JILL HERE . THANK TO THOSE WHOM HAVE RESPONDED TO WHAT I TALKED ON WITH LIPITOR AND MY EXPERIENCES. THE PRINCIPLE OF WHICH IME STILL INTERESTED IN WITHOUT BEING DIVERTED.
ONE WEEK ON EATING VEGIES, FRUIT,SALADS, WEIGHED OUT PROTEIN, FISH,CHICKEN. BROWN BREAD, NO MARGARINE OR BUTTER,VERY LITTLE CHEESE, NO LIPITOR, A GOOD QUALITY VITAMIN C. NOT USING ANYTHING ELSE BUT A GOOD FISH OIL AS WELL, NOW TOTALLY BACK ON TRACK. LIPITOR WAS MAKING ME NOT ONLY FEELING ILL BUT ILL IN A WAY I KNEW I WOULD BE IN TROUBLE TAKING IT ANY MORE.
THANK GOD IME NOT. I MAY NOT STAY ON THE VIT.C. BUT THE GOOD QUALITY FISH OIL , YES. IME WORKING HARD ON OTHER THINGS ALSO AS A ALL ROUNDER WITH PERSONAL GROWTH, AND WILL ASK FOR A BLOOD AND URINE TEST IN SIX WEEKS TIME, AND TAKE IT FROM THERE, ON THE RIGHT TRACK NOW, THANK YOU FOR YOUR INPUT.
HOPE ALL WORKS OUT FOR ALL OF YOU. BY THE WAY THE DR. WILL BE A DIFFERENT ONE TAKING MY BLOOD AND URINE NEXT TIME. IRRETRIEVABLE DAMAGE NIPPED IN THE BUD JUST IN ENOUGH TIME.
REGARDS. JILL.
FOR ME IVE BANNED STATINS. AS A LADY WHOM HAS NOT HAD ANY MOOD ALTERING CHEMICALS FOR OVER FORTY YEARS. IME NOT ABOUT TO MESS MY LIFE UP WITH ANYTHING JUST BECAUSE SOMEONE SAYS ITS OK, AND HAS QUALIFICATIONS.
I QUESTION ALL , AS THERE IS TOO MANY SCIENTIFIC CONS OUT TODAY. TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR ONES HEALTH IS A MINE FIELD I ADMIT AND I WILL ALWAYS HAVE THINGS CHECKED THROUGH, IME NO FOOL. BUT ALONG WITH THIS I ALSO MUST KEEP AN EAGLE EYE OUT , AS A INDIVIDUAL I CANNOT TELL ANOTHER WHAT TO DO.
GOODBYE. J.

I was placed on Pred. in November for vasculitis. I was given 20mg for about 7 days, then cortisone for several days, with great results. Then the vasculitis came back, to nip it in the bud, the doctor gave me 10 mg of Pred. which I took for 5 days, no step down. Now I have a very irritated tongue... red, inflamed, hard to eat, burns constantly. This is the only new med I have taken in months, so it has to be the Pred.

I actually had a good experience with 3 small doses of Prednisone to treat my congested sinuses, leftover from a flu virus. My body usually reacts to a head cold flu in 3 stages: get hit with the virus for a few days, then after the virus is gone, have a bad histamine response with sinus headache, sneezing and severe congestion (antihistamines don't help), and then the snot from my sinuses fills my lungs by the following week, giving me bad bronchitis. With my history of pulmonary problems (mostly due to an over-reactive immune response), I wanted to nip it at the bud, stopping the snot. I took 30 mg (light dose, as I weigh 110 lbs) the first night, slept rather well because I could breathe, but woke up 2 hours earlier than usual, my only side effect. The next morning, 15 mg, and then 7.5 mg the next night. Problem was solved! I feel better, just only a mild side effect (waking up early) for a few light doses.

I just got a very condescending private message from a doctor on this site who said that while my articles from Europe are very helpful that I don't know what I am talking about and that I could mislead the public. Then I see how many parents and patients got a condescending attitude from their own doctors.
Well the public has been mislead but it is not my fault. I don't see any experts in this field stepping up to the plate to acknowledge that these side effects exist, have been reported by authorities in other countries, and that these experts are interested in learning why they are happening. This is an extremely widely prescribed medication that involves the lives of millions.
Merck's research director was quoted as saying that they know of no mechanisms by which these side effects could be related to psychiatric adverse drug reactions. That was a flat out LIE. So what if I quoted you a research article from China that was very complicated and yes, could possibly be misinterpreted by somebody? I just needed to give you an example. The only expert so far that had the guts to give you a truthful statement was Dr. J. Douglas Bremner. Thankfully, he corrected a misunderstanding about saying that it was "unclear."
I hope that we will all hang in there and something will be said by somebody, anybody on this site that will make the FDA listen and investigate Singulair (montelukast) all the way back to the very original studies done in test tubes not on people. And, then take a new look at it from the standpoint of what we now know about human genetics. I guess I will keep repeating myself about one size does not fit all.
I would also PRAY that all clinical studies on Singulair (montelukast) would be suspended until the FDA decides why these side effects occur. And that they would issue a statement to doctors to make conservative decisions regarding treatment with Singulair until the results of the investigation have been reported.
I hope that nobody thinks that I am trying to mislead anyone. The answers are either unknown or being hidden by Merck. How would I know the answers? I don't work for Merck. How many other people are out there trying to translate articles in foreign languages to see what's going on? American doctors are calling Merck and being assured that there is nothing to these claims.
I wonder how many experts there are that just don't want to be another Jeffrey Wigand or don't know what is wrong?
I know that I am ranting but somebody should do it.

I have been on Prozac 20 mg for 2 full months now. During the first few weeks I had a loss of appetite and some mild nausea. Having a few crackers would nip that in the bud. It wasn't a big deal at all. Both symptoms have ceased now. I feel happy and energetic. I think it's a great medication.. I was prescribed this med due to depression caused by my method of birth control. It's been very successful for me...

I wanted to post for those going through a short course of prednisone and report that things will get better. I was prescribed prednisone at the ER for poison oak that had been getting worse over the course of 2 weeks; it looked like one knee was in the process of dissolving (soaked through 9 of those triple-layer 3x3 gauze pads in under an hour). I took 60mg for 3 days, 40mg for 3 days, and 20mg for 3 days. During that time I don't think I slept more than an hour total per night, I broke out in hives and cystic acne, and my face and stomach bloated. Then I had panic attacks as I was tapering off of the prednisone. At the end of a week after my last 20mg pill, I was almost euphoric at feeling like I was in my right mind again. All the other side-effects receded within 2 weeks and it does not seem to have had any lasting effects on my blood glucose (I'm part of a clinical trial for a vaccine). When I got reinfected with poison oak (that oil will hang around on anything it touches) I got a presciption for a topical corticosteroid from my GP and nipped it in the bud this time.

My 16 yr old daughter had her series on Gardasil shots completed in March 09. I don't recall any major side effects right away. In the past three months, she has been throwing up after taking a few bites of food. She drinks a lot of Pepsi and has a lot of stress, so I thought she was developing an ulcer, so I told her to stop drinking pop for awhile to see if that helps. The symptoms have subsided, but now that I am reading this website, I am worried. Before the shots she had headaches or migraines, they run in our family, but I have noticed that she has them more often now. Another thing is her hair is everywhere. I thought she was damaging her hair with the straight iron, but geeze, now I don't know. All these problems might be tied to the Gardasil shot.
