I am a 26 yr old newly married woman and have been using Yasmin for 7 months.
I've experienced really sharp breast pain and sore calves occasionally whilst on the pill, but also have seen benefits of using this contraceptive - lighter, more regular periods, clearer skin and less greasy hair (these use to be big problems for me). I haven't had any severe mood swings either, as some have mentioned of having.
I think with all contraceptives there will be good and bad side effects - just depends which brands you can cope better with.
Just wondering if Yasmin can cause infertility if you take it for too long??

Wow. I just have to say AMEN! I have been feeling so, so low since starting Doxy. My derma wants me on 200 mg a day for the next 6 weeks! I don't think I can do it - it's completely thrown my body out of whack. And my spirit is just so low. My God what's in this stuff? It has made dramatic improvment in my acne though - so it's tempting to stay on it and milk the benefits for as long as I can. Interesting I'm experiencing mood swings - bouts of silliness and then just a quiet low feeling that goes deep. I'm a pretty stable person mood wise. So glad I typed "Doxy and depression" into google!
Interesting, my accupuncturist says healthy digestive track promotes clearer skin and a happier outlook on life. THis stuff does exactly the opposite to my stomach. This stuff is crap!

I have been on Yasmin for about ten days. Doctor prescribed for painful periods and also promised me clearer skin. Since day 5 I have been sick to my stomach pretty much constantly, my breasts are killing me, and I cannot sleep. After stumbling across this site, after another sick, sleepless night, I have decided to quit taking Yasmin today. I was going to try and gut it out for awhile to see if symptoms improved, but it does not sound like that will happen - and I don't want this to get worse! My husband does not understand how severely I am being affected by this. Thank goodness I found this board!

I've been taking Yasmine for about a month now. I've been unable to take other pills because they seem to make me incredibly b_tchy. Not good for a happy-go-lucky person. So far, the good effects are: noticeably clearer skin, no weight gain. The bad effects: my first period was extremely heavy, and my arms and legs cramp, and I can't fall asleep at a normal hour. One thing I was wondering: has anyone else had swollen hands that itch like mad, or itchy legs?

finished my first week of pills today, things that i've noticed are an occasional upset stomach, clearer skin, weight loss of about 2 lbs, which i am positive that i gained while on ortho-cycline, afternoon fatigue (i take my pill in the morning), slightly more moody than i was on ortho-cycline, but i think that's due to the fact that my body is adjusting to a new horomone. overall, i think that this pill will be very good for me.

I have been on Yasmin for about 1 1/2 years. It has cleared my skin incredibly, but I don't know if my clearer skin has to do with the fact that I am older and done with that stage in life. On a bad note, my boob, hips, and legs have grown incredibly! This bloating is bothering the heck out of me. I went from a size 2 to a size 6 over the course of 6 months! I don't know whether to quit taking it and risk breaking out, but being my skinny usual self or have clear skin and deal with all the bloating. Which would you prefer?

I started taking Yasmin about a year ago with little to no side effects besides lower libido and clearer skin.
However lately I have had dizziness, headaches and blurred vision which I think could be related to taking this pill. I have been skipping every second period, which could also be a cause but my doctor said that it is okay to have your period once every three months...
About 6mnths in I started having the side effects which seemed like pregnancy (which must have been cause by the pill) that were scary and made me too paranoid to stop taking the pill and I didn't think to try a different one.
I'm going to stop taking Yasmin now because I'd do anything to stop feeling like I'm always ready to faint and can't see properly... could it really be this pill??
