I was prescribed budeprion150xr on April 6 after an ER visit having MDD and took over 6mg of klonopin..anyway during the day and a half stay I asked the nurses desk if I could get my bupropion SR 200mg and was working fine and they said they would call the hospital pharmacy and never got at 7am,12pm,nothing then I talked to the attending doctor at 5pm and told that I couldn't take it. I had severe headaches and ask also for Advil or Tylenol..nothing. Next day same excuse...horrible hospital. the prescribed me the newer budeprion. took it next day and felt sleepy and more depressed I slept three hours in the afternoon, feel irritable, robotic and an urge to leave and never come back to where I live. 7 days of hell..I am going back to bupropion 200mg sr...what a nightmare!!

I have been on Bupropion SR 300mg. since May 2007. Within the last 4-6 weeks may hair has been coming out by the hand full when I wash it. Alot of it is in my hair brush, vacuum cleaner, and on my clothes. I have used special shampoos and vitamins with no luck. I called the pharmacy and was told this was not a side effect of the medication. Funny they haven't heard, according to all the post I have read on the internet. My question is has anyone else experienced this type of loss after being on the medication for 6 months or longer? And if you stayed on it, or any other antidepressant, did the hair loss stop and grow back. I was also told that if it were to be a side effect of the medication it would have happened before now, and maybe I should have other test performed. I have already had blood work for thyroid and it came back normal. Love the medication!
Helps with more energy! Hate the hair loss! HELP!!!

I had been taking the brand name Wellbutrin SR (150mg) 2x per day. My doctor changed my dose to 200mg 2x a day, and the pharmacy filled it with the generic Bupropion SR. I have noticed my symptoms have been coming back (depression, etc.). I even have had lots of water retention, which makes me feel terrible. I would love to know if anyone has had the same problems with generic vs. the brand name. I know the pharmacy will tell us it is the SAME, but I wish now I would have requested the brand name, even if I had to wait until they shipped it in (they don't have it in stock).
Thanks!

Since being switched from Wellbutrin SR to a coated generic tablet and most recently to Budeprion, I have noticed an increase in stomach pain that did not change whether taken with food or on an empty stomach. At first it was only intermittent, but the last few months it has been chronic and I believed I was developing an ulcer. Before having the large endoscope pushed down my throat, I decided to stop the budeprion and so far the stomach pains have gone away. I am curently petitioning my prescription plan to at least come up with another generic source for bupropion SR besided Budeprion.

I have been on Bupropion SR for about a month now. I had severe depression stemming from past incidents that I was unable to get over on my own. I started at 150 mg once a day and the first 2 days I felt nothing. The third day I caught myself grinning and laughing! However, on the 5th day, my doctor upped it to 150 mg twice a day. After the fourth day of that I started feeling irritable and tired. After a week of it I started feeling dizzy, nausea, anxiety, shaky, and just generally weird. I went to a different doctor and told her the symptoms and she reduced me to 100 mg twice a day. The dizziness is gone but the irritability is still present although manageable if I just think before I speak. I also have lost about 5 pounds. I notice that some days I have no appetite and others I am ravenous. The worst side effect so far is the anxiety. I have never had it before and now when the least little event or conflict is present I start getting a churning feeling in my stomach and restlessness. As for insomnia, I do stay up too late but once I force myself into bed I pass right out. I get sleepy around 2:00pm which is when I take the second pill and sometimes can't stop myself from falling asleep at my computer at work. My dreams were more intense and lucid when I was on 300mg a day but they seem to have gone back to normal now.

Wellbutrin sr vs. bupropion sr
Last time my perscripion was filled they substituted the generic. Since then I have started to break out in a rash on my hands (sub dermal - not a contact allergy). I've been taking Wellbutrin for years (400mg a day) and I had some dizziness (vertigo) in the beginning but nothing like this. Is there some difference between the two that would cause this kind of reaction?

I am 32 yr old male who has battled mild depression off and on, that at it's worse causes me to basically not be able to function or focus, and spend the day in bed. I have taken Zoloft in the past, off and on, but then it seemed that it no longer has the same affect it first did (maybe because it got switched to generic since the first time) and so after stopping it in December '08, and after a recent very bad spell of depression recently, my doctor and I decided I should try something new. He prescribed Effexor, but before I could begin taking it, my insurance company got in the way and balked at it. So he was now forced to change that prescription to BUPROPION SR, the generic form of Wellbutrin at 150mg. (which btw, is still pretty expensive for me)
After reading these complaints of side-affects, I'm not sure I should be starting this medication at all. Effexor seemed to have very few side affects, and now it is my insurance company that is telling my doctor that he cannot prescribe it. Instead, it looks like I'm going to be forced to take a pill that's going to make me bald and itchy. I had no side-affects with Zoloft so I don't want to start risking my health, even if it means being in this cloud of depression every once in a while.
For anyone who is against universal (government run) health care because they're worried about a "bureaucracy" getting between them and their doctor, don't worry, because there's already a big greedy one there as it is now.
Is there anyone out there with a positive story about taking Wellbutrin, specifically the generic BUPROPION SR tablet?
