If you experience migraines, and you are like me and never had a headache your entire life. My advice is to call your doctor and have a brain scan.

Hi everyone, I have been taking omeprazole for eight years. The past year my amount was increast to 40mg from 20mg. My very first side effect was itching all over but most of all around the rectum. i have had pains in my chest.Had camera put down behind my heart had all clear. I have high pulse rate been admitted to hospital when it reached 150 a min.Still suffer from this. Tinging in hands, whole left leg tingles when I touch my leg to moisturize it has a pins and needle effect. Had brain scan for blurred vision. Have diarrhea most days.Get dehydrated because of this I am for ever drinking. My muscle cramps are so bad I cannot do baking any more. Cramps in my legs and feet.I have bad fatigue.I am not interested in sex.My whole life has changed completely over a gradule process. I thought it was down to my age 61.My e.s.r.blood rate is raised I have had every test available I have taken steroids to lower it.It worked at first but then graduly went back up even being on steroids made no difference.
I had no idea this was down to this drug.
From reading this site today I am going to cut down first to 20mg a day. Change my diet and drink plenty of water ,If this makes a different on my state of health I will be back to tell you

I have the same head and neck problems and I was thinking about a brain scan. I am switching to quinapril because my pharmacy doesn't carry metoprolol anymore. My head feels almost like it has a band around it and I am extremely tired all the time with nasal drainage and flu like pain in my muscles. I never had this when I was on Topril but I can't afford it. Thank you for relieving my anxiety.

Hello to all again. Wow that last post I have so much that is on there. I have had so many blood tests that come back normal, xrays and everything ekg, brain scan, abdominal scan. And, now I have started oo just feel like passing out all day everyday, I just had to go have a balance test done. At least they called back and I can get this out on the 4th of February. I just really hope that taking this mirena helps. I cannot believe the side effects everyone is having. Please pray for me as I will for you. I would hate for any of you to feel as absolutely shitty as I do and have for about the last 6 months. I have been scared like I am going to die, with all of the things happening and top it of with anxiety and throw a panic attack in, you have me. Please everyone keep writing, I read anxiously all day seeing what symptoms you all have too. These are mine in entirety
*Dizziness (constant)
*Anxiety
*Panic Attack
*Tingling in arms and legs, mostly left arm
*Eye Pain (spots and blurred vision)
*Abdominal Pain to left and right of belly button
*Constipation
*My throat hurts, not sore throat, the Adams apple
*Faintness all day long
*Weight Loss ( I know, different but I have lost like 15 lbs)
*Chest pain all day mostly in left breast
*Back pain
Seriously, I can barely function anymore. This SUCKS!!!

I've been on simvastatins for about 2 years after TIAs. I'm 56. I had two small Strokes about year ago despite being on simvastatins. Had brain scan which showed two small areas of scarring and carotid artery scan- arteries fine. Started experiencing dizziness last year and GP diagnosed vertigo and gave me seasickness pills which didn't do much good. Since then I've experienced headaches which last for weeks, increasing fatigue (now struggle to get out of bed in morning) muscle pain which is getting really bad and sore feet (?). Increasing memory loss, confusion, lack of concentration, eye problems (when I first wake in morning my vision is blurred for ab out 30 minutes or so. I've been worried i mmay be developing Alzheimers. I've also piled on weight and the texture of my hair has changed - it has become very soft and silky and become thinner - normally my hair is very thick. Also I've had two perms in last 6 months which won't hold curl - been having perms for years and never had this problem. I've had several blood tests including for under-active thyroid and they have all been clear. I've been really worried about all these problems and did some research and came up with this site. I am beginning to think my problems stemm from taking 40mg Simvastatins so am going to stop them and book appointment with GP. Any comments/advice would be appreciated.

My husband was prescribed 40mg of this drug 2 years back, for his high cholesterol reading. He is an ex-services and has always been extremely fit, he was tired for almost a year, then he began having headaches to the point he had a brain scan, because he thought he had a tumor. He also has had knee and neck joint problems and now the joints of his fingers are giving him pain He now wakes up each morning feels really ill and feels as though hes being strangled, the sensation lasts sometime for hours and he has to lie down. His doctor said it was blood pressure but he keeps a monitor and his pressure has been normal. His doctor said he should continue to take it, but when you read all the symptoms that people are getting while taking this drug it makes you realize they are all just guinea pigs for a large scale trial of the drug

Just started Welchol after trying Lipitor & others. Have now developed severe vertigo & my right upper arm is killing me. I can't drink ANY alcohol because it makes me violently ill, almost to the point of throwing up, My doc says this drug is non-systemic & says I should have a brain scan...I stopped taking it 3 days ago-arm pain is gone but not the vertigo yet...I'll have to weigh my options of going back on it again.
Has anyone else had dizziness & lightheadedness from this?

Hello: Posting about simvastatin. I have been off of the medication for about six weeks. Initially the symptoms led me to hop on an ambulance gurney and visit my local ER due to dizziness, lots of palpitations, and the feeling that I was going to drop on the sidewalk. I followed the ER with two days on the heart unit, and have pretty much have had just about every test but a brain scan (or at least it has seemed that way).

My symptoms progressed to intense burning in my torso, pronounced in the shoulder blade areas, upper chest, and into my forearms. A week after stopping the statin much of the intense burning was gone.

I still have pain and discomfort, but I have not been "white knuckling" to get through the nights like I had been, which is a relief. I read somewhere that someone described the muscle pain as feeling like he had been repeatedly punched with a bag of oranges. I can relate to that feeling, and recently I have felt the symptoms in my thighs as well.

Pain management takes up my days (although I have continued to work). I have begun massage therapy, and I am going to attempt acupuncture next week. I am trying to sort out what supplements may be the best and which ones won't interact with each other or other medications that I take. I am taking CoQ10, Omega 3 capsules, a multivitamin, and a B complex.

Anyone with similar symptoms or comments, please jump in. We are in similar boats, as they say. I have gotten the impression that some people out there (not on this site) don't see this as real. For those people, unless someone is bleeding profusely from an artery, they remain non-supportive or non-believers....

Anna here again.

I don't think the hormone imbalances caused my stroke. I think Yasmin did in the way that OCs have a risk of doing, by causing a clot to form. I suspect Yasmin carries a higher risk of blood clotting than other OCs but I can't prove that.

I had a ton of tests done at the ER. Lots of blood work. An ECG (which is the same thing as an EKG I think. Probably what they mean is they're going to put you on one for 24 hours using a Holter monitor? I had that.) A CT scan and later an MRI of my brain. A Chest radiograph. A Carotid Artery ultrasound. (I'm copying from my notes!)

After being released from hospital I had a Trans Esophagal Echo (which found the hole) and a 24 hour brain scan (which was yukky and found nothing.)

I can't remember when my OB-GYN switched me to Yasmin but it was still considered 'new' then. I know it was by Fall 2003 so I was on it for at least 3 years. I'm 38.

These are the things I suspect Yasmin caused when I was on it:

Depression
Insomnia
Hypothyroidism
Increased Heart Murmur
Stroke

And this is what I've been suffering in the way of withdrawal effects/ hormonal imbalance:

Anxiety
Shakiness/dizziness
Fluttery feeling in chest/arms/legs
More insomnia
Abdominal pain
Constipation

Oh what a joyous little pill it is...

Anna

I am a little anxious now. Last Febuary I was prescribed levaquin for a serious I thought cold, but it was a respitory infection. After taking it a couple of days I felt really strange. Dizzy, not able to walk very well and really out of it. After 5 days I was done with the levaquin. But still had some symptoms. I grabbed the fridge door got something out closed the door, but my hand would not let go. I was looking at my hand and telling it to let go, but nothing. I had to pull my left hand away with my right. I went to the doctor they did a brain scan. I had had a stroke. The doctor saw my scan before he saw me. He was shocked because I was walking on my own. The size of my stroke should have put me in a wheel chair. Has any one else ever had this type or similar symptoms from this medicine. Because they now have me on it again.

Here I sit broken hearted as my side effects begin. Today is day 5 on Lisinopril and have not been able to sleep at nigh due to dry cough which began the same day I started the med. I was taking Tiazac and my BP was a little high on the low number (90) so I was switched to this Lisinopril HCTZ 20/12.5 and immediately began to develop cough, light headedness, headaches, blurry vision etc.. The bad thing in all of this is that I'm a diabled Vet and the VA put me on this medication about 2 years ago and I began to develop sharp pains in my head in the exact same spot everytime - I went to another other DR and told them about the pain and she sent me for a brain scan and I also showed her the medication the VA had prescribed and she said STOP taking it. So now I find out that I'm taking it again and the sysmptoms are back -- I guess I could stop smoking, drinking beer, no more cofffee or pepsi and stop eating sodium etc. I probably wouldn't need any drugs????????
