I too was taking LIPITOR. After 3 months I became short of breath. At first I put it down to the weight that I had regained.I had lost 18kg.the year before. I had muscle pain, nausea, headaches. The Lipitor reduced the LDL alright, but the shortness of breath became worse and worse. If I was sitting on a chair and dropped a piece of paper on the floor I would be completely out of breath from bending over and picking it up! If I was walking for more than a few minutes I would be out of breath and had to stop. I quickly regained my breath; but the moment I started to walk again I would become breathless again!! My heart specialist decide to do an angiogram, that was o.k. He told me it was my weight that made me short of breath, I disagreed with him. My G.P. did not know what caused it either. I had had problems with Pravachol, severe muscles stiffness and pain. I could not straighten a bend leg or bend a straight leg.It was only after I studied the enclosed leaflet in the box of Lipitor that I noticed the RARE BUT SERIOUS SIDE EFFECT: Shortness of breath, if you suffer from this stop straight away and see your Dr. it said. It turned out that the ALVEOLI are affected. I had a lung function test done which showed my lung capacity was down by 20%.After cortisone treatment it has improved a bit but it is still 10% down and it effects me every day. I tire quickly and get out of breath walking uphill or against the wind.If there is a class action going let me know please! I am so fed up . I am only 63 but feel like an old woman.I will not take anymore cholesterol lowering medication; I rather live 5 years less, if that is the consequence.

I am a reasonably healthy 51 year old carpenter. A couple years ago my doctor prescribed Lipitor to bring down my cholesterol levels. I took it for over a year and then stopped, not due to side effects as I hadn't heard that there were any. I just don't particularly like taking pills all the time. After a few months passed I had blood work done and the doctor put me back on Lipitor. I noticed that I felt weaker and more sluggish than I had for the past few months. I still had not been advised of any possible side effects. I continued to feel weaker till one day while working I picked up a piece of equiptment that I have been using for over 30 years, so I was quite used to picking it up and carrying it around. Only this time when I picked it up my bicepts muscle tore completely off ! After getting an MRI on my bicepts and rotator cuff (which had also been giving me problems), I underwent surgery to have them both repaired. I have been out of work for 2 1/2 months now recovering. I'm told it will be another month at least before I can try to start working again. I am self employed so I get no pay to sit and recover. I WISH THAT I HAD VISITED THIS SITE A LONG TIME AGO.

You know I do feel sorry for the people that could not tolerate this medication because it is the only one that has even touched this damned bout of sinusitus I have. But you guys realize what a whiny bunch of putzes you come acrossed as?

"I used Ambien to soldier through" SOLDIER THROUGH??? what are you soldiering through?....you got a little restless and you ran to another pill which handled it. Sorry lady, thats not "soldiering" anything.

"I cried for two days thinking I had arthritis" LADY, pleeeeaaase. You are remodeling your house like a wannabe carpenter, hammering away and you blame your joint pains on the medication.....HELLO?

Thats it, I've had enough. To those normal people reading this, the drug is fine....you'll get a little stomach discomfort, maybe the splats for a day or two, but follow the instructions, drink alot of water and you'll be feeling better in about four days.
