I have been on 10 MG of Lipitor for almost 3 years. Since I began taking it I have had recurring issues with an anxious feelings, my lower GI is constantly churning and I feel like I am stressed out. I have a low stress job, a stable happy family life and yet I feel nervous all the time. I sleep for 3-4 hours and then wake up and am unable to get back to sleep. I have been forced to take a nap ever day after lunch just to get through the day. Additionally, I developed tremors in my hands and was diagnosed with something called Benign Essential Tremor and put on another medication to control the shaking.

Yesterday I decided I had enough of this and went to see my cardiologist to discuss the symptoms. I stopped taking the Lipitor on my own 2 days before. The doctor told me that none of my symptoms were related to Lipitor! I replied that I was convinced that they were all in fact caused by this drug. He suggested I stop taking the statin for 2 weeks and see if the symptoms stop. I am now on day 4 without lipitor and am already feeling less anxious.

I went to the Nuerologist 2 weeks ago and got her to discontinue the anti-tremor medication. I am going to get all this crap out of my system and hopefully get my life back.

My 11 year old daughter finally told me been having suicidal thoughts since Sept. 07. Changed her class and started seeing a counselor. My 8 year old son says he can't control his body - often in a suffering tone. 8 year old son and 10 year old son having trouble concentrating in school and turning in home work - staying on task. Stopped Singulair - two weeks later counselor is ready to release daughter from thereapy. Much happier girl. 8 year old tells me he is on cloud nine - I think he trying to tell me he feels in control of himself and able to handle every day situations. 8 year old also had nightmares - gone now. I am angry that my children have taken this drug for the last 3 years every day. You always think medications are here to help -not hurt. I have learned my lesson. Dr's are quick not to blame medicine but try to rule out all other possibilities. Sometimes parents don't have time to do that. Just think, I could have lost my only daughter if this info hadn't come out.

I just returned from the ER with my 8 year old daughter who was put on Singulair again. She initially took it for about 1 year about a year ago or so. Her pediatrician felt the current cough and stuffy nose was due to allergies, I insisted yes, but also causing her asthma to flare and said that in the past the Singulair did not stop the progression of the symptoms into a full blown multi medicine needed to control her asthma occurrence and perhaps we should use Proventil and Advair to get her back on track. Now after 5 days of Singulair she is on oral steroids, Proventil Inhaler and possible has pneumonia and she has HIVES all over her body! The ER doctor said not use the Singulair and in 2 days I could start the antibiotics if she is still coughing and has fever, Oh yes, I forgot to say the past 2 nights she has had a low grade fever 100-101.2 degrees.
I think MD's are to quick to push a drug they think is safe and newer instead of using good old fashion time proven remedies like Proventil and a short burst of oral steroids.

Lipitor - poison in disguise?
I have been taking 10mg of Lipitor daily for the past three months - but not anymore. It is an insidious drug with side effects that crept up on me and left me in an emotionally turbulent state. Blinding headaches, nausea, vertigo, disorientation, memory loss, extremely dry eyes, pain and stiffness in my neck and calf muscles, abominal pain and flatulence, and a urinary tract infection. The local GP.(not the one who initially prescribed the Lipitor ) described my symptoms as "too vague to diagnose".
It was this site that proved my turning point. It was great to relate to so many similar case histories. I am usually fit and healthy woman in my 50s who is keen to stop anyone else going through what I have recently experienced.
