I was surprised and enlightened to read the side effects of Zoloft (or its generic) from other users. I took Prozak for years. It didn't seem to be having the same effect so I asked my dr. about changing it. My brother takes Zoloft and it does wonders for him, so I asked to try Zoloft. I am taking a generic form now. Since starting taking Zoloft, I have experienced an almost uncontrollable urge to eat. Not just when I am hungry, but eat until I am miserable. It was comforting at the time, but discouraging to see my weight increase. It was very difficult for me, since I have always been able to control my weight and to lose weight when I tried. My gastroenterologist told me that I should lose some weight, that the extra weight around the middle would cause pressure and add to my acid reflux. I also experience a feeling of "fuzzy" headiness, with difficulty concentrating or remembering things. Some nights, I find it very difficult to sleep.

I am 43 yrs. old and have had 2 back surgeries and other procedures to help elevate my pain, but to no avail. I am now on 60 mg of oxycontin and dilaudid for pain which seem to be finally making a difference. And for some reason my doctor has put me on zanaflex also. I took one dose and I don't know if I wasn't to continue, last night was the first dose and I had a strange feeling as I was falling sleep that I was going to die!!! As I tried to wake myself up out of the drowsiness it subsided and I fell asleep. When I woke up I remembered having strange dreams about my mother and my brother both who has passed away in the past 2 1/2 years. I mean really bizarre dreams that make no sense. I believe it to be because of the zanaflex. Does anyone else have these problems??

I was a healthy 23 year old. I have had a pretty rollercoaster 3 yrs. I had a baby young, lost my mother to cancer, moved to FL. came back to NC, moved in a stressful house(knowing it would be) had issues with the father of my child(now resolved) and lost my brother. I started getting the attacks maybe a month after I lost my brother. I was put on Zoloft(50mg), it seemed to be working, but only being on it for about 2 weeks I started to have fluttering around my heart. I saw my doc and she took me off of it. I'm also on birth control. Now I have insane thoughts that something is going to happen or something bad is going on in my body. I have these weird headaches. Sometimes I get them and sometimes I don't. It feels like my head has this fullness most of the time. Or I'll get this quick zapping feeling on one side or both. I have an app coming up and I will be bringing this up. I haven't had any of these symptoms since being on/off the meds and my birth control.

I am a 44 yr old female. I have been on Zocor for 2 yrs. I have never had high cholesterol. I have a family history of heart disease and after my 44 yr old brother had a heart attack and the transplant, my doctor put me on Zocor as a precaution. I have had problems over the 2 yrs and have been to the doctor many times only to be dismissed as Oh, I need to lose weight, I need to get out of the house more, I need to exercise, It must be my depression....and on and on. I have never had a kidney or liver test in 2 years. I never knew I needed on and my doctor never tested me. I have over 30 symptoms/side effects of Zocor. I only looked into the side effects after my mother-in-law had muscle break down, an intestinal blockage and a ruptured bowel and almost died a few weeks ago. I couldn't believe what I found on this site. I immediately stopped the Zocor. I started to feel better right away but it was short lived. i felt great for 1 week and then it all crept back in on me for a week and then this last week I am back in bed with dibilitating fatigue and muscle weakness. I will now list my symptoms/side effects.
Shortness of breath; heart palpitations; droopy eye lid (left eye); eye lid twitch (right eye); optical migraines; numbness & tingling of my arms (from the elbows down) and my hands; My hands "fall asleep"; Itching all over; severe muscle weakness ( I have dropped things); muscle pain; joint pain (even the little ones in my toes); leg cramps; critically anemic (on 3 iron pills per day); ruptured ankle tendon (left ankle, currently being treated with a brace trying to avoid surgery); hot flashes/flushing; cold hands and feet; dizziness;, loss of balance; headaches; blurred vision; mental fog; confusion; loss of memory; loss of concentration; extreme and debilitating fatigue; insomnia; trouble staying asleep (wake every hour); huge weight gain; swelling of calves, ankles and feet; dark colored urine; gas; upset stomach; diarrhea; stomach pain; depression; anxiety; hair loss; bruises; mouth ulcers; back pain; tingling on top of head; heaviness in my thighs; EXHAUSTION! I feel like I am 100 yrs old. I have had nights that I thought I was dying and had panic attacks that I would not survive the night. I have 3 young children to take care of. I can not even put conditioner on my hair or shave my legs in the shower because I have to get out so quickly due to exhaustion. I have to lean on one elbow at the sink to brush my teeth. When I get out of the shower I can barely breath, I am wheezing, my heart is pounding and I feel like I will collapse so I have to get out and rush to my bed. I home school my 3 children and most days we do school in my bed. Everything is an effort. I can never plan anything because most days I am incapacitated. I may have a good day and can actually go out to dinner or Walmart once or twice a month and then I can't wait to get back home and get in bed because I am so worn out. I don't see how this drug can actually remain on the market. I am so angry and upset that my doctor never told me this could happen. When I asked about side effects I was told "oh no there aren't any really". My doctor never ran tests on me. I just can't believe this. I go tomorrow for blood work and I go to the doctor on Mon to discuss the results and all of my problems. I am so afraid that I have permanent damage to my muscles and possibly my heart. I went tot he doc months ago with shortness of breath and swelling and she did an EKG and said my heart was fine and I was not having congestive heart failure. I fear I was and still am! It is not normal to be out of breath just brushing your teeth and combing your hair. I hope we all get the answers we are looking for and that we all recover from this horrible drug. God bless you all!

I started 40 mg Simvastatin in Sept 2007 and stopped it March 08. I developed severe carpal tunnel Sept 07 and it went away March 08.....gone. The illness simvastatin caused has taken a year to get better. At times, I was too weak to feed myself. Drenching sweats, 24 hour a day headache, vomiting, light headed, blurry vision, and swollen neck glands. On a scale of 1-10, fatigue was a 10. I developed Rheumatoid Arthritis. I had very few arthritis episodes but it showed on blood work. It went into "remission" Dec 08. I was still sick. They said RA was reason I was so ill. I honestly felt I was dying. They tried to fix me, cost me a lot of money. I started CoQ10 a month ago. Made changes with other meds too. I am just now seeing an improvement. The large swollen gland on my neck has started to go away. The headache and fatigue are getting better. It's been a long road. I think it effects so many people in so many different ways that doctors are not clicking. My father, my aunt, my cousin, my brother and I all had different aches and pains. The one thing we had in common was extreme fatigue. We all stopped statins and some recovered quickly. Dad and I are still suffering. No more statins for me.

I am really worried! I have taken Yasmin for a year until my doctor switch me to Yaz and Ive been taking that for two years. So for 3 years I have been taken a pill that now has a lawsuit! I have been getting these side effects as well; the tiredness, the vomiting (when my brother and I used to live together, we would eat the same things and sometimes I wont throw it up later, yet he would be fine) I cry a lot! i mean alot! I had people tell me that I may be Bipolar and so I didn't think that these side effects had anything to do with the birth control I have been using for over 3 years. I also had my gallbladder taken out last year and the doctors told me they didn't know why at my age, my gallbladder decided to fail on me. I also have been getting really weird headache on the right bottom back of my head (light a hard tight headache) and now that someone has pointed out nightmares, I have also noticed that since ive been taking yaz i have also been having these weird bizarre dreams every other night or so. again didn't know that this was due to the pill, i thought it was my lack of rest. I also have been experiencing this weird flashing dot in my right eye that has been going on for a year and a half now. Im really worried that these side effects are due to this pill. I don't have a sex drive neither, as a matter of fact, i haven't had sex in two years! I also have that funny 'fluid' feeling in my ears and its been extremely hard to concentrate these past years. Im really worried, I am going to stop taking yaz after this pack is over.

About a month ago I noticed my left thigh was going numb. I had been a little less active due to tennis elbow, so I stepped up my exercise a bit. The whole side of my thigh hip to knee became completely numb. A few days later I began to tingle in my hands and face and by big toe and foot. I went to my Chiropractor 3 times a week and he really felt I was in good alignment and should not be having these extreme problems. He scheduled me for an MRI and x-rays. He kept asking about ANY other changes in life. I lost my brother to polymyositis 5 years ago and was starting to have scary thoughts. I woke up at 2am on a Friday 2 weeks ago and remembered my Dr. had started me on Lipitor 6 weeks earlier !
I got up and googled "Lipitor numbness" and found this page and a host of others. I stopped taking Lipitor. It has been 2 weeks since I quit and numbness has turned to shooting pains and burning so bad I can hardly stand my pant legs or my bed sheets touching me. I continue to have tingling in my hands and feet and I am a professional musician. (guitar player) Will somebody please tell me that over time all of these symptoms will wear off and pass ?

ok my brother was taking adderall for about 1 year I reali dont no what the milliagrams where but i do no they where orange pills not the capsuls. And about a month or so ago he actually said he thought he was having a heart attack so my g/ma took him to the hospital and the doc said it wasnt a heart attack but it was hypertentsion or something like that. Also if he started playin a game or anything it was like everything else disapeared.I swear when he was playin a game watching t.v or anything else it was like talking to a brick wall.He also was up for days and wouldnt eat anything he lost like 30pounds when he actually needed to gain 30 pounds to begin with.A couple of times he didnt take it and he would sleep and eat ALOT.But after he had his (what he thought heart attack) he quit taking it and it has been about 2 months now and i feel as if he is doing so much better now.The first month he was off it tho he as i mentioned earlier ate and sleep ALOT and had extrem mood swings. He was also very depressed. Was that from the adderall?

I have been really stressed out about the behavior of my 5 year old son. He is having uncontrollable tantrums, crying spells, aggressive behavior towards me, his dad and his 2 year old brother. He does fine at school according to the teacher. So I thought it was our structure at home. We has a very well kept schedule that we don't change very much even on the weekends. So in the last month it has gotten worse including bed wetting, restlessness, and crying episodes for 20 minutes.
My sister told me about a news piece that she saw about negative side effects of Singulair in children. So here I am on this blog. I have now had an AHA moment. This is the problem. I will be calling the pediatrician TODAY. Now I know what's going on. Thanks to all of you for sharing your experiences. I will post again with an update.

I had a slight cough for a while, but don't any more. I have been on 20mg for a couple years. About 6 months ago, both knees started hurting, but thought I was just getting old. (49). Then everything started aching. If I am moving, then I'm fine, but if I sit for any length of time and try to get up, I hurt all over. I don't know if it is this med, but reading all these posts make me think it could be. I just need to get my weight off and get off of this!
Also, I got to this site because I started having a sharp, fast pain just below my left ribcage. 2 yesterday, but about 10-15 today. Good thing it only lasts about a second, because it is bad. So-could this be from this drug, as well?

Hi My name is Daniela, and I just checked my spam box and saw an e-mail about Yasmin dangerous side effects, I guess it is organized by lawyers that wants you to sign up for a law suit..anyway, that made me really think about it ,and I googled to read more about the Yaz birth control. I have been taking Yaz for 16 months, I just stopped taking the drug , because I had to go to the doctor again to prescribe me some more, but since I don't have health insurance anymore I have postponed the visit. It has been two weeks since I stopped the Yaz an for the last 4 days I have had chest pains all around the breast area, my chest and back will hurt at the same time, I got scared thinking I can get a heart atack, or else. I am 32 years old, and It is very scary to me at that early age to have problems like these. But by reading your complains I am realizing the pain is from these pills. The first 4 months I have been taking Yaz, then I switch to Ocella (generic of Yaz) because it is much cheaper. And thinking back then, I started taking Yaz Oct 2007,, In Jan 2008 I went to see my doctor for depression, I got very angry, explode about stuff, and being depressed, and now I am putting all the pieces together, and I can really see all the similar thing that other women has t experienced during the time they took that medicine. Wow, I am glad that I stopped Ocella. And I will go to my doctor for a full exam.
My dad was telling me how a doctor told my brother that his liver look very bad, the doctor thought he is an alcoholic, but he is not, he just takes a lot of pills about anything to get rid of pain, cold, or else. And that info also made me think about myself. And how I should try to avoid pills to take care of minor headache or pain.
Thanks to all the women for sharing their experience, it has really helped me put the pieces together and help myself, by thinking, not by taking pills.THANK YOU

I was prescribed 750 mg per day yesterday for 5 days for bronchitis. I took my second pill today and I cannot bare weight on my legs, the achiness and knee pain is excruciating. My husband called my brother-in-law to help get me to the car so we could go to the emergency room. While we were waiting for him, I looked at my prescription info because that was the only thing different. I am also allergic to sulfa drugs and thought it could be a reaction to the meds. I called the pharmacist and was told this was not a common side effect but definitely could be from the drug and to stop taking it. We didn't go to the er but decided to wait and see if this would become better. I can't walk and I'm 42 years old! After 2 pills!!!

I started taking Yaz about a year ago. I started taking it around the time my brother died in a car accident. I thought that my loss of libido, tiredness, lack of interest in everything, emotional outbursts, arguing with my husband for any reason, crying over nothing, unable to concentrate while studying and unable to remember a thing were all because of my brothers death. I am now thinking that this may be due to Yaz. Does this sound like Yaz side effects? or am I suffering from depression because of my brothers death. I just haven't felt right lately and I cant figure it out.

HEY EVERYONE! well i'm 20 and after having my daughter in may 08 i decided to get the mirena because i've heard nothing but good things about it from my doctors.I received a phone call from my younger brother telling me that I needed to go to this site and look up these side affects that everyones been having. And now looking at what everyones side affects are it got me thinking about my own.I've never lost my baby bulge,my periods are completely bizarre,I started to get achne all over my back that I haven't had in YEARS! and a little bit on my face as well.I have been gaining weight and wondered why I wasn't loosing it.One day i got a SERIOUS migraine, constant nausea, once in a while i would get depressed for no reason at all and stomach pains were constant.I honestly thought it was all just in my head.Everyone was looking at me like i was some freak coming up with things to complain about.haha. Truth is Mirena was a HUGE mistake. Some months my periods where lighter, while others lasted almost a whole month!! My suggestion to anyone who has Mirena,TAKE IT OUT NOW! don't risk your health.Theres other ways of preventing pregnancy.

My 6 year old son was on Singulair for 2 months for viral induced asthma. After about 2 weeks we started noticing that angry tears were pouring out of him about minor problems - his brother didn't want to want to watch the same TV show as him, etc. By 2 weeks later he had started having daily major meltdowns, yelling that he didn't love us and never had, refusing all physical affection and calling himself a loser. This was behavior we had never seen from him before. After a month of this, we were really beginning to think that he either had a mental illness or was having a nervous breakdown. There was a wild look in his eye, and it was obvious that his behavior was confusing him, too, but he was powerless to stop it. My husband had the insight to check the Singulair side-effects the evening of a particularly bad day and we pulled him off immediately. The next day I talked to an acquaintance whose normally laid back and happy 7 year old had started saying he wished he were dead after 3 months on Singulair!
The "edge" my son had to him while on Singulair that made us think of mental illness went away almost immediately after taking him off Singulair. He was still quite irritable and quick to tears for two more weeks, but right now he's been off 3 weeks and I think we have our son back.

My mom was put on Levaquin for 3 days to follow up on a Colitis diagnosis. She began hallucinating, hearing voices, can't sleep, loss of balance, among other things. We suspect it's Levaquin and took her off yesterday.....how long until she gets back to normal? She seems to be getting worse even though she is off it now.

My brother passed away at 56 of a stroke. So after having my blood tests done, everything was high, cholesterol, CR Protein....doctor put me on 20mg of Lipitor....the very first day, I had severe muscle weakness in my upper thighs, back of my calves, pain in my knees, pain in my wrists, pain in my fingers. What a nightmare. I tried it for two more days, called the doctor told him, he said reduce the dose in half........not a chance, I told him I believe in quality of life, not quantity of life. I'd rather be dead, then live like that.......and yet the doctor didn't tell me to get off of Lipitor!!!

I just wanted to comment to all of you asthma sufferers. I grew up with bronchitis and my brother with asthma. We were always getting sick while young, about every 6 weeks. My nephew inherited asthma from my brother, and he had it very bad, was always getting sick, needing oxygen, etc. While in his teens, someone told him to start playing an instrument like the trumpet or trombone which really exercises your lungs. He started taking lessons in school and it didn't take very long at all to notice a remarkable difference. His other siblings would even get sick and he wouldn't! The exercise, being natural, is a far better and healthy prevention, and makes your lungs stronger. I can't believe doctors don't spread this amazingly helpful advice around. I'm VERY sure they must have heard this before. Wouldn't news like that spread like wildfire through the medical community? But they would probably lose some business!!! So I wanted to help pass it around. I hope it helps some of you!

My son is in second grade and has been on Zyrtec and singular since he was four years old. He was diagnosed with asthma and peanut and tree nut allergies. He has always been the sweetest kid. However, we noticed in first grade that he was spacing out and not always focused. he became easily frustrated, did not want to do his homework, cried for everything and gave up easily. This year in second grade we are noticing the same thing in addition to talking back, being aggressive with his brother, rolling his eyes and having a nasty disposition. He is negative and complains a lot. His grades have been suffering greatly. He rushes through his school work and does not pay attention or try.
I am so happy for the reading that I am seeing on this site. My son is coming off the singulair and the Zyrtec first thing in the morning.

My Dad has had colon surgery. Levaquin was prescribed. My Dad is 84. He was doing very well for several days, then went off the deep-end. He had hallucinations and aggressive behavior to name a few of many, many side effects. He thought they were trying to kill him. Unhooked all the intravenous and oxygen tubes and left. They caught him at the stairs. Had to sedate him and tie him down. My Dad did not know me nor my brother.
He has been off the intravenous drug for several days. While better, he is still working off the effects.
He has had many of the listed side effects, however, with the colon surgery how much is part surgery and part drug as far as nausea, stomach pains, bowel issues, vomiting, is a guess. However, he went from doing very well to a mess.

All I can say is:
1 – for no “explained reason” my neck collapsed and I needed a life saving fusion operation to prevent my spinal chord from going any farther into the brain. I was told that I “should” have died. I did not. It was less than one year from starting FOSAMAX. and I had no other symptoms that would have indicated the neck would collapse. Kind of like DEAD JAW, but in the neck.
Thankfully, vIOXX (which (allegedly…) prevents bones from healing (and spines – do a google on “vioxx bone healing”) was not on the market at the time… and the operation did fuse (else death).
Go forward one year… a later total lumbar operation, (also going to be added to a lawsuit in re to FOSAMAX) causing the collapse of the lumbar spine was needed. Sure, before FOSAMAX (allegedly) did its thing, it was supposed to be an EASY, ‘no sweat” operation that would merely help my body geometry a bit with a simple procedure - sure one more year of FOSAMAX and the spine was now about ten times worse than expected. The surgeon was stuned.
Anyway, that (total lumbar fusion) - failed because (allegedly) along to the market comes vIOXX…. I am pursing the detail, but as FOSAMAX is now known to give many DEAD JAW and it now appears that my neck bones destruct – which are near the jaw decided to destruct. Further, FOSAMAX is showing to have more problems than DEAD JAW. Had FOSAMAX and vIOXX not entered my life, I would have merely had arthritis and had done fine except for some pain. My brother, having exactly the same arthritis, DID NOT have either “poison pill”, and has done just fine, by the way.
2 - They are now finding that FOSAMAX also tends to provide problems with long bones and people are breaking femurs (allegedly) from FOSAMAX. Nice huh? So, now what happens? I simply fell and broke my femur – or I am now realizing that I broke my FEMUR THEN FELL – another thing people are finding out about (allegedly….). It also should not have happened as I DID NOT HAVE OSTEOPOROSIS and had fallen many times before I took the FOSOMAX POISON and it imbedded into my bones (takes about 6-12 months). FOSAMAX took me down big time, vIOXX kept me down. Almost having died 3-4 times from operations that failed and complications - I did not die obviously, and will continue my pursuit of the truth – look for a web site in a month or two…..
3 – So, FOSAMAX caused/contributed (allegedly again I must say….) the broken femur, and vIOXX stopped it from healing. That is called the “double whammy” in recent vernacular. After several operations (and over 6 months of hospitalization; 8 months total) failing without anyone knowing why or expecting that (my overall health was just fine except for arthritis and it was supposed to be a routine operation), they were about ready to amputate the leg. Fortunately, an astute NJ surgeon 150 miles away just realized IT WAS NOT GOING TO HEAL, and patched it together with glue, thus saving the leg and walking for first time in more than ½ year.
4 – I am going to leave alone the issue of “stress fractures” as this is enough to digest for now… but watch out for this issue….
5 – someone mentioned this: -- > “Can Fosamx D 70 mg be the cause of Ecchymosis Petechiae, I have developed what looks like an "under the skin" rash, on the ankles and upward on the leg, sometimes dark and also gets lighter…”
All I can say is that I went from having TEXTBOOK just beautiful circulation in my legs (was sincerely told it should be in a textbook) to a lot of problems, including very similar to the above AFTER taking FOSAMAX for 2 years. That was another quick thing to happen. Readers can interpret if FOSO may have caused that.
6 – I shall not forget, also, the horrible aches and pains I had within a few months of having FOSOMAX. I just thought it was arthritis acting up. NO, now I know it was from FOSAMAX. My whole history fits like a glove…
In fact, FOSAMAX brought me down, and vIOXX kept me down (allegedly). Merck should not sell their wares when they know their bone “science” was not “science” but a fraudeulent, dangerous and even (vIOXX) killing poison(s)…. (allegedly….)….
FOSOMAX and VIOXX were the very worst things to have entered my life. I pity others who had them concurrently. I shall spend 2009 finding others in the same situation with bone – spine problems from either or both concurrently.
If you have have had a bone/spine destruction or healing problem and taking FOSAMAX and/or vIOXX at the time – please feel free to email me at badbonehealing@hvc.rr.com. I will be creating a Web Site to dialogue and share research on. These (bone – spine) are horrible problems from these two poisonous (allegedly…) drugs and the PUBLIC NOW NEEDS TO KNOW. I asked the courts to help, and they have not. So, I cannot be blamed for not being transparent and doing as I said I would do.
Thank You…

I am asking a question on behalf of my brother. He had a stent inserted about 5 years ago due to blockage in one artery. The doctor put him on 20mg Lipitor and Plavix. Ever since then he has been getting Afib. Twice he has had to go to the hospital to get his heart back in rythm and other times he's able to get it back on his own. He has cut back to 10mg Lipitor and takes 100 mg COQ10. Has anyone else had Afib with Lipitor? He seems to think it's the stent causing it and I'm convinced it's the Lipitor. By the way, his cholesterol was not high, only his triglycerides. Thanks for any input.

I am starting to think I would like to be a part of a class action law suit, my daughter had to switch schools because of her mood swings, and vague hallucinations. and vague paranoia. She once ran into a parking lot she was so afraid of needles! Took her to a psychiatrist, sensed she was quick to put her on mood stabilizers and left before the eval. Recently her ped refused to up her dose of singulair and told me about depression. I subsequently upped her flovent and took her off her singulair. I did this after I heard her teacher saqy she kept on leaving the classroom to go to the nurse, and was exhibiting defiant behavior. and saying she was depressed, hearing music that wasn't there, etc. Now that shye has been off of it a week, she is a different child, and hasn't argued with me once. Hasn't cried for 5 days. has not argued w2ith her brother either! I feel I have the child back from 5 years ago when she started taking it! unfrigging believable! I would love to sue, because these episodes have almost ruined my marriage, and caused me to miss many days of work, and feel guilty when I didn't Thank-God I just took her off of it on a whim!
