I took Avelox five years ago to clear up an sinus infection that kept coming back every 2-3 weeks. I was prescribed regular antibiotics each time, it would go away, and then come right back. To get rid of it for good, my doctor prescribed me 400mg of Avelox, one per day for five days. It totally wiped out the infection and it never came back. Awesome, right?
Unfortunately it also destroyed most of the bacteria in my stomach leading to a bad case of c.diff for 2 weeks and permanent lactose intolerance.
It did exactly what I needed, but the price was very high indeed. Though my health has been better since then, I still get sick 2-3 times a year. The duration lasts longer than for most people, but I don't care. I do not take antibiotics anymore. If I ever do, it will need to be a life threatening condition.

I was prescribed this drug for C-Diff.
This is my 2nd time taking this drug for the C-Diff.
It absolutely makes me so miserable,
physically and mentally.
I feel bad all over.
It's hard to describe, you feel like
you're going to die or something.
I have an extremely bad headache.
My shoulders and hands hurt.
I ache and feel weak.

In April 2006, I began urinating blood every time I did something strenuous. After seeing many specialists and receiving CT scans and Ultrasounds on abdominal area and testicals my Dr. wrote the symptoms off as a urinary tract infection. He prescribed Cipro, I took the drug for 2.5 days and have not been the same since(was supposed to take the drug for ten days). Now December, I have had severe gut-wrenching pain in my left side, stomach and back. This pain is that of passing kidney stones every day, still peeing blood and waking up with so much pain that I can barely move. I was very much into weightlifting, now I can barely lift my kids, (55, 40 and 35 lbs.) I have had every test known to man and the Dr.'s have no idea what is wrong with me. Just coincidence that this all started after taking Cipro? I have no choice after reading the testimonies on this drug, that this has added to the health problems in my own life. I too will tell all my Dr.'s from this point on that I'm allergic to Cipro and Levaquin. Do yourself a favor and stop taking this drug before you have similar or worse health issues.

I was prescribed Cipro several months ago and took it for 6 days, when I began having stomach problems. I felt as if someone had kicked me in the stomach--no acute pain, but slightly nauseous. Doctor told me to stop Cipro, but I am still having the problem. I am fairly certain it can't possibly still be from the Cipro, but is that possible?
I would like to feel good again.
Thank you

Hi,
-- By jeffreyscott | Reply | Private Message meBack in May of 2008 my it was alleged by doctors that my mother needed to have her gallbladder removed. During the surgery, she was given Diprivan 200MG AMP, and Fentanyl 5ML vial. Since the surgery, she is yet to recover. After seeing many local doctors and surgeons, we decided to go to UNC Chapel Hill, where the doctors there cannot even tell her what is wrong. She has since (the surgery) also developed C-diff. She has had her medical records released an I'm trying to take this into my own hands as I'm tired of seeing her literally get sicker and sicker. Here's my question: Is it possible for these side effects to last over this long period of time, from just having a 5 ML vial of Fentanyl? The reason I ask is because every above listed symptom that people have had after using the medication, is what she goes through on a daily basis. Here is a small list of her daily symptoms: flue like symptoms, hot flashes, constant fatigue, sometimes diarrhea, sometimes vomiting, slurring of some words, disfunction in her language ability -- sometimes she cannot read a sentence clear on her first attempt. EXTREME short term memory loss, physical instability, as well as weakness in her body. I've researched side effects of this medication and those are all listed, and I've seen more lists above. Is it possible for her to be having long-term adverse side effects from this medication? Is it possible for her C-diff to be related to the medication? If anyone could help with anything I could greatly appreciate it. While this is risky, I'm going to put my personal email because I just need immediate help and advice from anyone, and I check my email ample amounts of time throughout the day. So, please email me if you have any suggestions. ******
