have been on Lisinopril/HCTZ for over a year with no side effects. Last week I switched to Cartia XL because I am 29 and wanted to try to have a baby. The Cartia made me severely depressed so after four days I switched back to my Lisinopril/HCTZ until my follow-up appt. in three weeks. I took the Lisinopril/ HCTZ for two days. The first day I had a weezy cough. The second day I broke out in a rash that was unaffected by benadryl. I looked in OVID medical journal database and found that the symptoms of Lisinopril rash are rashes confined to the trunk, neck, and proximal limbs (closest to body) and are unaffected by Benadryl (because the rash is caused by luekotriene and not histamine reaction). I went to urgent care today and they gave me a benadryl shot and three prednisone pills with no effect. Then they gave me a IV drip with Zantac (the heartburn medicine but also can help with rashes). It helped some but I am back at home and the rash looks worse and still itches. This is horrible.

Had a heart attack in July and had a stent put in blocked artery. Prior to that I was taking Cartia for blood pressure. Cardiologist switched me to Lisinopril.
I've been having severe pain in my lower back on both sides and also around my rib cage. I'm in cardiac rehab and today my nurse/therapist told me they are increasing Lisinopril from 10 mg to 20 mg. After reading posts on this site, I'm a bit concerned.

I started taking cartia last January. I had terrible side effects and felt worse than before taking it and was switched to toprol XT. I was feeling better and went off it last spring because of weight gain. I have continued gaining weight and cannot stop. In the past year I have gained almost 18 pounds. To be sure I have not been exercising. However, I have started.

Of course the weight is all over but primarily in the stomach to thigh region. I have not ever had a problem here before. Please help. Any ideas on how to possibly loose the weight?

All suggestions are appreciated.

Hello!

This is my second post. I took yasmin for about three months - until my heart started racing and went in and out of beat - at the ER, my heart rate was over 250. I was diagnosed with PSVT (a heart condition). At the ER, they stopped and re-started my heart with medication. I thought that was the worst of it until two weeks ago (about 6 to 8 weeks after the heart-racing) - I had a "gallbladder attack". I have never had one before, do not usually eat fried foods, was told I had stones - had my gallbladder out a week and a half ago. I am 35, in overall good shape - the lab results came back a few days ago - I did not have stones as they first told me. I had a "diseased gallbladder". It had huge polyps in it, which were showing up on the ultrasound as gallstones. I am up tonight, trying to calm down from a panic/anxiety attack - they wake me up in the middle of the night. Have any of you ladies had to go on medication for panic/anxiety? I am already on Cartia (a beta blocker) for my heart - I am afraid to take anything else on one hand, but on the other - I need to sleep at night. Are any of you ladies on heart medication and some kind of anxiety/panic medication? I would love to be able to sleep. I am still praying that these effects from the Yasmin are not perminent. It has been a little over two months now since I quit taking Yasmin. . .

I also have an irregular heart beat after taking lisinopril 20 mg. I had no problems when I was talking Lisinopril 10 mg. Therefore I decided to go to the Cardiologist, He asked me to go through a stress test and noticed a skipping heart beat.
He advised me to keep taking Lisinporil. When I asked him about the side effect of this medicine (irregular heart beat) he suggested that it is only possible in poeple who have BP less then 80/50. Does any one has any ideas? Please also ask your doctors if its true or not. Thanks lot.
