Well, I haven't had any side effects with omeprazole, but I just got home from my gastro doctor who prescribed what he called a slightly stronger version of Prilosec, and they filled my prescription with omeprazole, and reading all of these postings I don't think I will be taking it until I call back and have a conversation with him. Last August I was diagnosed with acid reflux/anxiety and was given a prescription of ranitidine wich I tolerated and which is in Zantac anyway, which I also tried....I was also prescribed clonazepam for my anxiety which has helped. My main annoyance when this all started was a slight shortness of breath, went to the ER two days in a row, they did EKG's and found some spikes that they thought were unusual and made me an appointment to have a stress test with a cardiologist....all of which came back normal....
I have been back and forth to my regular GP. He says my heart and chest are fine, breathing is fine. I have taken everything you can think of over-the-counter from Mylanta to Zantac, but Pepcid seems to help the most...anyway, to make a long story short, the last time I went to my GP I explained I was still having the constant belching all day, the spitting up, not a lost of reflux, mostly liquid, and he gave me a coupon for a new drug called Kapidex....
It is similar to this omeprazole I believe as it is a time-release capsule.
With Kapidex, you get the release of the proton pump inhibitor, then 4 or 5 hours later the release of a medicine that is supposed to work toward healing any EE that might have occurred with the reflux...I took 1 capsule and felt so wiped out I decided not to continue it, couldn't take it and work a mid-day shift as well, but there were no other side effects to it, and I checked online and people had mostly positive things to say about it, so I might call him and see if I can get a lower milligram dosage of it as he started me off with 60 mill.
Glad I got on here and found this web site with people posting their experiences with omeprazole before I actually took one. I am going to call my doctor back and inform him or someone of all the horror tales I have come across on this web site.
I had two gastric tests, a barium swallow and x-rays and a stomach ultra sound....what they found was a bit of GERDS in my upper digestive tract, but it is nothing I can't tolerate so far compared to the horrible experiences I have read here....I hate to take any medications, but I think I will stick with my Pepcid and my clonazepam until I talk to my gastroenterologist again...
I hope everyone is well....

Hi ! I'm French and bipolar 2 rapid cylcing (every 2/3 months for about 3 weeks each taking anafrani)l. I'm 50 years old and I had lithium for many years. Since July I have lamictal. It's very recent in France and my doctor doesn't know if my problem to sleep I get since I have lamictal will go away or not and if lamictal is responsible.
I describe the problem : I have difficulty to get asleep, I wake up during the night and I wake up very early in the morning even if i go to bed late. So I'm obliged to go to bed before 10 pm. It's very hard but since I take lamictal I had no down since September (6 months it's wonderful for me)
I only had some variations during the day at the beginning but it seems to be better. I feel really better than with lithium. But there is this problem of sleeping. In France nobody could answer to me and my doctor told me to go on internet with USA of Canada where you use for long time lamictal. Do you know something about that and do you know if it can be better after a few month more ?
Could you please answer me here or on my email : ******
Thanks a lot in advance and sorry for my bad English. I hope you will understand me.
Kind regards
N.

I am bipolar and have ADHD, i started with wellbutrin, then zoloft, and then divalproex sodium. I am now on celexa and clonazepam. The very first day I took celexa I felt wonderful, and now the good feeling wears off in the afternoon, so my doctor upped my dosage 10mg. Some of the symptoms I have read here sound like type 2 diabetes to me, I was just diagnosed with that. Best thing is to no stay on a med that does not make you feel good, by all means go back to your doctor or change doctors, you see doctors are not pharmacists, and we are the guinea pigs until they get it right. Best of wishes to all of you, and take care.

I just recently switched from Divalproex 'Sodium to Celexa, and I take Clonazepam with it. The very first day with celexa I felt wonderful. The Divaproex was giving me rage attacks, and bad ones too. Some of the symptoms you guys have described sounds like symptoms from type 2 diabetes, which I just found out I have. Celexa for me works, I have been on Wellbutrin, Zoloft, and Divalproex. Eventually I hope to be off all the medicine I am on. Weight problem along with all this medicine is a big cause of stress, anxiety, and fatigue. I do have the sexual problem, I have been prescribed Lavitra but have not started taking it yet.

After 3 months of the lupron, I decided to stop taking it. Within the first week of the first shot, I was having side effect. I have never been physically or mentally violent. I was blowing up at my boyfriend. I couldn't control my anger, and I didn't care. It got so bad that my boyfriend was considering moving out. So I went to my family doctor and he put me on zoloft, clonazepam, and propranolol for the mood swings, hot flashes, and temper. Also I wouldn't sleep through the night without waking up due to hot flashes. I haven't taken the shot in two months and the pain is coming back. I had no sex drive while I was on the shot and still really don't. I'm not really sure what to do next. The shot does relieve the pain, but the side effects are just overwhelming.

My doctor prescribed seroquel to me for my severe anxiety. I took one b/f bed and woke up feeling horrible. I could barely get myself out of bed, I was foggy brained and lethargic. I thought it would pass so I went about my morning routine, when finally it hit me I couldn't take it any longer. And it resulted in a Full blown panic attack!!!! I took my clonazepam and eventually after sleeping for a bit, felt better.
I threw the pills in the garbage, I will NEVER take them again. I'm so scared to try anything new, b/c of what happened after taking seroquel. However I'm running out of options:(

Hi. I went on Lamictal April 2007 after being diagnosed w/ BiPolar. The key issue that brought me to the psychiatrist to begin with was acute depression following a divorce, move cross country, losing my job and my only son going off to college. All the big stress factors - short of death in family. Nonetheless, I was nervous that one year after all these crises that I was, if anything, feeling worse. I had been able to handle all the changes during them, but now that they were over all I wanted to do was sleep all day.... Anyway, I had been on Paxil for years re anxiety, and my psychiatrist decided to keep my on the Paxil till I tolerated the Lamictal, then get me off the Paxil..... Well, the 20 mg of Paxil and the 100 mg of Lamictal worked great, I thought; the Lamictal really raised the bottom.... BUT, apparently Paxil fuels mania, so after a few months, I was taken off the Paxil completely and my Lamictal went up to 200 mg. Almost IMMEDIATELY upon going to 200 mg Lamictal my ankles / feet / legs got enormously swollen. Plus, I noticed that my hair started to fall out // thin out.... Plus -- and I don't know if this is the Lamictal or the absence of the Paxil, but I sob uncontrollably almost 24/7. The sobbing and anxiety and sense of dread and sadnessness has persisted even when the Lamictal was dropped to 100 mg and the shrink added first Clonazepam .5 mg, then when that wasn't calming me, changed me to 1mg Xanax -- each as needed. The Xanax isn't helping me either, and now I also feel paranoid. So, in short: Lamictal at 200 mg makes my feet / ankles / legs swell or suffer edema; Lamcital as low as 100 mg makes my hair thin out; and either the Lamictal or the loss of the Paxil or these anti-anxieity meds (Clonazepam or Xanax) are making me paranoid, profoundly sad and depressed, panicked, anxious, stressed out and, most urgently, make me sob uncontrollably 24/7... My shrink says that we should use anti-depressants with bipolar, and that Paxil fuels the mania, but I tell you, I'd rather be manic and screaming at everyone than so depressed that I'm fearful and sobbing constantly.... Any answers out there: Any anti-depressants for your bipolar?

After taking Topamax for six months, I found my self different person.... I started feeling this way just in the first few weeks after I started the medication, but the simptoms incleased with the time....Anxiety, nervousness, panick attacks, negative thinking and depression....crying, making up problems from nothing, hair loss also....I decided to stop it, slowly and without any concequences I thought I am out of it....But just a couple weeks I stop it is I noticed some red spots on my skin on the lower legs, soon they became more and stronger..... Two months later I was in abnormal stress that I am going to be sick from a terrible desease... Read so much on Internet.... I can explain how terrible I felt and even though I did blood tests (everything was in normal range!!) and spoke with so many doctors, nobody could tell me what exactly is wron with me. One Dermatologist named the skin problem as Progressive Pigmentary purpura and gave me a cream for that. Thanks a lot for that because the spots started desapearing, but it may come again.... nobody knows for sure.... I think this is another side effect of Topamax, that nobody had before..... Please tell me if somebody else had the same situation... I will feel much more relieved....

I've recently been on Effexor for over 8 years. The reason I started taking Effexor is cuze 8 years ago my Dr. told me I had a severe panic attack. These 'Panic attacks' would lead me to have seizure like symptoms where I actually passed out, twitched & convulsed. When I came to again, I wouldn't remember anything or who some people were. long story short, they put me on this drug, also with Clonazepam. It worked for a while. After a few years, weird symptoms would come back & they'd 'up' my dose. After just over 8 years my 'attacks' came back. By this time, they 'upped' my dose to 300mg. I thought they were crazy, but agreed to try. Nothing was working, I was having these seizure like attacks every 2 weeks & I have two small children to take care of! I demanded an answer this time! I needed them to run tests, try new meds, ANYTHING! I was desperate..I knew they weren't 'Panic attacks' They found something from results that were taken from my Cat Scan. It's called Septum Pellucidum & it's absent in my brain. I have no idea what it does, but if it's absent in someone's brain, it causes seizures! Yeah! They finally found the real problem..I have Partial Complex Seizures. I've had these all along. I have been on the wrong med's for 8 years now!! I'm on a new drug for seizures called Divelproex & it's awesome so far. I'm weaning my way off the Hellish Effexor. From dose 300mg to 187.5mg, it was good, than to 187.5mg to 150mg was good also. I went down from 150mg to 122.5mg & that also surprisingly was not too bad. A couple head waves here & there. I'm now going from 122.5mg to 75mg & that's been the hardest! It's been day 5 & I'm struggling. I know it will only get better once i'm completely off! It's just sooo hard right now!! I also wanted to add that Effexor can cause Seizures!! Please reply if you have any idea's that will make this better or just to say what you've been through.

I started taking Lamictal about six weeks ago for epilepsy. Now keep in mind, I was on Dilantin which worked great for 17 years and then suddenly stopped working. I have been in medication hell since then. First Topamax made me dumb as a rock. I would space out all the time. Worst drug ever. Then Keppra which was better in that my memory/ability to speak came back but I had these intense ups and down. I had rages constantly. Now I'm on Lamictal. So far, it's better than the Topamax and the Keppra, however the dreams are very intense as are the night sweats. I'm also experiencing much hair loss. Fortunately I have a full head of hair but I'm afraid I will eventually lose it all.

I am on 10 mg. of paxil and have been on it for about 4-5 years. I would like to come off but am worried about all these crazy withdrawal symptoms everyone talks about. I have gone as many as 3 nights without takiing any and never experienced "jolts", maybe a little jittery and confused. I am thinking about doing 7.5 mg. for about a month, then go down to 5 for a month, then 2.5 for a month.

I hear all these stories and wonder if the people who have all these bad withdrawls were on high does and if they weaned themselves off.

PLEASE HELP.

Thanks.

I am also experiencing hair loss and have been on Topamax about 2 months. I had no idea this was a side effect. I initially lost weight which was wonderful, but then my weight dipped so low my family and friends thought I was anorexic. I was finally wearing a size 3 pants. I normally am in size 8's. I am on it for bi-polar and to help with binge-eating. But I cannot deal with the hair loss. I don't think that being skinny is worth losing my hair for. No other meds have helped my depressive moods without making me gain weight and at this point I just don't want to take any drugs. I would rather try some therapy...that has become less common. The doctors just want to give you a pill now-a-days.

On Tegretol for bipolar. My wife feels my BP is improved. I only note improved in my manic side. Depressive side still unpleasant and dangerous. When started and when dosing changed, I had grogginess, with abated after a few few. Am on many meds, Haldol and clonazepam (for Tourette's) and lithium and now Tegretol (for bipolar), and feel this combination of meds has resulting in debilitating sexual dysfunction. Do not believe E.D. caused by any one med, but by the combination. Do not know what to do about this as I need this meds. Ain't life fun?

I am currently restarting Lamictal for my bipolar disorder. I was on it for about a year and gained 15lbs. I started feeling very depressed about my weight. I was very fatigued and would take naps every day and sleep all though the night. I didn't have a whole lot of energy. My husband and I are wanting to have children so I discontinued Lamictal for the reason and because I thought it was making me depressed. However, after having Lamictal fully out of my system I realized that I was having a depressive episode that got worse because I wasn't on my Lamictal. I am not starting Lamictal again and I am going for a higher dosage now since I am in a depressive episode. As far as weight gain goes, my doctor is also putting me on Topamax which I start this evening. It could possibly counteract the weight gain issue.

I am also on a vitamin regime to help with my mood and Clonazepam for anxiety attacks.

My son and I have both taken Welbutrin. I didn't really notice a lot of side effects. I know that it did not effect my sex drive which other meds did. I lost weight, lost interest in drinking alcohol, lost interest in smoking. Had more energy,
My son has had some different things happen to him. He gets real sharpe headache pains in the left top of his head. They come and go away within about 30 seconds. Has anyone ever had that problem? He tried getting off of the meds and experenced all these body pains. It drove him nuts so he went back on welbutrin. The body pains have gone away, but the head pains came back. The doctor said the head pains would go away if he took his meds regular.

I was prescribed Lisinopril for pre-hypertension at 10 mg a day. I've only taken it for 2 days and have felt so sluggish and tired but revved up on the inside at the same time. Had a headache too last night and blurry vision. It does work in lowering the BP though. Last night I felt as if I couldn't take deep breaths to relax myself and then I started having shaking chills and tingling in the hands and feet. Thought I was having a panic attack so I took my clonazepam. Then I felt like I'd have to throw up or go to the bathroom to get relief. The clonazepam kicked in after about an hour and knocked me out, but I still woke up a few hours later still feeling extremely anxious even though the clonazepam was still in my system (I take it twice a day for panic attacks) along with Lexapro for depression/generalized anxiety. I'm refusing to take any more of this drug. I will lose weight and exercise and eat healthy just to avoid this drug.

I was prescribed Clonazepam for anxiety about 3 months ago coupled with a generic version of zooloft. I am definately starting to feel insane. My head aches at random times. I do still drink and smoke leafy substances, which i know is not recomended, but I am still in college and I feel sometimes like its the only way to meet ppl, drinking/partying, especially in places where there isn't much else. I want to get off the drug, but I am so afraid of the side effects. I don't really feel better on it. because I like having energy, I am a spunky girl and it takes away my spunk. I just wanna know how to function in society. I get nervous around new ppl, especially bosses/or anyone in my field, if I don't take the drug, but I can't even really tell if it is helping. At first it was fine, but now my head hurts all over/ headache. I forget things, which may be the sertraline, but regardless I want to get off of it. I feel more insane now than I did before.

I have been taking Lisinopril (5mg) daily along with atenolol (25mg) daily more than three years ago. I had a host of sysmptoms such as extreme fatigue, itching, shortness of breath, dizziness, numb fingers, etc. My doctor put me on this regiment after i had to stents put in my heart. I didn't have a bp problem. I had a coleterol problem, but she said i would need to be on these meds fo the rest of my life. I was ruched to hospital when i couldn't get my breath. I was told i was suffering from depression and anxiety and put on Clonazepam and Citalopram. This only added to my fatigue and i have had sexual side affects to boot now. Before i took Lisinopril i was playing softball and spending time with my children. Now all i want to do is sleep and no matter how much sleep i get it is not enough. I want my life back!!! After reading your posts i have decided to stop taking all the meds and hopefully find the person i once was. Thank you all for opening my eyes. I am not crazy after all.

I have been taking it at 2mg per day now for 2 days. Fatigue, lightheadedness, inability to think clearly, mild tremors in fingers and forearms. Am coming off of Klonopin (clonazepam) which I was at 3mg per day after starting out at .5mg on April 20th, 2007. I am using both concurrently with the new EMSAM patch at 9mg/24hr. Think I am going to discontinue the Gabitril and take the next step (pdoc said that it would likely be Lamictal).

HI ALL! I am back! I tried to stay away from this site and just not think about my problems at all....but yet..this site helps me so much! Just an update: I have been off of Yasmin 15 months now. Physically, I look great and am in pretty good shape. Mentally, I am STILL fighting the anxiety. My symptoms are weakness, vomiting (always in the morning), nervousness enough to make me crazy although no panic attacks anymore, sleepiness, and minor aches and pains in head and muscles. Sometimes I have trouble sleeping as well due to the nervousness. I take Clonazepam occasionally (not very often at all), and exercise as much as I can stand. I recently went back to the doctor for the vomiting and nervousness and they also gave me Lexapro. I was also terrified of it. I was so disappointed they gave me something like that, I actually BECAME depressed over having to take it. Needless to say, it is still sitting on the counter unopened. If you are taking Lexapro, is it helping you???? Please let me know! Would you start taking something like that when you have already been off 15 months (although anxiety is low grade, it is constant!)?

Yes, the Clonazepam stops the panic, but it is NOT good for the general anxiety...it basically just knocks me out (very tired, weak, sick feeling). I am now hiking with my dog every day to burn it off by suggestion of my doctor. As I start walking I feel so weak sometimes I am afraid I will not make it back to the house, HOWEVER as I continue to walk the feeling eventually goes away (I carry my cell phone for security..although I really know I will not need to use it)! The more I walk, the better I feel! I have also found that no matter how deathly sick I feel, if I can just GET OUT OF BED, the feelings eventually go away throughout the day. I avoid all negative influences (movies, news, negative people) and spend a lot of time at church working on building my faith...it has helped me survive all this.

I am now on day 9 of my cycle and my recent "spell" seems to be over. I am 28 years old and this was my first experience with BCP. I never had ANY health problems before. Good news is, my test results have all come back.... my pap smear, blood work, and urine work all came back NORMAL. (I had a year of abnormal pap tests also. I had a yeast infection about every week!) It took a YEAR to get everything to come back clear again. I am not taking any medication regularly at this time.

The Vitamin B Complex does make me a little jumpy, but I have found I can work it off through some kind of cardiovascular exercise. In general I am feeling MUCH better. Just start out slowly every day, eat healthy food (no caffeine/alcohol, I carry apples, celery, and peanut butter with me everywhere), and KEEP MOVING. I also have some Valerian capsules and tea. "Celestial Seasonings" makes a tea called "Sleepytime" which has Valerian in it....seems to work pretty well.

All in all, my faith, my fellow women on this site, and a supportive husband has helped me through this disaster. It will only make you stronger in the end. God bless Medications.com for having this site! I feel it saved my life. I am praying for all of you...HANG IN THERE.

Hi everyone:

I have not been here for awhile but after reading a couple of things, I thought I'd post some hope. I went through the Yasmin nightmare and the even worse Yasmin withdrawal nightmare. (Migraine, panic disorder, aches & pains). Funny how all these women taking the same birth control pill end up on Clonazepam! I was on it, too. And I had never had anxiety issues before!

Here's the good news... I have been off Yasmin since February. My regular cycle has been restored. I no longer have to take the clonazepam. You are not crazy and things will get better.

andiegags,
I am exactly the same way! I cannot function until a little after noon during midcycle. I am taking the same amount of Clonazepam as you only during the morning of my midcycle to stop the dizzy/faint/weak/shaky feeling. Mine usually goes away after I take the med. Clonazepam (when needed) and a multivitamin are ALL I am now taking.

two girls mom...I have the same thing, except mine only happens when I wake up first thing in the morning. do you have it other times during the day too and did you have it before going on the effexor? I'm not on any medication, just a small .25mg of clonazepam every night...my doctor said it could be that my hormones are extra sensitive to my body's "wake up chemicals"...also has anyone noticed that after going off yasmin your sleep cycle is different? I wake up every morning now between 7 and 8 am...I'm a college student and used to sleep till 11 or 12 on the weekends.

Sophie,
You sound EXACTLY like me. In fact, I am 11 months off and so nervous/dizzy on day 12 of my cycle that I had to call someone to come stay with me. I MUST go to work, but I am so weak I am afraid to drive. I also have vision problems...pretty severe first thing in the morning. I am only 28 years old, and the doctors put me on Clonazepam for these moments. There is really nothing else they have done for me...none of the three doctors I have seen have even done blood tests. I think they have seen all this before. I have been 3 or 4 months without taking anything, but now it seems to have flared up again :( (Does the high temperatures have anything to do with this?) I was VERY scared just this morning, so I know how you feel. Hang in there...I will pray for you too. I promise it will get better.
