I got my Mirena IUD (5yr) inserted on 30September2009 and it was very painful. Probably because im only 19 and my husband and i have no kids. Its not 21November2009 and im still having heavy bleeding. I did notice that i had an increase in hair loss, my hair sheds like crazy but until Mirena it is coming out in very small clumps. I also noticed that my face has broke out more with acne. Around 01November2009 i had HORRIBLE HORRIBLE cramps, i ended up going to my doctors asap and they found a cyst. I dont know if it was a cyst caused my the Mirena or if it was only noticeable until the Mirena. I had my doctor go in and check for my strings and she couldn't find them, so i got an xray to find out the my Mirena has shifted a bit and my strings are now up in my Cervix. My husband is in the Army and is Deployed so i dont know how sex it. Everyone's information has helped me out a lot. and i hope that my long crazy journey has helped someone as well. :)

SIX HOURS POST REMOVAL- I had my mirena removed today after 3 years and nearly 3 months. My side effects included headaches, sore breasts, weight gain, nausea, severe hair loss, depression, severe pitting edema of my right foot, cramping, hip pain, exhaustion, severe mood swings, and acne. During the first six months I had constant bleeding, which I had been told to expect. I took regular pills everyday and the bleeding stopped. Then the hair loss started. My hair came out in clumps and was EVERYWHERE. I lost about 15 inches of my hair in spots. I went to the salon and got a fantastic hair cut, I attributed my hair loss to stress. Now I'm not too sure. I also didn't feel like I was myself with the odor that I developed. No matter how many times I showered I felt not regular. Slowly but surely over the past three years I have gained 30 lbs. I worked out to try to get the weight off, I lost nothing and in fact gained weight! The pitting edema of my left foot started in July of 08. I have been tested for everything including diabetes, heart problems, clotting disorders, pregnancy, high blood pressure, kidney problems, and the list goes on to the tune of $6,000. I went to my OB back in the spring and was told if they could find nothing else then they would remove the IUD. In the interim I lost my job and subsequently my insurance. I luckily was able to get coverage again and immediately set an appointment for the removal. Insertion hurt like nothing I have ever experience, removal was quick and almost painless. I also ended up with BV (bacterial vaginosis). I feel and look as though I am about 6 or 7 months pregnant. My belly is actually the same size as it was when my son was born. I weight about 15 lbs more. My breasts were extremely swollen and sore.

I instantly felt better after removal. My hip immediately stopped tingling. I have no back pain. It felt almost like a lifting if that makes sense. I am curious to see what the next few weeks will bring and I will definitely keep you all posted.

I'm partial to Mirena. I had it for all 5 years, but still debate as to whether my weight gain, hair loss and joint pain were related. I got it shortly before my boyfriend of 2 years broke up with me, starting drinking a bit more and was in general stressed out. So stress & alcohol equals weight gain. Weight gain (30 lbs in a year) equals joint pain. The hair loss is another story. It might be stress, but I went long periods afterward without stress and I could pull out rat size clumps of hair once every few weeks from my shower drain. I had it removed on October 6th 2009. I immediately started NuvaRing. 3 weeks later, I'm DONE with that. That's another story. Overall, though, I don't think the majority of the side effects were caused by Mirena and the 5 years I had it in were good. I won't get another one, just because I'm still skeptical. I think I'm going to take some time off birth control with hormones. We'll see how it goes. I can't say I'd recommend Mirena due to all of the horror stories I've read. Maybe in a year, if all my symptoms go away, I won't be so wishy washy.

Loestrin 24 Fe has been nothing but a nightmare for me. I was on Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo for about a year (originally prescribed for a sudden, random outbreak of HORRIBLE chin acne), and started noticing depression, mood swings, very heavy periods, and severe stomachaches and indigestion problems about nine months into it. I had to switch doctors in order to get off of it...I was seeing a male doctor who thought that my side effects were "in my head" and wanted me to take 5000 blood tests before he'd switch my prescription. My new doctor prescribed Loestrin 24 Fe during my first visit with her.

The first month of my new pill was great; no mood swings, no depression, no issues...I even dropped five pounds, even though the Ortho hadn't given me a problem with weight gain. I didn't get my period until the second day of the new pill pack though, and it was VERY light. I took a pregnancy test that came out negative, even though my husband and I had used back-up methods the first month of the pills to be safe. One week into the second month of my Loestrin pills, everything went crazy. It's been three weeks and not only is my chin AND my forehead completely broken out, but my hair is falling out in clumps when I wash or brush it, I am completely depressed and unhappy with life, I am exhausted beyond belief, AND I have gained a total of TWELVE POUNDS. I am a very physically fit girl...I eat right, I have always had a very fast metabolism, I have been a size 0/1 for years, I work all day and am on the go all day and all evening...and now I am twelve pounds heavier in three weeks and have jumped to a size 4/5. None of my work clothes fit me anymore, and I feel awful. I have taken seven home pregnancy tests just to be sure and have even gone in to the doctor for a professional test, but everything has come out negative.

I am apparently switching to another pill (or whatever will work) today; I'm waiting for my doctor to call and discuss my options as I type this. Ladies, if your doctor suggests this stuff, please take my advice and DON'T try it. It has been nothing but hell for me over the past several weeks. Save yourself the time, money, aggravation, and lost pounds and stay away from Loestrin.

In 1988 I had some complications with my pregnancy. I went into premature labor on June 5th. My due date was August 17th. My son was born premature on July 19th, with a good birth weight of 7.11 pounds. I received Yutopar drip while I was in the hospital for 5 days beginning on June 5th. When I returned home I continued Yutopar medication in a pill form up to July 19th when my son was born. Other than jaundice, he had no other apparent problems. While in pre-school at the age of 4 years, his teacher noticed he was having several problems. One of which was staring spells. We took him to a pediatric neurology clinic. His eeg was normal, but the doctor did notice he had problems with cognitive delays. Our next step was to take him for a neuropsychological evaluation. He was diagnosed with sensory motor integration deficits. From there we did everything that was offered to help him, including occupational therapy. Also, we thought he was born with lazy eye. It turned out to be exotropia. We took him to eye therapy to avoid surgery, but it did not help. At the age of 6 he had eye surgery to tighten his eye muscles. From the age of 4 to 6 years old, our son went through a lot with all the testings, therapies and surgery. He continued to struggle with some learning problems and low self-esteem throughout his school years. Currently, at the age of 21 he still has some small cognitive problems. In April, at the age of 17, his hair stated falling out in hugh clumps. He hid this from us by wearing a hat all the time. In June, he was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease called alopecia areata. By the time his senior year of high school started, he had lost 45% of his hair in patchy baldness. With the help of steroid injections into his scalp his hair came back into growth. He came out of remission at the age of 18 and 19 and is currently in remission. To make things even worse, he started feeling like something was wrong with his heart. This was during the time his hair was falling out when he was 17 and 18, and he was receiving treatment for his hair loss. He also hid this from us. It was October by the time he told me and I brushed it off as stress. He finally told me again in December. He said he felt like he was going to die and his heart didn't beat all the time. I took him to the doctor. He was tested and 2 days after Christmas the doctor called and told us to take him to the hospital asap! His heart was pausing anywhere from 2 to 7 seconds. He was transferred out of the area to a pediatric icu. He was diagnosed with Ventricular Fibrillation and received a pace maker at the age of 18 years old. His pace maker currently does 40% of the work to help his heart beat. There was a team of doctors trying to figure out why this has happened to his heart, but couldn't come up with specific answers. They did every test they could think of. I asked them about Yutopar and they say no. I asked them about the short term amount of steriod injections he had to make his hair grow back and they say no. They say his heart may have had a virus or he may have been born with the defect. He had already started having behavioral problems when he was 15 right after his Dad and I split up. His problems became much worse after his heart and hair problems. We have done and still do try everything possible to try to help him, but our hands are tied because he is 21 years old. His self help is marajuana and doctor prescribed street drugs. He has what I would call severe anger problems, very low self-esteem and a very bad temper. His behavioral problems and mental status can't get any worse than it is right now. As far as a mental illness diagnosis, we don't have one. I know he has one though. I'm always left to wonder if the drug Yutopar I took while I was pregnant had anything to do with all of his many problems throughout the years; especially with his sensory motor integration disorder, ventricular fibrillation heart defect and autoimmune disease.

I was on Yaz for two years, and gained a total of 17 pounds from the day I went on it, to the day I went off of it. I'm sure some of the weight gain can be attributed to other factors, but I didn't really change my diet or exercise regime at all and the piles still packed on. I also always looked really swollen, almost pregnant, like you could see the water retention in my tissues. I had issues with my hair falling out, too. The plus was that my moods did feel more leveled out, but then the weight gain and hair loss caused other emotional issues so it was a no win situation.

I went off of it about a year ago, I've lost 15 pounds of the weight and my hair loss has pretty much subsided. But now I have very short periods, lasting three days tops. I worry that Yaz did something to my body that may affect my ability to get pregnant long term, as it seems my hormone levels have seriously depleted...

Wow - I can't believe I didn't stumble across this website when I was researching Mirena. I got mine in April 09 and have had a lot of random things going on that I never put it all together that it could be the Mirena. Today, I took TWO pregnancy tests - tender breasts, swollen vag, face breaking out, achy stomach and back, specific stomach weight gain - it HAD to be pregnancy!

My girlfriend told me she was going insane w/ the same thoughts until she started reading stories of other peoples issues. Now, I'm reading all of your stories and just shaking in disbelief...

Weight gain - check.
Sore back/lower abs - check.
Slight odor - check
Terrible PMS symptoms but NO period - check
Zero sex drive - check.
Hair loss - check.
Wild mood swings - check.

The list goes on and on, it's madness! Since day one it has felt "weird" when I go to the bathroom, I just chalked it up to me thinking too much about it being in there.

I'm 32 with one young child and would prefer not to have another. I'm calling my Dr. tomorrow to discuss my options. Thank you ladies for sharing your experiences.

I had my Mirena removed two days ago and already feel a little more energy. I had it fitted in August 2006 and had major life changes about the same time. I moved to a new area and had a new job and my best friends moved 7 hours away from me...so when I started losing clumps of my hair, felt stressed out, tired all the time and depressed, I didn't think it was due to Mirena. I went to see a doctor and they told me it might be a thyroid problem so I had tests done and everything was fine. He said people lose their hair due to stress so I tried not to stress and all of my hair eventually grew back. I still felt tired all the time and would get angry easily and would have major depression episodes. I would stop talking to friends and family because I was this different person I didn't know how to tell them about. I was in college and my grades suffered because I would get so depressed I would get suicidal. I stopped taking a full load because I felt I wasn't mentally capable. I have always been very smart in school so for me to get bad grades made me feel even more depressed. I have had no drive to get out and do things that make me happy. I have had no sex drive. My boyfriend has been with me since a little before I had the Mirena inserted. I feel like he doesn't even know the real me. I feel so stupid for not adding this all up earlier and wasting 3 years of my life depressed. I told my doctor about all the symptoms before I had it removed and she said things in my life were most likely the reason not Mirena. I look at these posts and know she is wrong because people I know and family have seen me change for the worse and it has all been since I have had the Mirena. I was a person that would work all the time, take a full load of classes, go out with friends and family and enjoy life. Now I am a person that doesn't work, is taking 2 easy classes, most days stays in the room all day in bed on my computer and sleeps. This is ridiculous. I already want to leave the house. I am sure I am not back to normal already but I can see a spark there that wasn't there before. I am staying off birth control. I want my hormones to even out a little while before I even think of it again. Naturally we are supposed to have kids so when we take something to alter that we should be prepared for side effects. I would suggest getting this taken out because even if you think you may have no effects from it...later on you may realize you did. I will update with another post in a couple months to let you all know if my life has changed for the better. Good luck to you all.

My 17 year old daughter received her second vaccination on Mar 10 2009. Four days later she began having headaches and fatigue.Within 2 weeks she was having non-epileptic seizures, tremors, numbness and pain in all her extremities. She has been hospitalized twice with still no answers. She was a healthy energetic cheerleader before Gardasil now she can barely get out of the bed.Her hair is falling out in clumps and she has lost 40 lbs. This has been a nightmare.I was just trying to protect my daughter. Her senior year is now spent hospital home bound.

I had Mirena inserted in June, 2008 after the birth of my second child. I was almost 30. I didn't notice too many side effects until December/January of 2009. My hair was falling out in clumps (worse than it does right after you have your baby), my body ached like I had the flu, I had to desire or energy to take care of my kids, I didn't care what my house looked like or that my laundry wasn't done. The least little incident when send me over the edge - screaming and crying like a crazy person. I felt flutters throughout my stomach (kind of like that of your baby when you first feel it kick) and I would have "lightning strikes" through my heart. All I wanted to do was rest - didn't want to clean, deal with my kids, talk to my husband about my feeling and definitely DID NOT WANT TO HAVE SEX! And in my mind I had already decided that it was depression and so I scheduled an appointment to see my OB/GYN about it. Thank GOD I found this web site before my appointment. I described my symptoms to her and, sure enough, she was concerned that I may be depressed and was probably about to send me on some wild goose chase with drugs and treatment and all of that... Not that there's anything wrong with being depressed - it's a real condition that's easy to find yourself in as a mommy - but it wasn't the case with me. This stinkin' Mirena has made me this way! Instead of opting for her depression treatment, I had the Mirena removed that day. It's been out for about a week now. I've had a couple of days of spotting but OMG do I already feel so much better. The energy level is coming back to normal, I want to be with my kids and it's OK when my husband touches me. For those of you who are considering Mirena as a possible BC method, please reconsider and do your homework. For those of you who have Mirena, please know that you are not crazy, nor have your children/pregnancy made you crazy - you have a foreign object in your body that is screwing up your mental and physical well-being, your family, and your life. I urge you to make a list of all of your systems and talk to your doctor. Don't let them tell you that's it's all in your head or that you're depressed. I'm depressed that more research wasn't done on this "wonder cure" and I'm depressed that I lost a year with my family that I can't get back because Mirena kept me in a FOG! Good luck to all of you...

I can't believe how reading all of your horror stories make everything "come together" for me too. I have been on Mirena for almost a month and had side effects from day 3 on. It started with this overwhelming fatigue and what I assume was depression. I am the happiest, most vibrant person and all of the sudden I was fighting back tears for no reason at all. Then around day 5, the cramps started. I thought I was going to die. I couldn't work, couldn't sleep, couldn't play with my kids. It was awful. They subsided after about 4 days. Then the worst happened. I started losing hair...I mean clumps, not just natural shedding. I have long dark hair and when I showered it looked like I was on chemo or something with the amount of hair hitting that shower floor. So scary! Then the headaches, OMG! Awful! Remember, all of this happened to me in just a few weeks time. So I'm freaking out crying last night because of my hair and I call the doctor and they think its my thyroid so they're sending me to an endocrinologist. Then my mom found this website and it all came together for me. MIRENA! So needless to say, I am having it removed tomorrow morning. Oh yeah, and I've gained 7 pounds in 3 weeks...nice.

Hi everyone, like almost all of you I was so glad to stumble across this site. I had my mirena put in 4 months ago and when I was getting it put in my partner took the day off work and decided to tell his boss it was because he was coming with me to get the Mirena (I was horrified that he told him at the time!). But it turned out to be a blessing because my partner came home 3 days ago and told me that his boss asked him whether I had been getting deep pimples that never come 'to a head' and that his wife had them all over her face and couldn’t get rid of them and that she had put it down to the Mirena. I said to him, "Don’t be ridiculous, the Mirena does not give any side effects", and that was that. See I was told from my gyno that "The Mirena is perfect" and she said that the only people that go back to her to go off the Mirena "are people that are never satisfied with any contraception". And then over the past three days I realized that the bumps on my face that are deep under my skin have only appeared in the months after I got my Mirena and I have had worse pimples than ever before, and they have been untreatable with new ones appearing every day and I had never before had lumps that remain under my skins for months. It also wasn’t until I got onto this website that I realized the anxiety I have been feeling in the last couple months, weight gain and itchy skin have also all come about since the Mirena. I am tired all the time and never want to move or do anything and hate getting out of bed even with 14 hours sleep!!!!! Also - I have been pulling clumps of hair out of the shower drain and my comb over the past couple months - yet have had the same hairdresser and hair routine for the last 6 years.... I could not figure out why I was losing my hair and ended up having it cut from a mid-long length to above the shoulders 3 weeks ago, because there was just hardly any hair left. Also - about 2 weeks ago I told my partner (in an emotional uncontrollable episode which has become a frequent event since Mirena) that I had no reason to live anymore and just didn’t want to go on. First time I have ever felt like this, it was awful. I am normally the happy person at work who gets along with everyone and yet now I cant stand the look of any of them or even the sound of their voice makes me want to scream at them. WHOA, CRAZY!!!!!!! I have also lost any interest in self appearance and in the past few months have completely let myself go. I have also had sex twice since going on it. YES thats right - SEX TWICE IN FOUR MONTHS, aaaaaarrrrrgh. And to the most disgusting part of all - I have been getting an awful discharge that smells bad. I am a really clean person and was considering going to my gyno in the coming week to ask why it was happening….. I have been on many pills and the depot and whilst I experienced side affects with all of them, none of them were anything like this, I would get a side effect here and there on the others, nothing like this. Biggest waste of $800 ever. p.s. I wear panty liners every single day and night of the week.

I had my Mirena inserted after my second child in March 2009. I didn't have any difficulty with the insertion, but shortly after I started having severe headaches (about once a week) and bled on random occasions. About a month ago my family and I moved, and when we started living in our new house I noticed my hair falling out in huge clumps, which is something new to me because I have always had thick, healthy hair. I figured it was the stress from moving but when it didn't stop I came across this website and found out it was a side effect from Mirena. I put in a call today to the doctor to see about taking this thing out. Maybe I can take some extra vitamins to fix it that way I can keep the Mirena. If not it is coming out.

HEllo.. I am a 47 year woman, whom started losing alot of hair all of a sudden... I had been losing, a few to 20, throughout a days brushing.> But the last few weeks a good chunk on and off for months.. I started advair last year.. Just got my 3rd refill... I been on albuterol for about 4 years.. My airways close severely..Allergies to foods, chemical, nature flowers and plants.. I also have Apnea sleep disorder which closes airways.. I take, singulair, albuterol, advair, naproxen, and flonase.. daily... I try to take the advair only if really needed.. BUt usually needed every day.. BUT I got the thought the more recent meds have to be the culprit..Not unusual to lose a 100 hairs a day by studies ! But clumps from same spot, all of a sudden! >YEa something not right ! So I started searching..Found so far nsaids such as the naproxen , and this advair both can make you lose your hair and then some ! I also get the itching for your life itch ! HEad to toe ! Dry, Told the doctor I use ever cream, lotion, gel, To Moisturize and it not help..
I been bloating on and off for years, with bowel trouble(IBS).. And nsaids also give constipation problems it seems , as advair has been said by users. BUt the last few years even more so.. I always excerscized..BUt bloat would make me not even appear as I exercise regular.. I have nerve problems all the time.. NEver had blood pressure... ALways read low if anything..NOW I am rating higher blood pressure when I go the dr.. I noticed in the last year My blood vessels show through my skin aLot ! That seemed weird to me ! Perhaps the meds? I been gettin more backaches than usual.. I always have them along in my life..BUT MOre prevailed Now in Lower back . My Eyes stay dry No matter what I do, Even feels like something in my eye, like a small bug or something... BUt never nothing there.. I get the ringing in the ears quite often now.. I think I will quit advair.. As for albuterol I do not know !? I do not know.>BUt Advair is the only meds I started recent.. And the clumps of hair been recent.>So I assume yes the advair !

THe person saying bad mouthing the advair or any med... that it is as prescribed only etc.. YOUR right ! Some people cannot take wat other persons can.> We take meds from a dr.. Not realizing we can have allergy reactions to the med, other people will not have ! PErhaps that it I have another chemical I cannot take in the advair, And perhaps the albuterol !

And another thing.>>The OZone harming chemical had been taken out the ALBUTEROL... they switched it to something else but calls it Albuterol still.. THat is what my Dr told me ! So if harmful to the Ozone, why not harmeful to humans. IT is about Sales to the medical fields more than HElping humans ! Money talks !

GOOD Luck.. and remember GOD is the 1st Physician.>HE cures still !

I had extreme hair loss in February 2008 while taking Prevacid. I got off of it and began taking Protonix and my hair began growing back. It is now as thick and healthy as ever. Prevacid is definitely the reason that I lost my hair in clumps. It really scared me.

Everyone out there, try Armour Thyroid!!! I was changed to Synthroid (because my endo only believed in it) a few years ago, and put on 15 pounds and lost half of my hair. I work out at least 6 days a week, run 3-4 miles a day, and live on salad. I asked my regular MD to switch me to Armour, and in three weeks, my hair stopped falling out, and I'm losing weight. I was losing, yes, I counted, at least 45 hairs a day when I combed my hair after my shower (and I'm not counting the clumps that came out in the shower). Now, maybe when I wring my hair out in the shower, only one will come out and less than 15 in my comb. Ask you doctor to just try it, and if it doesn't work, you can always go back. I swear by it. I'm happy all the time again, where I have just been monotone for the last few years, and I'm thrilled. Good luck!!!

Hey I see Im not the only one with problems that the doctors blam on other things!! I have always been so healthy UNTIL I had twins in Feb 06 and had Mirena put in Oct 06 and almost immediately started having side effects.I started to read up and realized the ones I had were all listed as side effects with it.The first side effects weren't that bad but OMG now I am horrible.I have so many side effects and am wondering if anyone is in the same boat??Mine are:weight gain, hair loss, facial hair, migraines, irritability, fatigue,NO sex drive, anxiety, depression, fluttering in my stomach, back and joint pain, pain during sex, stomach spasms, the list goes ON and ON, oh and lets not forget they say I have PCOS!! Now I wish they could tell me how I went from perfectly healthy to THIS!! I have been to 3 different docs and asked to have it removed but surprise surprise they all did not want to remove it and now I have NO insurance..I am to the point if I could take the thing out myself I would!! I am SOOO miserable and if I say I want it out who are they to tell me no?? Can anyone else relate?? I AM GOING CRAZY!!!

I had been on Yaz for almost 4 years, until I quit taking it almost 8 weeks ago. Let me tell you what I regained from not using this drug anymore. I have first and foremost regained my sanity, I've never been happier. I have a sense of humor again. The depression is gone. Secondly, I have regained my sex drive. Along with that I have also regained vaginal fluid again with sexual arousal. My breast size has increased slightly and my skin has feeling again. My rashes have went away, my hair is no longer falling out in clumps, my skin is smoother without facial redness or irritation. My blood pressure has lowered. Let me say this again, my blood pressure has lowered. This I think is most important! No more migraines. No more panic attacks. No more diarrhea, no more bloating til I thought my stomach would explode. I no longer have lower back pain, the pain was so bad at times I'ld have to go to the ER to get shots of anti- inflammatory drugs. Back pain is gone! Hooray. I will NEVER TAKE YAZ again. I will never recommend it to anyone.

Its copper IUD.It doesn't give out hormones like mirena. not sure if it works..if it doesn't i have consider the permanent way.i am so mad over this..i am having depressions now.. it is so crazy..one side of my mind it says everything is normal y am i feeling this way, and yes its just a usual Monday i know it... on the other it just feels like a different day..the only difference is that my hubby is working a late shift and i feel as if i need him by my side desperately.. doesn't makes sense... i feel as if i need to cry... arggg... my mensus is just over aren't the hormones suppose to be settled by now...?

well i went to the e.r. tonight to have a possible blood clot checked out (not related..and it wasn't one) but have felt absolutely crappy since having this IUD put in a week ago today...have almost all the symptoms as mamacass...including headaches, dizziness, and many others... the e.r. .they checked and said it is placed properly...but have had the chest pain, shortness of breath, terrible back pains, profuse sweating, chills...i keep those little heating patches on my lower abdomen and back due to pain (also have little bursts of shocks from abdomen)...i had UTI symptoms...burning when urinating...so i thought i had a UTI...the e.r. ruled that out too...plus they did a chest x-ray..nothing...blood work...nothing wrong there...anxiety ( i don't have a history of that...maybe the hormones released by this thing?) so basically they said all my symptoms are mirena related and to have it removed...i really want to keep it....it's only been one week ...do these things go away?

I had a Mirena put in 1.5 weeks ago. I have had 3 migraines in this time frame. I have only had 2 migraines my WHOLE LIFE before the mirena. I asked a nurse at the doctor's office if this is a side effect and she said NO! Pffft. I also noticed my hair is coming out in clumps in the shower, and my right leg has a weird cramp/ache down the back of it, not like sciatica but a kind of dull ache. I think I am one of those women who is very sensitive to hormones. I was on the pill for years as a teen and young 20something, and had chronic headaches but never put 2+2 together! I will be getting the Mirena out asap and I'm going to try Fertility Awareness. I'm done with trying to chemically manipulate my body.
