hello everyone. i have had the mirena in for 3 years since the birth of my first child. I am 24 years old, and i am in the worst pain of my life. you see i have this pain, that i can only equate to stabbing pain that either occurs on my right or left lower abdomen. it starts out very dull and then like as if to warn me of the potential stress, comes back harder and harder. it can happen anytime, laying down in the middle of the night, standing up, driving in the car, anywhere any time. it will also come back more than once in a day, but then on the other hand sometimes i wont have it for a week at a time. the last time this happened, i was at work. i am a cna and its not a pleasant idea to be taking care of someone and all of a sudden you experience this pain. when the pain is fully involved, my whole leg on the affected side goes numb. i have tried to use Motrin, naproxen, heating pads, but nothing helps the pain. after seeing everyone else posts in this forum, i am going in this Thursday to get it out. PLEASE BE VERY CAREFUL ABOUT THIS PRODUCT. i feel it has hurt me more than i even know. this is a very very scary feeling. i do also experience the bitchiness, and the constant bloating that everyone else does but i CANT DEAL with this pain anymore running my life. PLEASE PLEASE BE CAREFUL!!

After reading all the comments that have been posted, I feel compelled to add my story. I have been on advair for approximately two years. One of the first comments I read a week or so ago was about the person that had horrible foot pain for over two years and felt it could have been from the Advair as well.

I have had severe foot pain for over 2 years. I had plantar faciitis in both feet and had surgery on both to fix that. Several months after surgery I still wasn't healed as much as I thought I should be and my doctor felt the same way. I then began a series of more cortizone shots, physical therapy, ultrasound therapy plus an on going slew of blood tests to rule out everything we could. I even went to a Neurologist and had an EMG done. Newest diagnosis is tarsal tunnel syndrome, so I was put on yet another drug (Cymbalta) I wouldn't recommend that one either. And still the pain exists. In fact the pain went from the heals to the tops of my feet. It feels more skeletal than nerve related. I have had stress fractures in both feet and ironically the same exact bone approximately 6 weeks apart. Is all of this coincidence, or linked to being on Advair?

I also have gone through most of the symptoms that others have posted; fatigue, insomnia, blurred vision, sore muscles, headaches, water retention, weight gain (40 pounds in 2 years), slow healing, bad scaring, easy bruising and many more I'm sure I've forgotten.

The day after being on this site and reading everyone's comments, I went and threw my Advair away. I don't have asthma, just bad allergies, and right now my breathing has been fine being off of the Advair. I still use my inhaler though as needed. The one comment that scared me the most was the side effect that several posted about rotting teeth and jaw problems. That's one side effect I haven't had and that's the main reason I stopped using the Advair. I have perfect teeth and don't want to ruin them.

I don't have any answers either, but just know that we as patients have to take control of our health. Don't feel bad if you disagree with your doctor or ask for a second opinion. We as a society have become quick to fix our ailments with drugs that have yet to be "proven" as safe over a long period of time.

Im in the process of weaning my self off of two other drugs that I was taking besides the Advair. I'm doing more on-line research regarding natural remedies for some of my ailments. I still have some side effects but that could be due to the detoxifying process. This is a process that takes a few weeks. Make sure you consult with your physician first before trying any of this.

I have been on Lyrica for almost 2 years for nerve damage and fibro. I have gained approx. 60 pounds since starting it and now have arthritis in my back. I finally took myself off because the side effects outweighed the benefits. I ha a hard time concentrating at work, dizziness, severe weight gain, bloating and frequent urination. I also have IC (bladder condition), so the frequent urination was also killing me.

I started the NuvaRing in July and really liked the convenience of only inserting it in once a month. I would sometimes forget to take my pills and this was a good way of not worrying about forgetting my pills. Everything was fine at first, however, there were a few times where my periods were very irregular. One time I started my period 2 weeks early and it lasted 2 weeks long. My sex drive also decreased to the point where I just wasn't even thinking about sex. I thought the lack of sex drive was due to stress of planning a wedding, work, etc but I realized something was very wrong. I am only 30 years and yet I had no interest in sex. It wasn't my husband, I was just not wanting sex period. Then in Feb, I gained about 10lbs and now I can't get it off. I work out everyday religiously and eat really well and I cheat once a week and even then I watch what i eat. It's been a month and nothing gives. I did take the ring out 2 weeks ago and I don't plan on going back on it or any type of birth control. I am going to stick to the condom. This is the heaviest that I have weighed in the last 3-4 years, and the ironic thing is that I eat a lot better now than I did 3-4 years ago. Now my clothes don't fit and I feel like a cow. I also was experiencing hair loss I know losing 100 strands a day was normal but what I was losing wasn't normal. I also was getting really tired. Despite how tired I was, I still wake up at 4am mon-fri to work out. I am so frustrated, I can't wait till these hormones are out of my body completely. the last time I had this issue (not being able to get the weight off) was with Yasmin, luckily I wasn't on it for too long before I realized that brand wasn't working for me. Please let me know how long it has taken to get NuvaRing out of your system. I have been ring free for about 2 weeks and have yet to start my period, I think my body is screwed up..

This is a great site for learning more on this subject where we can get the real facts from real experiences.( Vs. the deception from drug companies who are in the business for profit.)

Lipitor is pure poison, and Dr.'s hand it out like candy. All cholesterol reducing drugs that contain statins can trigger dangerous side effects. Not many of us are informed about the real danger of statins when we are handed the perscription. Inappropriate prescribing of medications will continue to be one of the leading causes of death. And we, the patients,do not always receive enough info. from our Dr.'s about the dangers and side effects from prescription drugs.

I'm 48 yrs. young. Female, small build, (was) healthy and active, happy, and an empty nester! My husband and I had moved to another province and hence had to find a new Dr.

I was prescribed lipitor 10 mg. daily after a routine check up by my Dr. because my cholesterol was a little high.

I started taking it in the winter 2005. I stopped taking it in mid June 2007... My side effects were progressive , drug induced, and it escalated to near disabling.

I knew something was terribly wrong. Was it A.L.S., M.S., West Nile, Lupis, Alzhiemers Disease, or a new designer disease? I did not suspect that the drug lipitor was the cause until much later.

At first, my Dr. said it was menopause. I should mention; since I've quit taking the drug 3 months ago, I have no symptoms of menopause !
At least my Dr. has acknowledged and diagnosed the cause of these profound symptoms." Myopathy as a result of statins."

Signs & symptoms I experienced are as follows;

Severe stomach pain.
Muscle pain, aching , weakness, stiffness, tenderness esp.to the lower extremities. Eventually, I could only shuffle to walk.
Pain in the palms of hands.
Stiff neck, shoulders, arms and lower back.
Trouble getting up from a seated position, and climbing stairs.
Extreme fatigue.
Hot and cold sweats
Night sweats
Fevers. High and low grade fevers.
Ringing in the ears.
Difficulty swallowing, and fear of choking.
Pain in the esophagus.
Memory loss, difficulty concentrating, forgetfulness.
NO appetite, yet a lot of weight gained around the abdomen area.Bloated.
NO taste buds.
Speech affected, slurring words and mispronouncing. Tongue felt swollen.
Trouble breathing at night, would wake up coughing ( and I was not smoking then).
Trouble sleeping.
Loss of balance and coordination.
Blurred vision esp. in the morning.
Sharp shooting pains in the Rt. thigh.

Most of the symptoms have now subsided. I still have some foot pain and leg cramps and muscle stiffness... and poor concentration. Putting this together has been done with great difficulty, as I seem to pause a great deal and forget what I was trying to say. The recovery process is slow but at least it's progress. My Dr. has not prescribed any more medication. I've done my own research, after the fact, and started taking coQ10. and I've noticed a big difference!

Quality of life? Well, I'd rather have high cholesterol and die from that, than be poisoned again by statins. What quality is there, to live an extremely painful, useless and unfulfilling life? We were all guinea pigs, and we paid a terrible price for this! I hope we all can recover from this with no long term side effects.
If you are considering taking cholesterol lowering drugs do some careful research on statin drugs before you take them, and read the testimonies from those effected by them.
sj.

Ok, I have read EVERY ONE of these! and I am beyond angry for EVERY person that I have read up on. My Husband was put on Lisinopril from his VA Doctor about two months ago. I have watched him like a hawk on this medicine and I have cried myself to sleep because of the pain from the caughing. He has had sweats like you would'nt believe!!. We took a weekend get away down to the Beach, IT WAS 69 DEGREES with a GOOD BREEZE on the PIER!! and I watched my husband sweat to the point where it was dripping off of his nose!!. In our hotel room (on the BEACH) the windows were OPEN, the FANs were ON, and he was sitting in a chair DOING NOTHING!!!! BUT, SWEATING!!! and complaining how his back was hurting. (MY HUSBAND DOES NOT COMPLAIN ABOUT ANYTHING!!!) (when it comes to pain). I am a licensed CNA and have worked in State Hospitals so I've seen ALOT!! & dealt with ALOT! I do not over react, I'm trained not to!. But these SO CALLED DOCTORS ARE A JOKE! I can't get ANY of them to take this SERIOUSLY!!. I took hin back to the URGENT CARE at the VA and they said I was "FISHING"!. I have been with my HUSBAND for 12yrs. I think I would have a CLUE or NOT if something was wrong with him. His eyes are "blood shot" says the Dr. @ VA, (I say YELLOW), his mid back (kidney area) hurts, has head aches, no engery (hes a truck driver) who workes out, sex life is basically -0-, (not my husband), and the caughing is BEYOND WORDS!!!!!, heavyness in his chest, tingeling down his right arm into his fingers( I manipulate the nerve in between his elbow to get the feeling back). Again please understand my husband is not a complainer!!(jokingly to apease me he says"don't worrie I'm an ex-Marine). The other night while we were on our weekend get away(HONEYMOON after two years) he ased me if I had thought about what I would do if anything were to happen to him "where would I go/live/do? Thats how BAD he felt. He wasn't trying to scare me he just wanted to talk through what was in his head cause of hoe he was feeling from all of these things that were happening to him and his body(seriously WORRIED) he had never felt these things before. I took him OFF OF this HORRIBLE STUFF that night!!!!. He has been off this stuff now for a week and two days! The sweats have stopped, the head aches have lessened, the back pain is still some what there, I haven't manipulated the nerve in his elbow, in time we'll work on the fun stuff (intamacy), AND~~~~THE CAUGHING HAS become WAY WAY WAY LESS!!!, he sleeps a little better now too. My husband is a type 2 Diabetic (within the last year), has high blood pressure(not bad though), and a Prostrate problem(up every 1/2-1hr. urinating) DRIVES HIM NUTS!!! not real good when you have to be up at 3;30 every morning to go to work. His Med's are: Metformin (diabetes), Lisinopril (high blood pressure), Finasteride (prostate), Naproxen (pain). He WAS on Atenolol before changing to Lisinopril. That is also another DANGEROUSE Medication!!!! Bad sied effects: swelling!!.

I want to thank ALL who shared there stories here!!!you ALL have helped me in showing my husband that this is NOT a temporary situation. He can be STUBBORN when it comes to things of this matter!!. Now he's starting to listen to what i'm trying to tell him & show him. Now he believes me when i tell him "this is not a joke"!! and Doctors are not GOD!! God is God!

Hi everyone

My daughter had been taking Yasmin for a year. She was put on it for medical reasons. During the last year her personality has gone from bad to worse. Being very irrational with mood swings and a "Dr Jek/ Mr Hyde" personality thing going. Just very hard to talk to any sense into at all. After suffering with her we took her to our family Dr who said she had mild depression and perscibed Zolft. We saw a quick improvement however after a few months on zoloft she took herself off when she gained 12 lbs in 3 months. However after reading this web sight it has become clear that maybe just maybe her problems are related to the Yasmin. After talking with our doctor we have decided to take her off Yasmin to see if we see any improvements. As we think back..yes, she has always been strong willed and some what "difficult" but there has been a definite decline in her personality behavior in the last year. Sooo my question is this..she has been off the Yasmin for almost 2 weeks now and we dont seem to see much of a differance ( maybe a tiny bit?). Cna nayone maybe shed soem light on how long this might take to "begin to return to normal" ( assuming it could be Yasmin). Any thoughts on this would be helpful. Thank you
