My doctor put me on Neurontin for nerve damage to my foot related to heel spur surgery. I started taking it on the 17th of this month with it having no effect on the pain (I was only taking one dose a day at 300 mg). He has since upped me to 300 mgs twice a day. I am now having problems with bladder control, infrequent headaches, sleeplessness, inability to climax and horrible bloating and gas. If I hadn't been on other pain meds for the past 8 months, I would stop taking it. Any suggestions?

I just read all the posts on this site and was wishing there was an answer after each one from someone who knows. I had a thyroidectomy a year ago and have had several things. The pop up rashes only lasted a few weeks and my sister-in-law had them too only lasting a few weeks when she started on another thyroid medecine. My psoriasis that I had didn't get worse but I got it on my face and had never had that before. I didn't get medecine for 10 days and I don't think that was a good idea. I got stiffness in a couple fingers which has gotten better now. Another lady I know didn't get medecine for 30 days and got carpel tunnel. I can't imagine why she didn't go into a coma by then. My gripe is that my tongue swells so that my teeth make it sore and especially when I lay down to go to sleep. I am so confused on the numbers and levels cuz when it looked like the levels were low, the Dr. put me on 125 instead of 137. I guess it goes backwards from what you would think. I was too tired on that level and my periods were screwed up and my tongue was too swollen so I cut up pills to bring myself back up to 137. I am alright for someone with a mild schedule but I take too many naps and can doze in a very interesting bible study or lay down on the couch and visit a friend and fall asleep on them and feel like a dork. I would appreciate any input from any of you. I do think there must be a lot of people happy on this drug because us who arent are the ones who would find a site like this so if you are new and reading this. Hey you might love it and do well. Reading all the problems would be enough to depress anyone. love y'all

just a note for those of you who have not experienced any relief for joint pain, there are promising treatments now for carpel tunnel with cold laser therapy. might be worth a try.

I have had asthma my whole life and have dealt with it by sitting still and calming down, until about 6 or 7 years ago. I started having problems after I moved into a new house and was prescribed Vancerill, Serevent and Albuterol. I had never had to go to the hospital for a serious asthma attack until I started using these medications, one time by calling 911(mostly albuterol for emergencies just like the rest of you). Recently my doctor switched me to Advair telling me that everyone is being switched over and they won't make the other meds any more. Every time I use it I get a sharp pain in my upper back just under the left shoulder blade that does not go away for 2 or 3 weeks. At it's worst I feel numbness all up and down my left arm and in my fingers. I thought it may be carpel tunnel but it is not, I was tested for it. When this happens I end up taking 25 advil a day or 6 DOANS just to deal and that does not even work. I AM DONE WITH THIS CRAP - NEVER AGAIN, NEVER EVER AGAIN WILL I USE ADVAIR. My doctor keeps telling me it's a pulled muscle that has not had a chance to heal! I am fit, I have worked out my whole life, I drum, I do gymnastics and I have never ever had this kind of pain until I used Advair for the first time. This is ***. I will never use that crap again, I don't care if I die from an asthma attack, it would be better that this crippling pain.

In December I took Levaquin (500 mg ) daily for 10 days. I had a respiratory tract infection. After taking this medication, I lost my sense of smell and taste and I have severe joint pain in my hands. I am now being treated for carpel tunnel and may have to have surgery. Yesterday after seeing a ear nose and throat specialist, I find these problems are a side effect of the medication. I would never take this medicine again and would not recommend it to anyone.

I am currently taking Lipitor, I was taking another cholesterol med, don't remember what it was, but it was changed because the other wasn't effective. My cholesterol is great. Tonight while researching multiple symptoms I am having, I found this site. I have been on Lipitor for around 2 years now. For 2 years I have also been being treated for severe leg cramps, they knot up at times, this was diagnosed as Restless legs syndrome. I have numbness and tingling in my hands, my doc says most likely carpel tunnel ( I really don't do anything repeatedly with my hands) , my ears ring constantly, my hands and legs swell daily, so now I am taking a diuretic for that, I have constant headaches, blurred vision, severe upper and lower back pain, joint and muscle pain, severe dry mouth, at times I get very swollen gums (no bleeding of the gums) a metallic taste or salty taste in my mouth all the time, and unexplained pain , like bruises, all over my body. I am making another appointment in the morning about the dry mouth and gum pain, recently my teeth just started falling apart, my doc said that was from poor dental care, I brush my teeth at least 4 times a day and use mouthwash.
