I had been off Yasmine for almost 3 months and am feeling way better. I started Yasmine in Jan.2006. All was well for 3 mos, then I noticed over that summer my periods were heavier and longer and very clotty. Brown to black to start. And they lasted like 6-8 days!! Then in Aug 06 i had a migraine for 3 days! Then Sept. and again in Oct. Also, I started suffering panic attacks, i would get dizzy and frantic and my heart would race, I was moody and depressed and ended up on anti deppressants and antixiolitcs. My hands would tingle like i wasnt getting blood pumped there. I saw a psych doctor & she said it wasnt the pill I explained that this all heightened during my second week of active pills. Nope not that. My gyn said so too. I swore to him that I thought that this pill was giving me too much hormone and effecting my whole balance and equilibrium of my body... well i started a diary and found I was gettin a migraine the Thursday before my period and the migraine was gone Sunday on my start day. And My panic attacks and anxiety did get worse after 9 days of my new pack. And there was no reason or extra extra stressors at that time happening. It was incapacitating! I had to call in sick, missed college classes and then this pass April 07 lost my job from calling out once a month. At any rate I requested from my GYN to take me off the Yasmine. That was the middle of My . I have iregular periods again but NO MIGRAINES, NO OVER EATING, NO CRAMPS, and my flow is way lighter and not as long. In addition, I no longer suffer from full blown panic attacks, just some extra jitteriness here and there like hmm when i should, during a normal crisis. I had an awful experience with this pill, and would not wish it's side effects on my worst enemy!

I have been taking Doxcycline for my acne for less than a week and today, an hour after swallowing the pill with a sip of water and no food in my stomach I felt naseauted and dizzy to the point where i could not stand up. Five minutes later I vomitted and had to call in sick. I am wondering if it is worth it. I don't want to fear taking this pill everyday, but want to get rid of my acne. The side effects should be written on the side of the prescription, but they are not. I am skeptical about this drug.

I'm a 28yo male. my over all cholesterol was elevated at 248. I am a very healthy person otherwise, and active. My HDL chol is very good. My Dr. had me try to lower my chol by diet and excersise at first for a little over a year, but didn't work. About two months ago he decided to put me on Zocor 10mg. The day i started taking it I felt very tired, weak, very dazed. I told my Dr. and he said it was a likely side effect and to keep taking it. After a week I was still feeling bad to the point where I had to call in sick to work. My Dr. finally told me to stop taking the Zocor and come in to the lab to get my blood drawn. A few days later my results showed that my liver and muscle enzymes were way elevated. My Dr. called me and said to drink copious amounts of water to flush out my system. After about a week of still feeling terrible my liver and muscle enzymes were back down to normal range. That was almost two months ago and still feel terrible. I've been very fatigued, muscle weakness, muscle spasms all over my body, dizziness, very sharp headches, stiff neck, but mostly pressure in my head and in my ears which cause them to pop and ring. My back even got really stiff and sore for a couple of weeks. I've been in such a daze. After 8 hours of sleep when I wake up in the morning, I feel like I've only had about two hours. I've been back and forth to my Dr. many times over the past couple months, and he's started telling me that because of taking a low dose of Zocor for only a week, he doesn't think it was the statin that is making me feel like this and said it could be a virus, and has been drawing blood for lyme disease and mono etc., which have all came back normal. I believe this is ALL from the Zocor!! I think I have drug induced myositis. I am scheduled next week to see a Neurologist. Hopefully he can give me some answers. I hope my experiences can help one of you out there. Alot of Dr.'s out there aren't aware of how dangerous these statins really are!.

Hey-lo,
I have been on Yasmin for almost a month now, and the side-effects at the beginning were almost unbearable - dizziness, leg aches and moodiness, plus my skin, which was always acne-prone, broke out something fierce.
As the weeks wore on, all these seemed to subside somewhat. There's no more physical soreness and the dizzy spells are gone. Still a little on the mean side - hoping that will work itself out.
I am hoping, since you who frequent seem so kind, someone might respond to a rather... interesting if not disturbing side-effect I've noticed since starting my period. This is my first menstration since going on the pill, so I can only assume it's related... my menstral blood has an extremely strong, extremely unpleasant odor. It's almost fish-like. Really, it's disgusting and I'm a little worried about it. Has anyone had a similar change?
Other than that, I must say that this period is a cause for celebration. Ever since I was twelve, my menstration has been painful - writhing in my bed, crying and screaming, the pain was so intense. It's kind of a given that I would call in sick to work/stay home from school one day out of the month (my "bad day"). But this month, on the day I usually would have been dead on the bed, I was up, I went to work, it all went smoothly. This is not to say I still didn't feel fatigued and irritable, but the fact that I was able to function was amazing.
I hope it's always like this.

The first time I started on Geodon was Sept of 2002 but stopped it shortly afterwards. I decided to take it again just starting last week for my schizophrenia symptoms. My doctor had me start on 40mg and she said take it either at night or morning. I tried taking it at night the first time and I had to be at work the next morning making me wake up at 7:15am. I had a hard time waking up and by the time 8:00am rolled around (when I had to leave for work, it's a 30 minute drive to work), I had to call in sick because for the whole 45 minutes, I was barely awake and couldn't become alert. I went back to bed and got up like at 12 or 1pm in the afternoon. So I decided to try taking it after getting up in the morning. I took it at noon and by 3pm or so, I had to turn around and drive back home (I was going to get my car checked on). The tiredness and sleepiness came on strong and fast. I slept for 3 hours and went to bed at 8pm. So now I'm on 20mg at night. Little drowsy for the first 1 hour in my morning class until we get break time. And I've started to notice my eyesight blurs and goes unfocused. When I first started back in Sept 2002, I missed my nightly doses a couple of times and even though I was sleepy, I could not fall asleep. Then about 1 or 2 in the morning, I'd have these out-right hallucinations (ones like I've never experienced from my schizophrenia before- much worse).

I have had some of the same symptoms described above, but they seem to have increased since I went off just days ago. I'm hoping they decrease in the next few weeks. I'm just so happy to be off of them, and I'm hopeful that my normal figure and state of mind will return. The last year and a half has been an emotional roller coaster.
Right now, three days off of the pill, I am so bloated it is painful. I know it's not constipation since that is happening regularly. What doesn't happen after "elimination" is relief. I am having constant abdominal cramping and bloating. It's awful...I have gained four pounds in as many days which is WAY more than I'm usually capable of.
The very first day off of the pill I had to call in sick to work with throwing up and other fun stuff. I thought at first that it was a 24 hour bug...but now I don't know.
Why do women get bullied into taking these products? It's been 40 years now and the best we still have is the pill? I'm going to take my chances I think with my natural mood swings and pregnancy.
