Where to start!! I was also put on Synthroid and have been on it now for 6 months, before that I could hardly get around and thought I was lazy. It has been changed 4 times and now I am on 88. My legs ache all the time, cant sit for long periods of time, they drive me nuts. I take Xanax at night so I can sleep but I wake up 3-4 times a night and cannot hardly walk they are so stiff. Does anyone know what the heck is wrong? I am on 12 different meds for COPD and an aspirin every day from a Heart Attack and Bypass, truly a bummer. I was so active before all this and could think on my feet, now I am just completely forgetting everything.

Just started taking 10MG about 2 to 3 weeks ago, and now I get DAILY excruciating headache pain on the right side of my brain. It primarily occurs when I exert energy (I am an open water swim competitor, so I exert a lot of energy). When I train in the pool or ocean, I get the worst headaches imaginable, which has never happened to me EVER (I am 47, and have been competing in the water for over 30 years). I water skied last weekend with my kids, and once I got up on the ski I felt the worst headache in my life; I had to stop (which was a real bummer), and almost requested to go to the hospital because I felt I was having some kind of brain aneurysm (sp?). No way am I taking any more of this "medicine"; I have been healthy (and drug free) my entire life, and not a chance will I throw it all away as a guinea pig for big pharmacy. I don't think the link between cholesterol and heart disease is as iron clad as the Drs. and pharmacy companies insist, and even if they are right, I'd rather deal with the problems later than live with the symptoms now. If you doubt if this is real, you may e-mail me at ******

Metallic taste, loss of taste: A few weeks after beginning my once/month Boniva dosage, I lost my full sense of taste. I now continuously have a sort of metallic taste in my mouth, a combination of salty/bitter tastes, and have lost the 'sweet' tastebuds. Further on the back of the tongue I still have some taste, but it is not what it was before. It's a personal loss, as I used to have very sensitive taste buds, this loss handicaps my ability to cook well, and I had been a very good home cook. I still retain a full sense of smell.

I have been on Boniva for about a year and a half, my doctor says she's never heard of anyone losing taste sensations as a side effect of this medication. I'm too concerned about possible osteoporosis, as I have osteopenia, to discontinue the drug for this alone. Has anyone experienced this side effect, is it permanent, or does it disappear if the drug is discontinued?

I have been on the NuvaRing for about 6 months now - after getting pregnant on the Diaphragm AND on the Copper IUD. I was very against hormonal birth control, but the non-hormonal options do not work for me. I have been quite happy with the NuvaRing, except for my complete lack of a libido. I am very happy to have read that I'm not alone in experiencing this - I didn't know if it was the ring or what, because they do not list that as a side effect in any information packet that I've read.
Although this is a huge bummer to have no libido (definitely considering trying another birth control form), I have no other qualms with the ring - my period is lighter, I am not nearly as moody, no cramping at all... pretty nice.

I have used Advair 250 for a few years now and have noticed a few of the same symptoms as the other posters, but my main concern is whenever I go off the drug for too long my asthma gets drastically worse. I have become extremely dependent on this expensive drug that I can barely afford and I fear it is just weakening my health while only mildly suppressing my asthma. I feel stuck with this drug now. I feel like a slave to it. It's an awful feeling.

I LOVE MY IUD. For those of you thinking about an IUD, I wanted to post a positive case study. I am sure there are more, but those people don't bother posting. Before I got my IUD, I did extensive research, not just internet or industrial propaganda, but peer reviewed medical journal articles. I decided on the IUD because of efficacy and minimal hormones. The IUD releases a steady amount of progestin that equates to about 20% that of the mini-pill (what breast feeding women take). Even less than 10% of a low dose pill.

I had the Mirena IUD inserted 7 months ago after being on the pill for way too long. I had random cramps for a few months on and off, and had to readjust to being on my OWN cycle vs. the pill. I do get PMS every month, but I attribute that to my own body's cycle, not the IUD. I have not gained a single pound, am on a normal cycle, have minimal bleeding during my period and no spotting in between cycles. My partner and I are thrilled to have this option. Only you know your body, decide for yourself.

Well Effexor is a great drug but it forced me to give upl my favorite drug.
Caffeine. Turns out that the two together cause my heart to pound.
Bummer! But I have adjusted and life without caffeine is good.

Oh.... And I forgot an important side effect for males and chief complaint..
My g/f and I *normally* have at least 2 sessions a night, and I have found that Seroquel alone can decrease libido (sex drive). Impotence, or a general lack of sex interest from meds is a real bummer, and after a bit of trial and error I isolated a correlation to Seroquel as being the culprit. Take your nighttime dose after sex. The foggy/lethargic feeling has some bearing on sexual performance/arousal for males. Just my $.02

I started taking Topamax a couple of weeks ago, but decided to make the decision to stop taking it.
Typically, I am a very quick, sharp thinker, but not while on this medication. I became very forgetful, almost absent-minded, and confused. And, the mettalic taste in my mouth was very unpleasant. I drink a lot of diet soda, a real bummer to discover it's flat taste. Also, a couple of days prior to my quitting it, the fingers in one hand were feeling numb.
If these are just the beginning of the side effects, I am saying no thanks to Topamax. There has to be something better out there with less side effects.

I am a 38 yr old female in excellent health--thin and fit, and don't take antibiotics. I had a bacterial infection and was prescribed levaquin. After the first dose, 24 hrs (500 mg 1x day) I experienced joint pain in a place i'd once injured a wrist. A few hours later it was into my hands--a deep ache, with a tight, numb feeling them. By the second dose--48 hrs later, it my joints and forearm area ached as if I'd lifted crazy weights. It moved into my shoulders, neck, hips. By the third dose, I was sleepless. My head ached at the nape of my neck and ears rang. When I got out of bed, I felt shin splints, sore ankles and my fingetips feel like they're asleep. I called the doctor and they told me to discontinue the meds. The bummer is, I was only warned at the doc's ofc of the tummy effects (which didn't happen at all to me since I timed the meals and no booze were ingested). Also the pharmacy did not provide counsel or an informational sheet which floors me after seeing this website. I really hurt. I have faith the symptoms will subside since I'm so early in the dosing. I would never take this again.

I have been on this antibiotic for pneumonia for a week. I already have a possible ulcer and have a prescription for zantac. I am on 100mg BID for two weeks. Since taking this medication my ulcer has become much much worse with frequent heartburn and a lot of drowsiness/lethargy. I feel like I float through my day and am confused and using the wrong words a lot, and just not paying full attention to anything. I have a constant pain right under my sternum that flares up and a lot of mid to lower back pain, esp. at night. I have had a headache for the last four days. I did some research and found that ANTACIDS SHOULD NOT BE TAKEN WITHIN TWO HOURS OF DOXYCYCLINE!!! Bummer for me, since I have been drinking Mylanta like it was my only source of hydration.

Hi,
I haven't written in awhile; I guess I've been trying to not focus so much on my horrible weight gain. Like Sherry, I'm 6.5 months off and the weight has not budged. I'm now shaped like a PEAR when I used to be tall and lean. BUMMER, especially this time of year!
Does ANYONE have ANY suggestions about how to get this weight moving? I eat right and get plenty of exercise. Wish there was an "antidote" for the darned pill!

Merry Christmas to All!
Rita

OMG I was under the impression that i was taking the miricle BC, i guess i am not (and i am not going crazy). I had been off BC of about a year when my doctor told me that i needed to go back on it. I had been complaining of servere cramps, and other misc. lower body pain, we decided to put me on Otrtho Cyclen after 1 1/2 weeks i called and begged that he switch me or take me off. I was going nuts. So they put me on Yasmin, and i started feeling different, not better, but I am so freaking tired, and lethargic that it is discusting. I don't want to have sex, I want to eat everything in sight, I have headaches all the time.

The bummer part is that when i had my period i had one cramp, and no PMS. That's all fine and dandy, though the trade off on the emotional side is going to put me in the hospital. I would rather have the pain then this. I am so glad that i found this board, I was starting to think that it was just me. Based on what i have read here and what i ma going through, I now know that atleast 90% of it is not me and i am not taking that pill anymore.

Considerable muscle pain in legs and hips; severe neck
and shoulder pain, mental sluggishness, memory lapses,
weight gain. This was 70 mg. once a week from Nov. 02
to May 03. I had been on the 10 mg. per day regimen from '96-'00 and had similar side effects but not as severe.
Why are doctors so gung-ho on this stuff and patients know
it is a bummer? When they put their wives on it they'll
believe us!
