I just wanted to post an update.

I took my son off singulair over a year ago. He was on since he was 2 yrs old and had started with chronic headaches at about 10 yrs old. He also had tantrums(I don't know how else to describe it), was upset and sad and basically disliked himself. He cried all the time. I had always thought it was just him. These symptom had come on slowly over the years.

The first week off this med, it was like he was freaking out and everything was 100x worse. But the headaches almost immediately disappeared.

Other parents were wondering how long it took for his personality to change.or if the kids would remain that way.

It took quite a long time. It was worse for weeks after we took him off. Then it slowly started to improve.

In the last 6-8 months, it's like living with a different child. There's no crying, he's happy, there's no tantrums anymore. Gets a headache maybe once a month instead of daily.

He still has allergies, he still has asthma. But for the first time in years he seems normal. I love that word, normal.

I've been on the generic of Loestrin for almost a year now (Generic is Microgestin - which by the way is much less expensive - I pay $10 at Rite Aid Pharmacy). I haven't had any side effects other than not getting my period. Its good to see that everyone else here is experiencing this same side effect. Every month I don't get my period i freak out in a mad panic. I don't even get pre-menstrual symptoms anymore ie) breast tenderness or just that "feeling" you get when you know its comming. I was on Ortho Tri Cylcen Lo for 6 years and never had a problem - i got my period like clock work and it always came with the physical systoms that i was getting it 3 or 5 days before. Due to Ortho Lo not being covered by my insurance, i decided to switch to a less expensive pill i could get in generic. BAD IDEA. If you're sexually active and not in a stable or committed relationship i strongly don't suggest this pill. Personally I like the assurance that i'm not pregnant. Id like to get back on Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo, but the Loestrin is covered by my insurance, inexpensive, and ultimately i'm never preggers (so it does work when taken correctly), but the fear and anxiety is NOT healthy for my emotional well being. If you don't like getting a period, this is a great pill. Its probably best suited for someone not so sexually active or in a situation where a getting a period each month is an inconvenience - if you're traveling, going overseas, in the military or something.

Lastly, After reading everyone else's side effects i'm starting to realize maybe i'm having more effects than i originally thought. I didn't put two and two together before, but now i'm starting to wonder about the headaches. I've never experienced chronic headaches before in my life until recently. About once a month i get terrible headaches for one or two days - i have to take 4 advils every 12 hours or so. My appetite hasn't change, i haven't gained any weight, and no hair loss for me.

Soon after receiving the first of three Gardasil vaccinations, my daughter started experiencing daily headaches which progressively worsened. Her doctor said that it wasn't likely to be a side effect of Gardasil. Over the next year, she was referred for vision testing and had a CT Scan and MRI to try to diagnose the chronic headaches which had become quite severe and often debilitating. No cause was found. She was given prescription after prescription which didn't help- and often generated additional side effects that made her feel worse. A year later she still has undiagnosed headaches and takes a prescription medication twice per day to lessen the severity of the headaches. Only recently did we find an article relaying the same story- linking the headaches to Gardasil vaccinations. With no health issues prior to the vaccinations, no underlying cause found following many tests, doctor referrals and medications, and the fact that this all started immediately following her first dose of Gardasil, we suspect this is what instigated the headaches.

I got mirena in January of 08, so I have had it about a year now. I have had constant depression, fatigue and chronic headaches. My eyes are are starting to ache now and I am having abdominal pain as well. I get this very odd tingling sensation through my whole body. I have been to so many doctors and like everyone else, all the sudden thought is it mirena? I called to make an appointment to get it taken out, still waiting for the call back. Please anyone write back and let me know if you experience this weird tingling and eye pain. I have also started to have anxiety and panic attacks as well. They put me on Valium and all sorts of stuff. I have anxiety because no one can explain all of these symptoms. I constantly just feel tired and angry. I hope when I get this out I can be NORMAL again.

I had a Mirena put in 1.5 weeks ago. I have had 3 migraines in this time frame. I have only had 2 migraines my WHOLE LIFE before the mirena. I asked a nurse at the doctor's office if this is a side effect and she said NO! Pffft. I also noticed my hair is coming out in clumps in the shower, and my right leg has a weird cramp/ache down the back of it, not like sciatica but a kind of dull ache. I think I am one of those women who is very sensitive to hormones. I was on the pill for years as a teen and young 20something, and had chronic headaches but never put 2+2 together! I will be getting the Mirena out asap and I'm going to try Fertility Awareness. I'm done with trying to chemically manipulate my body.

I am 39 years old and have been on Omeprazole for 6 years. I have had the worst year ever. I was always a healthy and fit guy until 2008. I had chronic headaches and extreme fogginess which led to me having an MRI and seeing a chiro(all negative). I had chronic chest pain which led to EKG's, stress tests, ER visits, and tons of blood work ranging from cardiac, glucose, liver, renal, thyroid, etc...(all negative). Did gastroscopy and found esophagitis and gastritis. Upped the dosage of Omeprazole. Then I started getting tremors, muscle cramping, muscle pain, fatigue, blotchy red skin, and continued fogginess and lightheaded.

Did I mention i still have constant heartburn despite all the Omeprazole. I have done everything...tilt up head of bed, bland diet, no coffee or alcohol, no eating late evening etc....

Doctor put me on Fluoxetine (Prozac) for all my stress and anxiety from these crazy symptoms. After seeing this site and reading all your testimonies I am now thinking it is from the Omeprazole!!! Scary thought to stop since my chest pain and heartburn can be pretty severe and constant. What do I do? Feel like I'm caught between a rock and a hard place here.

I had 2 surgeries at once last week and was prescribed Meprozine 1-2 capsules every 4-6 hours. The first 4 days I took 2 at a time and within 20 minutes my pain was gone, I felt relaxed and a little drowsy and was able to nap, which I needed for at least the first two days after my surgery. Twice in 4 days, one of my legs twitched and once my arm twitched. After the first 4 days, I would take only 1 as needed, usually in the evening after I has been up all day and was in a little pain. I had slight dizziness when I first stood up the first day only when I would get up to go to the bathroom. Other than that, I had no nausea, and I have to eat something before I take any medication, no stomach pains, no allergic reactions (I am allergic to medications with codeine in it), no depression, no emotional swings (in fact, if I wasn't sleeping, I was so relaxed that I was able communicate normally, laugh, make my normal jokes, etc.), I did not hallucinate or see things. I was also on an antibiotic, which my pharmacist said would make me very thirsty so I attributed my dry mouth to that. Last year, I was prescribed several different strong pain medications for severe chronic headaches and they did nothing. I would recommend Meprozine for short term relief for pain management. I do know someone who got addicted to Meprozine after taking it everyday for several months because a doctor kept prescribing it to her, so it is definitely only to be used for short term use. If I ever have to have surgery again, dental work, or need something for pain management, I will be asking my doctor for a one time prescription for Meprozine.

I started NR about 6 weeks ago. Within the first few hours of inserting the ring I immediately noticed how dry I became. This in turn made sex with my boyfriend extremely uncomfortable. For the first time in my life, I've had to use lube. Now, I'm finding that it's extremely uncomfortable to have sex, no matter how much lube we use. Prior to NR, we were having sex at least twice a day. Now, I can only stand to have sex about every other day...and it's almost unbearable even then. I've noticed some slight bleeding after sex. I have chronic headaches, diarrhea, and mood swings. After reading all of this, I'm wondering if I should take the ring out immediately and call my doctor first thing on Monday morning. Suggestions?

I can't believe I came across this. I have been having the weirdest things going on with me and had no idea they were attributed to my IUD: Mirena. I have had Mirena for a little over a year and actually love it. I stopped having periods all together on it after only having it for 2 months. Never had any cramps, bloating or spotting. I also didn't gain any weight on it. In fact, I lost a lot of weight. However, all my other symptoms are the same as every one else on here. I have an extreme amount of hair loss. I am terrified of the amount of hair I have been losing. I have extremely irritable with my husband and think just don't feel like anything matters anymore. I just feel depressed. Having a two year old doesn't help. :) I also have zero sex drive. I have chronic headaches anyway, but I have had an increase in my headaches. I have had weird low back pain and joint aches in my knees and feet. I have also had a lot congestion and sinusitis, which I read can be a side effect. I have also had some eye and vision problems. Not to mention fatigue, acne, flaky skin, numb fingers and just basically, for the past year, I haven't felt like myself. I am having it removed on Monday and hope that I start to feel like myself again. I am so happy that I started to do some research and discovered this, otherwise I might still be miserable, wondering why. If anyone knows anything about a lawsuit let me know.

I have been taking 25 mg. at bedtime of topamax for the last week. I was prescribed topamax to end my chronic headaches. The last week has been very difficult for me. In just 7 days I have gone from being sharp, aware, motivated, focused and in control... to scattered, unable to focus, can't remember my pin # that I have had for 20 years, stop mid sentence because I can't remember what I was trying to say, unable to hold a conversation, unable to think clearly, unable to interact with my children. My family says I have turned into a zombie. I am not safe to drive and cannot work. I did not take my topamax last night and won't be taking it anymore. I would gladly have my headaches back if I could just feel like myself again. I had no idea it would affect me so negatively in just one week on such a low dose. (25 mg)

Be so careful before taking this medicine. My doctor didn't discuss any of these side effects with me, but I did research the drug online before I took it and was aware there were serious side effects, but it never seems that serious until you actually endure the side effects for yourself. The drug is not for me.

I,ve had mirena for 2 1/2 yrs and it has been the worst 2 1/2 yrs ever! I went to the ob 8 months ago to have it removed and my Dr. would not take it out she said that there was no possible way that it could be causing my 6 days in a row migraines that only respond to imitrex nothing else. So for the past couple of days I've been trying to make an appt to have
mirena taken out but the appts are like 2 weeks wait. I removed it myself this morning took a while to find it, hope this doesn't offend anyone I just wanted it out that bad. I really hope I start to feel better and that all the symptoms tat I have been having are not all in my head. My symptoms include no menstrual bleeding but instead a viscous cycle of Pms, cramps, headaches and fatigue that never go away. For the past 10 months I,ve had migraines and have been taking imitrex consistently. I don't ever feel like getting out of bed and my 2 oldest kids don't understand why I'm so ill and my youngest 2 1/2 says mommy has a headache, all day long. I'm curious to know if any one else has had migraines or chronic neck pain? Thanks.

My Dr. prescribed Seasonale (which I had been on for 5+ years), but the pharmacy gave me generic Jolessa. I thought, "How different can it be?" It started out with chronic headaches in the afternoon. After being on Jolessa for about a year, I had two "attacks" where my eyes went blurry and my arm and face went numb. The doctors checked me for blood clots and a stroke. All of my tests came back ok. When I went to the emergency room the second time, the ER doctor told me to get off of the Jolessa immediately! This was about three months ago, and I haven't had any problems since! I am 26, very healthy, don't smoke or drink...I'm sure it was the Jolessa.

I'm experiencing some VERY concerning symptoms and have a feeling it might be from the Mirena. And my doctors think it's just stress! SOMEBODY HELP!

I had a baby 4 months ago and at my postpardom appointment I was talked into getting the Mirena. After I had it inserted it all started with severe cramping and light bleeding that still has not subsided. I have been suffering with chronic headaches, dizziness, and facial numbness. I've also had bouts of anxiety and leg cramping and recently starting to have pain in my neck and one of my lymph nodes on my left side has become present and tender to the touch.

I mentioned all the these symptoms to my OB/GYN and he said "it's NOT related to the Mirena, go to your Primary Care Dr. and get some tests done" Well, I did that, got a full CBC and had my thyroid checked and all of my blood work came back normal. My Dr. said I am stressed after having the baby and to get some rest. I really wanted to have a CT done but after reading this I am beginning to think it's the Mirena as I had not had any of these symptoms prior to the IUD. I think i'll make an appointment to have it removed.

Anyone ot there have any of my exact same symptoms???

My doctor put me on topamax for daily chronic headaches. I worked my way up to 200mg and had all the symptoms, tingling in my hands and toes, short term memory loss, hard time putting sentences together, etc. I backed myself down to 100mg. and the side effects lessoned up significantly. I stayed on 100mg for almost a year (lost 10 lbs.) One day I decided that I was going to ween myself off and started going down 25mg every week until I stopped altogether. Since I have stopped, I do get headaches, usually 1 or 2 per week, nothing like when I started out on the topamax. I have gained 20lbs since stopping the topamax but no longer have a memory problem or putting together a complete sentence. In my opinion, you should try to take the lowest dose possible that gives you the greatest relieve from your pain.

This is tough. I was on Topamax for about two years. But then I wanted to detox my body from all meds. Topamax helped with my chronic headaches. I had headaches 23-24 days out of the month. Topamax helped me quite a bit. But the side effects were horrible. Once my body got used to it, it was not too bad, not great but somewhat bearable. But after getting off of it again after a year, I got the worse headache ever, I blacked out. It felt as if someone was shoving an icepick through my eye. This started to happen more than once. My doc suggested I go back on because it helped me before. So here I go again. I lost 12 pounds in seven days. I forget what I am going to say. I have poor concentration. I am hyper-aware. And I cry quite a bit. This is NOT ME. But I try to keep walking along and doing my best, because neither the medication nor the headaches are going to get the best of me!!!!!

I have been using the NUVARING for over a year. I have gained 12lbs because I am bloated all the time and want to over eat. I used to be active, fun and happy. Now I hurt all the time, my lower back aches like I am in Labor and my breasts hurt. Sex just grosses me out, which never happened on any other form of bc. I can hardly stand myself I am so cranky and tired.

I have a history of migraines (which I now realize began with my IUD which had hormones too. But nothing like the migraines with the NuvaRing.) The NuvaRing has seemed to worsen them and they last for weeks. Also, I barely have a menstrual flow and am depressed all time, no energy and am angry for no reason. My quality of life is awful and now I know why. After reading your blogs I removed the ring right away. My husband has made an appointment to ensure I never have to have birth control again. I want to be the happy, thin and pain free person I used to be! Now I have hope. This method of bc is not worth the problems it has cause me and my family...and my career. I am in "sales"...you can't be depressed and be in sales.

Thank you all for giving me hope with your honesty!! I thought I was going crazy.

Has anyone else had severe migraines last for weeks since starting the NuvaRing? Also, anyone here ever had the IUD??

My son is 4 1/2 years old and has been on Singulair since he was 2. We have been happy with the improvement we have seen in regards to his asthma. No more breathing treatments have been great. The last couple of years though he has continued to get severe headaches that put him out for at least a day with high fevers. The first time it happened was when he was 2 and he had a mild seizure with spiked fever. I haven't thought about it at all until he was due to get another headache and hasn't. We have missed some doings due to the holidays and walked out schedule. The timing and symptoms are seeming a little to coincidental. We have seen a hematologist and immunologist for his chronic headaches but no one knows why he is having them. He has even been admitted for them. His white blood cell count has been elevated with no known cause as to what his body is fighting. I think we will take him off of the Singulair for at another month and see if he gets anymore headaches.

I was diagnosed bipolar a year ago and worked my way up to 200 mg of Lamictal a day but recently desided to wean myself off of it as I have found some chinese herbs that will stabilize my moods without the side effects. Since being on Lamictal, I have had horrible pain in my left foot when I walk and it just kept getting worse. The pain got so bad I could not stay at work. I am a welder and have to be on my feet all day but after two hours I would be in so much pain and have to take tylenol 3 with codeine just to make it through an 8 hour shift. I am now down to 25mg of lamictal and soon to be totally off. My foot is now healing and I feel great personally. I am not irritable or moody but am taking Chinese herbs . I noticed when I got myself down to the 100 mg level then went to 75 mg of Lamictal, I got really sick like I had pnuemonia and I had severe chills, bad headache, swollen lymphnodes and very nauseated with no appetite for three days. I lost 5 pounds during this time. I got through it but felt like I was haveing a illegal drug withdrawal big time.
Lamictal was poison to my system. I feel great now. I can now start to run and exercise again. For anyone who has interest, go to Ron Teegaurdens Dragon Herbs web site and find a natural way. you will be much happier.
Lamictal is bad stuff.

I take topamax for migraines. I'm still feeling this out. When I first started about 2 months ago I went through all kinds of crazy symptoms. My husband thought I was loosing it. For some reason my doctor wanted to start me out right away with about 50 in am and 50 at night. The first month was rough.
I read the pamplets and took myself down to a lower dose and worked up slower as the company suggest. I not only had tingly hands and extremties.
But outburst of weeping and anger like never before. Like triple the pms symptoms. There were just all kinds of weird things. In this 2nd month I am taking 100 in the am and 25-50 in the evening. I am now experiencing the acne, itchy skin, inability to concentrate, apathy. Insomnia. In general I don't get chronic headaches. But have yet to see menstrual migraines subside. Sill feeling my way through this. You cannot stop this med abruptly. As many meds. Do not tell you how dangerous they are to stop abruptly. I think every one is individual. Soda's are not flat for me, but enhanced. More carbonated. Which I like. Strange I know.

I took 75mg of Topamaz for 3 1/2 months for my chronic migraines. The side affects for me were nearly as bad as the headaches: I lost 17 pounds, tingling in my toes and fingers, tiredness, food intolerances, and still had the headaches. I went off the Topamax 2 months ago and thought I was going to be OK. But last week, I developed appendicitis and had my appendix taken out by emergency surgery. I am curious if any other patient has had appendicitis but just didnt relate it to the Topamax.

I have been taking Topamax for chronic headaches migraines. I am really frustrated after trying Topamax for the second time. I tried it for about four months early in the year and here I am again trying the drug once more. I am using 100 mg both times and see no results even this time around. I have only been on it for about two months. My neurologist tells me to be patient, but it's really hard to when my life is ruined and I cannot work as a hairdresser (product fragrances and chemicals that trigger headaches). My career may be over and I am only 23. I just don't understand why I am on epilepsy medication. All of these problems have lead me into depression, which is a whole other topic. My neurologist keeps scheduling me for followups about once a month which seems pointless and extremely costly. I feel like I am getting taken advantage of money-wise. I want to stop taking my medication and try chiropractic care. I know better than to quit cold turkey... Should I just call my neurologist and cancel my appointment and ween myself off my medication???

I've been taking doxycycline for a few days now. The first few days i felt dizzy, and I had shortness of breath and a heavy chest, the next day I vomitted, and had sharp pains in my stomach. I realized it was because I didn't take it with food, now I take it after a few bites of a meal and basically try to cover the pill with food and liquid so it doesnt upset my stomach and its working...but I'm surprised this antibiotic is has so many side effects..I also have chronic headaches and advil doesn't work at all. I advise anyone taking this medication to eat it with your food or shortly after, especially in the morning.

It seems to be clearing up my bladder infection though, I couldn't take two medications at once so I took this one for a bacterial infection, and I think its killing 2 birds with one stone.

It was nice to find this website, finally figuring out a reason why I get my yeast infections, headaches, naseau, pain on my left breast bone, fatigue, mood swings, etc... I always thought it was just me, but I'm now thinking that maybe it's not. I've had recurrent yeast infections ever since being on Yasmin (I've been on it for over 4 years) and my MD has never mentioned it could be the pill. I finally started seeing a connection between the two when I started tracking what happens to me when I miss taking the pill (ALWAYS a yeast infection). And it got me to thinking that maybe there are other women out there who suffer from the same thing. Also, at some points I actually thought I had serious mental/health problems b/c of my consistent headaches, fatigue, and mood swings. I used to be really active up until I was 19 when I started on Yasmin, and it went downhill from there. I guess I just thought that this was just my normal grown up self (I know sounds kinda lame). And I've totally experienced the lack of sex drive, it seems I'm only interested the week before I get my period or when I'm on it.
