I am 29 years old and I have been using NR for almost a year already. although I got through mood swings all the time, now that I think back over the last year or so, I have been acting especially crazy. I am never calm, irritated by everything and everyone, break up with my boyfriend at least 1ce a week, cry a few times a week. Only after reading these posts did I start realizing that maybe its due to NR? I started taking Valerian pills to calm me down, but I became emotionless. I cant be happy for anyone, want to be alone, and not go out. I thought this was all due to stress at work, but now I'm beginning to think otherwise. I took out the ring for good about 3 weeks ago and as soon as few days later have noticed that my breasts are VERY tender, so tender that it hurts to wear a bra. My nipples are HUGE and hurt so bad, this got me scared -thinking that I may be pregnant, but I have been very careful after taking out the ring. Has anyone else noticed this after removing the ring for good?

Alright, well one time i was on the run from probation and needed something to calm me down. So i looked threw my fathers cabinet and found a bottle with some labes that said,"Do not operate motor vehicles...may cause drowsiness..", the mediaction, meprozine. So i took three out the bottle, popped one, then realized that these little capsules could broken up. So i broke up the next two, lined them up, and snorted. It felt like the right side of my brain was on fire, my face started tearing up, and i felt like i had just snorted a gram of pure salt. But an hour later i was sitting in my chair, nodding out, i was dulision and seeing my friend and talking to him on the left of me, whom i might add, had left in the previous hours, down to houstin. I slept really well though, I give this drug a 4 out of 5 stars. Oh yeah one more thing, side effects...consist of a really tripping dream, and bad nose allergies.

I took this medication seven years ago. After a couple of days I broke out into hives. When the initial Hives went away I kept itching. Then, the itching began to spread all over my body. I have been turned away by many doctors who wished me luck and said they were sorry but they couldn't help me. Since then, I have become a science project for doctors. I have taken a number of medicines to calm me down and an assortment of creams and lotions. One spray that takes the itchy hives away for awhile is CLOBEX. It's very expensive. It costs me $250 a month (out of pocket). The only medicine that relieves the condition for about a week is prednisolone (another drug that's not so great for you). I now take that once a month for one week’s relief. Each night, I have to scold myself in the shower to relieve the itching for a few hours so I can go to sleep. I'm currently at a new Dermatology Clinic. Guess what they prescribed for me? CEPHALEXIN, the drug that caused the poor quality of my life I now have. Doesn't anyone listen to the patient? The only best medical friend I have is my Primary Care Physician who has greatly supported me all these years. I pray that someone may read this and I have an answer me.
If you have not yet taken CEPHALEXIN, think about it long and hard. It's not for everyone and MAY not be for ANYONE. If you've read this far in my note, I consider you a new friend.

Someone please help!!
Still Itching in New Jersey.

Re my post #14305 on Nov. 15, 2005: SAW MY PSYCHIATRIST RIGHT AWAY ABOUT ALL MY SIDE EFFECTS. SHE CHANGED MY LAMICTAL DOSAGE TIMES TO 100 MG IN THE PM AND 100 MG IN THE PM, NOT ALL AT ONCE, AND TOLD ME TO TAKE CLONAZEPAM .5 MG THREE TIMES A DAY TO CALM ME DOWN. THIS WORKED! ALMOST ALL SIDE EFFECTS ARE GONE! EXCEPT THAT I STILL WAKE MYSELF BY YELLING. SHE THINKS I AM HAVING VIVID DREAMS I DON'T REMEMBER AND THAT THIS IS CAUSING THE YELLING WHILE I'M ASLEEP. I AM HOPING IT WILL SUBSIDE. OTHERWISE, I FEEL ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL!!!!

FOR GOD'S SAKE, READ THE LITERATURE THAT COMES WITH LAMICTAL OR GET SOME LITERATURE FROM YOUR PHARMACIST IF YOU DON'T HAVE IT. THE RASHES SOME PEOPLE GET ARE REALLY TERRIBLY DANGEROUS AND SHOULD BE REPORTED TO THE DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY! THEY CAN BE FATAL! IF YOUR DOCTOR DISMISSES IT, FIND ANOTHER DOCTOR WHO KNOWS WHAT THEY ARE DOING AND GO IMMEDIATELY TO THE E.R. OR AN URGENT CARE CLINIC, AND MAKE SURE THE DR. YOU SEE KNOWS ABOUT LAMICTAL AND THE SIDE EFFECTS! THE MEDS SHOULD BE STOPPED IF YOU GET A RASH. NOT ACNE, BUT AN ACTUAL RASH, LIKE HIVES OR ANYTHING THAT APPEARS TO BE A RASH! BE SURE YOU SEE A DR. WHO KNOWS ALL ABOUT LAMICTAL OR WILL AT LEAST READ UP ON IT. I HAD ONE TRIP TO THE E.R. (BECAUSE MY DR. WAS NOT AVAILABLE AND HAD NO BACKUP) ABOUT TERRIBLE SEVERE SIDE EFFECTS OF LITHIUM I WAS ON AT THE TIME AND HE DIDN'T KNOW S--T ABOUT LITHIUM, I WAS TREATED TERRIBLE BY THE NURSES AND I JUST GOT UP AND WALKED OUT. THEY BILLED MEDICARE $958 FOR MY 2 MINUTES WITH THE DOCTOR. I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE HOSPITAL AND GOT NO RESPONSE WHATSOEVER. IF THIS EVER HAPPENS AGAIN, I WILL NOT GO TO THE E.R., BUT TO AN URGENT CARE CLINIC. EDUCATE YOURSELF! DON'T JUST HANG OUT THERE IN THE WIND, WONDERING....

I started Yasmin in January of this year and after finding this site and putting two and two together stopped taking Yasmin on the first of January. I know that when I stopped taking it, I so wanted to see a timeline from someone who had stopped as well. So here is mine hopefully it helps those that have had to struggle with this BCP.

When I was taking Yasmin at first I thought it was great and then month two rolled around and things changed. I had leg cramps, nausea, vomitting, I was dehydrated but constipated, I had to urinate every 15 min, and I cant tell you how many times I went to the doctor in those 5 months, whether it was because i was so severely dehydrated and needed and IV, to having serious panic attacks, anxety attacks, nausea, and so on. The last visit was to the Emergengy room when I had a mild stroke. I'm 23. I stopped taking the pill 2 days later. The first month was ok, i was no longer constipated, or urinating every 10 minutes. The vomitting stopped and the nausea stopped for the most part. The only thing that I wanted to end the most is the one thing that stayed with me. The anxiety. I wake up with it every morning. I am going on 4 months of being off the pill. I have heard that it takes the body 6 months to completely detox.

I am now seeing a therapist for the anxiety, one that will not just send me out the door with a prescription for some miricle pill. Through hypnotherapy i have learned breathing exercises that calm me down and put me in a deep relaxed state, and let me tell you it works wonders for the anxiety.
It is really easy, just lay down down somewhere where there are no distractions, like your bedroom. Close your eyes, breathe in for the count of 4 hold for the count of 4, breath out for the count of 4, hold for the count of 4 and repeat. It makes you focus on the counting of your breath and really works, i was amazed.

The water retention, vomitting, leg cramps, dehydration, irritability, all have gone away in the three months that I have been off this pill and my sex drive has returned. I will give an update when the anxiety leaves as well.

Reading the testimonials here about the side effects of Lupron made me relieved. I now feel I am not alone in suffering from these horrible side effects. I thought I was imagining things or making them up, as my doctor and nurse said that there should be no side effects at all.

My first injection was on Feb. 2005 and my last one (to last for three months) was on May. So starting today, the medicine should make its way out of my system, I hope.

The first few days after my first injection, I had horrible pain in my joints and bones, and I was extremely panicky. I thought I was losing my mind. My husband and mother found it hard to calm me down, and I missed several days of work.

Pain from my endometriosis and cysts did go away, but I still suffered from recurring urinary infections (which I've never had prior to the injection), hot flashes, dizziness, weird headaches, panic attacks, nausea, and several instances where I found it hard ot breathe and felt like fainting. And after reading this site, I realize my memory loss or inability to form sentences correctly sometimes is probably because of Lupron also.

My performance in my work has decreased since I've been on this medication. I have no desire anymore to please my husband. And sometimes I'd get really depressed or emotional for no reason at all.

Lupron has helped with the endo and cysts, but subsequently, I lost who I was before becoming ill. I don't want to say that it ruined my life, but since my first injection, my life has changed drastically, and not for the better.

My advice for those who will be treated with this drug, don't merely accept that there are no side effects and you'll be fine. Take a second opinion, do a lot of research.

The internet, from my experience, has been a lot more informative regarding my condition and treatment than many of the doctor's I've seen.

Kay, I completely understand your exhaustion over the time it takes to feel better after getting off Yasmin, but you need to TRUST that although you dont feel it, everyday is a day closer to being the 'old Kay'. It has now been 4 months for me and I am only really feeling like my old self now, you need to take one day at a time. By the sounds of it, you are currently either ovulating or pre-menstrual...you always feel worse around these times. I understand that knowing you will get better soon isnt always enough to make you feel better right now. The biggest thing is to TALK to your friends and family. They need to know exactly how you're feeling. Get them to read posts on this website. I'd also recommend you make an appointment to see a psychologist. This is not because anything is wrong with you, but as a result of taking Yasmin you are suffering side effects that you currently have no control over. I have been seeing a psychologist for the first time in my life over this whole experience and it has helped enormously. He reminded me that I need to stop being so hard on myself and that I am making gains....its' always good to have other people's views on our progress as it's often difficult for us to see.

I'd also recommend you cut out any caffiene, white sugar, white flour etc as it only makes you feel more on edge.

I found meditation helpful as it helped calm me down.

You need to know that you're not alone. All Yasmin Survivors out there are sharing your pain, and we all have brighter times ahead!!!

after three months of no side effects I suddenly began to feel my skin crawl, could not sit still, began shaking my foot, pacing, slight rocking, impatient attitude. I found out this was called "akathisia" . I began to smoke pot to calm me down as I was not able to contact my docter and that helped the growing depression and anxiety about the way my body was all of a sudden reacting. after 1 1/2 weeks it went away. I had decreased the amount I was taking from 60 mg day to 40 mg. maybe that's why it went away. the nervousness has dissapeared but now I am depressed and am going to ride it out because overall-geodone has been good. if it happens again I will ask my docter for something like valium .

I am 32 years old and I've been on Yasmin for a little over two years. My doctor recommended this bill because of my irregular periods and horrible PMS symptoms (bloating, cramps, headaches, etc.). Initially, I was very pleased as Yasmin helped to regulate my periods and alleviate my PMS symptoms. After about 6 months, my periods because slightly less regular - not quite as irregular as before - but I was no longer getting them every 4th Sunday as I was when I first started taking Yasmin. I also noticed that I started experiencing some PMS symptoms again.

What I don't like about Yasmin is the toll that it seems to be taking on me both emotionally and physicially. The following are some of the symptoms I've been experiencing, which seem to be getting worse:

- Extreme mood swings (happy one minute, crying hysterically the next)
- Irritability
- Low self-esteem
- Headaches
- Heart palpitations
- Dizziness
- Lightheadedness
- Difficulty concentrating
- Insomnia
- Constantly fatigued, even when I do manage to get a decent night's sleep
- On edge all the time

I've experienced minor depression in the past and have been stressed out at work, but these mood swings are starting to scare me. The other night I got lost while driving to a co-worker's party and became so hysterical thinking my life was awful and that no one would care if I died that I had to just turn around and go home, where I called my brother who managed to calm me down. This isn't the first time I've been crying hysterically and thinking irrationally and just didn't quite feel like myself. I mentioned this to a friend who said she had to stop taking Yasmin because it was making her "psychotic".

I love the good things about this pill - more regular periods and less trouble with PMS - but I can't deal with the mood swings. Also, the irritability and inability to concentrate are affecting me at work. My job is very challenging and requires me to deal with other people throughout the day and to always be able to think on my feet, so I can't be ready to snap at people all the time and I need to be able to focus. I'm going to try going off this pill for a while and see if it helps at all. If not, I don't know what else to do.

I started Levaquin 3 days ago and have been suffering from headaches, fatigue, nausea, sleeplesness, severe changes in body temperatue, muscle pain and serious anxiety problems. I have a UTI and get them chronically and unfortunately cannot stomach bactrum or cipro. After reading this web site I called my doctor and requested klonopin an anti-anxiety medication i took for a year just for the first five days of treatment. She offered to change the antibiotic but said using all different kinds might leave me in worse shape with the infection than I started with. Since I get them chronically and will be starting a prophylactic when I'm done I want to make sure this infection is gone, I get them every 60 days. If you can stomach another antibiotic and have a choice definitely get something else. I'm hoping the klonopin will calm me down.
