I had been on Aciphex for about 4 years because Nexium, Prilosec, and all the other meds did not help my heartburn. I started having problems wtth my bowels, I thought I had IBS but with the diarrhea effects. It was so bad some days that I could not drive to work. I would have strong urges to go to the bathroom which literally gave me less than a minute to find a toilet. I never thought it would be the Aciphex. I recently switched to Zegerid and have not experienced quite the problems I had in the past. Last night I took my 1 remaining Aciphex and this morning the problems returned. I am sure now that the Aciphex has something to do with it. I am wondering if there is any long term damage/effects from it.

I took my 2nd Avelox pill at 10am this morning, by lunch time I felt very jittery and anxious, and had isolated tingling in my left hand and foot. Tonight I had severe abdominal pain and then the subsequent emptying of the bowels (ok, that's gross!). I am a healthy 39-year old woman who has never had any side effects from medication. This was prescribed for a sinus infection. Thank you all for your posts about your experience with this horrible stuff. I feel better knowing that I'm not going crazy. Unfortunately, because this is a once-a-day pill, this stuff is still in my system. For those of you who are posting on this site saying you've had no side effects and this medicine worked great, you probably work for Bayer in their PR department....if not and you really did not have any side effects, this site is for those of us who HAVE had side effects.

Was in the hospital receiving IV and inhaled steroids for breathing problems. Sent home with 10mg prednisone twice a day. It was even worse. ---puffy face, no sleep, and extreme weakness in my thighs--hard to even walk up stairs. Had a CAT scan of my lungs and my dr. was alarmed---said for a 112 pound woman,my stomach was the size of an obese person! now I'm going to have a stomach emptying test to see if that or the steroids is the problem.

My mother just died from all of the secondary effects of prednisone. She was diagnosed with glaucoma 4 years ago but no one ever did a sed rate blood test to find out that she had giant cell arthritis. So once they found out, they treated her aggressively with 60 mg of prednisone. She swelled up immediately and had terrible pain in her legs. Then she became diabetic with big sugar swings that couldn't be controlled. Then s he got thrush in her mouth and couldn't eat or drink. Then she became dehydrated. For pain they gave her constipating pain meds and this caused a bowel impaction. She had tremors and then she had mental confusion. Then her skin started splitting everywhere but wouldn't heal. Then she started losing fluids from her skin. Then her bowels got impacted again. Then her colon ruptured and she got sepsis. Her sugar levels went haywire. Her heart wouldn't slow down, her skin tore up worse, she lost more fluids. And finally she got pneumonia and fever. She died in my hands after so much s suffering - it was just ungodly.

I hope she's ok now and happy and having no pain and is in God's loving arms.

I will never forgive this doctor.

Please be careful with this drug. It is so incredibly dangerous.

I wish I would have researched this med before I took it. I took it in March 2007. I was in the hospital for pneumonia. The doctor sent me home with a prescription to finish out. I want to tell you that I started to bleed from my stool. I bleed so much that I had to wear pads. On the last day of the Levaquin (I thought I had to take it all), I was crawling to the restroom and bleeding from my stool. I would have to lay on the floor to get the strength to set on the pot. My husband was in Iraq, and I didn't have anybody to help me. I warn anybody not to take this medication. My bowels have never been the same. But the doctors have checked me and can't find anything wrong.

I started with Lisinopril and had severe isolated visceral angioedema. Thought I was going to die. The attacks felt worse than childbirth. Urine flow would totally stop and bladder would cramp. Bowels would not function. Over a 10 on the pain scale. Went off Lisinopril and 3 days later Dr. wanted me to start Benicar. Within 5 days I was in emergency room with visceral angioedema even worse than the Lisinopril. I have had CT scan, ultrasound, numerous blood and urine tests, PAP, colonoscopy and everything is negative. It has taken a full week for all symptoms to stop. I finally feel normal again after 2 months. I cannot take this family of drugs. And Dr.'s need to be more informed about this serious side effect. My Dr. never considered it could be the Lisinopril or the Benicar since I didn't exhibit any facial edema. More information about this rare, but serious side effect needs to be published.

I've been thinking that stress was causing all these symptoms but now I'm thinking differently. I only took Lactase Enzyme because I thought herbal was better. After taking it for a week I found I could eat a variety of foods I wasn't able to eat prior.
One morning I awoke and was bleeding profusely from the bowels. The bleeding went on for four days then stopped. The doctor booked with with a specialist who said it would be two months before he could see me so I figured I'd cure myself or bleed to death.
I started drinking cabbage juice and am taking 3 acidophiles daily.and that stopped the bleeding completely. Last night I had a craving for ice cream which turned out to be a bad mistake. The pain was excruciating although I don't vomit and didn't get diarrhea. It looks like the side effects of this super duper lactose cure is permanent because I haven't taken the enzyme for a month now.

Awful bowel spasms while in public, felt like I'd lose control of my bowels. Also, am over 50 yrs old, and am getting cystic acne on chin again, and zits all over my face.
Also, Wellbutrin is making me very short tempered.
Not worth the horrible side effects.

I was on Aciphex for 10 days (Samples only) i developed bowel problems but the Dr thought it was side effects fo antibiotics. Was off the med for 1 week and everything went back to normal. I am currently back on this for severe acid problems (Barretts) and the symptoms of yellow mucus and loos bowels are back. Headache, cramps. etc. After reading some of the comments i am not sure that this is right for me either. Only thing is that i am afraid to take any of the medicines and with out it this could become cancer. Any suggestions?

I was given these meds for my back, i had fell and really messed up my bck. I haven't sleep in 9days more that 1hr maybe 2 at a time, short of breath, weak, have a hard time relaxing, not to mention how tired i feel, my last pill will be Saturday, i was told i just couldn't go off of them so i have been faithful. but my hormones have became very upset, i hadn't had any hormone problem for around 1yr now sweats are so bad can't stand them. then chills. only good thing my Physical T person said they have helped me bunch and my back, neck are not hurting. But i really think you should be close to death before they even think about giving you this drug. Kidney, bowels are all messed up, and i'm just so weak i can't hardly make it to work each day. when all this is over i'm going on vacation. hope by 25th Feb i'll be feeling more like my old self, that would be 5days off of the pills.

I WAS DIAGNOSED WITH ENDO ABOUT 10 YEARS AGO WHEN I WAS 21 YEARS OLD. I WAS TOLD I WOULD HAVE TO HAVE A TOTAL HYSTERECTOMY BY THE TIME I WAS 25. I LIVED OUT OF STATE AND DID NOT LIKE THE DOCTOR I WAS SEEING SO I JUST DISMISSED IT. YEARS LATER AFTER MOVING BACK HOME AND GETTING MARRIED TO A WONDERFUL MAN WHO DOES NOT HAVE CHILDREN ( I HAVE TWO) I WENT TO MY OLD DOCTOR THAT I WAS REALLY COMFORTABLE WITH. TOLD HIM ALL OF MY SYMPTOMS AND ABOUT MY PAINFUL PERIODS AND HOW ME AND MY HUSBAND HADN'T GOTTEN PREGNANT AFTER FOUR YEARS OF TRYING. HE SCHEDULED ME FOR A LAPROSCOPY TO LOOK AROUND AND SEE WHAT WAS GOING ON. HE IS ALSO A FERTILITY SPECIALIST SO I KNEW HE WOULD TRY TO DO WHATEVER POSSIBLE FOR US TO HAVE A CHILD. I HAD A CHOCOLATE CYST ON MY RIGHT OVARY, ENDO, AND THE ENDO HAD FUSED MY BOWELS TO THE LEFT SIDE OF MY ABDOMEN. I HAD ALWAYS HAD PROBLEMS WITH CONSTIPATION BUT I JUST THOUGHT I WAS LIKE ALOT OF OTHER WOMEN. HE TOOK CARE OF ALL OF THAT AND WHEN I WOKE UP HE TOLD ME HE WOULD LIKE FOR ME TO GO ON LUPRON ONCE A MONTH FOR THREE MONTHS. THIS WAS ON SEPT. 11TH. I HAD READ ALL THE BLOGS BEFORE HAND ABOUT LUPRON AND I WAS VERY SKEPTICAL AND JUST PLAIN SCARED ABOUT TAKING IT. MY DOC TOLD ME IT WOULD HELP W/ THE PAIN AND AFTER TAKING IT FOR THREE MONTHS IT WOULD HELP US GET PREGNANT. I TOOK MY FIRST INJECTION BEFORE I LEFT THE HOSPITAL THAT DAY. THE FIRST COUPLE OF WEEKS I REALLY COULDN'T TELL ANY SIDE EFFECTS EXCEPT FOR HOT FLASHES. THEN THE HEADACHES STARTED. I HAD ALWAYS GOTTEN MIGRAINES, BUT THESE ARE 100 TIMES WORSE. I COMPLETED MY THREE MONTH CYCLE OF TAKING LUPRON ON NOV 6TH. I HAVE TURNED INTO A MOODY, CRANKY, ANGRY PERSON. IT IS UNCONTROLLABLE. AFTER MY LAST SHOT BEGAN TO WEAR OFF I GOT A HEADACHE SO BAD MY HUSBAND HAD TO PICK ME UP FROM WORK AND TAKE ME TO THE E.R. THEY TOLD ME IT WAS HORMONAL AND THAT I WOULD JUST HAVE TO DEAL W/ IT. THEY GAVE ME A SHOT AND SOME SAMPLES OF BUTALBITAL. THE SHOT DIDN'T DO ANYTHING AND THE BUTALBITAL ONLY MADE ME SLEEPY. I HAD THIS HEADACHE FOR OVER A WEEK. THEN IT JUST WENT AWAY. WHEN I HAD MY LAST SHOT MY DOC TOLD ME I WOULD HAVE A PERIOD WITHIN 6 TO 8 WEEKS AND WHEN I OVULATE AFTER THAT I SHOULD GET PREGNANT. IT TOOK ME OVER TEN WEEKS TO START. I FINALLY STARTED MY PERIOD A COUPLE OF DAYS AGO. I FEEL AS IF I HAVE ALREADY HAD A CHILD WITH ALL THE BLEEDING AND THE PAIN. IT IS UNBEARABLE. I FEEL SO SORRY FOR EVERYONE AROUND ME BECAUSE I DON'T EVEN KNOW THAT I AM BEING HORRIBLE. THROUGH THE LUPRON I HAVE GAINED 20 POUNDS, HAVE HAD SEVERE HEADACHES, HAVE BECOME VERY FORGETFUL, VERY VERY MOODY, AND JUST FEEL LIKE A TOTAL DEFERENT PERSON AND NOT IN A GOOD WAY. I WILL NEVER TAKE LUPRON AGAIN!! NEVER. IF ME AND MY HUSBAND DO NOT GET PREGNANT AFTER THIS I WILL JUST HAVE THE HYSTERECTOMY AND BE DONE WITH IT. I AM HOPING I BECOME LESS MOODY SINCE NOW MY BODY IS STARTING TO GO BACK TO NORMAL. OR AT LEAST I HOPE IT IS. HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO GET PREGNANT WHEN I AM SO MOODY THAT NO ONE CAN STAND TO BE AROUND ME? PLUS I NEVER WANT TO HAVE SEX. DOES ANYONE KNOW EXACTLY HOW LONG IT TAKES LUPRON TO TOTALLY GET OUT OF YOUR SYSTEM?

I am 34 years old. I am a pharmacy tech. I have asthma and allergies. I have taken singulair pretty much every day since it came out on the market. I've had asthma since i was about 10 years old. I took theophylline as a kid. Steriods on and off especially during times when my allergies are bad. I still use Advair during the fall and spring. Every drug has a side effect. However breathing is pretty good damn thing. Do I have days when I feel low? Yeah. Do I sometimes have nightmares? Yup. Are "natural" products the answer. Not always. The fish oil that some of the posters are touting can also cause GI problems. Some of the natural products contain herbs and other plant derivatives that can be harmful for a child that suffers from allergies. Not proactively treating asthma can be deadly. Some of the parents are suggesting steriods as the answer - those can cause weight gain, growth suppression and can lead to a worsening of asthma.

Singulair has never made me feel like I've wanted to kill myself. I was more depressed and angry as kid when my asthma did not allow me to partipate in normal childhood things. I was sad and hated life when I couldn't keep up with friends at recces because I was having trouble breathing. You have to outweigh the costs with the benefits. I am more irritable when I have asthma flareup then I am on a normal day. For me, I choose to breathe. And singulair has been helping me for almost a decade.

I'm not saying the medication isn't causing these symptoms but maybe there is an underlying cause to your child's depression.

Any drug has a side effect. But without medical research and the medications that come with them - people would still be dying of simple diseases and we wouldn't have vaccinations. As a society, as a whole, we are a culture that looks to someone else to fix things and then blames the people who try to fix it. We need to stop being the "hot McDonald's coffee'" society.

I have been on Yaz for three months, first two were okay, not I totally feel prego, morning sickness, sore breasts, moodiness, weight gain, odd bowels. I tried to talk to my OB Tuesday and she got a page in the middle of my appt. Babies don't wait. She said to keep taking it she'd see me in month. AHHHH I can't do this, I totally broke down to my hubby last night and he said to stop it now. I have two beautiful girls, am 26, and am crazy!
Yaz has made me feel like my gestational diabetes is back, my head hurts often, I am cramping, lower back pain, irritably, want to sleep all the time, am short tempered with my kids....this is nuts!!!! Trying to get ahold of my doctor again, might just go back to my childhood family doctor. Good luck, I was on depo before my second child and had a horrible reaction to it too, even miscarried after I had been off of it for a year and still hadn't had a period. Birthcontrol stinks, I feel like I am poisoning my body, and why, so I don't have another baby. So I am experiancing, nausea, headache, stomach cramps, depression, crazy feelings, irritability, fatigue, sore breasts, decreased sex drive, morning sickness.
Good luck with your decisions.

I get some stomach cramping from the Z-Pak, but the most disturbing side effect would be the chest pain. I have swollen glands right now and I had vertigo and the doctor told me it was probably a bacterial infection because the gland under my chin is the one that is swollen. Every time I take this medication the side effects are different. I also had the agitation the last time I took Z-Pak. Sometimes I have had the lose bowels, especially after taking the two pills together the first day. Well, I guess it is better than having an infection so I will continue to take it. There are other medications that are worse for me. At least I am not getting a rash and I cannot take penicillin.

I am so glad I came across this site. I had the Mirena put in last December two months after having my baby girl. For the first few months no big deal. But lately, irrational mood swings, cramps when i'm not on my period, fatigue, back pain, my legs ache, I stopped running because my knees have begun to hurt and I attributed it to running but now i'm not so sure. Now my arms are aching too, especially when I try to fall asleep it seems they fall asleep before I do. Shoulders hurt, my bowels are weird. Pretty much you name it I've got it. and i'm normally pretty laid back and not a "drama queen" I am making an appointment tomorrow to get this dang thing out.

I was only on 25 mg of Topamax for two months and had to stop due to the terrible side effects of mouth numbness, taste aversion and severe dry mouth. Unfortunately, the side effects have gotten worse and persisted now for six months after going off this medication. My personal thoughts: Topamax is the worst drug on the market, has negatively impacted my life, and my neurologist could care less. These symptoms are with me 24/7 and only mildly helped by expensive mouthwash and lozenges specially formulated for dry mouth. Actually, eating certain foods makes these symptoms worse and I am afraid this is permanent, but can find no scientifically plausible evidence to explain such lingering effects. If anybody else has experienced such long-term symptoms after going off this medication, please share.

I, too, am awaiting my Doctor's return call. I got the Mirena in January for a number of reproductive problems that caused severe pain right before and during my cycle. The IUD was inserted to reduce or eliminate my monthly therefore eliminating the pain. The first month was a little rough. Months 2-7, I was plagued with odd pains, but I did not attribute them to the device. For the last month, I have been in so much pain I went to see my Primary Physician to rule out any other causes. All is clear! The only thing to which I can attribute my symptoms is this device. I have never had acne, and now I wake with a new pimple everyday! I am taking Percocet for the stabbing pain in my uterus, and the pain caused when I try to move my bowels! My entire body aches, particularly my thighs. I just want this thing removed! I can't say for certain that it is the cause of all my problems, but after reading this website, I believe I am on the right track! I am willing to take my chances without it!

i was prescribed cipro on may 9th, 2008. It is now September 27th 2008. i have not had a really good day between these dates. have been hospitalized. lost lots of body fluids. pain, weakness, depression, emotional problems,no appetite, no energy, agitated constantly, lost 15 lbs.,so far. have seen specialists because i have diminished eye sight and hearing loss. no patience with family. i haven't moved my bowels on my own since first dose. have to take laxatives every week to empty my bowels. i live with full body pain and stiffness every single day, all day. lost interest in my life. i am forgetting the happy, active strong, energetic positive 48 yr old woman I used to be. i know it's the cipro that's killing me. i think my dr. believes me. the other dr.s think i should either that's where I discovered what was hurting me so badly]. I looked up cipro on the computer after i saw a warning about taking cipro and found the truth of why i was so sick. accidentally found out. no symptoms, no pain. Most doctors don't want to believe me. I've told several drs., nurses, and anybody who would listen. I'd tell you more but I can't remember right now. cipro stole my memory too. May God be with us. I am 24 with 2 children and had mirena inserted in February after going crazy with implanon. I have never really tolerated the pill either and this was the last option. 2 weeks later I was in excruciating pain in my stomach that i could barely look after my kids. My stomach was so distended i looked about 8 months pregnant. After tolerating the pain for a few days i went to my doctor and she sent me for a pelvic ultrasound. they found cysts on each ovary. 1 measured 3 inches in diameter and the other 1 was slightly smaller. Even after they dissolved i was in pain for at least a month afterwards due to my bowels and bladder being pushed around. Since then I have had no problems (touch wood) I have had minor cysts in the past but not to this extent and after doing some research found that mirena caused it. I have opted to leave it in for the time being as i am not having any other side effects that i know of from it. But if I end up getting cysts again I will definitely be getting it taken out.

After my vasectomy I developed a horrible infection called epididymo-orchitis which is extremely painful accompanied by horrible swelling of the testicles. The ER Dr. put me on 500mg of levaquin once a day for 14 days. I am on day 6 of the antibiotic and for 2 days now I am experiencing extreme abdominal pain to the point of crying and collapsing, sever diarrhea but feels like I can't empty my bowels which makes the abdominal pain worse. Until I read some of these other stories I didn't realize that my knees and hands ache like I have horrible arthritis may be due to this med. I would much rather deal with the pain and swelling of my testicles than the side effects of this drug.

Took Lisinopril for one week, this was the only medication I was on at the time. I experienced light headiness, dizziness, motion sickness, rapid heart beat, chest pain, shortness of breath, numbness in my hands and arms. I suffer from some sort of bowel disorder, I have anywhere from 6 to 12 bowel movements a day normally, Lisinopril disrupted my bowels - they became totally unpredictable - make for the worse week of my life. My mother died the month before and I was already depressed, under enormous stress and most likely suffering from some sort of trauma disorder (PTSD) from watching my mother die in ICU screaming for 42 day. I became suicidal, to the point of sticking the gun in my mouth and cocking it. Guess I just don't have the guts to pull the trigger. I can sincerely say Lisinopril has changed me and it ain't for the better.

Hello all! My 9 year old son has been taking Advair inhaler for about 1 1/2 years with 2 puffs a day. One at night and one in the morning. He is too young for him to notice any symptoms and for him to explain them to us and we didn't know about any side effects until reading this forum. He has the sniffles all the time which sound kind of stuffy too and some blotched skin on his forehead. He also might have another symptom regarding his bowels, not being able to control them is what I'm getting at and everyday has accidents. I don't know if that's because of Advair or laziness. I would make an intelligent guess and relate it to the Advair under muscle spasms? Does anyone have this symptom and are just too embarrassed to tell your doc? I am at my wits end with this "symptom". Also I heard very strong reports that cow milk is responsible for asthma. Humans were not designed to drink animal milk at all. The Molecules are way too large for us to digest. Almond milk is best and better for you. Now think about it, we are the only species that drink milk after we are nursed from out mothers. The animals do not go back to drinking after they are weened. I've also heard a study that after grown cows drink cow milk they got very sick or died. Anyone else heard that?

My pharmacist also switched to Aviane and told me that is was the same thing. I think that it has affected my bowels as now I have cramps there too. I feel crappy all the time. I also suffer from nausea in the morning and have thought that I was pregnant. I was on Alesse before that with no problems. I stopped taking the Aviane and asked specifically for the Alesse. Now my body is in some kind of limbo and I feel really low. I thought it was just me but I am "happy" to hear that it is not in my head. I think I will come off all BC for a month or two and try again,

People we need to do something: SOMEHOW
I m adding to my first post. Have not taken the 750 mg since Friday 2nd. Now my right knee is swollen, numbness in elbow joints, and light headed of mornings. I called doctor about all of these symptoms, and he put in on my chart as a ALLERGIC REACTION, I told him this is not a reaction it is a severe side effect. We discussed what I had located on comments on med and he said that millions have taken it just finel. Also there has been some reports that it did rupture tendons, but out of millions.
I told him this is bad stuff and I wanted it documented, (never happened).
My symptoms change. I wish could get this out of my system. If any ideas, please reply. My knee is almost unbearable, I put it up of a night and try to be easy of a day. I still have trouble eating and now my bowels are quite right after my stomach episode with the levaquin.

I am 34 and started taking loestrin 24 at the advice of my doctor cause I have really heavy periods and a lot of breakthrough bleeding mostly due to fibroids which has made me quite anemic. I was hoping this would help. I started Loestrin 24 about 16 days ago. On the ninth day I started breakthrough bleeding and it hasn't stopped! I feel like it's become a full fledged period! I just hope the bleeding stops soon. I have pretty bad cramps and backaches. I've been popping many advil. Also, my breasts are tender and they're definitely bigger (I liked my boobs the way they were!). As far as mood, the first week was fine, but I was pretty lethargic and depressed the second week. Starting the third week yesterday, my mood has been much better. It sounds like people have had success after the 3 month waiting. Me, I'm willing to duke it out for another month for the almost-nothing periods. But 2 more months of this I don't think I can handle. I'll let you know what happens
