I've been on Advair for 4 or 5 years and can never find a doctor who will even entertain the notion of taking me off of it. Although I have many symptoms that have been documented by GSK they consider it "very unlikely" that Advair is causing my joint pain, bloating, headaches, mouth sores etc. Last year I had pneumonia (also a reported adverse reaction) and THIS year I was diagnose with osteoporosis (yet another risk). I think these doctors are afraid that if they agree to wean me off & I die they'll get sued. Sorry to be so blunt but the problem is that the last doctor who tried to wean me off (now retired) even contacted the manufacturer & was told there is "currently no protocol" recommended for the cessation of Advair. My asthma got so bad when I tapered off, even with oral steroids he eventually just put me back on, hoping to hear of a protocol later. I'm very frustrated to say the least. Doctors seem to think "well it seems to be working since your still alive". Of course I can't to a certainty attribute all my symptoms to Advair it seems very unlikely that NONE of them are. Can't say if the Advair is directly causing depression but the Advair SITUATION is depressing!

I had the MIRENA IUD inserted on January 11th, 2008. 10 weeks after my sons’ birth. It is now February 18th I have went over a full month of consistent bleeding. After 13 days of non-stop bleeding, no breaks in between, called the doctor just to get advised to take ibuprofen for menstrual cramps. That was not of my concern, how long was I to be bleeding for, however was. Never got an answer, and now the cramping too are of big concern. Just yesterday, while I was at Wal-Mart, I had cramps so bad they stopped me dead in my tracks. I have never, never ever had a menstrual cycle longer than 3 days and cramps so bad I couldn't go to work. Just over these past two weeks my skin has become so horrible, I do not get acne ladies, and I now have acne all over my back, chest, arms and patches on my face. Also, in odd places, who gets acne behind their neck and ears? I don't know, do you? I had breast tenderness for about 1 to 2 weeks; still have dizziness every other day. I have 2 kids, had an epidural with both and had no issues with lower back pain. Think I do now? Well, of course I do! Funny thing too, I didn't know that mood swings were a side effect, and my boyfriend says to me the other day, "you have been real mean for like the past month!" The only thing I can say that has not been a problem is my sex drive. Even though I have been bleeding for over a month I have had some very, very light days. This IUD has not interfered with my interest in sex. I actually want it more now than ever... but that’s probably because I am so in love with the man that gave me the two loves of my life!!!! And not the MIRENA IUD... lol!!!

I was originally put on Yasmin because of my PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome). I was taking it for about 2-3 years and just stopped about a month and 1/2 ago and I am experiencing horrific headaches. They are sudden and on the left side behind my eye. There is no warning. They are like migraines but they are piercing pain not throbbing. Could the cessation of taking Yasmin be the cause? I hurt almost daily and I'm so sick of it. Also I haven't had a period yet.

Update after stopping Singulair. I stopped taking the drug on March 7th due to sleep disturbances (vivid dreams), depression (constant impending doom and thoughts of death), gastrointestinal disturbance - diarrhea, cramping on lower left side, general IBS symptoms. Following discontinuance, the depression has lessened, not currently to the point where I am the same person as I was (never suffered depression). Sleep has returned to normal, but find days when I become very tired after 5 hours and still go to bed early. This is not every day, some days cannot sleep, others are easy. GI problems became moreso after stopping. Went to the doctor who is doing a colonoscopy next week, I am overdue but the cramping, indigestion and roving abdominal pain bacame worse the first week following cessation and are now subsiding.
I wish I were one of the majority who could take this drug, but unfortunatly am not. Hopefully all negative side effects will be gone in the next few weeks, just hard to believe it did so much to me.

SURPRISE! It appears that when one speaks to her doctor in an authoritative, nonhysterical tone, and with knowledge and intelligence about the subject, that doctor actually listens. I insisted my endocrinologist take me off Lipitor because of extreme side effects developing after a couple of years on it (unbearable muscle pains, edema in ankles and hands, unexplained rashes, tinnitus, vision problems) and he did exactly that without so much as a howdy-do or a doubt that I might be exaggerating my symptoms. Said we would check my cholesterol again during next visit and look for another solution, if it rose again over 200. I am now a happy camper and will report to those of you suffering similar symptoms about the results of this rather peremptory cessation of this scary drug. If I keel over, at least I won't die in pain, huh? And if I don't, you guys can consult similarly with your doctors.

It is my 10th and final day of Levaquin 500mg qd. I began taking it for sinusitis that became pharyngitis/laryngitis. Since beginning the drug, I have experienced decreased mental acuity, lightheadedness, food and drinks taste salty, extremely bizarre & lucid dreams -- sometimes 5-6 per night that I can remember or at least can remember how strange they were. Also, I have experienced everything from diarrhea to complete cessation of BM, bloating, and extreme nausea.

I was started on Questran over three months ago since I had reacted badly to statin drugs. I was taking 1 scoop twice a day. With that dosage I had some nausea and other similar feeling, but not unbearable. However, after three months of usage my overall cholesterol came down somewhat, but my triclycerides went up and my HDL came down. Very disappointing. My Dr. told me to take a double dose each day--before long I had what felt like a cessation of intestinal function---very constipated and a feeling of rawness in my inestine---and felt quite ill, along with having a lot of pain in my gut. The Dr. had assured me that this medication had NO side effects, but I think he lied. They do that a lot in my experience. Why they feel they cannot tell you the truth is beyond me, but they do it all the time. Especially if you are a woman. Besides that I have panic and anxiety disorder which I developed early in my life due to a bad home life and a marriage into more of the same stuff; however I am over that, but I think once you have it you are looked on, especially if you are a woman, as forever being in the control of those disorders. I also have fibromyalgia, and have had a lot of pain in my life, so am no stranger to it. Also I had seven children, without any anesthesia whatsoever with any of them, so I think I am not a baby when it comes to pain. However, in my experience many doctors overlook that sort of thing. I have now decided not to take any more questran until I get some answer as to what is going on here. On reading the message above I see that I am not the only one having this result from this medication. That helps, since I don't have to feel that I am crazy or something.
I appreciate any information I can get on this question. I am not taking any more of this stuff until I get an answer, and I know I won't get it from the Dr. He is new to me and I to him--the Dr. he replaced was my Dr. for about 15 years---we grew to know each other well and he respected what I told him. However, he has become very ill and apparently will never be able to come back to practice. So I am now stuck with a new one whom I don't know and who does not know me. Nuts.
Thanks for any help.

17/2/09 I was prescribed Keflex 500mg 3 times a day (every 8 hours) last week after being told that the symptoms I had were possibly due to a kidney infection and to take this over the weekend & ring for the results of the lab test on the urine sample given early Monday morning - I experienced loss of appetite, lower back pain, tingling in my lips & the side of my face(by Sunday night that occurred) severe foot cramps, pains in my leg & stomach pain - my husband advised me Sunday night to stop taking the drug until I had spoken to the surgery. (incidentally the Doctor had been wrong the lab tests showed no kidney infection!!) following cessation I woke up this morning with my whole body drenched in sweat!! My appetite though has returned. I will never take it again!! & all because of a wrong diagnosis!!
