I am 38 and I have been using the NuvaRing since 3/23/08. My GYN thought it would help regulate my hormones, as I was experiencing vaginal dryness and decreased libido. I have been on BCPs since I was 18, except for 2 pregnancies and breast feeding. I had no problems on BCPs, except the vaginal dryness and decreased libido (which have been coming on gradually). So far, I have breast enlargement and tenderness, emotional lability, and I have not slept well since it went in (waking up frequently and vivid dreams). I'm going to stick it out a little while, but WOW, I didn't sign up for this. If this form of BC has less hormones then why do I feel this way?

has anyone noticed excessive breast tenderness with the NuvaRing. my boobs have always been a little sore the week before my period, but now they start feeling sore, and even aching, up to two weeks before. it freaks me out monthly as breast tenderness is a sign of pregnancy.

Hello. I am 23 years old. On December 1st I suffered a miscarriage. After going through that horrible ordeal, my fiance and I decided to wait and not have kids yet. I had the Mirena inserted on January 10th. The pain was horrible, and the next few days I was really sore. I started my period on the 24th of this month, nothing special to note, except it is longer than I am use too. What I have noticed is a sharp pain in my left side. It will not go away. I have called the doctor and scheduled an ultrasound. Hoping that turns out fine. My side effects that I have noticed are breast enlargement, ( I went up two sizes), and anxiety. I was going to go to the doctor for that, but now am considering just having the iud removed. I just wander how many other people are going though the same thing.

I want to thank all of the women who posted on this website ..this is how we found out what was wrong with our daughter. She was on the NuvaRing for 4 years..she was extremely sick,...severe back pain, day and night sweats, memory fog, extreme irritability, hand tremors, hair loss, uncoordinated, weight gain, breast enlargement..the list goes on. She was so sick she couldn't stay awake..we had to move her back home. finally, one night we read what other women were saying, we called her up at midnight and said TAKE THAT THING OUT! She did and now 4 months later she is back to normal!!! She does have liver tumors that we are having checked out. My advise: GET OFF OF IT NOW LADIES!

I started Yasmin about 5 months ago and thought I had no side effects. Did not gain a single pound and didnt really think my mood changed. The only weird side effect i did have is gas and bloating. Now at first I didnt think it was due to Yasmin so I went through an array of tests for gastro-intestinal problems and finally made the connection because I took yasmin at night and only had those problems at night. Never ever during the day. Oh yeah and the migraines. I would get them for about 5 days straight. It was really annoying to have to deal with. Now I will definitely switch to Alesse although I am questioning that alternative as it may be just better for me to not be on any birth control. And I do want to say that not everyone will have these random side effects. A few of my friends are using Yasmin and are absolutely satisfied. (their side effects: no weight gain and breast enlargement...what more could you want!! :) )

I've been taking it for 10 days now, and I have the same side-effects like most of the women... Extreme fatigue, sleepy (yet waking up every few hours at night), difficulty breathing while running (I'm a runner 25 miles/wk), breast tenderness and breast enlargement, dry eyes, nausea, hungry all the time. Can anyone please tell me, that if I stop taking it today, when can I expect my period back? I'm getting married in 11 days and I really don't want my period on my wedding day or honeymoon. Any good advice from anyone?

I've been on Yasmin for nearly 5 months now and as of last month, all the major side effects started really kicking in: leg cramps, fatigue, moodiness, weight gain, irritability, depression, foggy thinking, breast enlargement, vaginal infections, etc. So my question is this: If a woman experiences side-effects with one pill, won't she experience them with any and all other pills? I would almost rather just go off of them altogether because I feel like even though the drugs vary from one to another, ultimately they have the same effect: to fill you with hormones to "trick" your body into thinking it's pregnant all the time (no ovulation) so that you won't get pregnant.
Any thoughts?

Well I have been on yasmin for 6 months. The first two weeks were hell. I had moderate cramping not anywhere close to my period and break through bleeding. I kept thinking it must be my body trying to get used to it.
Well forget it! I now have severe breast pain in my left side and asthma like symtoms. My breast size has gone from a small 34 C to a very full 34 D. My husband says my breast look great, like a got a breast enlargement, but I feel like I did when my breast were engorged after having my son. That only lasted one day, and this has been going on for weeks. Brestfeeding for 19 months is a breeze compared to this pain and discomfort.
I just got tested for asthma last week and its negative. The next step is a ct scan on my chest to see if my heart is the problem. This medicine sucks! I have been on the mini pill before and ortho tricyclen with never these types of problems.
My doctor says this is the best pill for me since it doesn't make you gain any weight. Well I think I gained 4 pounds of breast tissue.
Ok ...vented. If anyone else is having severe breast cramps/tenderness/growth; please let me know. I am going to stop taking these pills and find another solution to birthcontrol.
Thanks,
Amy H

Is male breast "enlargement" and tenderness a side effect of Lupron? Only the right breast has been affected. It has been about a year since the patient had taken Lupron in connection with radiation for prostate cancer.

I was on Alesse for years. I never remember any side effects in the beginning. But then I started having light , but continuous breakthrough bleeding. My nurse put me on Yasmine. At first I didn't realize I was haing side effects until they got worst: breast tenderness, weight gain, breast enlargement, extreme weakness, irritability, contact irritation. The side effects went away for the most part, but my boobs and hips are still much bigger. I am thinking about tryin Aleese again

I spoke of weakness and breast enlargement and tenderness. I also had terrible cramps, which I hadn't had in years. I also had a spike in libido around 3 months, the same time my breasts went from a C to a D and my hips grew. After 4 months, my side effects have lessened, but the hips and breast are still big with a small weight gain. The only reason I switched to this pill was because I was having constant breakthrough bleeding the Aleese. Otherwise I loved Alleese. I had absolutely no side effects that I can remember. If I have many more side effects from Yasmin, I may try Alleese again. PS. I take welbutrin IR already for depression, so I never noticed a change in my moods and anxiety. I also have been diagnosed with elevated Mercury, which causes me to be extremely tired. So I didn't attribute the extra fatigue and weakness that I had in the first weeks to Yasmin, but now after reading all the posts, I wonder.

I am glad you mentioned about the breast enlargement from this drug. I was on rispiradone and my right breast got huge i didnt notice, it was someone else that did. It wont go away, it has been over eight months now since i have been off of risperidone. they tried to put me on ziprasidone but found out it has the breast enlargement side effect also, so i am off of it to. is there a drug out there that doesn't cause this? thanks for you information..

Thank you all so much for this information. I really thought I was going crazy! Constant hot flashes, dark patches on my nose and upper lip, breast enlargement and the worst mood swings ever! I tried Yasmin because after two pregnancies I was having break through bleeding with my old pill and the Dr. wanted to try this. After 6 months I officially gave up today. I agree with the comment that this pill works as birth control by turning you into a raving lunatic no one would ever touch! Thanks again for the information.
