Brilliant symptoms and conditions

I am getting mine removed FRIDAY!! And Friday can't come soon enough. I am kinda bummed tho for having to go back on the pill but I can't hack this ANY LONGER!!! One of my friends works for a GP and I went to him because of some of my side effects. The flu like symptoms minus having the flu (had it for at least 2 to 3 mos now) NO sex drive (causing trouble with my marriage. Hubby is taking it WAY to personal), swelling in my hands, feet, legs, and face. (my face will feel flush and BAM I'm swollen!!) VERY BAD MOOD SWINGS!!! Very Bad isn't the word for it!! There are no words to explain my moods!! ANYHOW..... I sent this to my friend to read and she pulled it up at work. Well the GP said that this isn't a reliable place to go for information on the side effects. "There are NO positive side effects to anything." Which is true BUT he seems to think going to Web MD or some sight like that is more reliable than here. And that this sight shouldn't scare me and he wouldn't urge me to have it removed after reading this. (OH YEAH I forgot to mention joint pain, I have HORRIBLE joint pain in my hands, wrists, elbows, knees, ankles, and feet. The worst of it is in my wrists and elbows) Back to what I was saying. To that (this sight not being reliable) I say go to Web MD and post there too! I pray that I can get back to me after this comes out!! I hope it don't take too long either! I MISS the old me and HATE the new me!! But FRIDAY HURRY UP AND GET HERE. And for anyone who has had it removed........ anything I should be repaired for??? Thanks for your time!

Hi, my 14 year old daughter was prescribed Topamax about 6 months ago due to migrains that started when she had Mono. The mono lasted a good five months and the nuerologist to whom we were referred prescribed Tomamax after nothing else worked.

This morning as she was leaving for school, she said " I will take Aleve twice a day for the rest of my life, the Tomamax has made me stupid and I can't take it anymore!" With that my beautiful, brilliant daughter was out the door.
I am sick that I didn't look into this drug sooner. I found this site and am floored at all the side effects that sound exactly like hers. She has always been an A+ sudent who works hard, she lately has been saying she feels dumb, can't remember things, her knees hurt, her hair is falling out, she can't think, she is depressed etc. I have been downplaying her symtoms and blaming it on the mono. I am outraged at the craziness this drug has obviously caused and my failure to recognize the cause.

My questions now are, can she quit the Topamax immediatly and when, if ever can she expect her cognitive ability to return?

Please tell me the effects are not life long and what my next step should be to help relieve her of these symptoms.

Hi, I'm so sorry about your experience with the mirena, it's such a shame that something that could be potentially brilliant, isn't quite all it's cracked up to be.
I had, and still do have a lot of problems with bleeding. I would say, since I first had mirena fitted in march, I've bleed for two thirds of that time. Th last bleed was 2 weeks ago and it seem to gradually be getting heavier.
The worse thing for me so far is the weight gain. I lost 4 stone last year, put a stone on over christmas - explainable enough. The last month my weight has increased by a good 9lbs. My appetite is uncontrollable.
Has anyone else found that their appetit went haywire?
I am seriously considering having it removed purely for the weight gain as there is no way I'm going back.

I started Advair in November 2006; within days I started bruising on the inside of the thighs, calves and tricep area. One bruise developed in my sleep (!) that was about 6 in. long and 3 in. wide on the inside thigh. It was brilliant red and blue! But I chalked it up to getting accustomed to the new drug. Well about 5 months into this I noticed I could no longer sing or hold a note for any length of time without losing total breath. In the morning I would call out for one of my animals and nothing would come out of my mouth! Alarmed I stopped the Advair for about a week. The brusing stopped; my voice returned. I decided to try Advair again and yes, the bruising returned in the same areas and the voice issues started back. NOW I've been diagnosed with anemia in just 5 short months! Nothing changed except using Advair and Fluctonase. I'm now off Advair by my own choosing, my voice is returning, the bruises are gone but I still have to get my iron count up. Has anyone had anemic issues using this drug?

No side effect that I've noted. For me, works probably twice as well as any of the others, including Singular, Pulmicort, etc. (that bronchodilator in addition to the steroid is brilliant!) I have some tiredness, stuffiness, etc. off and on, but attribute that much more to the underlying allergies, asthma, etc. rather than the medication - certainly better on the meds than without. Does wonders for my actual breathing.

Hi everyone, Okay its day 6 of taking prednisone, I am feeling so light headed and awful that I decided to get a second opinion on my Bronchitis and all the cortisone that my Doctor has been giving me. Twice a day on Cortisone nebulizer and 40g of Prednisone a day. I am calling another Doctor I trust that I used before I moved State, tomorrow. I want to get a second opinion about how to wean myself off this Cortisone. I have then decided to go an see a Homeopath that helped me with my 35kg weight loss. She is brilliant. She is far from me to drive but after going through the side effects of this Prednisone I will drive anywhere to get better medical treatment. So no more chemicals in my body from now on I want natural medicine, it may take longer to heal but at least its going for the root of the problem and not the symptom. Wish me luck! -

Here is what happened to me...This weekend the love of my life and I broke up. I blame Yasmin. I had noticed 3 weeks ago I was feeling really different. As explicitly explained by all the others I was experiencing the very same side effects. It started with the depression so a few weeks before my 30th birthday i went to see my doctor. I told him I was having a lot of stress, sadness and general feeling like everyday was a Monday. The brilliant doctor- NOT really....suggest an anti-depressant. I was reluctant as I had never been known to be "depressed" but I said what the hell and I tried it. Mind you this doctor NEVER once mention it could be the Yasmin making me feel blue (that he precribed in Dec so that my boyfriend and I didn't have to worry about getting pregnant). Anyway....what I am telling you is I had zero control over my emotions, I zero control over my actions related to my emotions. I felt possessed. It has cost me my relationship. I tried to explain it but he won't budge. All he can remember is what I did to him on his brothers wedding...if your wondering we were at the reherrsal dinner and I went it a panic mode and felt ignored and completely alone so I tapped him on the leg and told him I was leaving...and left. We talked after but he is angry and admits he will never get over it. So now I am without my bestfriend and more depressed then before. Probably not meant to be.

Anaphylactic Shock- My mother was given an IV prior to surgery and after receiving only 1/20th of prescribed amount had a very severe allergic reaction, felt dizzy, passed out, had a seizure, turned brilliant red, drastic drop in blood pressure, she could have died. (Surgery is being postponed, but she will be in I.C.U. for a while)
