Followup to my June 7th posting. I have since started Simvastatin again, and was actually off of it for a week. I have had a comprehensive blood test, been to the doc, and everything is ok, except my LDLs are high and total Cholesterol is still 204. The weather here has finally dried out and all my aches and pains have subsided. I'm walking briskly 3 miles a day after work, hiking on weekends. I'm adding foods to lower my LDLs and raise the HDLs in addition to 80mg Simvastatin. Also I'm eating less, and have cut most of my red meat and fatty foods from my diet. I'm 6', 187 lbs. and 59 yo. I actually feel good now, and nothing has changed except I'm getting more exercise, eating less and healthier, and it quit raining.

Started Lipitor in 1995 after a heart attack.

My doctor's insist Lipitor is not causing, my tiredness, sore eyes, even after 8 hours of sleep I get up tired, loss of memory, loss of words, stammering, stuttering, difficulty articulating words, feeling of hopelessness.

The doctor wont take me off Lipitor , anything else I can do to lower by cholesterol. Without Lipitor it is 240, Lipitor brings it down to 180.

I take 10 mg

I am 36 years old and have been on Lipitor 40 for about 5 years. Over time, I have noticed it very difficult to concentrate and focus. I am always dragging, and my shoulders, neck and legs always ache. I guess I chalked most of it up to getting old. But recently, I started to get burining, shooting pains in my left elbow area (doctor says tennis elbow). After doing a little research - I was shocked to find that almost every symptom that I have- can be related back to Lipitor. I stopped taking it for a few weeks, and I started to feel a little better. I stopped because I couldn't afford it. Once I was able to refill my prescription- the same issues started again. I think that I am going to stop it for good, and document changes in my body. Hopefully for the better

I was on Lipitor for 2 months and had to stop taking them. I was getting several side effects, but the absolute worse for me has been the burning hot itching skin all over - particularly head, legs and arms. When I scratched - even lightly - my skin comes up in welts that sometimes bled. I also have burning in my eyes and my ears - particularly bad in my ears accompanied by a painful throbbing sensation.

I stopped taking Lipitor almost 3 months ago now and although the effects have eased a bit they are still there particularly on my head, right arm, and lower legs. I can't even shower and dried off with a towel Ibut 'm left with red welt type marks that are extremely itchy and burn at the same time. If I put a towel on my head to dry my hair my scalp and face feel like I've got severe sun burnt. I'm hoping these side effects will eventually go away.

I'm going to go back to my Doctor in 4 days time and I'm dreading it - he's not the open minded type. When I complained about the side effects first he was very dismissive but then agreed to lower my Lipitor dose from 10mg to 5mg and told me not to start taking them again until the symptoms went away. He also told me that he had never heard of anyone having adverse effects from Lipitor!

Has anyone else noticed that in most experiences here the side effect seem to get really bad after the Lipitor starts to lower the bad chlosterol. I started to experience side efects very soon after starating Lipitor but that coincided with my bad chlosterol levels dropping like a rock from a very high rating to normal within the first month.

Please tell me if this burning itching side effect will eventually stop on its own or is there anything i can do to speed up the process.

I am a 68 year old male and am now on 40 mg. of Zocor for 4 weeks. I have never been on any Rx medications since I have always been in excellent health. My annual physicals have always been perfect except for elevated chlosterol (237). My doctor put me on Zorcor 5/9. Now my ears ring, neck hurts, tenderness of skin, tired all the time, hard to sleep, vision problems, headaches, and outlook on life is not as it was.
I am stopping Zorcor now. I plan to pursue a natural method of lowering my chlosretol. Diet change, excercise (treadmill) and a product put out by Twinlab (non-Rx). If this doesn't work, at least I won't hurt so much and can again enjoy life as I was before taking Zorcor.
