I was put on Advair 100/50 about 5 years ago and took it faithfully twice a day. I started having hoarseness and several times felt like I was having a heart attack.
I also noticed a trembling in my right hand which I did not know what to attribute it to. I could not hold anything in my hand before gradually dropping it.
I also started having leg pain which would grow worse at night and I couldn't sleep through the night. I had to get up a nd take some ibuprofen to get some sleep. I blamed it on my spinal stenosis.
For the past two years I have had an eye problem. I am losing sight in my left eye. The doctor sent me to a retinal doctor last year and I went thru all kinds of tests. He thought it was a wrinkle in my retina. I was examined again this year and it is the same.
This year my doctor couldn't figure out what was causing this and had a brain MRI done. This showed nothing.
I have slowly stopped taking the Advair and my leg pain has gone away and I am getting some well needed rest at night. As to my eye problem, there still is a Question. I will not go back on Advair again.

I began taking Advair 250/50 in Nov. '06, approximately 1 month later started having pretty severe spinning & dizziness. Initially I was diagnosed with mild asthma and Ive always had allergies. The Advair cleared up the wheezing almost immediately and it never occurred to me that maybe the Advair was causing my dizziness. However after using in on and off for the last year and a half, I have experienced anxiety, a few panic attacks (for the 1st time in my 42 years), and this overall feeling of cloudiness. I recently started the Advair again and almost immediately I am now feeling very dizzy again, headaches with this stabbing pain behind my right eye, an overall feeling of instability. To add: last year when this all started I saw a neurologist, and a whole series of tests to check the cause of the dizziness Including a brain MRI, eeg and bear tests, these all came back normal. I am truly beginning to believe that the Advair may be the cause of all of this. Just a note, I also have felt the pain in my arm and neck. Has anyone else experienced these feelings in your head? I have stopped the Advair, to see the difference. I'll stick with Albuterol for now. I am a stay a home mom who has always been really healthy, eats right and exercises regularly. Any feedback would help!

I was put on Levaquin for 21 days to treat chronic sinusitis and I am only 17 years old. After about the 3rd day I was having great pain in my hips and knees and we called the doctors office to say we were having some of the side effects you're supposed to notify your doctor for, and they told me to keep taking it because all medicines have side effects and not to freak out. By the fifth day I had to be rushed to the ER because of serum sickness and i finally stopped it. Now, 2 and half months later, I still walk like a 95 year old and have to use a wheelchair to get around. I've also developed hypersensitivity to cold and touch and my limbs go numb randomly.

I was prescribed Ativan 0.5 mg. x2 in order to relax me before a brain MRI. I never do meds, but I did find that I am slightly claustrophobic and that was the only way I was going to be able to have the procedure done. Ativan did the trick, although I did take 3 pills in the span of a couple of hours. It didn't take effect immediately, but once it did I had no nervous edge for a couple of days! But, my husband threw away the rest of the bottle (10 total), so perhaps it affected me more than I realize!

I am an active 63 year old male. I have been on 10mg lipitor for 5 years and have experienced a very gradual muscle degeneration in my legs, feet numbness & tingling and hair loss from my ankles up. I have been to a neurologist, two Chiropactors, and Physical therapy and got some relief, but these symptoms never really disappeared. Recently, my bad cholestrol level increased and my doctor doubled my level to 20mg. After a month, my symptons are now worse and I can hardly get out of bed in the morning with sore muscles in my legs. I have had full skeleton x-rays and MRI's and Bone Bi-op. and have been cleared from other problems such as cancer. I have a strong feeling that my problems are from Lipitor. My doctor is in love with the drug. I am going to stop the Lipitor for a month regardless and see what happens. Joe

I cannot believe I am reading all of this. Almost every sympton I have had. I am only 50 (Ha!) but had a heart-by-pass 5 years ago. I was put on 20 mg of Zocor since. In the last year I have had dizziness, memory loss and of course the muscle aches I have had since taking the Zocor five years ago. I could put up with the muscle aches as I thought "well the Zocor is saving me in other areas". Not anymmore- I can't take the dizzines, lapse of memory and fatigue all day long- I have been to several Neurologists, Blood Samples, Brain MRI's etc-etc- all with the same results- "there is nothing wrong with you"! Well there is- and I believe it is the Zocor- no, I'm convinced. This is my first day off the Zocor- I'm staying off it- hope I get better.

See my earlier post 26651. Male, age 61. Lipitor for 6 months with some side effects but Dr. did not associate them with Lipitor -- said I had an inner ear virus. Another month past and now more side effects. Blood test showed the drug really worked and cholesterol dropped over 100 points. Dr. said he wanted to keep me on it even though levels were now excellent. My symptoms were many, including the following: dizziness; head pain especially around sinus area; ringing in ears; difficulty speaking; memory loss; leg cramps; extreme nausea; eyes sensitive to light; extreme neck pain; grinding sound in neck; heavy headedness, etc. etc.
Went back to Dr. 3 weeks ago when he re-prescribed more Lipitor even though levels "were excellent". Told him about my problems and fact I felt I was being poisoned by Lipitor. He thought some of my problems could be from the drug and immediately took me off of it but also want me to have a brain MRI as precaution. MRI was normal -- been off the drug for nearly 3 weeks now and other that some neck pain, I am feeling nearly 100%. Will never take Lipitor or any other drug in it's class.

I was on another BC pill and was fine. I decided that Yasmin might be a good switch since it touts water/weight loss. I only took ONE PILL and that night I felt like my heart was pumping out of my chest. For the next two weeks, I had signs of angina--chest tightness, left arm pain, left neck pain, and numbness and tingling in my arms and legs. My OB-GYN doctor dismissed my symptoms and told me to see my family dr. My family dr. did have tests done and my brain MRI came up with possible signs of MS! I had to wait 2 months to see a specialist who read the x-rays and found them negative--what a relief. I also told him of Yasmin and he dismissed this possibility. I immediately went off of Yasmin and finally am feeling better after 2 months of taking one pill. I urge everyone to hold their ground and take care of your body and don't let anyone "dismiss" your symptoms. Thanks to everyone for posting your reactions--it certainly validates what I went through.

I am 53 (female) and have been taking Lipitor for about 5 months. I haven't read the whole list below, but is anyone having problems with mental clarity and thinking that it might be related to the Lipitor.? I am experienceing short term memory loss and mental confusion. My M.D. is sending me for a brain MRI this week. While I don't fear this is early dementia, I am beginning to think it might be a side effect of the Lipitor. I stopped taking the Lipitor 7 days ago and it seems I am more clear minded.
I have felt a general overall "puffiness" since starting the Lipitor. This combined with the mental clairty issues are making be suspect of the Lipitor.
I also am experience an overwhelming fatigue. This too seems to have lessened since stopping the Lipitor.
My M.D. just stares at my blankly! I am starting to think I am really loosing it. Anybody having similar reactions?
Thanks for any responses!

I am a 62 year old healthy male. About two months ago I was prescribed 500 mg. Levaquin by my urologist for a suspected prostate infection. Within the first 24 hours I experienced strange visual effects and extreme fatigue. By the third day on the medication I began to notice motor coordination problems. On the fourth day I awoke with chills, major hand tremors, and extreme motor coordination difficulties in my hands (I was unable to pick up a coffee cup with only one hand). I stopped taking it at this point, of course, and the symptoms gradually declined. It was a terrifying experience.
About one month later I had a relapse of the original symptoms and immediately arranged an appointment with my regular physician, who ordered a brain MRI and a prescription for a beta blocker to relieve the tremors. The MRI was negative. My symptoms improved markedly, almost immediately, and have not returned, even though I am no longer taking the beta blocker (after one month of regular dosage). I have my fingers crossed for the future.
I learned that my sister had similar reactions to Levaqui, suggesting that there might be a genetic predisposition to such an extreme reaction. From now on I will indicate to medical personnel that I cannot tolerate any member of the fluoroquinalone family of antibiotics.
As a side note, it turned out that I did not have a prostate infection after all but rather that a sudden upward jump in a PSA reading led the urologist to suspect the infection. A retest showed that the reading was anomalous, completely out of line with my history of lab tests for PSA. The worrisome part of this experience is the physician's willingness to prescribe such a powerful drug without clear indication of an infection.

I'm really glad I found this board. It reassures me I'm not nuts. I'm a 53 yr old woman. I'm overweight and underactive. I'm on 10 mg Lipitor and just started 2 days ago. I also take Toprol to reduce my blood pressure which is now at 120/80. I started the Toprol last week. The Toprol puts me in a daze during the day. I take the Lipitor at night. This morning I woke up groggy. I felt light-headed and spacey. Funny taste in mouth. Tongue kind of burns. Some pressure in ears. My feet were freezing and the left foot tingly. It took hours for my feet to warm up and feel normal. Sometimes my scalp feels tingly too. I went to my doctor because I was feeling light-headed and had other symptoms. So I'm going through a series of tests: stress test, brain MRI etc. Most of my labs came back great. Here's my plan: if there are no other problems with my heart or brain I plan to move my diet toward vegetarianism. I've already started doing that. I also found a gym that I hope to join. After 6 months of a good diet and exercise I'll ask my Dr. if I can come off the Lipitor for a certain number of months. We can do a cholesterol test and see where I'm at. Staying on any statin long term doesn't sound safe at all. Thanks!

I have been taking lisinopril for about 2 1/2 years now. About 4 weeks ago I was having trouble sleeping, my legs hurt real bad and when I would wake up I would have a numbing tingling sensation in my legs and feet. Went to the doctor asked her if it could be the meds and she said she didn't think so and to continue to take it. I still continue to have problems, tired, weak muscles, hurt and a raw lump in the throat feeling. She sent me for a brain mri that showed white lesions on the brain. She said it could be from high blood pressure but said my has never really been that high or it could be MS. I am right now waiting to see a neuro dr to see if I have ms but after reading all these post I am wondering if it is the lisinopril. Has any one else had these types of symptoms?
