Been about 5 months post-removal for me. I can honestly say I am doing better but still not 100% as I had hoped to be. I had a good week last week which was the first time I felt like myself in about 6 months. It gave me hope even though I'm not feeling great this month.
Distraction is a tremendous help. One of the worst things I did to myself was sit and dwell and panic and stress over everything (although there was a point when I'm not sure I had a choice in the matter). I'm ready for this to be done with. I do get very symptom-y and anxious around my periods so I know this is all hormonal and Mirena-triggered. My OB/Gyn told me to give it a year.
The most stubborn effect has been GERD (acid reflux). I don't know that that will ever go away.

I had all of the above side effects when I was on this crap. Topamax is highly dangerous. I now have developed Narcolepsy, have problems with my joints, my memory has trouble here and there for simple things. I am only 29, and haven't taken this stuff for about 4 yrs. I have permanent problems now that I have to live with for the rest of my life. I didn't have a choice in the matter. I was ordered by the court to take a psychological evaluation. They asked some questions and determined that I was Bi polar. Topamax was the drug they put me on, and look where I'm at now. I also have Migraines, which I had way before this poison, and my advice to everyone is that this stuff is dangerous, don't take it!

I was on prednisone for over a year for neurosarcoidosis. My doctor and I felt there was no choice in the matter. It was either take the prednisone or suffer brain damage. The side effects were devastating. Although I hated the moon face, weight gain (50 lbs. in 3 months) and buffalo hump - I could have lived with them. What I'm still having trouble with is leg and joint pain and vision problems. I've been off prednisone for a month now. The weight is starting to go down but the pain in my back and my leg is still there. Still, I feel so much better than I did two months ago.
