i was a healthy 35 year old male but had high cholesterol, so the doctor prescribed lovastatin (mevacor) and tried it for a month but developed muscle weakness. months later, i'm still experiencing severe muscle spasms and my neurologist is stumped -- mri's, spinal tap, emg -- all normal. I just want to feel normal again. can anyone help? please email me!

I am 22, I have Lupus and RA. I am on other meds too but I am more than positive that Prednisone has brought about my moon face and maybe my sleepless nights. I workout everyday and in the best shape I have been in my whole life but it sucks because I am only able to be this healthy because I am on all these meds including Prednisone. I probably would be using a walker. So basically its a choice of vanity(huge head) or good health. But I have asked my doctor to lower my doses. Was at 30mg, I am now at 20....hopefully I can get down to just 5mg and still be able to move my joints as freely as I do now

I have had the same serious of same side effects as everyone listed in this site. Tiredness is the BIG one - Mostly to not being able to sleep...Timing is perfect with taking this Drug. i necver had this problem before. I feel great in the morning untill about and hour later after popping the pill and the rest of the day is a struggle. Doc' put me on Provigil (speed) to keep me going. Some days that doesn't even work. it's only been lately i have put two and two together and blame it on the Lisinopril.
Question? Anyone switch Med's and had beter results? If so which one??
Thanks
Rich

Anyone have peripheral neuropathy on Zocor? I had shooting pains down both arms for a few days one month into taking Zocor. This stopped but is replaced with intense muscle pain in arms, hands, shoulders and back - and recently hot flashes. I stopped taking the Zocor 3 days ago AMA (against medical advice) as my doc said the neuropathy is not a side effect of Zocor.

my father is 83 years old and has taken cholesterol medicine for many years. Initially the dosage was 40 mg of Pravachol which was later increased to 80 mg, and a few months ago his doctor also added 10 mg of Zetia. For his age he has been very active, dancing 3-4 nights per week. In May, 2005, he was in a car accident in which someone rear-ended him causing some back problems. Since that time he has seen his regular doctor and also an orthopaedic doctor in regard to this. After numerous X-rays, steroid shots and cortisone shots, he has continued to get worse. He is experiencing extreme pain in his shoulders and arms and also back and legs. He has pain in doing everyday things such as getting dressed, combing his hair, getting out of bed., etc. After the two doctors finally talked, they have told him to stop taking the Pravachol and the Zetia. Can this be what is causing his problems? Is this damage reversible? How long does it take for these medications to get out of his system? He has gone from being active to almost being an invalid!
