After exactly 2 hours of ingesting the Avelox 400mg. pill, I suddenly felt a sensation of vertigo as I was standing in my kitchen talking with my young daughter. This was followed by extreme dizziness. I had to lie down for the next hour and a half as I had no balance. I felt slight nausea as well. I spoke to the pharmacist on the phone and she said these symptoms were fairly common (2-5%) and I should try to continue taking the drug the next day, "if I could stomach it." It was very hard speaking to her as I was also experiencing severe confusion; it was hard to form my thoughts and to string them together into a sentence. I went to bed feeling groggy but slept okay for most of the night; only slight insomnia in the early morning hours. The next day, I felt physically and mentally disoriented; I was incapable of driving my daughter to school and my mind felt completely "zonked out of it" -- "stupid" -- like my mind was almost a blank. It's a shame because my sinuses and bronchitis felt a bit clearer already -- but I simply could not go through that experience again -- I have a life to lead and can not spend 9 more days incapacitated, lying on a couch and incapable of looking after my 4 year old daughter. I usually take medicines just fine and am not prone to side effects, so this experience took me totally by surprise.

Hi! I started NR about a year ago. I also thought it was great when I started it. It has helped me in many ways...my skin has gotten clearer....my periods are on time and the same amount of time every month (5 days). I don't get as bad cramps as I used to. There are negatives though, as with any medication. I am VERY irritable. I didn't notice until my friends told me. I am very negative and pissed off more than I used to be. This past month, I got my period, it ended and I put my new ring in on sunday. That was last Sunday. I have my period again and it started yesterday. Its very strange. Anyone have this happen?

Havew been on Topamax 6 months for FHM. Before taking it I was going unconscious(& hospitalized) every 3 weeks. It was suggested I gradually build up the topamax until taking 400mg per day. At first I got on well. I began to lose words but put up with this as my mood was better & I had no attacks but gradually this changed I became depressed, I could not think properly, prayers I had said `all my life I could not remember,I became frustrtated as I coyuld not remember simple words & names. My cognitive skills became almost non existent & then after 3 months I had an attack & then 3 weeks later another VERY bad one, When I regained consciousness I am told I was acting like a mad person trying to push away non existent people & suffering from Alice in Wonderland syndrone. This did not improve & in fact I srted suffering from every known side effect of the drug. I decided to ask if i could come off it. I was convinced it was the Topiramate causing the side effects. My Dr suggested reducing to 200mg per day. I have done this & am much better in mood & mind is much clearer. I still find difficulty with words but as I have not had any attacks i have decided to stay at 200mg for a bit though I hope in due course to reduce to 100mg per day. Has anyone tried it for FHM & whqt results? Thank you

I have been on Topamax for three weeks now. I have a genetic brain abnormality that causes severe and frequent migraines. Before being put on Topamax, I was experiencing at least one migraine a week lasting for NINE hours. They were unbearable. I am still working up to my full dosage of Topamax, but it seems to be working. My head is clearer than it has been in some time. At this point, I am experiencing some side effects including decreased appetite (though nothing that I couldn't afford to lose) and tingling in the toes and fingers. Of course these pale in comparison to the migraines that I have been rid of since I have been on the medication. I will repost later if I begin to have negative experiences.

I have been on Yasmin for almost a year now and I love it! The only side effects for me have been a clearer complexion and firmer boobs. I had some tendency towards headaches around the third and fourth month, and also am inclined to pee more, but that's it. As far as anxiety goes -- I feel that the pill actually HELPS me to stay on an 'even keel.' I say this as someone who was treated for depression continually throughout high school and college. It has done a LOT to help abate very icky seasonal affectation symptoms that I've had for years.

I am surprised by what I'm reading here but all I can say is that -- each pill effects women differently. I sypathsize with people who might have had ill effects but, if there's a class action suit, I sure as HECK hope it doesn't push the pill off the market, cause I LOVE it.

It appears that this drug played havoc with me psychologically. It caused severe depression to the point of suicidal tendencies, mood swings, crying fits and severe anger and rages. It messed up my sleep so much that I am now severely sleep deprived. And all this has been building up for like 6-9 months. I have lost sao much in the past two-three months, what I feel is the peek of the build up of this med in my system, and I believe it is due to this med. I lost my job that until recently I loved so very much, a very important person in my life and all my support systems. Everyone said I was going crazy and I believed them. I stopped taking the med for two days and already am starting to feel a bit clearer.
I found some websites, including medical ones, that say pschological side effects, though not very common, are known to happen. The very ones that occured to me.

I have been on yasmin for nearly year with a break of 2 months. I was on spironolactone for a year but my periods became erratic so I went on yasmin to try and control my acne. In the last 6 months I have started to become bloated and get stomach pain and be really gassy. This is quite constant but especially after I eat. I have a really good diet, no wheat, dairy or sugar or fizzy dronks, but still I experience pain. My skin is clearer than when I am not on it but i don't think I want to be in constant pain.
I also feel lethargic and get tired easily and have put on a bit of weight, but that's quite normal as I have PCOS, so my weight fluctuates constantly.

hey girls!!
i just read a few of the recent postings and i want you to know you are NOT alone!!! I was on yasmin for 1 month only and then got off it because it stuffed up my whle body... Ive been of it now for 1 month only and have just started to experience some of the withdrawal symptoms...
in the last 4 days ive been in hospital twice cos i had heart pulpitations and my chest felt so heavy and tight i thought i was having a heart attack!! ive head two blood tests and they have all come back clear and ive been told its just anxiety.....
but after reading that other ppl are feeling the same i feel so much better... the anxiety has worn off a little and my chest feels much clearer. We just need to give our body the time it takes to detox and get our hormones back into place...
but we will be ok!!! and the symtomps will soon get less and less and disappear all together...
good luck to everyone and best wishes for your health!! xox

Hi gals! I just wanted to give you all an update - the last month has been hectic for me, what with the holidays and early deadlines at work and all so I haven't had a chance to update since I posted in early December.

I have been completely off Yasmin for a month and a half now (give or take a few days) and I feel 100% better. My doctor wanted me to try some other BCP and I flat out told her "no way on earth will I try any more BCP!" Well she talked me into trying the Nuva-Ring for a month (stating that's it's better to have a period since I have PCOS than not to have one) so I reluctantly accepted and said I'd try it...Day 1, I kept expecting all the horrible Yasmin type symptoms to come back or the other BCP side effects that I had experienced in the past...Day 2 nothing, Day 3 and so on...nothing either.

My skin is clearer, no weight gain that I've noticed, no constant trips to the bathroom like with Yasmin,no panic attacks, and no severe moodiness, so far so good no real problems or bad side effects with the Ring, except that my period is heavier than normal and (sorry this is gross) I have to insert a new ring tomorrow morning and well my period is still here - yucko!

You might want to give the ring a try and see if it works for you.

Take care,
Shawna

I'm 22 and I took Yasmin for a year and just recently switched to LoEstrin FE 1/20. I switched because the side effects were starting to be unbearable.

My periods got super heavy - couldn't get near 2 hours without needing to change tampons and I'd never had such problems before. My cramps were just as bad if not worse. And I noticed NO difference in my skin being clearer. I started having bad headaches just about everyday along with the occasional migraine. I had absolutely no energy and was tired all the time.
I had no sex drive and having an orgasm was a task in itself.
However, my periods were regular (obviously & thank lord) and I did get a slight increase in my breast size. I did not experience any weight gain.

I honestly do believe that Yasmin caused the onset of all my 'problems' - they never occurred until about 2-3 months after I started taking Yasmin. NONE were pre-existing. I wouldn't have switched pills otherwise.
Hopefully the LoEstrin will be better in some areas. If not, I'm giving up BC Pills for good.

I love Yasmin, actually. My breasts are bigger, my skin is clearer, and my sex drive is higher! All of you people who are complaining probably had pre-existing conditions that you are blaming Yasmin for. I think you all really need to relax. I have absolutely no problems, and I've been on it a month and a half.

Yasmin is great. My breasts are bigger, and my skin is clearer. I've been on it for a month, and feel fine! I would reccomend this pill to anyone who asked me about it. I have no problems so far whatsoever. I think most of you are trying to blame the pill for other problems you most likely already had.

After reading all the posts, it is becoming clearer to me Lipitor is a poison. I started Lipitor a year ago after heart surgery. Now, a year later, instead of feeling better, I feel worse than before surgery. My whole body aches. I take 40mg. a day of Lipitor. Not any more. I am stopping the drug and replacing it with alternative herbs and suppliments. What is the point of having a very low cholesterol and not feeling better because of side effects. The pharmaceuticals and the doctors are all in bed together. We, are the results of this on this board. A lot of trusting, good people who are being gradually killed. I am over it. No more drugs for me. I am taking charge of my life now. Right, or wrong.

I have been taking ultracet for a year now,( off and on) and it makes me feel alive, everything is clearer I'm more socialable, I have more energy. It was precribed to me for back pain but it helps with other pains I suffer from also.
I know that it's wrong to take it just to feel " normal " but to me it's better than any anti depression drug I've ever taken.
The side effects; when I'm " coming down "from them I get grouchy, and I start getting depressed because I like the way they make me feel and now that feeling is waring off. I could take another one but I limit myself to 2-3 a day max
Is it so wrong to want to feel like a " normal " person, to feel full of energy, to enjoy talking to people, to want to do things beside sitting on the couch all day watching mindless TV.
When I stop taking Ultracet I have a hard time sleeping, my body feels old, I feel exhausted, and I don't feel like doing anything.

And now kinda not with it since my dr. keeps raising the doses! I'm also taking Geodon and Lamictal all high doses so belive it or not things are begining to look clearer from me eyes but I'm still unable to hold a job! But is refussed for disabilty! The trileptal has helped me this far I just have to live with the side effects!

Well, some good news... I posted below about getting bad gas and being dizzy after only 4 days using Yasmin. But now after 2 weeks those side effects have disapated. I called my gyno and she urged me to stick with it a little while longer and I did. I'm glad I did. The side effects are gone, my mood seems to be upbeat lately, and my skin is getting clearer. Hope it all lasts!

I've been on for about a month. My skin is clearer than its ever been, my sex-drive has increased and my appetite has decreased (this is definately a good thing!). I do get occasional head aches but they could be stress related, and a little spotting, but I think my body just needs to adjust. So far, I like it a lot!

I was losing weight tremendously before the Celexa..I just couldn't eat. Now my mental state of being is much more calmer and I am more happier then ever. I enjoy the food more now since I feel more relieved and calmer to eat..I am not stressed nor do I lose sleep I have no problem with that..The only problem I had at the beginning was maintaing and erection but especially ejaculation it was just not happening but I gave the pill some time and everything became normal again.I believe if you put it in your head for a long period of time you tend to believe this will happen forever..My life is calmer I think more clearer now and if anything further happens I will be more then happy to add it here to the testimonies...I do though experience that same Jerky motion that solme have had and a bit tired at spurts..But I believe its letting my brain just take the nap it has so long needed

I have taken 500mg. Levaquin once a day for 4 days. I started feeling really wierd, like I was walking through a tunnel that was closing in on me. I have joint pain and really bad leg pain below the knee. I can't seem to concentrate. I'm really hot, then I get very cold. I've noticed bruising on my legs. Last night my heart was beating fast when I was in bed. I didn't take my pill today. My head feels a bit clearer but my legs still hurt. My sinus pain isn't as bad, but it's not worth it to feel like this. I won't be taking Levaquin again. I wasn't told about the side affects.
