Bumpy road symptoms and conditions

i posted on April 27th, on April 23rd, i stopped taking singulair, so i am here to UPDATE. after i stopped taking this death trap of a medicine, i already am seeing changes. i actually am breathing better then i have the whole time i was taking singulair, i can sleep through the night, and no HORRIBLE nightmares. jsut some normal ones, if any. but i feel like all the problems it has cause on my mental stability are still there, im guessing its going to get worse before it gets better with that. its really hard. now, me and my mom are starting to wonder if i ever had asthma in the first place, or if my dr. some how diagnosed me while i had a slight case of pneumonia. because the first time i was tested i was only breathing 60% of air, and even the nurses said i should be dead, or in an emergency room and she never not once, checked to see how my asthma was for 2 years. i honestly feel like i have been robbed of my life. its so hard to know something so little and simple, can have such a evil effect on you. because if i didn't have asthma i have been taking singulair for 2 years without needing it at all. imagine what that could have done. now im just so scared to sleep, because im scared i wont wake up. everything in my life is suffering and i don't feel like i have the strength to keep living the way ive been, im so scared every second, i am constantly checking my pulse, and now its even worse because i stopped the singulair. i already sent something to the FDA, and all that, but i doubt they'll listen. someone asked me a couple days ago "aren't you glad you at least found out your not alone" and i said "no, no one should ever have to go through what im going through, especially little kids". i feel like no one understands truly how hard this is, because its just an asthma medicine. this killed my mind, my spirit. and i don't know if ill ever be the same care-free person i once was. im constantly scared of everything, i always feel like no one wants to be around me, i just don't know. but not he positive side, im also not as weak, or tired during the day. i can actually bend down or reach up without feeling like a 98 year old women. my body is doing a lot better. its just my mind i really want back. i repost in a couple days, and hopefully everything will be a little better. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE SINGULAIR. i honestly think that, if it doesn't effect you at first it will in the long run. even if its 10 years later, you will start to slowly see something happening. just don't take it. i don't want anyone to feel, the way i do.

Hi ladies! I started Yaz in June 08 after taking Ortho-Tricylcen-Lo for 6 years (It wasn't treating my cramps or mood swings anymore). The first month was bad. I had mood swings, breast tenderness, lower back pain, anxiety, weight loss, and no sex drive. I didn't attribute this to the pill, I associated it with a very, very emotional and difficult experience that was currently occurring in my life. By the second month, I put 2 and 2 together, and realized it was Yaz. I am a pharmacist, so I am well aware of the types, mechanisms, and incidence of these side effects. I knew that these side effects usually disappear with time after the body adjusts to a new/different form of progestin. By the third month, all of the side effects had subsided, except for the inability to gert aroused, which is very unusual for me! It wasn't so much the lack of interest, but the lack of physical arousal ("getting wet"). I almost got off the pill just because of that, but I decided to tough it out just to see what happens. By the fourth month everything is back to normal and I feel great. I lost a little weight, my breasts don't get swollen and tender during the third week (like a tricyclic pill), a don't have unusual mood swings, and my period is average in length and heaviness. It was a bumpy road, but that is to be expected when you mess with the body's natural balance. It takes time to recalibrate hormones, during which time you will not feel yourself! Weird stuff will happen! I think Yaz is a good drug and patients should stick with it for at least 5 months ( or at the digression of your physician of course), unless you experience a side effect that alerts you to a serious problem (severe leg cramps, difficulty breathing, or suicidal ideation). As for the fact of it being "new and unstudied", that's not completely true. Yasmin is a higher dose of the same drugs as Yaz and it has been around practically forever. This is an excellent forum, but don't be scared off or expect a cure-all from a low dose hormone. Good luck!

I posted this as a reply in another discussion group, but thought I'd share here too due to the very serious and potentiall deadly side effect (I think may be a result of taking Yasmin):

I suffered a Pulmonary Embolism on 6/4/08 - was not on Yasmin at the time, but had been for about 2 years (was switched about 3 months before my PE). I am 36 years old, otherwise healthy (am very active and have no other underlying risk factors), and have been on other forms of the pill (on & off, but mostly on) since I was 18 - with no side effects. The more I am reading, the more I'm mad about not being appropriately warned! People seem to keep dismissing the risks of this pill. Yes, millions of women are fine on the pill, but from what I'm reading hundreds of thousands are not. PEs are terrifying and potentially deadly. In case anyone needs it, there is a great on-line support group called ***** and there is a PE suport group on there I found last week - they are wonderful people and have saved me from losing my sanity (lots of panic & anxiety). Recovery from PE is a long, painful and bumpy road, and these people are of immense support. Good luck and good health to all!

i started taking yaz a couple months ago and developed a blood clot in my lung, a pulmonary embolism. i was hospitalized for a week in may of this year. i have visited many websites to see if other women have developed blood clots due to yaz and i have found a startling number of women that have developed blood clots, and a couple girls who even lost their lives. the side effects of birth control are explained to us before we start taking them, and it is expected that some women will experience the side effects, and this is normal. however, when a disproportionately large number of women start having serious health problems due to yaz, then something is not wrong with us, something is wrong with yaz. i have seen many women express an interest in starting a class action lawsuit and i am trying to do so. i have worked in a personal injury law office for the past 2 years and know an excellent lawyer looking to take on a case of this nature and magnitude. if you or your loved one has developed a blood clot, lost their life, or have developed another serious health problem due to yaz than please email me at ****** with your name and an email address i can reach you at. A class action lawsuit requires a large number of plaintiffs. I have already gotten a few emails but need many more before we can make this happen. please email me... help me and yourself.
