I have been on Zocor 40mg for many years and doing fine with it, until my doctor thought it was not working that well, hence, switched me to Lipitor 10mg. After a few months I developed severe chest pain along with neck pain. It felt like it might have been a heart attack, but it lasted more than 24 hours. I was admitted to ER for 1 night in the hospital and released the following day. They checked my heart and found it was fine. They ran my blood work, chest x-rays, cat scan and checked my lungs. All O.K.!!! The next morning they told me I had Slight Diabetes and an Under Active Thyroid and thought Esophagus Spasms were the cause of my pain. OH yeah, I also told them it hurt more with each breath of air I took in rather than out. It did not matter to them. They gave me Protonix 40mg because they thought it would reduce acid reflux to the esophagus, thus reducing my pain. Furthermore, they gave me Synthroid 25MCG for my Under Active Thyroid. After about 10 days of these medication plus LIPITOR, I had a recurrence of the same pain. I decided to research and came across this Website. I stopped the Lipitor and the next day my pain was subsiding. By this evening, my pain is almost completely gone. I am scheduled to have an Endoscopy in about a week from now and I am hesitant. Are the pharmaceuticals and physicians in cahoot with each other. I can't believe I was required to take all these tests and even more tests before the pain started (EKG, Heart Monitor, Nuclear Stress Test, Heart Scan and Angiography). Did I forget to mention I was diagnosed with High Blood Pressure and put on X-Forge a few months before all this started, but I was taken off it because of side effects (dizziness, lethargic, and so on). I did research on X-Forge and it said to NEVER use it as a first method of treatment for high blood pressure. I also was having pain under my right armpit. WHY DO WE HAVE TO SUFFER LIKE THIS BEFORE ACTION IS TAKEN TO PREVENT THIS FROM HAPPENING TO SOMEONE ELSE. Well, I guess it's just the price we have to pay before we decide to do things OUR WAY!! GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF YOU! THANKS FOR THE POST! PS. Can't wait to see what my Endocrinologist has to say about me next month $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

I was experiencing high b/p so the doctor prescribed, Metoprolol 25 mg a day. I took it for one month and was having burning sensations in chest below breast bone, palpitations, tightness in chest like I could not get a full breath of air. Stomach pain, gas nausea and upset bowels. I complained to my doctor and he switched me to Toprol XL and upped it to 50 mgs a day. Still having palpitations, burning sensation in chest and stomach upset. I am hoping the side effects will diminish and my body adjust to this pill. The doctor has told me to give it some more time to allow for this.

I am 21 years old and my doctor prescribed me 20mg of Adderall to take twice a day. I've been taking it for about a week (only in the morning, I'm still too wound up to take it 4 hours later!) and I have already lost 10lbs. Also I've been having trouble breathing deeply, chest pain, tingling in my arms and legs, and no appetite whatsoever. Are these symptoms normal?

I am 43 years old and I have been taking Yasmin for 4 months to regulate an irregular period. Two weeks ago I went to the Dr. becuase it felt like someone was sitting on my chest and I couldn't get a good breath of air. My Dr. decided my symptons didn't add up and sent me to the ER. There they found after a blood test that my blood was clotting. They did a MRI immediately and found two very large clots in my lungs as well as numerous clots throughout my lungs (multiple pulminay emboli). I was rushed from the military hospital to a downtown ICU who then rushed me to a teaching hospital because my condition was so severe. After 4 days I went home and I am now on Coumadin to thin my blood. Tests are being run to determine where the clots are coming from. No clots were found in my legs; it appears the clots are acute and out of nowhere filled my lungs. I am out of breath most of the time and get tired easily. A week prior to noticing my chest heaviness I had severe stomach pains. The day I came home from the hospital I threw away my Yasmin. The Dr.'s are unclear if Yasmin is the cause, I do not have a history of clots in my family. I have been told if no other tests can determine what caused the clots, then they will assume Yasmin was the cause. I know have to worry about paralysis, stroke, etc..

Having now read many of the postings here I feel very luck. I have had asthma for a lifetime. I have used every medicine known to man and for the most part have been able to maintain a relatively normal lifestyle. Although sometimes I still struggle to breath those times that I feel overwhelmed are somewhat rare.
I came to this website to learn what others might be dealing with as far as side effects and found a bucnh of things listed by others that I had never thought of before.
Advair to me has been somewhat a wonder drug. Till I started taking it my breathing was much worse and I never wanted to be far from my emergency inhaler. I have been on Advair now for maybe 5 to 6 years. I don't even own an emergency inhaler. Although sometimes I wish I did as I still have an occasional flair up.
The things that I have suffered with are a constant and very annoying need to clear my throat. And a loss of voice that just seems to get worse with time.
And yet, If you told me to get up and walk 3 to 5 miles I wouldn't hestitate doing it. And in fact would feel better when I was finished than when I started.
I feel like many others ---- the side effects are a real drag. However ---- breathing is job one. Without a good breath of air what difference does the rest make.
One last thing. I am 58 years old. I had a sister that died of asthma at 28. One thing that I have learned that I would like to share. Part of effective asthma control is controling your emotions. Thinking about it too much ----- always makes it worse.
