I've been on Advair for 12 years.I'm 27 years old and fed up with all this medications that doctors prescribe. We are so brainwashed into thinking that we misbehave if we don't see a doctor.Let me tell you what: The majority of the doctors, only know to prescribe medication. They get bonuses from the pharma industries every time they prescribe their "new discovered"medicine.
Advair is supposed to be preventive, what you don't know it's for how long.Exactly!!!.....'cause it's not meant to cure Asthma, it's meant to keep you hooked for the rest of your life.
My worse symptom is a very fast heart beating.I'm a martial artist and every time i exert a fast burst of energy(while i'm sparring for example), my heart goes into pumped up mode.It beats very, very fast and i have to stop because it hurts.Sometimes i keep going no matter what and feel like i'm exercising for two people. When i stop, i breath very deeply for 5 minutes and all of a sudden it stops and beats regularly.
It's not fun, and one more thing: I'm from Argentina and my mom sends me the medicine from there cause it's way cheaper, sometimes i run out(i procrastinate sometimes), i'm left off with no medicine for a few days and boy.....I'm a wreck. The time you stop you go right back to where you started.I've been researching about an alternative to this "S***".I'm afraid 'cause i don't want to feel discomfort with my lungs anymore, but i strongly believe that there should be a natural alternative to all this laboratory drugs and i'm on a mission to find it.

I am 21 and have been on birth control since I was 10 to help keep my periods regular. I have to say that this is one is not so great, it's horrible. This is my fourth pack of this pills, at first I thought the emotional out burst and mood swings would go away. I thought wrong they got worse and I have even more. I have taken two pregnancy tests because I feel as if I am pregnant but nope just the pills. My breasts are sore, I am almost always sick to my stomach, head aches, my period is still irregular and they said it would get better, i am producing extra vaginal fluid, my boyfriend constantly asks "why do you seem weird" "what's wrong" well I feel weird I am an emotional mess. Now that I see a lot of other ladies out there have the same issues I do I can tell my boyfriend what is wrong are these pills they suck. This is one med. that is chalk full of side effects. And to be honest I didn't get on birth control to question if I am pregnant or not or to go and blow money on tests that aren't cheap. That's and good luck to every one

Hi I got the mirena April 16th 09, I had heavy bleeding for the first month then light bleeding for another month then it stopped! I found my moods eased a little bit and I wasn't so angry all the time. It's now late July, I have started having constant headaches, cramping and the worst symptoms of getting your period it felt like labor with pain down my leg and back ache, I also felt nausea. I was worried I might have ectopic pregnancy so I rang gyny on a Saturday ($200) to check it out and found I had a burst cyst (from mirena) but he didn't tell me that. Then I have been having pain in chest and feeling stressed more often this doctor called me a hypocondriac in little words. I think it's the mirena cause I have never felt like this before.
oh and my sex drive has virtually disappeared. other than that, if you don't want kids than get one thats all it's good for!

I'm on week 3 of 150 mg of Wellbutrin.I switched to it from Effexor, which caused me to gain 40 pounds. The first week on Wellb I noticed increased energy, trouble staying asleep at night, mood improvement. Now in week 3, the sleep has improved, I've managed to quit smoking (works great for this), and I lost 5 pounds. On the downside, frequent urination, some stomach issues, mild headachey feeling, sensitivity to light, feeling overheated sometimes, and some return of depressive symptoms after initial burst of energy and motivation. What scares me the most though is reading about all the reports of hair loss on here. I have fine hair to begin with ad there is no way I can endure this side effect. So far I haven't noticed that effect, but I'm considering ditching this drug if that is a serous risk. From reading all the reports I'm wondering if there are more reports of hair loss from people on 300 mg or more than from people on 150 mg??

I am 40 and done having kids. I had the Mirena put in in Jan 2008 to help with heavy periods. Within 3 months I started to feel numbness in my left arm. It would come and go over the next couple of months. Then the numbness and burning spread to my left breast. I developed a breast lump in Nov.08 which was determined to be thickening of the breast tissue (through mammogram and ultrasound) The breast continued to be very sensitive and the arm pain became worse. In March Through a pelvic ultrasound 2 "tumors" were discovered on my left ovary. The doctor wanted to remove only the ovary. Once in the operating room he decided to do a complete hysterectomy. The tumor was a benign blood fill cyst witch burst and also endometriosis was bad enough to remove everything including the Mirena!! Its been two months now and the numbness and burning are still there! I am going to a neurologist to see what is going on. I always felt like the Mirena had something to do with all of this. Maybe I have irreversible nerve damage?

OMG! I had Mirena put in Nov. 2007. Recently I had pain enough and spotting right after my period. I went in and during the exam my new ob said she could not feel or see it! I had a ultrasound which showed a cyst on my ovary that burst causing the pain but NO MIRENA! on May 4th. The OB said that I must have past it and she could not do anything until I started again. I started and contacted my previous OB (who put it in) and the nurse was stunned! She said they just don't fall out. I had an xray today and we found it......in my stomach lining! The OB isn't worried that about it but everyone I talk to wonders how it will keep from moving on around! The nurse said it would take major surgery now to remove the Mirena from my stomach. How does this go through the uterus lining? Are there holes in my uterus and stomach? How could this not be concerning to my previous OB? I have called the 888# on the back of the Mirena brochure and reported adverse side effects that the operator highly suggested to surgically remove the Mirena. I asked if they would pay for the removal but she gave no response. Of course with tough times we don't have the money for such a surgery but my husband and I are worried about further complications this may create. After reading many of these I know now where my mood swings and irritations come from-my poor husband, 8 yr old and 1 1/2 yr old!

I suffer from gout... this was the first time I took Prednisone, and, in terms of foot swelling / pain , it worked well.

However... 20-30 minutes after taking 20mg of prednisone, I experienced eye problems. I began seeing "floaters." I experienced significant eye "pressure?" for 24 hours. 48 hours later the pain went away. It's difficult to explain. I'm not a doctor. My eyes felt "big." "Intra-ocular eye pressure" might be the correct term.

I don't know how to explain it... it really messed with my eyes. Neither my doctor nor my pharmacist could confirm this as a side effect.

Has anyone experienced this? Thank you.

I just got a root canal because my tooth is "dying" and it was causing severe pain throughout the whole right side of my face, head, and ear. I asked the Ortho not to give me Percocet or Vicodin because I get nauseous / puke profusely. I took an Ultracet and luckily I only felt a twinge of nausea... just on the brink of nauseous but I could live with it. It also made me feel really dopey and high. I liked the feeling because I had been days of severe pain and finally it was gone after the numbing from the dentist and the Ultracet... However, when I took one just before bed (4 hrs after 1st dose) I did get nauseous. I also felt twitchy and restless. My mom takes Ultram religiously for her headaches, and takes two at a time... I don't know how she does it. She is dependent on them. I went to work today and took one because my face started pulsing again. It was interesting because I didn't get nauseous and I felt more productive. I did get dopey for about 45 minutes but it went away and the pain stayed gone well after that. So in my short experience with this drug, I've noticed the side effects aren't as bad during the day (maybe because I'm moving around more and not concentrating on them). I've also noticed that if taken during the day I got a little bit of an energy burst after the 45 minute dopey phase passed. Now it's night time again and my face hurts again, so instead of taking a full pill, I broke it in half (Verified with pharmacist that it's okay), and took an 800mg ibuprofen. Hopefully, I won't get sick and I'll sleep through the night without a pounding face alarm clock.

I just wish I could wear a sign that says: I'm sorry about the last 3 years. I have an excuse why I was a complaining bitch.

UPDATE:
I had mine removed 5 days ago. After 12 hours, I had a burst of energy... was still really achy, but mentally ecstatic.
The next day was not so good... the high was over, (and I was coming down with a cold), so very achy joints. I ate a lot of chocolate!
3rd day was so-so. I was in control of my emotions, but really achy. I found an old Rx for Toradol that worked well. Ate more chocolate.
Yesterday I felt fantastic, and today even better. I have had no cravings. My aches are 90% gone, without drugs, and I have not had any depression, anger, or feelings of despair. In fact, I found myself singing some goofy song from Dora The Explorer today, and my son looked at me really strangely and started giggling. I think I'm back!

I am so glad that I found this site and to see that there are other women out there who are having problems with the Mirena. I thought it was just all in my mind! I had the Mirena inserted in February 2008. Started having problems with high BP when pregnant with first baby and when I went back on pill after his birth BP wasn't doing any better. After having my second child, I contemplated about Mirena vs. having tubes tied. My OB said the Mirena was the perfect thing for me and was pretty much like tubal ligation, but without the surgery. I had no problems when Mirena was inserted..just bleeding (seemed like forever for me to stop bleeding) and the normal dizziness. For the first three months, I never knew when my period was going to be, but I just kept remembering what my OB said "your periods will be like nothing after the first three months." My periods did get a little better...however not the "light" or spotting periods. After the first three months, I started noticing that my hair was starting to fall out more but thought it was part of postpartum. I started feeling really tired, skin started to break out, felt depressed, my mind was racing, couldn't sleep, had problems remembering things (simple things), migraines got worse and more frequent than what they used to be before, moody, agitated, had chest pains, nausea in the morning (at one point I thought I was pregnant again!), stomach pains, diarrhea/constipation, kept having vaginal discharge (like when you are pregnant), came down with bacterial vaginosis, UTI's were somewhat common,no sexual desire and my BP was out of control. Seven months after having Mirena inserted, I started having sharp pains near right ovary. I had problems with cysts in right ovary before and had them removed so when the pains started, I had a hunch that most likely it was another cyst. My OB closed her practice so when I went to new OB for annual pap, I mentioned all the things I was experiencing including suspicion of cyst. I told her I had been experiencing all symtoms since Mirena was put in. She told me that she has never heard of the Mirena to cause symptoms like these. Told me that perhaps I was still having effects of postpartum and that my body was trying to get "back to normal" and get used to Mirena. Had all these blood test done and everything came back normal. I did have a cyst on right ovary and was told that it should go away within 2 months. Just had a follow-up ultrasound today (2 months later) and cyst is still there along with other cysts on right AND NOW left ovary. Most of the time, I am in a lot of pain especially on the right side. I was told to just take Motrin for the pain, but that nor heat packs work at all. I am really considering to have the Mirena taken out. I REALLY believe that the Mirena is the cause of my cysts. Is there anyone out there who have gotten cysts while with the Mirena? And has anyone experienced having no problems with cysts after the Mirena was taken out? Since finding out that I have multiple cysts on both sides and knowing that my doctor will probably tell me they will eventually go away on their own (first one is less than 2cm and others are smaller), I don't know if it is even worth keeping the Mirena in. I hate having all these symptoms...I just want to be "normal" again. BUT, IT IS VERY COMFORTING TO KNOW THAT THERE ARE OTHERS WHO ARE OR HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME. Now I can tell myself that it is not all in my mind and I am not going crazy!

I took aciphex for 16 months, ran out of prescription Thursday, and haven't felt this good for long time. I thought my weight gain and constant headache was
due to getting older. I had such a energy burst today that makes me believe it was Aciphex that made me the couch potato day and night. tiredness was brutal and when I was at NY last week I could not go up to stairs at Subway without having to stop and get my breathing in order not to mention being able to hear your own heart beat is little scary. Also I had severe leg pains on both sides-kind of rotating cramps and pinching, especially on my hamstrings.

Hi my name is N. and I'm 18 I had a beautiful baby girl back in June of 07 and had my mirena put in about 6 weeks later and I hardly had any periods and once in a while I would have what I thought was a period but it would be like a brownish color and only for a few days at a time and before I got pregnant I was rarely moody and my family constantly told me I was like an angle when I was pregnant because I was so happy and maybe within the past 3-4 months I have been the queen of the bitches pardon my French and I will get so angry over the littlest things and I even noticed a huge drop in my sex drive I mean before me and my boyfriend would do it almost every day and now we can go over a month without even the thought of sex and within this past month i gave had a huge burst with acne and i would never have more than one or two pimples at a time before i was pregnant and i haven't had weight gain im actually very thin im actually smaller than before i was pregnant and I was wondering if. this might because of my mirena and if it is should I take it out and if I do what would be a good type of birth control because I don't have the financial situation to get pregnant right away.

My son is 7 years old and was put on singulair for his asthma and allergies, my daughter who is 10, had been on it for over 2 years.
My son started experiencing, night terrors, out burst of crying, difficult to make decisions.
Anxiety attacks, panic attacks, did not want to go to school. After seeing his Doctor it was suggested that we pull him off the medicine. We started noticing changes within a few weeks. Please watch your child closely if on this drug. My daughter did not have side effects however we have taken her off this medicine also.
I would really be careful with this drug. Our family was in complete terror, watching your child struggling like this. USE CAUTION, IF YOU DECIDE TO TAKE THIS MEDICINE....

Hi! I am 29 years old and have had asthma since i was young. As i entered high school i had very rare exacerbations but around 4 years back attacks became more frequent. I visited my doctor and he advised me 40mg of Prednisone a day for 5 days (20mg in the morning and 20mg at night). He mentioned that this was safe and no tapering was needed for this short burst. So every time i start having exacerbations i just follow this regimen. I have had no tapering or withdrawal symptoms and i can breath very well even after the Prednisone is off.

Recently, i had an exacerbation as the New Year started. So i started my regimen again on Jan1. But after 5 days, my symptoms were not relieved yet. It seemed like my asthma, triggered by an acute bout of Bronchitis, was worse than before. So i continued this regimen until 12 days. I was taught before that as taking Prednisone approached 2 weeks, it would be wise to taper. So on day 13 - 15, i took 30mg of Prednisone per day (15mg in AM, 15mg in PM). On day 16 - 18, 20 mg per day (10mg in AM, 10mg in PM). On day 19 - 21, 10mg per day (5mg in AM and 5mg in PM). On the 22nd day, i had 5mg once a day only. The next day, i woke up very drowsy, with muscle and joint pains, dizzy and light headed. But i just fought it and went on my day feeling sooo out of it. And at night, i just felt chest tightness. I again had difficulty of breathing unrelieved by around 3 puffs of my inhaler (which was a combination of a long acting bronchodilator and an inhaled corticosteroid) which was also good for acute events of asthma. This provided no relief until i took a total of 15mg of Prednisone again. The next morning, on day24, i felt better. I tool 10mg thinking i could maintain myself on 20mg a day. But as the day progressed, as still had these joint pains and wheezes and difficulty of breathing. So a night i took 20mg again. I started reading on Prednisone and tapering and noted that these symptoms might have been an adrenal crisis, I haven't consulted my physician yet. But am trying to taper myself off decreasing my dose 5mg every 3 days. I hope i can get back when i learn more.

I hope this helped people in some way. Stay healthy everyone!

I originally posted about my 9 year old son on January 5th. Refer back to this for the symptoms. He had his upper and lower endoscopies on the 12th, and the lower showed numerous ulcers in the large intestine and at the beginning of the small intestine. The doctor insists that it has to be Crohn's disease based on just this and the blood work, which showed eosinophilia and elevated sedimentation. He is insistent that this has nothing to do with the Singulair and the dosage change. It's just a coincidence .... He' in the hospital for a week now. Watch for those stomach complaints! His started with poor appetite, complaining that he was full when he had hardly eaten, and vague complaints about eating giving him a stomach ache. It progressed to occasional diarrhea. It got worse quickly after that, just a few weeks.

On September 9th, 2008, I had the mirena inserted and it was horrible. My right ovary felt like it had exploded and a burst of burning pain radiated down my leg. I broke out into a sweat, felt dizzy, and nauseated. The doctor said they never had that reaction before and had me lay down until I felt better. The doctor wanted to do an ultrasound, right then, but the doctors that did the ultrasounds were not available, so she gave me a Motrin and told me to go to the emergency room if I had severe pain or bleeding. She sent me home. This THING is constantly on my mind since I had it put in. I hate it!! I am tired all the time, headaches, bloating, dry eyes, back pain, hair loss, constant feeling of being in a fog, cramps everyday, and the burning pain I experienced during insertion comes back more and more frequently. My ovary and leg hurt me so bad that I feel like I'm going to pass out. Two weeks after insertion I went in to have the strings trimmed and let the doctor know my symptoms-she looked puzzled and made me feel like I was crazy, but suggested that we have an ultrasound done, so she scheduled me an appointment for it-two weeks later. I had a follow up with the doctor one week after that and she said everything looked fine and to take ibuprofen for the pain. I went back three weeks later to have my strings trimmed-again. She was amazed that they seemed longer than they were the first time she trimmed them. She said that it was either "settling" lower, or it was falling out. She did an internal exam, but did not feel it, so she suggested that I at least give it another month before I consider taking it out. I agreed because I paid a lot of money for it and my options are limited. Since my last visit, I've been researching mirena a bit and was surprised to hear that so many women have been experiencing these side effects. I plan on having the mirena removed, but have been researching tubal ligation as my next step. Then I ran into something called tubal ligation syndrome, which has side effects that I am currently experiencing. I talked to my boyfriend about all of this last night and he has agreed to have a vasectomy. The bad thing about that is I have to wait for him to have it done and wait until his sperm count is at zero. That could take a month or more! The good thing is that I won't have to think or worry about getting pregnant anymore and I won't have some foreign piece of hormonal plastic in my body any longer. I will never recommend the mirena to anyone-ever!

Extreme Weakness, extreme excessive sweating, nausea, dizziness, itching, terrible headaches. In addition, I seemed to have contacted a moderate case of the flu. At least I had what seemed like the flu. However it is possible that it was just more of the same from the prednisone. My doctor gave me prednisone for a pinched nerve in my neck and a herniated disk in the same #7vertebrea. He gave me 12 days. As soon as I started taking it, I began to feel very weak, I had headaches, terrible exploding headaches. I found that I began to itch on my arm for no apparent reason, except for a bracelet in the area.In addition, I began to have excessive sweating, extreme sweating, the water would be pouring down my face. At that time, I would feel my heart pounding have some dizziness, and just overall bad feeling. It was debilitating, I spent a lot of time on the couch because I could not function in my daily activities. I went from exercising for 90 minutes to barely being able to get through 15 minutes. My question is will I go back to "normal" when this medicine gets out of my system. What is the half life of this drug? Should I do a detox of some sort. Worst of all, the problem with my neck has not really resolved and I will probably need some other sort of intervention. I never got that burst of energy that other people experienced with this medication.

I was prescribed prednisone (prednisone burst) for my endolymphatic hydrops (inner ear disorder). My initial dose was 80 mg for 4 days and then tapered down over the next 2 weeks. I took my last 5 mg today. I to have experienced the mood swings, along with extra energy, anxiety, fatigue, stiff neck muscles, sore leg muscles, weak leg muscles, nausea, sweaty palms and feet. I decided to go on prednisone after my doctor said it would help rule out autoimmune disease. I will never go on this drug again unless it is life threatening situation. It is a very nasty drug and my family has had to live with me during this difficult time. I'm leaving my condition up to the Great Physician!

We are looking for people who can participate in a documentary film to be shot in Los Angeles which focuses on the apparent adverse effects of Levaquin. Specifically, we are looking for people who have experienced cartilage damage or burst and ruptured tendons as a result of using Levaquin. It is especially useful if you have a doctor's opinion that the damage was caused by Levaquin. If you or someone you know would be interested in taking part in this film which will shoot in Los Angeles in mid-June 2008 please email us at ******

I just returned from the ER with my 8 year old daughter who was put on Singulair again. She initially took it for about 1 year about a year ago or so. Her pediatrician felt the current cough and stuffy nose was due to allergies, I insisted yes, but also causing her asthma to flare and said that in the past the Singulair did not stop the progression of the symptoms into a full blown multi medicine needed to control her asthma occurrence and perhaps we should use Proventil and Advair to get her back on track. Now after 5 days of Singulair she is on oral steroids, Proventil Inhaler and possible has pneumonia and she has HIVES all over her body! The ER doctor said not use the Singulair and in 2 days I could start the antibiotics if she is still coughing and has fever, Oh yes, I forgot to say the past 2 nights she has had a low grade fever 100-101.2 degrees.
I think MD's are to quick to push a drug they think is safe and newer instead of using good old fashion time proven remedies like Proventil and a short burst of oral steroids.

hi, Finished a 6 day pack of Prednisone and am so very tired. I feel a bit sick and have hot/cold flashes. More than the normal for my age. I do not feel energetic. I don't know if it is the winter and gray sky doing it to me, but I don't think so. I feel so blah. Could this be from the Prednisone?
Thank you in advance for your help.

Struggling with a sinus infection that threatened to bore into my brain, resulting, ultimately, in seizures and death, I've been taking Levaquin now for three days. I'm experiencing anxiety and sleeplessness, however, it's not from the medication. It's from all the hyperbole on the internet.

Look, I understand that many have had adverse reactions to this medication. One dose of penicillin can kill you without warning. At anytime. No warning. I suspect that few of those labellings Levaquin "poison" would ever bother to consider that - or anything else. All wrapped up in your misery, you spout off with rhetoric that is really better left to lawyers and politicians.

If you were uninformed of the possible side-effects of this medication, blame your doctor. I see that the last post here is dated November 2007, and the bottom of this first page takes us to October 2006. Perhaps one could take a bit of responsibility for oneself and do some research on one's own before popping a pill handed out by a disinterested physician. This information is out there - and yes, your doctor could have seen it, too. But he didn't bother, did he? Neither did you.

So, yes, with my first dose, and despite the impact drill driving through my eye-socket, I waited for the seizures, swelling and signs of imminent demise. Nothing. Sorry. Oh, my sinuses feel better, I don't have a brain infection, and so I won't die frothing at the mouth on my living room floor.

I'm sorry you feel bad - and if you hadn't run off at the mouth calling what may be one of the last effective antibiotics "poison", I might mean that with some sincerity. Oh, and lest you forget, antibiotics are poison by definition - the idea being that they affect/poison/kill the source more than they do the host.

So let's stop the hyperbole, and simply say you had a bad reaction to this medication. Not everyone does. Your option might have been to skip the doctor and the meds altogether, and see how you'd fare. But that would leave the responsibility, and the blame, all on you, then, wouldn't it? Far better to spread it around some.
