small children. It took several months for these symptoms to resolve completely. The peculiar sensations in the neck persist intermittently. In my opinion and experience, Avelox is a dangerous drug, which should be withdrawn from use immediately. Notably in this episode, the specialist/consultant who prescribed the drug refused to accept that Avelox caused any of these problems. The GP was far more aware of this drug's potential to do damage. I would strongly advise that anyone visiting this site never, EVER, give fluoroquinolones to anyone in their family. Wishing good health to all who have been damaged by this drug. MM
