I was just at the Optomalogist's office 6/19/07 for seven hours and ER for five hours. I was being treated for Acute Angle Closure Glaucoma.
Started with a sneeze on 6/19 a.m. that brought on blurry vision in right eye. As the day progressed both eyes became affected. Pressure in right eye was 51 and pressure in left eye was 50. (pressure should be between 12-15) Eye Doctor tried to bring down eye pressure by giving me Diamox 250 mg and drops of Istalol and Alphagan (ended up getting a full 1000 mg of Diamox) before they set me to the ER for an I.V. of Mannitol to deliver medicine faster, which brought down my pressure to right 32 and left 28. Back at Eye Dr's 6/20 pressure is down to right 20 and left 22.
Will follow up again with them on Friday. This is all due to me taking 25 mg. of Topamax for the last three weeks for Migraines. Surgery would of been my next option if the I.V. did not work. They were talking about using a laser to cut a hole in my eye to relieve the pressure. Still have blurry vision today but it is slowly coming back. I wanted to find out about other people with the same type of problem as me.

I get overheated real easy unless it is 70 deg I have been taking 10 mg for years and always got hot easily but never gave it much thought. Last time I went to the doctor my BP was 150/100 so she increased it to 20 mg. That brought down my BP, but as it got warmer, even 75 deg at work, I am sweating just standing still. I have concluded that since she increased this only 3 mos ago that lisinopril just has got to be the problem here. I was miserable on my vacation simply too hot to enjoy myself. This stuff must mess with salts in the body in some way.

I took Toprol XL for a short time in order to regulate extremely high systolic bp. It did little to reduce that, but brought down the diastolic rate as well as my heart rate so low I was in danger of passing out. The doctor immediately took it away and replaced it with one that takes care of the systolic withough demolishing the diastolic.

Hi Sherry!!
Sad to hear, that you're still not doing better with the weight... But please don't be despaired about what your doc said (1/2 year to let all the symptoms go away...). I've heard from so much women (they've been told so by their doctors!!) that it can last about a year or even longer to get finally back to a normal hormonal balance and fitness and weight (well, I think I've posted this already a few days ago)!! It's so different in every woman!! No doctor should say or perhaps even swear that everything has to be fine again after 6 months off a bcp!!
That's the only thing that keeps me up, when I'm brought down again by all these horrible things that happened to me within the last 3 years and especially withing the last 9 months... (Still got no regular period after getting off Yasmin in february this year!!!).
And I'm afraid that until my regular period is finally back, there'll be either no chance to get off all that "pudding" I've gained, not to talk about the withdrawal symptoms of Yasmin that I'm still hit by from time to time...
So Sherry, and everyone else out there, stay strong and don't lose hope!! I'll try and give it a year as some women said and see, what I'm looking like then and if my scale is finally moving someway down... That means for me, another 6 months (I think about may or june 2006...) with lots of heavy bones to carry every day which gets me sometimes really out of breath... absolutely different from my old self...
And please: It would be so helpful to hear, if there are women out there, that went through the same torture as many of us (the weight gain AND all of the other horrible symptoms) and perhaps are finally doing better after months or even years!! It's so important to share every information anyone can give us about this nightmare!!
Take care!!
Silke

I have written before about my disatrous experiences with statins especially Lipitor. Through the years, doctors have insisted I take them and I, like a good patient, never questioned that side effects to them were causing my problems. (knee pain, imbalance, muscle stiffness, etc.) I stopped Lipitor in Sept., 2004, and of course my cholesterol numbers spiked. I found a protocol suggested by LARRYHOR on a forum and, in desperation, tried it and it worked beautidully. In fact, my doctor said to keep doing whatever I was doing. My total cholesterol went from 293 to 226, HDL from 71 to 84, LDL from 188 to 112 and triglycerides from 166 to 152. The ratio of total cholesterol to HDL was 4.1 and was brought down to 2.7. With this protocol it is necessary to take 8 pills a day but that didn't bother me if it worked and it did. My thanks to ****** for leading me to this. I have read and researched enough about the statins to really scare me. In fact, my husband, who is also a long time user has just been told his liver enzymes are higher and he has to stop Lipitor temporarily and have additional tests. He has had a quadruple by-pass, a stent and a pacemaker so the doctors have scared him into continuing Lipitor until now. I don't think doctors have stressed muscle pain, weakness and siffness enough or maybe they are unaware that all these symptoms can be caused by statin medication and not age, as I was told. As proof, my muscle pain, stiffness and knee pain are gone. Some of the other symptoms are long lasting or maybe permanent. At least, I have no pain.

I had taken yasmin for a month and noticed severe side affects- nausea, panic attacks, dizzyness, fainting and i went to the ER to get tests done. they all came back normal. Even after I stopped taking the pill I still felt sick for a long time. The pill brought down my immune system causing me to now have Infectious Mononucleosis (Mono). I've had that for two weeks already and because of my low immune system I have also gotten Pneumonia. I was perfectly fine before I started the pill but ever since then my health has gone down hill. I am going to try another different pill again in December but I don't think I'm going with any similar ingredents...
