Cold sore symptoms and conditions

I had one injection of Kenalog to treat anal itching. Doctor did not know how to treat it and used Kenalog as her last resort. It did not make any difference. Eventually another doctor diagnosed me with Herpes Cold Sore and treated me with Valtrex.
However, Kenalog messed up my menstrual cycle so badly and I haven't had ovulation for the last three months. What's upsetting is that my doctor knew that I was trying to get pregnant and did not inform me of such side effects. When I called the doctor later and told her what happened, she sounded very surprised and said that she had never heard of such a thing.
Doctors need to be better informed about side effects before recommending any medicine to their patients. And the lesson learned for me is to not trust doctors any more, always do research beforehand. Oh well, hopefully the ovulation will come back soon, it has been way too hard emotionally to deal with the overall situation.

Sunday May 25, we brought home a new dog. Wed May 28 I started to break out in hives. I had hives for days, bad hives covering large parts of my body. Friday the 30 I woke up and both my lips were swollen to about 3 times the size they were supposed to be. I went to my doctor very concerned and she prescribed me Prednisone and Benadryl as needed. The hives continued - never completely going away. On June 3rd it was the last day of the prednisone, I was only on it for 5 days, but shortly after I took the last dose, I all of a sudden was having a hard time breathing and I broke out the worst so far. I ended up going to the E.R. because I couldn't breathe. The doctor at the er prescribed me another dose of the prednisone but also put me on zyrtec and pepcid. She was claiming that it was an allergic reaction to the dog. I had just hives again on the 4th, and then on the 5th I had hives again and then the back for my throat, my tongue, and my upper right gum went numb and I woke up at 12 am to my tongue being so swollen I couldn't shut my mouth. The next morning on the 6th I woke up to my face and lips swollen again and in the afternoon my tongue and gums went numb again. At this time the doctor wanted me to get the dog out of the house so I sent him to my mothers. I continued to wake up each passing morning with hives.Monday the 9th, my bottom lip swelled up around 4 in the afternoon and then spread to my upper lip and right side of my face before the end of the evening. Tuesday the 10th, woke up to both my lips and the right side still swollen. By the afternoon the swelling went down by on my bottom lip and large white spot appeared with 4 tiny brown spots in it. This made me nervous so I went back to the doctor and he said that being on the prednisone things can occur in abnormal ways and he thinks that the spot was just a cold sore so he gave me yet another script to take care of that. I woke up the next morning (the 11th) with hives on my arms and knees. Thursday I didn't have any hives but I started to get severely sick to my stomach and had a killer headache. This continued into Friday morning so I went back to the doctor, got a shot for the nausea. The sickness subsided for the remaining of the day but came back Saturday. Sunday I woke up with hives yet again on my arms and legs. And again on Monday. Back at one of my visits to the doctor he gave me a script to hang on to for another dose of the prednisone in case i was still breaking out at the end of this dose, so Monday the 16th I had to get this script filled. No symptoms on the 17th, and I brought my dog home on the 18th. I have absolutely no symptoms of hives or swelling of the face since the 16th, and the dog has been by my side since. I have although blown up. I am the puffiest I think I have ever been in my life. I am so uncomfortable in my own skin it makes me sick. I am VERY moody. and can cry at the drop of a pin.

I have heard absolutely nothing good about prednisone. I told the dr this, but he felt the perks off set the downs. I am not happy being on this med. I have 4 days left on this med. When I am done taking it, if i have no more symptoms I am going back to the doctor and asking them to give me something to get rid of this water weight. I have an appointment on July 10th to be tested for allergies. Wish me luck that it doesn't come back I am allergic to my puppy. I have become very fond of him. I would be devastated.

I would really take into consideration not taking this med. I know that when I am done taking it, I wont ever take it again. A lot of the side effects that this med can give you was the reason they were giving it to me. So I guess I just done understand why they would give me something that can make me have what they are trying to get rid of.

I trust my doctor I know he wouldn't do anything to harm me. I am just not comfortable with the side effect of this med.

I took Bactrim for a Saph infection a high dose, twice a day. On my third day, my lips began to swell and a cold sore that was I my lip prior to taking it swelled up. My staph infection cleared up, but I developed a sore tight throat. A huge blister like cold sore on my lip, and my right eye itches and is red like crazy.

Having read all the other peoples comments, am feeling a little less like I am going mad! I am 33 and have no children and had the Mirena coil fitted 18 months ago to combat VERY heavy periods and a dangerously low iron level (i suffer from PCOS). All seemed to be going well for the first 6 months or so- still bleeding but less heavily and a little bit of weight gain, but nothing too scary. Then 9 months in I got what seemed to be a very bad case of herpes the doctor didn't do a blood test, but did give me medication and pain killers.....I have been with my partner for 4 years, we are both faithful and I have never even had a cold sore before!
In the past 9 months my period have been getting more frequent again (one every couple of weeks for about 5 days) but not as heavy as before AND I am getting a very swollen every month with dry itchy areas and sometimes a blister! Does anyone know if it can cause a dormant herpes infection to become active? I am also putting on weight more and the mood swings are getting more pronounced....lots of uncontrollable for no reason and my sex drive is either very high or not there.
I think I will get it removed, but I am scared of the effect this will have on my periods........can anyone help!

I would just like to say that i get cold sores about twice a year. But after I took the ring out for the first time i had 3 cold sores the second day it was out.... I have never had more than one cold sore at a time. Has anyone else had a problem like this??

I started taking advair since this fall. i was really sick with cheat cold, sore throat, stuffy nose the works. I did not have the flu shot so naturally, having asthma, my symptoms were worse. I had about 6 asthma attacks before taking Advair 250/50. I sent to an asthma doctor nhe recommended this to me. Yes it helped. I still had about 3 asthma attacks while i was sick.

What i noticed was voice loss: squeaky voice, straining. I just thought it was me being sick. when i got better i noticed my breathing more. It takes me so long to eat or drink everything! It feels like there is pressure on my chest or the need to burp in order for me to feel better. I continue eating and it starts again. I didnt understand it at first but now i do. It has to be advair becuase i never elt like i had to burp so bad and stop doing my normal tasks.

I try to take Advair 1 everyday instead of twice a day. Today my sibling seen on the news that Advair is causing more deaths then helping asthmatics.

SO SHOULD I STOP TAKING IT ALTOGETHER? OR SWITCH TO SOMETHING ELSE? IF SO WHAT?

Well, it's been five days since I stopped taking Yasmin and my last entry on this site. I got my period right away, so haven't noticed any improvement in how I feel. I've had a killer headache just about every day, a nice juicy cold sore on my lip and one day after stopping the pill, noticed what looked like a broken blood vessel in my eye before I went to bed, but it was gone by the next morning, plus I've woke up every morning cold and sweaty. I'm certainly very scared to try any type of hormonal treatment again. My only hope is that I start to feel more like myself soon. I have an appointment with my GP tomorrow and was considering trying Alesse, but have decided against this. Has anyone had any sort of success with any natural/holistic products and/or treatments?

god! I thought I was the only one!!! I'm definitely talking to my doctor as soon as possible....I've had headaches and nausea and cramos, leg cramps, and the latest one...a cold sore!! I love how convenient the product is, but the side effects are too much....luckily I havent had the mood swings...but I'm not going to wait til I get them!!

I have been on Advair 100/50 for about 8 months now for adult onset asthma. I have noticed really not much of an improvement - only slight - in my symptoms of chest tightness. Taking Tylenol Arthritis seems to help with the symptoms. I started having facial breakouts with sores around my mouth that don't heal. They are still red and tender - thought it was a cold sore but it isn't going away. I am now convinced it is from taking Advair. I have also had weight gain in the past few months but thought it was from all the cookies & ice cream I was eating! :-) Now I can blame it on Advair! I am going to speak with my doctor about these side effects and change to some other type of medication!

I have developed a cold sore 2 weeks after starting on adderall. i haven't had one since i was a kid. Anyone else have this happen.

Yes, I have a new cold sore every other week, I didn't know if that was a side effect or not. I'm currently off the pill, I posted last week and stated that I gained 10-15 lbs and was a complete grump. I feel wonderful.
