I will be on prednisone for the rest of my life so my Pulmonologist says. I have an auto-immune disorder called allergic broncho pulmonary aspergillosis. I thought I was alone until I read all your messages when it comes to leg, and joint pain. My doctor acts as if I am crazy, and that it is not a side effect of the medication I am taking. It has gotten worse the longer I have been on the drug. I rarely sleep, and I have an appointment with him tomorrow. If anyone can suggest something that helped them I would love to hear it. I have tried everything, and the only relief is when I take pain medicine which I do not want to be on forever.

I would like to make a general statement about Paxil. The indications are so broad spectrum that I believe this medication deserves an award for, in many cases, effectively treating a plethora of conditions. It is known and purported to treat anxiety, depression, phobias, panic, and other forms of common psychological maladies. Those interested in Paxil and the benefits that it can bring into one's life should seriously discuss this option with a medical practitioner. Medical doctors aren't the only ones who can prescribe this medication; in several states (or possibly all states), you can get a Nurse Practitioner or Physician's Assistant to prescribe it. Clearly you must always consult a licensed medical practitioner before considering any prescribed drug. I'm not a doctor, but I believe that discussing one's mental health with a medical practitioner is one of the smartest choices one can make in life (if you think you have a mental health condition). Go see a doctor or practitioner to get checked out, if you think it's appropriate.

HI guys I was given pred at 60mg then over the next several weeks I tapered off. it is now about 3/4weeks since I took the last tablet. Whilst i was on them I developed quite bad hand tremors/shakes and since taper off to a low dose I have started with muscle twitches all over. Has anyone had experiences like these? And how long did they last?

Singulair, montelukast, contains a chloroquine in it's molecular structure. I am praying that the FDA takes this investigation seriously. Other countries are concerned about the neuro-psychiatric side effects of these categories of drugs for some very good reasons.
"In summary, we have used a combination of electrophysiology, ligand binding, homology modelling and simulated docking to define the mechanisms by which quinine, chloroquine and mefloquine inhibit the 5-HT3 receptor response. Our observations further extend the number of receptors known to be affected by these compounds and the growing diversity of targets may account for the broad spectrum of side effects that have been reported by patients receiving them (Luzzi and Peto, 1993; Palmer et al., 1993; Taylor and White, 2004). Inhibition of the 5-HT3-mediated current could have wide-ranging effects in the nervous system, as 5-HT3 receptors can modulate a variety of neurotransmitter responses such as those to GABA, dopamine and cholecystokinin (Thompson et al., 2006b)."

I was prescribed this med in DS form for a lingering sinus infection that I had for over a month and a half. The first day was ok except when I went to bed I started feeling a headache coming on. I figured it was just because my sinuses were infected and dry. The 2nd day after only the first pill of the day, DS (RX 2x daily) I went about my morning workout and pretty much felt ok; just a little tired. However, when I got home, I started feeling chills and then hot, then thats when the horrendous MIGRAINE hit me. From there my eyes were swollen, blood shot, I was white as a ghost in the face, my head and ears started closing up, I was painfully fatigued all over like I had the flu. Now into day 2 evening, my throat is starting to swell and hurt. Even after taking something that usually works for my occasional stubborn headache, it for the first time ever, did NOT work. I still have the migraine now. I did call Kaiser today. They said they knew these could be possible side effects. I just don't know how, with so many issues/complaints about this drug from such a broad spectrum of people and all OVER THE WORLD that they would not halt the release of anymore of this drug to anyone! In fact I was reading a report, I believe from the UK where they have banned this drug. There are so many other options that yes come with side effects but NO THING close to what Ive seen here. I know ,but isn't it sad that the drug companies will never let that happen here. I have taken different types of antibiotics and this is the WORST! I expect I will be making a trip to the ER at the rate this keeps going.

In the past I had taken two separate three day courses for diverticulits, it worked right off, no problems. Last time I had diverticulitis, my doctor prescribed 10 day course of combo levaquin and flagl. After 7 days, I started to get hip joint pain, foot joint pain, and mild numbness in fingers on both hands and toes on one. I called doctor, and stopped the levaquin, and fortunately, the divertiltis was gone. However, the joint pain lessened after stopping but is taking weeks to fully go away.
I have found that silica (usually found in horsetail or oceanic) is helpful against the joint pain. (I had also tried selenium, msm, but were of no help for this joint pain.) Most of the joint pain is gone after several doses of silica, but the numbness, though lessened, lingers on a bit.
i don't think I'll take levaquin again for diverticulitis unless I'm dying. I've found that garlic tablets (I like solary's) very helpful, as is vitamin-c, for fighting back my intenstial bugs, and if I use garlic & vit-c for 5 or more days, it seems to cure the problem. Also I've heard that bacteria do not build up immunity to garlic, that it is a broad-spectrum antiboitic and antiviral, and so even if I stop taking it too soon and the bug comes right back, I can just get back on the garlic for a longer time, no worries about mutant bacteria.

I think is such a broad spectrum antibiotic it kills of good and bad bacteria and can lead to a yeast overgrowth. Yeast overgrowth in men and women can lead to extreme fatigue and many colon problems. I get sinus infections frequently 3-4 times a year; and I make sure when I take this I also take a good pro-biotic and eat plenty of yogurt and continue 2-3 weeks after I have finished my course of Levaquin.

I have a tip and an Indian friend of mine told me this traditional remedy and it worked with my white tongue coated with anti-biotics induced candida, he said you probably have this in your entire gut after the antibiotics especially after doxy. He told me to eat a fresh garlic clove every morning and drink at least 2-3 glasses after that. i did that and after 2 days my white candida coated tongue is gone. i feel a little refreshed for some reason. think its working wonders. if you research more it takes time for candida to go away. so i'm taking garlic every morning from now on. and in the evening and at night after meals, i take this GNC MEGA ACIDOPHILUS, has 1.5 billion cells in a capsule.
According to my 3 month research and dietitian's ideas and traditional remedies and friends who have experienced this who have posts on this site... Antibiotics kill all bacteria's in the entire gut, when they are killed they transform into yeasts and molds inhibiting the intestinal walls. Candida is the most common yeast. acidophilus alone wont do much and will take a lot of time until that yeast and mold are not cleaned.
GARLIC is the most potent natural yeast/mold killer for our entire GI without side effects. I suggest you clean your gut with that in the morning and while you are through the day, on your second meal take GNC's MEGA ACIDOPHILUS. try this remedy all of you and do let me know how it works out. Stay away from sugars, yeast based breads and
the only thing i am scared of is the ringing in the ears even after 3 Months of quitting doxy but again i think everything that goes wrong in our body has something to do with our gut. after all, our entire Gastro-Intestinal Tract is our 80% immune system and we put antibiotics in our gut disrupting our very own immune system.
I didn't know doxycycline was this potent. Since its a Broad-Spectrum Anti-Biotic, it was supposed to do things it did to me and to people in this forum. Now the damage is done and I hope TIME WILL HEAL for sure as our livers and kidneys get rid of the drug from our blood slowly while we feed our gut with anti toxins and populate it with good bacteria.
God Bless All.
