I had the Mirena IUD inserted in September 2007... BIG MISTAKE! I paid $550.00 for the stupid IUD & another 225.00 for doctor fees!!
Okay here's my story.. I have three children, 26 yrs old, married, 120/122 pounds.. can stay in shape/get in shape easily, happy, VERY short 3-4 day periods.. BEFORE Mirena..
Now.. its been 7 weeks.. And even though I keep to the same diet, I have gained 8 pounds! I have been on a period & constantly spotting for 15 DAYS~ oh yeah.. AND bad, bad, bad, BLOATING!! Yesterday I had Severe Cramps- my doctor is out of town so the nurse actually called in muscle relaxers to help with the pain.. I was in TEARS yesterday. I NEVER EVER had menstrual cramps before.... to make things worse..I am so moody & I hate my quick temper. I have never had acne, but now I get a few spots.. not so bad, but I shouldn't have any. I feel like I don't have control over my body.

My appointment is for this Thursday.. I am getting this thing removed, so I can return to normal!

Before getting this awful thing ( which hurts when inserted & bad cramps afterward) I was using NuvaRing for two months.. I did not have any of these bad side effects with NuvaRing... I am going to try that again.

IN SHORT.. I PAID over $800.00 for severe cramping, 15 day long periods, constant spotting, brown discharge, EXTREME BLOATING, huge weight gain, and acne!! WHAT?!? I want a refund!!

I have been on Trivora for 2 1/2 months since they switched me from orth tri-cyclen. Since I have been on these pills I notice that it breaks me out in a rash. The last week of pills that I don't take, my rash clears up, but soon as I start another pack of pills the same thing occurs. And recently it left a rash around my mouth and neck. I hate it, I want my ortho tri- cyclen back. Has anyone else had these symptoms?

I was recently prescribed this medication for a UTI. I have taken this medicine a few times before. Honestly, I have NOT experienced any side effects from it. It always successfully clears up whatever issue I have that it was prescribed for without incident. If you experience any of the side effects everyone else here seems to be having, I would suggest talking to your doctor and switching to a different medication. Allergic reactions are quite common to this medicine. When you take it, you should hardly notice anything at all besides that your symptoms are improving. Any other reaction should be dealt with immediately. Don't go cold turkey though! Just talk to your doctor and find another option.

I have been taking Topamax since 2002 for migraines. I started out slow with 25mg at night for a week then 50, 75 then 100mg after one month. The following week I was suppose to start 25mg in the morning. I received headaches from that. I only stick with 100mg at night and have not suffered from a migraine since. Unless I am hung over. I did get the tingling in my hands and now I hate soda. Which to me is a good thing for all the sugar it has in it. However, when my script runs out and it takes me two or more days for a refill, I get extremely sick. Must be a withdrawel thing. So do not miss more than one day.

I had it inserted in June of 2005 by my family doctor. I couldn't believe how painful the insertion was -- I nearly passed out and afterwards I had to call for someone to pick me up and take me home. At first I had some irregular bleeding but this stopped after two or three months. Aside from the occaisional spotting, I was thrilled to find that I no longer got my period! I haven't had any problems with moodiness, whereas when I was on the pill I was very depressed. I do notice that I feel bloated a lot. I've been having problems with my skin (scarring acne on my chin, chest and back) and this is driving me crazy because I used to have absolutely perfect skin! I saw a doctor today about the acne and he prescribed anti-acne medication... but now I'm thinking I'd rather just get this IUD removed and see if it clears up on it's own...

I started taking Lisinopril in October of last year and at first I thought it was great. It reduced my blood pressure significantly and stopped my migraines and stopped my ankles and hands swelling. However, in January of this year I started to experience very painful, itchy swollen eyelids and a general feeling of itichiness all over my face and neck. As I have suffered from eczema on and off for years, though never on my face, I put it down to that. The itching and redness does respond to steroid creams and antihistamines a little and it clears up for a while, but then is back with a vengance a few days later. It's very embarrassing and I have to stop wearing make-up when it's bad. I've only just realised after six months of this that it could be the Lisinopril. I've also had a bit of a dry cough but not enough to really bother me. However, whilst making breakfast one morning this week I nearly fainted so now after reading everyone's experiences on this website I really think I need to visit my doctor and have my medication changed. Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this site - it's really helped me to know about the side effects of Lisinopril.

I've been on Toprol for about a year or so. I have had severe weight gain also while barely eating much. I had high bp to start and the cardiologist told me to lose weight and I'd be fine. But he gave me Toprol and things went from bad to worse. I too have been living in a fog, just super tired, my bp now has been around 40 and low 50s. I'm totally exhausted doing nothing more than walk thru my house. Work has been a nightmare, I do alot of walking and bending. I have been sweating terribly also. My hair will be wringing wet. My new cardiologist said that all my synptoms could be from the Toprol so he cut me to 1/2 dose for 4 days and 1/4 for the next 4 and then off of it. Within one day, I don't feel exhausted or hard to breathe either. I feel about 80% better in one day. I'm definitely not going to take it again. I wouldn't say I was really depressed but just didn't have any energy to do anything, even work. Come home and drop on the sofa and not get up. I feel like a weight has been lifted and I hope my mind clears up also. Sometimes I can't seem to remember anything from one minute to the next. Physically I feel alot better and can't wait to get off it totally. My low bp was the result of the Toprol I guess.

I have been prescribed sulfameth/trimethoprim for frequent urinary tract infections, and even after the fourth time taking it now, I have yet to notice any abnormal side effects. I am also on birth control pills. I know how an allergic reaction is for me (I am allergic to pennicilin and broke out in a HORIBBLE rash all over my face last year), and I haven't experienced anything even approaching an adverse reaction, plus my infection clears up within the first couple of days.

I started taking Singulair 2 years ago because I had trouble breathing when I lay flat down to sleep at night. My doctor thinks it may be asthmatic allergy symptoms, but he can't explain why it's only when I lay down. Anyways, I had never had a nosebleed in my life until I started taking it, and now I get them almost every other day. Sometimes as soon as I wake up and roll over in the morning blood will pour out of my nose. Many a pillow case has been ruined because of this. I never had nasal allergy problems, but since Singulair clears the nasal passages too, it is making my nose way too dry and causing bad nosebleeds.

I have just started NuvaRing 2 weeks ago after having wanted to try it for some time. I have been on tons of different bcps, Norplant (which I LOVED) and most recently, the patch (which I hated - it was so nasty, fibers from clothing stick onto the adhesive, the edges quickly become filthy looking, and sometimes lift, making me question the effectiveness). So I loved the idea of the ring. Within a couple of days the excessive discharge began. Then the second week I am experiencing some vaginal irritation, possibly the beginning of a UTI? I am going to ride it out for a few mos if I can and see if the irritation clears up. It seems like the most convenient thing out there. I have not experienced any other sides, when my most recent bcps resulted in nausea.

Hi,

I was placed on 40mg first 2 days then down to 30mg for the next 2 days and continued lowering dosage until pills ran out in 8 days total. I have a stubburn sinus infection that's been on going for 3 months now. After starting the prednisone, my face was very red and my neck became stiff and bloated. Headaches followed with terrible indigestion and sleepless nights. Sinus is not much better for all this trouble. I have been off for 3 days now and still feel really lousy with continued headaches and swollen neck. Hope this clears up soon.

I love stahist. I have had no problems other than the cost. I wish there was a generic. Nothing else clears up my symptoms (runny nose, tickle throat, sneezing, stuffiness, etc) not clarinex, allegraD, nor zyrtec. this med is great and I'd recommend it to anyone.

This is my first day without Yasmin. I still feel sluggish and dizzy. I don't expect to feel better over night.

This board is so helpful to me. I am actually waiting to hear back from my doc to see if we can wait until the Yasmin clears from my system before I go to a psychiatrist and a cardiologist as she advised.

I have a weird pain behind my left ear for over a month now. I hope it goes away.

Has anyone tried MIRENA? The gyn said that the hormones stay in the uterus and not in the bloodstream. I am so leery.

Thank you ladies!

Oh boy! I took my last Yasmin yesterday.
I was out with my daughter today and suddenly felt very faint. There was a slight tightness on the left side of my neck then... BAM, I felt faint. I pulled myself together and went right home. It was like an anxiety attack but a little different.

I really hope tthese weird things all start to subside once my body realizes that I am done with Yasmin. I am in my mid 30's and I think that my body has changed since giving birth in 2004. Childbirth coupled with the Yasmin, I think I made a bad mix (funky hormones).

I pray that the Yasmin clears out of my system and I can get back to being myself again.
I never had this problem when I was in my early 30's, had a baby and on ortho tricyclen post-partum.
I am done with the pill, at least for a while. The doc suggested a good cleanout of the hormones in my bloodstream.
thanks for all of your posts. I know now that I am not alone.

3 year old son, prescribed this med, due to possible allergic reaction last spring, with Amoxicilian, for a sinus infection, this year for ear infection. Took his last dose today, of 10 doses, began with a temp, yesterday of 102.4 (spike), and noticing, daily, cheeks getting progressively red, today the worst and still fever. Looks like an allergic reaction also, and I'm seeing the beginning signs of small red dots on his trunk, also increased urination, with hot and cold sweats. I'm hoping this clears up now that he's finished the Sulphameth, another red alert.

hey
i've been taking yasmin for five months, and in the last three months i've noticed that by breasts did seem to be bigger and a little tender. However i also noticed that i started deveolping an allergic reaction - my skin would get these red patches and start to itch liek crazy. it startedmainly on my breasts and in the last two weeks it has started showing up on the rest of my body. When i take allergy medication, it clears up, but of course returns in 12 hours.
Does anyone think this could be related to the yasmin? has anyone had symptoms like these?

I have been searching the web for side effects to this antibiotic & found this site. My 20 month old daughter has also experienced the big itchy bumps all over her body & brick red stools from this medication. I have been told this is an allergic reaction & to use benedryl until everything clears up. I have also been told the red stools can be GI bleeding & if it is it will be mucasy or have red blood streaks in it & that it is very serious if so. I got my info from nurses & doctors over the telephone. I had planned to take my baby to the ER just to relieve my own worries, but after reading all the other people that had the same reaction I will just watch her closely. I would like to hear from those of you that have dealt with this reaction in your babies & how long it lasts & the ending results from this medication.
Thanks :)

I'm 42, female and I understand the acne part of taking pred. Mine is getting better. I've got 3 or 4 sizes of clothes due to taking pred. for the 4 yrs. I'm slowly getting into the smaller ones. I'm finally down to large and medium. Takes a while. Plain ole' ivory soap is great for the acne. Dries it up and clears it faster. God Bless...........

My cousin has been on Advair for 6 months. Now the doctor has found something wrong with her chest x-ray - an oddity in her lung. She has had a PET scan done, but no results yet. This was not there prior to being on Advair and she is wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience. She is now off Advair, and anxious to see if her lung clears up. She also experiences many of the other side effects the others mention here - hoarseness to the point of being unable to talk, weakness etc. I read about Cushings disease that Advair evidently can bring on, and wonder if that is what is affecting her.

Can I just say how relieved I am to find out that I'm not the only one having horrid nightmares. Never in my life have I experienced such wicked nightmares. I even tried a personal experiment. I tried not taking Singulair for a night in which I had dreams but not nightmares. Last night I took Singulair and just had a terrifying nightmare that lasted for 6 hours. I tell all it clears away the allergies but get ready to deal with some serious nightmares. My nightmares started the day I started taking it. Not to mention I've also had some intestinal pain. Get off the Singulair now!
